Pasión y Poder Episode #13 Friday, November 20th 2015 The one where the Gomez Luna men have girl trouble.

When we last left off, Julia had walked in and found Hubs (Eladio) and The Ratt (Montse) in a rather compromising situation. In a surprising twist, Eladio wasn't able to weasel his way out of this one, despite The Ratt's squeaks, err pleas, that she and Eladio have nothing together. And despite, Eladio attempting to explain to Julia that what she saw was a terrible misunderstanding. Julia leaves the Gomez Luna offices believing that Hubs is cheating on her with The Ratt. [Side Note #1: It should be noted that one point, Julia told Eladio that she thought that his flings were over with, which would indicate, that she knows very well that he has had affairs with other women.] [Side Note #2: Marinita, or whatever her name is, was seen slithering past Eladio, at the end of the scene, which would indicate that she had overheard the entire argument between Julia and Eladio.]

Daniela spews some BS to Arturo about wanting to head off to Queretaro because she wants to change and wants to patch things up with her sister Regina. Well, Arturo Montenegro wasn't born yesterday, so he's not buying the BS, AT FIRST. But then, Daniela claims that she talked to her mother about her "change" and as expected Mommie Dearest backs her slutty daughter up. Well, that's enough for Arturo, to allow Daniela to head on over to Queretaro, so I guess he was born yesterday. [Side Note: It should be noted that during this scene, the Joshua factor came up, and Arturo made it clear to Nina that he didn't want to smell, err see, Joshua in the Montenegro household ever again.]

Ms. Insensitive, err Clara, decides to chit chat with Maribel, who is obviously suffering another headache, about the embrace and support she received from Francisco, regarding how sad Clara was over what is happening to Maribel. Clara can't seem to accept what is happening to Maribel, but Maribel has already accepted it, and advises Clara to live and enjoy every moment of her life. Maribel also advises Clara to get closer to Francisco and to not wait for him to get close to her. Jacinto joins the group and he picks up his daughter Luisita. He then passes Luisita over to Maribel,  so she can hold her daughter, but Maribel can't handle the weight of her daughter, and nearly falls down. Jacinto realizes that Maribel isn't feeling well and he asks her go on inside, telling her that he can take care of the corn stand for her. But Maribel refuses to go inside, in fact no one is leaving, they'll all stay together like a family.

Franco interrupts Gabriela's schoolwork with the news that his padrino has approved their relationship. Well, Gabriela already knew that, because her aunt had talked to her uncle about them. They both get busy with smooches. [Side Note: It should be noted that Franco arrived with a gift for Gabriela, and it looked like chocolates to me, but they weren't Ferrero Rocher. #Fail]

David and Regina wine and dine, err have dinner and wine, at some restaurant. David is pensive and serious for a moment as he thinks about his dad and how he really doesn't want to work with him. David understands that Regina didn't want to meet his parents, because well, he'd feel the same way if he all of a sudden had to meet her parents. Regina asks David if he really doesn't care what his father will think (about their relationship - I guess) and he replies that he has never gotten along with his father. If he's trying to get along with his father now, it's because of his mother. Regina thinks that his mother must love his father a lot to have put up with him. Well, David isn't so sure, in fact he suspects that his mother isn't so happy.

And David's right, because we find Julia packing her bags, and Gabriela helps her pack. Gabriela asks her aunt if she's sure of what she saw. Oh, Julia is sure alright, she saw when The Ratt was on top of Hubs and getting her slobber all over him, err kissing him. Eladio then comes into the room, he dismisses Gabriela nicely, and asks Julia to hear him out. He wants Julia to believe him and tells her that everything can remain the same between them. Well, Julia tells him that everything can't be the same. She has made her decision - she's going to live with David, whether he likes it or not.

Regina and David talk about their families. Regina tells David how she gets along better with her father than with her mother because her mother and Daniela are so alike. When it comes to her brothers, well she doesn't really get along with Erick, but she does get along with her half-brother Miguel, who is her confident and friend. She also gets along with Consuelo, her sister-in-law, and Consuelo is like a sister to her. David tells Regina that despite getting along with his cousin, Gabriela, he feels so alone at home. He tells her that his relationship with his dad has always been bad, and that his dad prefers his godson. Despite his dad changing, David feels that his dad is still serious and curt with him. David is worried about how his dad will react when he finds out about his relationship with Regina. He doesn't want to cause his mother any problems for supporting him. Regina wonders what they'll do, because she also doesn't want her dad to get mad when he finds out about their relationship. David tells her that they'll confront whatever happens together. He tells her that he loves her and she tells him that she loves him. Smooches.

Eladio decides to use the "financial support" card and asks Julia if she thinks that David will be able to financially support her like she deserves. Julia, has an answer for that one, and she sticks it to Eladio, telling him that at least she will be at place where she's respected. She tells him that she sincerely believed that things could be well between them, but he doesn't change, and he can keep his Ratt, err his mistress. Eladio explains how it all went down, well his version of what happened at least, and tells Julia that The Ratt came over to see him, and he thought she had come over to talk about the campaign, but she started to squeak, err mouth off, about her mother being ill and how she needed money. Julia gets sarcastic and supposes that The Ratt tried to slobber on him to convince him (to give her the money she needs I guess). Eladio tells Julia that he's not interested in no Ratt, and admits that yes he failed her in the past, but now she's mistaken. He goes on to tell Julia that he begged her for another opportunity and has showed her that they can be happy. Well, Julia believed that they could be happy, but then she finds out that he's cheating on her with a Ratt. He admits that yes he did cheat in the past, but that was way back then, when the two hardly spoke to one another. He gets on his knees and begs for another opportunity. Then he makes the mistake of letting it slip that he has done everything to please her, including accepting David as his own son. Julia is furious and realizes that he did everything so she would trust him, and not because he really believed that David was his son. Well, David is his son! He's HIS son! she tells him. He tells her that he'll do what she wants and asks her not to leave. She's so furious with him that she can't even stand to look at him so she kicks him out of the bedroom. He asks her to think things over calmly before making a decision. Julia leaves the room. [Side Note: It should be noted that when Julia left the room, Eladio opened up her suitcase, removed a clothing item of hers, and probably smelled it.]

