Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #29 Fri 10/2/15 (Mex 39) Fifi's FREE!

Ciao, Muchacha Peeps!   Tonight's events are very straightforward and simple.  Fiorella is freed from prison and here is a summary of how it unfolded.

Pedro examined the security tapes while Dante apparently lied about having done so and discovered that Fiorella entered Eloisa's room empty handed and came out with the drops in her hands.  She was only doing what she was told, retrieving the drops from Eloisa's room.  Pedro is ecstatic!

Benito makes a pitifully comic effort to throw his (imagined) weight around and then bribe Fiorella's jailers.  They laugh at him and point to the camera which has recorded these lame efforts, which could land him in jail.  Vitto shows up with his lawyer as well and the Police seem amused at this retinue of devoted would be Fiorella-liberators.  They should fuggedaboutit!  There were too many witnesses to Fiorella's crime.  There is no bail!

Freddie continues to work on demonizing Fiorella in Eloisa's malleable mind while the sisters weep, Fiorella in jail and Gianna in their bedroom, praying with a Saint Biagio card in her hand.  At this very moment, Julieta is in the throes of her own agony.  She has a nightmare in which a little girl is alone in a wooded area on a foggy night.  She is crying for her mother!  Julieta is very shaken by this nightmare and Sergio comforts her.  Who is the abandoned child?

Pedro runs to Gianna with the news of the liberating footage he has found.  Gianna is thrilled and hugs Pedro, remarking they should call him Sr. Dulce because he has been so good to them!  Pedro tells Gianna he is going to talk to Julieta to get her to retract the charges against Fiorella!

While Pedro goes off to make his plea to Julieta, the Angeles are having a leisurely breakfast.   Sonia brings in a sobbing Gianna.  Somehow Gianna is not cheered by Eloisa's generous reassurance that though her sister is a attempted murderess, she can stay at El Rancho as long as she needs or wants to.  Quina arrives with a big white envelope and presents it to Gianna.  It is her clearance to study in Mexico!  Gianna cries at the contrast in her luck and the plight of Fiorella.  Gael gets up to enfold her in his arms and comfort her.  Ahhhh! everything is better in Gael's arms!  She's going to study medicine to help people who have heart ailments like hers.  Roxy throws rocks to mock Gianna but Granny shuts her up.  Much later there is a brief scene where Roxi and Sonia snipe at each other about not going into El Corporativo and their shared laziness.  Why should they go in when neither Pedro nor Gael are there but helping las italianas instead!

Diana is doing her own demonizing of Fiorella with Vittorio but, unlike Eloisa, his mind is anything but malleable.  She interrupts his consultation with his lawyer to insist that Fiorella must be guilty since she's in prison.  The lawyer agrees:  it's next to impossible to get someone out of jail when they're guilty!  (Jeez, this is Vitto's crack lawyer?  More like smokin' crack!)  Vitto runs Diana off to tend to matters in the restaurant.  She throws over her shoulder that they should remember the blind woman in the hospital.

Pedro is with the blind woman in the hospital and Sergio and Anibal.  He describes what he found in the security footage and asks Julieta to retire the charges. Anibal thinks Fiorella planned the whole thing while Sergio accepts her innocence right away.  Juieta needs time to think!  Meanwhile, in the pokey, Adela brings comfort, food, and words of encouragement to a disparaging Fiorella who cries hopelessly for herself and Gianna.  Adela assures her Gianna will be fine, she must have patience.

Patience.  Eloisa counsels Aitana to have patience with Pedro.  She must be chill, accepting and supportive of Pedro and not get wigged out over his efforts to help a mere employee.  She is, after all, Aitana De la Riva Palma!

Anibal and Sergio take "time to think" to mean "time to be swayed" as Anibal plays the devil on the left shoulder and Sergio, the angel on the right.  Anibal:  Don't retire the charges!  The whole Angeles family will be in danger!  Sergio:  Accuse an innocent person and the real perpetrator will be free to continue to wreak havoc!   It's not easy but Julieta decides to withdraw the charges.  Sergio and Anibal witness her declaration with a signature before a notary public and the deal is done.  She even asks to see Fiorella.  Pedro promises to bring her in.