Nina demands to know what reasons Daniela has for wanting to head on over to Queretaro. Oh, and don't tell me that you want to patch things up with your sister, because I don't believe it, she tells Daniela. Daniela claims that she needs a vacation away from Miguel the bastard and Consuelo and well Queretaro is the only place where her dad will allow her to go to. Nina wants to tag along, but Daniela is able to convince her mom to stay at home, so Nina can find out what's been eating Arturo, and how come he's behaving so strangely. For sure, her mom doesn't want to leave her hubby alone, so another woman can snatch him up. Nina realizes that she should stay so she can find out what is going on with Hubster.

The following day,

Over at the foundation, Julia and Gabriela chat. Julia is hurt by the thing with Eladio and The Ratt, but she's even more upset over Eladio still doubting that David is his son. Julia realizes that it isn't so easy going to live with David because she can't be putting over her son the burden of having to take care of her and her sick father's expenses. Gabriela wishes she could help her aunt. Julia tells her that she does enough by listening to her. Gabriela leaves for class. Julia's secretary comes into her office, with the news that a check didn't go through. Julia finds out that the check is from Arturo.

David and Regina spend what appears to be the last moments of happiness together when he gifts her a motorcycle jacket that she can wear when they go for a ride on his bike. Little do our lovebirds know, that the slutty bimbo, err Daniela, has arrived and has spotted them together.

Julia decides to use the services of 411, instead of simply doing a Google (or in her case a Foogle) search to find out the number of the Montenegro offices. She gets the number, writes it down, then thinks about ripping up the paper with the number. She eventually makes the call, and Arturo clears his throat, to prepare himself to talk with Julia on the phone. [Side Note: It should be noted that when Julia made the call and talked to Arturo's secretary, she used her maiden name, Vallado, instead of her married named, Gomez Luna.]

A furious Eladio, accompanied by his main goon, Mr. Whatshisname, pay The Ratt a little visit, and this ain't no social call, let me tell you. Eladio bangs on the door and orders The Ratt to open up. The Ratt opens the door terrified, and Eladio forces his way in, not giving The Ratt a chance to scurry and hide in her rat hole. Eladio slaps her hard across the face and calls her out on her stupidity. [Side Note: It should be noted that some Ratt's aren't very smart, I guess.]

David and Regina ride off on his motorcycle, and don't see or hear, when Daniela races after them and calls out David's name. Daniela is pissed.

Oh, Eladio is furious with The Ratt for showing up at his office. Well, how was The Ratt suppose to know that his wifey would show up there. Nosy Aldo, who has heard all the commotion, opens his door to see what all the hullabaloo is about. But Mr. Whatshisname tells Aldo that there ain't nothing going on here. Eladio reminds The Ratt how he had told her over and over again that he wasn't going to risk what he had with his wife for anything. So now The Ratt will have to pay the consequences. He grabs The Ratt by her tail, err her hair, and tells her that she'll never model in this town again. In fact, she'll only be able to find a job as prostitute. A prostitute! And that's when The Ratt decides to pull out and use the "I'm pregnant" card. Eladio is left shocked and releases The Ratt. He thought that The Ratt was using protection and she states that even the contraceptives can fail at times. The Ratt tells Eladio that they'll have to get used to the idea of being parents. Oh no, Eladio ain't about to do that, in fact he wants The Ratt to get rid of that spawn. And that's when The Ratt gets on he ground and warps her arms over one of Eladio's legs. She begs him not to ask her to do that. He tells her to do it or else. The Ratt begs for forgiveness and swears that she didn't get pregnant on purpose. He makes it clear to her that she isn't about to ruin his plans, because if she does, well she dies. He orders her once again to get rid of the spawn and leaves. The Ratt is left knowing that she has to do something to get Eladio's forgiveness. Outside, Mr. Whatshisname has overheard the argument, and he offers his services to "do something" if Eladio wants. Eladio sprays that crap he always sprays in his mouth and tells Mr. Whatshisname that he'll let him know.

Arturo tells Julia that he'll write her another check. Julia doesn't want to send over her chauffeur to pick it up so he tells her that he'll send it over. He asks her how she's doing and she replies that she's doing well. She feels bad for having bothered him and he tells her that she never bothers. She tells him to take care and he tells her to take care as well.

Miguel and Consuelo chat. These two need to quit spending so much time together. They are really asking for someone to get the wrong idea. Rant over. Miguel and Consuelo are happy that things are going so well for Regina over in Queretaro. Miguel is aware of the problems just waiting to come when everyone finds out that Regina is dating a Gomez Luna. Changing the subject, Consuelo still feels bad over what she did yesterday, she has never been so angry with anyone, and never thought that a friend of hers could snatch away what she loves the most. She admits that she shouldn't have lowered herself and admits that the only thing she could think of as she went over to The Ratt's place was putting The Ratt in her place. Consuelo is determined to find out if what The Ratt told her is true. But she doesn't know what she should do to find out. So she asks Miguel what she should do. [Side Note: It should be noted that Miguel either made a face as if he was really thinking about what Consuelo should do or he made a face regretting having eaten spicy food.]

Gabriela and Franco have lunch. The lunch looks lame. Not that Gabriela cares. She's all smiles because her uncle Eladio has approved their relationship. Franco, surprisingly, is man enough to admit, that it was thanks to his madrina talking to his padrino, and not thanks to him talking to his padrino. Franco is glad that they'll be able to be seen in public together now. He tells Gabriela that he'll no longer be "The Gomez Luna Freeloader". Gabriela tells him that no one has ever seen him like "The Gomez Luna Freeloader." Franco says that he's not a part of the Gomez Luna clan, and if he wants to work more and more, it is so he could have something to offer her, so no one can say that he's a golddigger. She tells him to get those ideas out of his head because he has nothing to prove to her. Smooches.

As Daniela awaits for David and Regina return, she talks with a friend of hers on the phone. For some reason, Daniela seems to believe that Regina is "the slut". Daniela accepts that it was she, who told David to go after Regina, but she never thought he'd actually do it. She admits that she can't get David out her mind. She's determined to do what it takes to get her hands on David again. [Side Note: It should be noted that the title of "The Montenegro Slut" already belongs to Daniela.]

Nina ambushes Arturo when he's about to leave his office with the check in hand. She wants to have lunch with him but he claims that he has a business luncheon. OK then, well Nina wants to come along, but he tells her that she can't because it's about a serious business matter. Nina leans in for a kiss on the lips but Arturo gives her a "beso de amigos" (friendly kiss) on the cheek. He leaves. Nina immediately starts to snoop around Arturo's office when Erick the sleaze ball walks on in. Nina whines to her son that she came to have lunch with his dad but his dad had another commitment. Erick doesn't think Nina should be surprised, because work has always been more important to his dad. BUT, before he would drop everything when I'd come in to see him, Nina whines. Erick invites her out to lunch and she accepts because she's sick and tired of having to put with the bastardito (Miguel) and Consuelo. Erick the sleaze ball understands his mother. [Side Note: It should be noted that the friendly kiss that Arturo gave Nina on the cheek is a total snub to her.]

Eladio returns home. He asks Simona where Julia is. Simona doesn't know. Eladio gets mad at Simona because she never knows anything. Eladio kicks her out of the room. Simona races out. (LOL) Eladio calls up Efrain and finds out from him that Julia is at her foundation.

David and Regina return to the hotel. Daniela spots them and scurries to hide. Regina leaves to go and do something, and that's when Daniela ambushes poor David, and tries to get her saliva all over David, who recoils in horror not wanting her saliva on him. She tells him that she misses him. Well, he doesn't miss her AT ALL. He makes it clear to her that he's dating her sister Regina. Daniela laughs. Regina, who probably recognizes her sister's hyena laugh a mile away, starts to walk back towards them. Regina overhears when Daniela talks to David about comparing the two Montenegro sisters. Regina takes David's remark about her having nothing to do with Daniela, the wrong way, and believes that David really thinks that Daniela is the better Montenegro sister.

Arturo surprises Julia by showing up at her foundation with a beautiful white orchid. He locks the door to make sure no one interrupts them. Julia didn't think that he'd personally come over to deliver the check. He asks her for ten minutes of her time. There's so much that he has to tell her that he couldn't tell her before. She reminds him that she had asked him a long time ago not to look for her again. He knows and he respected her wishes despite not really wanting to. She asks him why he has come to see her and he tells her that she never gave him the opportunity to explain what had happened to him. He tells her that a love like theirs deserves an explanation.

Meanwhile, Eladio leaves the Gomez Luna mansion, and is quite in a hurry to make it over to the foundation, so he can see Julia.

David tries to explain. It's all a misunderstanding, he says. But Regina doesn't want to listen. And Daniela doesn't make things any better when she tells Regina that it was obvious that David would prefer her (Daniela) over her (Regina) because she (Regina) is so dull. David tries to get Daniela to shut her mouth up and Regina runs off. David is furious with Daniela. [Side Note: It should be noted that Daniela did a little twirl to show off her "stuff" when she stated that it was obvious that David would prefer her over Regina. It should also be noted that that there was a huge sigh of relief by some viewers when Daniela didn't shake her booty to show off her "stuff".]

Arturo explains to Julia that he doesn't want to harm Eladio. He knows that she knows him... She interrupts and tells him that many years ago she thought that she knew him, but the first surprise she got from him, was that he impregnated another woman. Arturo admits that it was the worst mistake that he had ever made because it cost him losing her. She wants him to leave and sees no point in him wanting to clear things up with her. Well, he thinks otherwise, and wants her to know exactly what happened. He explains that he married Susana, because it was the right thing to do, and not because he loved her. He tells Julia how Susana died during childbirth. She calls him out on not having wasted any time in going to console himself with another person. He tells her that he wanted to go and look for her but she had just gotten married and had given birth to her son and he didn't think he had a right to come into her life again and destroy her family. He tells her that if he didn't go and look for her then, it was because of those reasons. And he regrets it, because he needed her back then, and he needs her now as well.