Pedro goes to fetch Fiorella at the police department.    She enters the public hallway and they gaze at each other in a long moment of anticipation before Fiorella runs to his waiting arms.  They separate to confirm the reality of the moment and then embrace again before getting the heck away from the jailhouse!

Vitto and his lawyer arrive at the police station.  Vitto is vexed that Fiorella was released without his knowledge.  It was Pedro's responsibility, as her employer, to receive her once she was freed.  Hmph!  Vitto will see about that!

Back at El Rancho Julietta has spoken to Eloisa and told her of the withdrawal of charges.  Freddie is sticking to Eloisa like white on rice to make sure Eloisa has the "proper" perspective on things.  Eloisa tells Freddie about Pedro's findings and asks pointed questions of Freddie about the uncontaminated eye drops she found, Dante's supposed review of the security tapes and comes to the conclusion that someone planted the acid drops in her room and she is the intended victim!  The cynical, conniving and hypocritical Freddie wonders aloud WHO could possible hate Eloisa so!?

Freddie wastes no time and orders Dante to claim to find a bottle of acidic drops in Ramiro's car.  He's the perfect patsy:  everybody knows how pissed he is at being fired and the old lady is starting to get angry at Dante for not finding what Pedro did.

Back at the hospital, Julieta declines to talk to Fiorella, she's confused and the whole thing is still too painful.  Fiorella waits outside to go in to see Julieta.  Anibal takes this opportunity to berate Fiorella and declare he still thinks she's guilty.

In the kitchen of the employee quarters it's a warm and cuddly scene as Gael and Gianna sit at the laptop pouring over college prep stuff.   Simoneta is a smiling presence in the background.  Benito's turn to be vexed.  Sra. Sonia wants him to take her to the drugstore.  Sonia deserves no suspense.  Later we hear her talking to someone on the phone, Fabio, I think.  She hangs up, examines the pregnancy test stick in her hand and from her look of glassy-eyed doom, we know the verdict.

Pedro and Fifi finally arrive at El Rancho.  They get out of the SUV, embrace, smile, and embrace again.  Fiorella thanks Pedro and they fall into each other's arms again and  flow softly into the embrace, Fiorella snuggling her face into Pedro's shoulder.  They breathe in deeply, absorbing the comfort of one another's arms.  Eeeeerk!  It's Granny Eloisa who is notably cold and dismissive of Fiorella, sending her back to the employee's quarters and ordering Pedro to follow her to the big house!

In the kitchen, Fifi is greeted with joy by Gigi and Fifi even thanks Benito warmly for all he and his parents did for her and she returns the Adela's tote bag.  Roxi creeps up, takes in the happy gathering and slinks away, unseen.  Later in their bedroom Fiorella gushes about how Pedro always believed in her and that she owes him her freedom.  Awwww, goes Gianna!  Pedro is helping Fiorella like Gael is helping her!  Fifi has a decidedly cute maternal air as she sends Gigi back to the kitchen to continue her work with Gael!

Pedro meets with Granny, with malignant appendage Freddie still close by.  Pedro brushes off Eloisa's attempts to scold him for abandoning El Corporativo to tend to Fiorella.  He couldn't turn his back on her.  She was innocent, she IS innocent and his review of the security tapes convinces him of that and one more important fact:  There is someone in the house who wants to do her harm.  The ever-scheming Freddie states that she was just thinking the same thing.  Dante enters at that moment with the other bottle of killer eye drops from hell.  Granny recalls through words and flashback Ramiro's bursting into her bedroom and again crashing dinner the other night and his threatening words, ". . .at your age you should be closing your eyes for ever!"  Pedro remembers that he had spoken up for Ramiro and can't believe he'd do such a thing.  Oh, an angry man is capable of anything, Freddie offers.  Pedro didn't know about either incident and is sufficiently impressed by this dramatic turn of events that he accepts the story.

Later, Aitana has finally managed to have an audience with Pedro.  Eloisa pops in just for the purpose of letting Pedro know that Vittorio is on the grounds walking in the garden with his beloved, Fiorella.  Pedro is visibly disappointed.  Eloisa suggests Pedro and Aitana do the same.  Granny finally leaves.  Pedro apologizes for ditching Aitana before their dinner date the previous day.  Aitana seems to go down on one knee.  She declares how happy she is that Fiorella is going to marry the man of her dreams and begs him to give HER the chance to show him that they can be together.  She strokes his face as if it's the lamp of a genie who can make it so.