David runs after Regina and drags her back over to where Daniela is. He tries to explain that if he said that she and Daniela were different it is because she (Regina) is worth it (and by that I guess he means that Regina is girlfriend material unlike slutty Daniela). Regina thinks it's pathetic for him to be comparing the two of them. He tells her that he's NOT comparing them. Regina tells David that they'll talk later, but David wants her to hear him out. Daniela gets in Regina's face and belittles Regina asking her if she really thought that someone like David could lay his eyes on someone like her. Regina tells Daniela that she did it to her again and that's she lucky that she's nothing like her. Regina leaves. Daniela blows David a kiss. David stares at her with disgust. [Side Note: It should be noted that once again, Daniela tried to get her saliva on David, but he rejected her, recoiling in horror, at the thought of having her slobber on him.]

Julia wants Arturo to continue keeping his word about not coming to see her again. She asks him to leave, but he doesn't want to leave, and he makes the big mistake of asking her if there is still something left over from the love that she felt for him.

David asks Daniela how come she's doing all this to her sister. Daniela doesn't think she's doing anything and is sure that David would have left Regina anyways when he realized how dull she is. David realizes that Daniela sees everything as a game and makes it clear to her that he's interested in Regina. He's going to clear things up with Regina.

Eladio arrives at the foundation and walks into Julia's office and finds... Julia crying at her desk. He can't stand to see her cry because of him. He tells her that he only loves her and is not with The Ratt. He admits that yes The Ratt got near him and tried to kiss him, but he rejected her. She takes him on his offer to go and be with David in Queretaro. She says that it will do her good to be with her son because she's so confused. He tells her that he'll do what she asks him. She tells him that she wants to go home and she leaves.

So Daniela really seems to think that David has the hots for her. Well, he doesn't, and the fact that he refuses to be kissed by her, should be a red flag to Daniela that he's not into her, along with him having told her that he's interested in Regina, of course.

Clara gets upset with Francisco because she believes that he threw away the lunch that she had brought for him. He explains that it was Franco who threw it away. He likes the lunch that she brought for him and she promises to bring him more of it. [Side Note: It should be noted that Francisco likes mayonnaise with his "Esquites" (whatever those are).]

David makes it clear to Daniela that he wants to be with Regina. He asks Daniela not to get near him ever again. He leaves. Daniela is really pissed off now.

Francisco gives Clara some gifts for Luisita. The topic of Doña Gisela comes up, and Francisco finds it strange that he was never notified about the monthly checks that Doña Gisela receives from the company.

David finds out that Regina has left the hotel.

Doña Gisela offers to take care of Luisita while Maribel, who isn't feeling well, rests. But Maribel doesn't trust Doña Gisela with her daughter anymore, after finding out about Doña Gisela's drinking. Doña Gisela denies the drinking. Maribel falls down. Doña Gisela wants to know what the heck is wrong with Maribel.

David finds out that Regina has returned home. He gets a call from Julia, who asks him if she can come to be with him in Queretaro. He asks her what's going on and she replies that nothing is going on. She just wants to spend time with him.

Arturo tells Agustin about how Julia kicked him out, with his white orchid, when he asked her if there was anything still left of the love she felt for him. Arturo gets TMI and tells Agustin about how he could see himself reflected in Julia's eyes. Agustin doesn't want to hear the details. Agustin tells Arturo about having to cover up for him with Nina. Agustin hates covering up, by the way. Arturo tells Agustin to calm down and not to get mad. Arturo is sure that he'll get another chance to speak to Julia. When he asked her, the indecent question, he could see in her eyes that she still loves him.

Gracias, Mauricio.

Daniela is running true to form, as we should expect. Regina is on to her game, but is still suffering the slings and arrows of her mother's contempt for her. Not even a genius IQ can erase that feeling.

So MonserratT is playing the pregnancy card. I wonder whether this is true. Presumably she fooled around with Eladio long enough to know that he will be a dangerous enemy. All this time I've thought she looked like a dumb slut and now we know she is dumb as well as a slut.

Julia has to be very upset that she has wasted 25 years of her life with a man who is treating her like garbage. However, she also needs to know that he doesn't treat anyone else any better. He is completely incapable of loving anyone.

Nina snooping in Arturo's appointment book is beyond the pale. Has she been doing this for all 20+ years of marriage? It must be stressful to live in that permanent state of anxiety.

Mauricio- What a treat to have this wonderful recap first thing in the morning. I enjoyed all your side comments.

Agustin should slap Art on the head and tell him to snap out of it! Both he and Julia are married. Why's he dragging up the past?

The Ratt only got a brief reprieve from Eladio. Probably just because he doesn't want her dead body found with a baby with his DNA inside her. What's her next move after that pregnancy lie?

What David said: "Regina is NOTHING like you."
What David meant: "Regina is NOTHING like you...you (Dani) are a bitchy skank, and she is AMAZING and the woman I want to spend my whole life with."
What Regina heard: "[I compared you two sisters, like you and I plotted in Cancun, and found that] Regina is NOTHING like you...you (Dani) are hot and fun, and Regina is a dull nerd."

Wow, Mauricio – from the title on, this recap is complete, accurate and funny as hell. In short, it is perfect. Thanks so much!

And a belated thanks to AuntyAnn for Wednesday's splendid recap (I'm just getting caught up now).

"Girl trouble" - hah!

Mauricio, this was excellent from start to finish.

"Well, that's enough for Arturo, to allow Daniela to head on over to Queretaro, so I guess he was born yesterday" made me smile. Loved the notes but my favorite was " [Side Note: It should be noted that Franco arrived with a gift for Gaby, and it looked like chocolates to me, but they weren't Ferrero Rocher. #Fail]". You nailed it.

Eladio's obsession with Julia and her effect on him continues to unfold. When he was in her good graces, her bestowing only a sweet smile on him resulted in his surprise and delight. Her scorn and rejection now wounds him to the core. With his single minded purpose to control and possess her, I do not know how he is able to devote any time or energy to business. Julia does not realize her power...

"Marinita, or whatever her name is, was seen slithering past Eladio, which would indicate that she had overheard the entire argument between Julia and Eladio". Franco will surely be quickly informed of this latest transgression.

There is nothing to indicate that Arturo harbors any love for his wife. Not that I blame him. She is vain, vapid and shallow. But I also see no reason why Julia should be attracted to Arturo at this point. It's been pointed out he is not a good father in many respects and a reluctant husband at best. He lost Julia because he was unfaithful. Julia is still remembering the person she loved, but he is a different person now, immersed in his work, distanced from his children. I'm not sure how this love will be recaptured.

Monse has made a grave error which cannot be repaired. Eladio's fury will be compounded when he realizes she was also with Erick. Her time in town has expired.

Thank you Mauricio!

Diana

Wonderful Mauricio!! Love all your "Side Notes". Great insights.

I'm frustrated we are having to watch the trite clichéd good sister/bad sister crap with David in between. Of course Daniela has been groomed to be a skank-ho by the expert herself and she has that "how can anyone refuse me" attitude because she thinks the only thing a woman should have to catch a man is a figure and use sex as her weapon. And Cliché no. 2 -over hear a conversation and take away all the wrong meaning. GRRRRR

I was rather amazed we didn't see Eladio go ballistic and threatening with Julia. I was a bit concerned there when he bursts into her office. And the sniffing...seems the guys we aren't to root for are always sniffers. Lordy.

Mannequin is a dead woman walking. Bet she tries to pass that poor baby off on Erick now and can get her money from him.

Off to get some groceries before the snow moves in.

Daisynjay

I will thank you in advance , Mauricio. I am going out for breakfast with friends, so I do not have time to read the recap before I go. I did not see this episode because hub and I were at a Three Dog Night concert instead of watching Eladio smoulder and Art pine and Dani and Mony plan and Julia cower and Joshua and Rick...well just being big jerks. Looking forward to reading about the ongoing crazy.

Loved the Ms. Insensitive quip...Clara blathering on about her incipient romance to a woman who only has a short time to live (plus a righteous headache). Not cool.

Like everyone else, loved the side notes, particularly about Daniela. Continue to be mystified about why we're supposed to see Arturo as "good". "The right thing to do" is NOT to have sex with a woman you're not in love with...especially when you're engaged to someone else. So he reluctantly marries her, now that she has a bun in the oven, and breaks his fiancées heart. How does this qualify him as a hero?

Scant material to root for here.

Hope you get groceries before the snow flies, Daisynjay. Living in Cleveland or Chicago is not for sissies. So far weather here in Columbus is crisp and cold but clear. Perfect football weather.

Gracias Mauricio

I slept through most of this, so really appreciate the fantastic recap.

It doesn't make sense that Eladio would let Julia leave, he is such an abusive control freak & WE know he hasn't really changed.

Just to clarify a small point – Julia said she would be going to Querétaro for a few days. That's what Eladio agreed to. Apparently he has her on a leash that extends that far.

I had a different impression of Clara than you guys. It is Maribel who is always trying to deflect attention from her illness. She asked Clara how it was going with Francisco – she wanted to be distracted and Clara did her desperate best to give something else to think about.

No, JudyB, not for sissies at all. Stay warm, dry and well-fed, Daisynjay!

NovelaMaven- I had the same take on the Clara-Maribel convo. Maribel wants to be surrounded by life, and her family and friends. She wants to hear about Clara's crush and to encourage her to go for it. She does not want to be reminded that she's sick.

Glad to hear it, Vivi. Clara is one of the very few "good" characters at this point so I really want to like her. (And so far, I do.)

Thanks for the clarification on Clara's motivation, NovelaMaven and Vivi. I haven't watched this yet (have learned watching these late at night leads to dark thoughts) so I'll enjoy it sometime this weekend, when I'm not rooting for the Buckeyes.

Thank you Mauricio, you have a nice writing style, easy to read and understand.

I think I might have to jump off this TN. I absolutely despise shows where there is a misunderstanding between the main couple because the slut wants to break them up and the protagonist always believes the worst and won't listen to reason. It's La Sombra del pasado all over again, complete with the same protagonist, and the same misunderstanding. Ugh!

This is Monserrat's opportunity to have Erick be the daddy now.

WOW!!! Mauricio, you were definitely at your finest with this recap. It was great from beginning to end.

Your sides were nearly a laugh a minute---despite the rat's squeaks---He wasn't born yesterday. Well I guess that he was born yesterday.---The chocolates weren't Ferrero Rocher #fail.---She started to squeak, er mouth off---her sister's hyena laugh-----You wrote them so you know that there are more but I thought that these were a few of the best.

Vivi---You explained Regina's reaction/answer perfectly. Yes, a BIG misunderstanding.