At this very moment in the gardens of El Rancho, Vitto presents Fiorella with a diamond ring which she allows him to put on her finger despite saying that she can't accept it.  The ring goes with a proposal.  He's waited all his life for her.  He can't stand to have her so far away and at such great risk.  Look what just happened to her!  "You could have ended up in prison.  I am responsible for you.  I'm going to take you from this house right away, this very afternoon!"

So, we start the weekend with our lovers finding joy in each other's arms and being propositioned by rivals!  How will they react?  What will their answers be?  Hang out with me on our Italian-themed Patio this weekend with strains of your favorite musica Italiana wafting through the air and let's have at it!

Ciao, y'all! A kinda quiet show after a choppy and eventful week. If you haven't seen it, check out Urban's weekend discussion as well; it's an homage to our little dramedy and all things Italiano!

Lila, I breathed a sigh of relief that there were no further dastardly deeds. At least for this evening. There have been far too many this week, haven't there?

It's late but I am feeling refreshed from reading your bright, optimistic and cheerful recap. What a treat...

There were far too many excellent lines to quote but "the Police seem amused at this retinue of devoted would be Fiorella-liberators", "...Freddie continues to work on demonizing Fiorella in Eloisa's malleable mind" and "...malignant appendage Freddie" were among my favorites.

"Gael gets up to enfold her in his arms and comfort her. Ahhhh, everything is better in Gael's arms!" How true! They have such sweet chemistry! However, I do admit I have a nagging feeling that Gi does still harbor some feelings for Benito. I wonder if he will continue to be a second tier character who alas, never gets the girl!

"Sergio accepts her innocence right away" made Sergio continue to rise in my estimation. Has he left Julieta's side? He seems smitten and loyal. Qualities that are endearing and enduring. I can say with utter certainty that Julieta does not deserve him! At least at the present time.

Pedro was so excited to have discovered the truth. He and Fiorella hugging in quiet relief and deep emotion was so sweet. What a shame Eloisa ruined the moment. If Pedro did have any inclination Eloisa would accept Fiorella, surely he has seen that will not occur.

And now Vito wants to take Fiorella away. Immediately! Oh no...Let's hope Fiorella has her wits about her and refuses.

Thank you Lila!

Diana

LILA, you made my Friday night with your great recap. Thank you! The episode mostly revolved around Fifi's get-out-of-jail-free card, but I think we are also seeing the thawing of Dante. He was trying to stick up for her a little with Eloisa.

Julieta's horrible flashback to the little abandoned wandering girl crying for her mama really gave me the creeps. On the other hand, the sight of Pedro in that skin-tight white shirt is permanently burned onto my retinas (in a good way).

Every scene that has Gael in it is now officially my favorite scene. How come I never noticed him in those early episodes?

J in Oregon

Grazie, amica mia, Diana! Yes, this was a calmer episode and easy to summarize. Agree with you that Gi may still have feelings for Benito which she ought to dismiss after that face-sucking she witnessed. More than that, Gael saved her from a certain violent sexual assault and has secured her transfer of credits and clearance to study in Mexico. We know he ain't perfect but he clearly cares for and respects her. Hopefully she sees that better now since she compared Gael to Sr. Pietro!

Diana, don't you love the few love and affection scenes we have? I try to convey the sweetness and emotional nuance of the moment and love your appreciation of them. That's what brings us back to these stories, isn't it? Alas, it is a schtick of this story that these moments between Pedro and Fiorella are ALWAYS interrupted. Doh!

And yep, Fiorella has been freed and Vitto wants to take her to a different kind of prison! Hmph! He's waited all his life for her! Yah! Cause he had to wait for her grandmother, mother, and then for her to be born! Crusty old bastard!

J in O! Mi amica, mille grazie:

the sight of Pedro in that skin-tight white shirt is permanently burned onto my retinas (in a good way).

Giiiiirrrrl, Pedro's joy and that white shirt is one mean combination and rewind-worthy! He was FINE last night, wasn't he? Ummmm! My man does "Ecstatic" very well doesn't he?

And Gael. Lord, those eyes! That face! He is one beautiful man. It breaks my heart to see him the way he was after he took those drugs and before he had that seizure. Too eerily real but last night, like Pedro, he shown!

Yes, people, I am unabashedly about the fine male figure and the love: it makes the dastardly deeds go down easier! We've GOT to have balance to the slimy and smug Federica!

Grazie tanto, Lila, for this recap. There's enough going on this this tale that we're never going to be at a standstill.

I don't feel sorry for Sonia at all; if you're stupid enough to not take precautions there will be consequences. What I am wondering about is whether Assvaldo actually raped her within 48 hours of her first assignation with Fabio. Where is Maury Povich when we need him?

This whole clan is a nest of vipers. Does Pedro even have a clue about this? He knows how lazy some of them are but what about their greed?

Send Gael to rehab; he's the only one worth saving out of this lot. And who was responsible for not allowing Joaquina to raise Roxana? If that was Maximo, he made a very bad call.

Hey guys, you know what? Freddie's Dad WAS duped, robbed, and murdered by all appearances. Maybe a potassium chloride-induced heart attack. We don't know for sure if Gabriel had a natural or provoked heart attack but I find Freddie's position very interesting. Now, I am convinced Eloisa knew none of this, obviously Dante knows all of it, yet Freddie is portrayed as a villain and Dante as having a positive change of heart. Are they messing with us? Is is possible Freddie will lose her bad girl status and the writers will try to present her to us as a victim?

I saw part of an excellent Brazilian novel, "A Favorita" in which a main character is presented as a villain for a good part of the show and with masterful effect it is revealed later that the character seen as the poor, reviled victim is the REAL villain of the story. Now, the viewers were not privy to this until the dramatic scene where the character's crazed evil was revealed. It was powerful and effective. In this story we have had it revealed that Maximo DID cheat and put a hit out on his own brother, Gabriel, so Freddie's suspicions are right yet her vengeful push for justice is presented as evil.

Again peeps, this speculation is part of the fun, we don't just like to gush over hunks, we like a mystery too but we are NOT asking for clarification from anyone who has already seen this. Just sayin'.

Okay, back to the sack, love the sound of the rushing wind on a "ain't got to go to work" morning!

:D

Urbanita! Mille grazie! Oh, I forgot about Sonia's "encounter" with Osvaldo! Hmmm. Well, will she have nerve enough to pin this on Pedro? What a disaster THAT is going to be!

Yes, Gael to rehab! Save the weak cutie pie with the heart of gold!

Urban. Maximo MUST be responsible for Quina not raising Roxi. From the flashbacks, he is the very devil himself!

What if Maximo is Freddie's real father? Is she a bitch because she thinks her father, Gabriel, was done wrong or because Maximo is her REAL sperm donor, or both?

Think about it.

Thank you, Lila! "malignant appendage Freddie" WORD.

Considering that the actress playing Federica is typically a nasty bitch in most other novelas, I don't see a 180 turn-around for this character. She is still lazy, manipulative, and a trash-talker. There is nothing to salvage there.

What is with her dalliance with Dante? We've also never seen her leave the house.

BTW, that was the complete Mexican episode 39.

One of your finest recaps, Lila. Enjoyed every word. And it's hard to come up with smooth transitions in a recap, when the actual telenovela jumps around from scene to scene but you did that beautifully with [Eloisa] "malleable mind" and then [Vittorio]" unlike Eloisa, his mind is anything but malleable." Smoooooth, baby, smooooth. Great skill.

You're at your best though when describing love scenes (might there be a bit of bodice ripper reading in your past, querida?) I especially loved "...and flow softly into the embrace." It was a deliciously tender scene and you did it justice.

As you did with the Big-Lipped Aitana scene where she "strokes his [Pedro's] face as if it's the lamp of a genie..." Her first and last names are simply beautiful. The character is not.

But like everyone else, I was really dazzled by your description of Freddie as a "malignant appendage". Awesome. She does seem to be a totally evil, narcissistic hanger on. Dedicated to dwelling and stewing in the past, rather than appreciating the present (which looks quite comfortable) and dedicating herself to something constructive in the future (like getting education and a career!)

Finally, I must say that I think the little actress playing Gianna is stealing every scene she's in. Fiorella is a classically beautiful gal, but Gianna has such an interesting and unusual face. She can be dressed in the most schlumpfy clothes and still look petite and darling. And those hugs! Bet everyone would like to get one of those. As portrayed, this little gal would be a healing presence indeed as a cardiologist.