Can't wait till Monday but back to the last few nights for now. Mauricio, you surprise me. Back in Lo Imperdonable you were OUTRAGED at Pablo when all that he did was give out of control Mariana a little push to get her off of him. The push or shove wasn't even enough to cause Mariana to loose her balance or even fall down. Forward to Montserrat in this novela. Over the last couple of episodes Montse
has gotten some very ROUGH treatment. She has been rushed, pushed, shoved, thrown around, choked, slapped and manhandled several times---but not a word of this mistreatment from you. Mauricio, I'm perplexed. Is your silence towards the ROUGH treatment because Montse is more of a bad woman than Mariana was or what?

And speaking of David's treatment by Daniela---I know what David could do to wake Daniela up and keep her away from him and Regina foreva but I don't think that I would be able to get your approval or that of the Board of Directors.

If Julia really does move out, she going to need to find work somewhere.

NovelaMaven---Good catch with the Maribel/Clara conversation.

Love it Mauricio. clever the err, Side Note

"Eladio tells Julia that he's not interested in no Ratt"

"Nina ambushes Arturo"

Golly, and Michelle R was doing really good but throw another woman in the mix and she goes all Aldonza on David.

JS doesn't pull off lovestruck boy with crush very well

Julia - no checks, cash or PayPal buddy

Montserrat - rat trap

Eladio - damn, I signed a two year wireless contract

David - hmmmm, she is taller otherwise you both look good scantly clad in heels

Arturo - got this in the bag, I saw doormat in her eyes

Regina - onion thin skin

Miguel - moon of planet Consuelo

Daniela - I'm pregnant

Tofie, from you lips to God's ears, lol, about Daniela becoming pregnant. Wouldn't that be a repeat of Arturo and Julia's lives.

Thanks, Mauricio. Absolutely fabulous recap.

Hopefully Regina will cool down once she talks it over with Miguel and Consuelo.

Too bad Julia never caught Eladio sooner with another woman because she sure got a lot of fight in her after that.

Monteseratt thinks she's way smarter than she really is. Her "pregnancy" is a big fat dumb lie. The day before she was thought-bubbling about getting knocked up by Erick to best Consuelo.

Funny - Eladio upsetting Simone so badly that she ran the wrong way and he had to motion for her to go in the opposite direction to exit the room. Intentional or blooper?

I'm thinking about this too much, but did Arturo forget to sign the check or something for Julia to call him?

Thanks so much for your great recap Mauricio! s others have mentioned your asides were hilarious. Also thanks for your recap from last week too.

The Ratt is really dumb to play with Eladio and her "pregnancy" could/most likely will get her killed like Vivi guessed earlier this week. And NovelaMaven and Vivi for the clarification on the conversation with Clara and Maribel.

It will be interesting to see how the writers cause Julia to fall for Art. As Diana, JudyB, and others have mentioned, there is nothing about him or his character that would compel us to root for him. At this point, the only thing I can think of is Art rescuing her or David from a life and death situation (aka Eladio on the warpath).

I know she's been doing this for over 20 years but hear Nina call Miguel a bastard to Erick again makes me think of how much Art failed Miguel. We know Nina is a horrible person but to call her stepson that for decades is wicked. And the fact that Art only spoke up last week, I guess the writers want to see he is changing but too little too late.

I got behind last week so thanks to Cynderella, UA, AuntyAnn, and NM (for last week's) recaps.

The entire cast of characters is worthless, self-centered totaling lacking in character & above all not even interesting, bad writing. The actors are doing the best they can with a mierda script. So far it doesn't equal FELS or CI in being the worst, but it is sure trying. I just hang in for FC.

Thanks for the well wishes. Got the groceries, hit the pet store, the organic market and of course, last but not least, the wine shop. I'm good to go. Mother Nature can now do her thing. So far we have freezing rain then turning to snow---that's always worse. Lay down that nice slick surface and then snow over it.

tofie, your lists always delight, but "Eladio - damn, I signed a two year wireless contract" had me in a tired, uncontrollable giggle. I can just him thinking that when Julia left the office.

Judy, the only reason I think Arturo is coming off as "the food guy" is that Eladio is so much more volatile, sneaky and was abusive of his wife. My guess is that as Arturo falls back in with Julia, her love will make him start to look at the mistakes he made and try to make things right with his kids, business and business partner, etc. He's going to be our redeemable character.

I do so want Daniela to just fall through a hole somewhere. Heaven help she pulls the pregnant card. That would just be lazy writing then. Not sure I could stomach that. Sooooo tired of that plot line.

Daisynjay

Ok - tired and typing on a Kindle. Dangerous. Meant Arturo was the "good guy"...but who knows, maybe he'll leave his business and start a food cart. HEEHEE

Daisynjay

Hey, we knew what you meant, Daisynjay. Glad you got the crucial shopping done. Sorry about Purdue this year. Ohio State just got their season ruined..at home and Michigan State without their star quarterback. Doesn't get much worse than that. AT least I got to watch in the cozy comfort of the family room. Feel sorry for the fans who sat out in the freezing rain and wind for that.

"And the fact that Art only spoke up last week, I guess the writers want to see he is changing but too little too late".

Exactly Karen! Allowing his wife and other children to hurt and humiliate Miguel was unconscionable. And you are right Karen - Nina is wicked.

Diana

If Miguel is constantly hurt and humiliated by his family, he is a grown man so why doesn't he leave?

I too noticed the housekeeper running the wrong way but I had thought that she just couldn't think straight after being yelled at by Eladio. He could mess up anybody.

Tofie---rat trap and cash or PayPal had me laughing.

the gringo

Gringo- Miguel doesn't really seem to give a damn anymore. But the fact that his siblings and stepmother have been getting away with treating him like this his whole life, and Art is just NOW noticing, says a lot about how little he's been paying attention to his family. Remember again that it's cultural to not move out until it's to start your own family. Not really an expectation as it is here.

I also have to believe that Nina was clever enough for a long time to not allow this behavior in front of Arturo. I said a couple of weeks ago that it's possible that the servants were hired by her and are loyal to her and therefore haven't ratted her out. Wicked stepmothers have historically gotten away with stuff like this in tales through the ages because of husbands who work their butts off and travel on business. Miguel probably had a nanny to protect him before Nina was in the picture and who knows what happened after that. This information may be forthcoming.

Arturo certainly must be feeling guilty for any sense of relief he may have experienced when Miguel's mother died and he thought to pursue Julia x days after the funeral. This may also have distanced him from Miguel. However, I doubt that he actually allowed Nina to call Miguel a bastard to his face. This behavior in Erick and Daniela may not have begun until they were old enough to obey her if she said "Don't do this in front of your father."

He may have caught them in the act once, which would be enough to stop them if there was any risk of being caught again.

We don't know if Miguel went away to boarding school, either. He might have requested that at some point and even gone away to college, where I'm sure he was the perfect nerd.

It is a safe bet that Nina wanted her children to be exactly like her and she is more than a little offended that Regina isn't in the mold. More to say on that at a later time.

Hi all. I have been following this novela as much as I have been able but haven’t been able to comment before.

I am SO glad that the lunatic, unhinged Eladio we saw in the beginning episodes has disappeared. It was ridiculous. FC plays the romantic suitor so much better even if it’s not for real. And, I think he can do well as a cruel manipulator too. The rage we saw should be saved for real setbacks.

I agree with the comments that it seems as if everyone has been sleeping for 20 years. All of a sudden Eladio figures out that being nice to Julia might work better? Julia wouldn’t expect (and be glad) that Eladio had a mistress when there was no sex for 20 years? Art just realized that Nina is not the sweet, loving mom to all his kids like he thought she was?
I don’t believe it but I will accept it to go with the flow.

I have enjoyed David and Regina as a couple and want to see more.

Art is not being a good guy at all by pursuing Julia this way.

I think Eladio lost one set of knots in his tie when he started to be nice to Julia. Not 100% sure about that but I’m pretty sure.

Mauricio, thanks for the recap. It was great and gave me quite a few laughs. I liked your (side note) theme!
Cynderella, Urban, AuntyAnn and NovelaMaven—thank you as well for all the enjoyment you have brought with each of your recaps. I’m sorry I can’t comment as frequently as I would like.

Barbara

Thanks for the recap, Mauricio!

I don't see the difference between Eladio and Manuel from Amor Real. Manuel was just as obnoxious and mean. He just turned nice to his bride.

If FC doesn't act crazy, we will root for him and not for Art. At this point, I'm not on Art's side either. I don't see what Nina has done to make him suddenly hate her. She's self centered, but so is everyone else in the world. She indulges her children, but so does everyone else in the world. She manipulates her husband with sex....now come on married or divorced women....you can't tell me that you have never tried to influence your husband when he's a little horny.

When you "influence" your husband's decisions, you might not get a car or a dress like Nina, you might get to your choice of the movie or the restaurant. You might get him to forget the credit card bill. Everyone has done it...a little bit...at one time. She was like that when he married her and she will continue to be like that.

Love your down-to-earth defense of Nina and her strategy Cynderella. I remember my brother telling me that every time he was having an argument with his significant other, if she took off her shirt, he completely forgot what he was mad about. Problem resolved.

Nina's been giving value for money all these years, but now that he's got a yen for Julia again, Arturo's not interested.

Cynderella,

"If FC doesn't act crazy, we will root for him and not for Art"

Sounds like a plan!

Barbara

Hmm. Some couples actually like each other... and not all intimacy is transactional.
:-)

I'm not saying the a woman dislikes her husband, but their are time when you have to negotiate with him. My grandmother used to tell us to ask a man something "in the cool of the evening" when his belly is full and when he's been relaxed. In don't think that all intimacy is transactional, but sometimes you have to reason with a man in different ways.

Cynderella...Just surfed in to check the recent comments , and I see that you are giving away secrets! Influencing husbands with prepositions, Heh! Nina seems to have lost her mojo, no?

Susanlynn, that's why I think Artie is being a jerk. She's not doing anything crazy. It might just be how they communicate. He's never at home; he's always working so she's probably a neglected wife. Mind you, I don't like her, but I don't understand why HE suddenly dislikes her other than he is going through a mid-life crises and wants someone else's wife. In my opinion, Art is being the bad spouse right now.

If tomorrow, you came home and your husband stopped wanting to have sex with you and rejected you every night...wouldn't you be a little grumpy and suspicious. If he's not impotent, I'd be looking for clues of the other woman too.

Hell yeah..Grumpy, suspicious, and angry. I csn be a little jelly. #sorrynotsorry Hey, I didn't like the way the waitresses were flirting with him this morning. I do not like Nina who is a nasty , vapid social climber, but I also do not like insipid, sleepy Art Van Winkle. In fact, there are only a couple people that I can stand in this whole novela. Whatever happened to the really great novelas that I first fell in love with ?

Good recap Mauricio. The only part of this
episode I like is with eladio and Julia, he seemed genuinely serious about his wife "could it be that he's falling in loooove" with her again? He should really be careful he could ruin his own plan by falling in love with his wife. And The rats spawn could be ericks. Poor spawn.

BTW, Niecie—in answer to your question, I think Arturo's name for Julia's foundation was written incorrectly on the check.

Barbara

Thanks, CorgiMom. I was confused when Julia was going to tear up the check instead of getting it corrected. Her charity must be swimming in dough.

What's bugging me about Art is he wants a safety cushion. It seems he'd break up with Nina only if he can get Julia.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm glad that you all enjoyed the recap. I thought it was a nice episode and looking forward to seeing what will happen tonight.

Gringo- With Pablo and Mariana on LI, what bothered me about the shove was that it felt out of character for him. With Eladio and Erick being violent with The Ratt, it does bother me to see the violence against woman, but they are both bad so it doesn't seem out of character for them to behave that way with her.

I can't believe I missed Simona running the wrong way. I would have liked to include that part in the recap.

I've really been loving all the recaps while trying to catch up with this show.

"Arturo - got this in the bag, I saw doormat in her eyes; Miguel - moon of planet Consuelo"
tofie these comments were brilliant!

I can't stand any of the Montenegro family. Okay Regina and Miguel are lovely but even they can make my blood boil sometimes. Like in todays episode with Regina. And Miguel for never standing up for himself. I know he's probably tried but still..the underdogs always make me root for them and be angry when they don't fight back.

I find it hard to believe that Erick is Ninas son. Their personalities are on point but Nina looks the same age as her son..and as I googled the actor who plays Erick.. turns out Favela is only a YEAR older!! What a bad casting choice.

That kind of casting choice is nothing new and it gets me, too, because this actor doesn't resemble either of the actors playing his parents. The two daughters definitely look like Nina and Arturo are their parents (although most of us think that Arturo isn't Daniela's sperm donor) and we don't know what Miguel's mother looked like. Franco looks like the son of Caridad and Eladio.

Mauricio,
Extremely late to the party, but not too late to say thank you for the extremely entertaining and detailed recap.

I really do not like Dani. She is so full of herself. Regina needs to have better self esteem. But what should we expect when she has grown up with a mother that sides with someone like Dani. I hope that David and Regina can talk things out. Now besides their parents being against their relationship, they will have Dani (and probably Joshua too) trying to pull them apart.

So sorry I missed the conversation this weekend.
Thanks again Mauricio.

Hasta Pronto

Mauricio--
Wonderfully entertaining recap. Loved the asides as well. It helps me not to take the recap too seriously and to see the humor behind the words. Glad you added some visuals there (Daniela not being able to strut her stuff). I'm behind, so I have this episode and tonight's to look forward to watching.

UA--You and all of us are expecting a logical degree of communication between the script and casting folks for a novela. Criss-crossed babies and wrong parents? Hard to believe it's going to get any more complicated, but who knows, we can only wait and see. I think it's more likely casting got a general description of the character, casting call went out and Erick read well. Maybe he was cast before Nina. For instance (at Susanlynn) Outlander cast Jamie right away, Claire came along many weeks later at the last moment, but what a pair. Kudos to their casting dept. for all of the characters.)

Musing over the "excuse" for getting pregnant when not convenient....it used to be that there were no reasons given, it just happened and the resulting baby was dealt with. Now we're more likely to get the--I thought you were using protection....sometimes it fails...excuse. Someone must have finally clued the script-writers to update their handbook on unwanted pregnancies, haha.

True. MonserratT would not want to get pregnant because of what that would do to her career as a model. I'm surprised Nina was even willing to do so and ruin her figure. She must spend at least two hours a day working out.

Nina got away with it because Arturo is basically a good man. Eladio isn't, though, and MonserratT should know better.

Nina needed to get/stay pregnant to keep her hold on Arturo. No way was Arturo ever going to leave her with minor children.

Montserrat is not pregnant (yet) ... she's only trying to buy time / try to get a meal ticket.

Arturo's wife & children are only reflections and by products of Arturo. I think he's awakening to that and he's not liking what he sees :

1) Nina is silly & frivolous. There's no real need for Arturo to stay with Nina....all the kids are grown and she's not likely to willingly have more. Arturo must be thinking if he wants to spend the rest of his life with a vapid, silly birdbrain like Nina.

2) Arturo allowed Nina, Erick & Daniela to punish Miguel for taking Julia away from him. They get to be the bad guys while Arturo stood by on the sidelines. Now that Arturo is waking up, he's seeing what he's allowed Nina, Erick & Daniela to do for decades and has decided it's time to value his son. Unfortunately that's going to put him at odds with Nina, Erick & Daniela.

3) Erick is just like Nina, but with a Y chromosome. He likes the glitz & glamour of power lunches & boardroom intrigues but not actual hard work. Arturo sees what a useless fool he's produced & wants him to be like he was at Arturo's age. Arturo is hoping cutting off Erick's funds & making him set up a new household with Consuelo will make him more responsible but it's too late.

4) Regina is Arturo. I think part of the reason he's defying Nina so much on forcing Regina to marry Joshua is because he was forced to marry Susana (and I suspect) Nina. He doesn't want the same fate for Regina.

5) Daniela is Nina Jr. Only thing that separates her from Nina is she was born with a pedigree & Nina wasn't. It's too late to instill good values into Daniela...only thing you can do with her is try to minimize the damage.

I,moving to need Miguel, Consuelo & Regina to raise up their self esteem levels. That's the only way they'll be able to fight back against Nina, Erick & Daniela.