Thanks as always, Lila. A delight to read. And yes, Benito is a bumbler, out of his league in so many ways, but endearing. I'm sure that he will eventually sort out Roxi and bring out her now completely invisible good qualities. Just wish they'd picked a better actress to play her.

I'm hoping they follow up soon with Gael and Rox getting on with the detective work. They were both victimized by Federica's actions and they both have to realize that this isn't going to stop.

Lila, your comment on Vito's feelings for Fiorella had me laughing out louds: "He's waited all his life for her! Yah! Cause he had to wait for her grandmother, mother, and then for her to be born!"

What a marvelous way to start the day! I'll be grinning throughout...

Diana

Interesting discussion on Freddie.

I agree Lila that Eloisa likely had nothing to do with Gabriels death. I don't think she is a total innocent though. She needs to shed her elitist attitude.

UA, you are right. There is nothing soft, warm or the least bit likeable about Freddie. While that's never stopped other characters who didn't deserve redemption achieve it, she's headed in the wrong direction with the acid eye drops. Although anything is possible.

J, thanks for reminding us of the image of Pedro in that white shirt. Dreamy!

Judy, I have a fondness for Benito too and hope for a very happy ending for him. Roxie makes me cringe and while Freddie is simply unlikeable, Roxie is intolerable. I'm hoping there is time for a new love interest for him.

Diana

It is a cold 43 degrees, raining and the wind is blowing. Then I read your wonderful recap Lila and feel like it's warm and sunny again. Splendiferous!!

And yes, like Diane, I love the ""Gael gets up to enfold her in his arms and comfort her. Ahhhh, everything is better in Gael's arms!" Last night, sort of caught myself talking to the TV when they flipped to a Pedro scene saying "hey, get back to Gael". Now, the white tee moment with Pedro was fine, but I don't know, Gael has sucked me in. Give this boy his own TN. Pronto. (He just stood around and stared and hugged the heroine, I'd watch for 100 episodes. Sigh). We better not be getting a red herring with him and Gia.

You know, Benito is becoming a bit of an ass. Get over yourself. He's a pouter and a whiner. I know he's supposed to care, but to me it comes off as selfish caring because he only wants one of those girls for himself (which in itself is weird.) More I have to watch him (and I eye roll like Simonetta--who can I say I adore more every episode) the more I wish he and Roxy would hook up and get away from our girls.

So how much of wanting Skank-A to hook up with Pedro by Eloisa is she thinks they are a match and how much she wants to get the money in the family?

And I do NOT get this whole sick relationship with Freddie. She's like a virus that just grabs on and no one is taking the right meds to get rid of her. Why Eloisa seems to let her live there, spew her venom and make no reasonable attempt at earning a living, like Eloisa makes everyone else do, smacks of a guilt complex to me. Something not right there.

I can't say too much on Vitto because I'll be honest here, I can't watch any of the scenes with Fi. Just ICK, and lecherous and I get such a creepy feeling, I need to turn away. I'm beyond frustrated the writers are painting Fi believing she owes this jerk anything. Borrow the money from Pedro to pay back the airline tickies, bet he'd be happy to, and send the lech on his way.

Daisynjay

thanks so much, Lila. Your recaps so full of spirit and good-natured snark are always a mood lifter even on a gray, rainy, chilly day like the one we are having here!

I must admit that I am losing interest in this show and watch it while reading the continuing adventures of Claire and Jamie Fraser. I am currently in the sixth book in the series of nine..so far. However, I did notice Pedro's tight, white shirt. And every scene with Vito hobbling and runbling around Fi creeps me out! No way...just no. I wish that we could travel back in time to see more of hulking Dante when he was that foxy, blue eyed dollfaced guy. Feddy also creeps me out because she has no concept of personal space and is always smack up into Eloisa's facade. I would be constantly moving backward.

well, off for breakfast with friends and grocery shopping! L8r.

My two cents about the Diana situation:

She is really going to screw up if she keeps on trash-talking about Fiorella. She knows nothing about her other than Vittorio's obsession. Diana would be far more appropriate for him but she is also trying too hard. She's certainly going to lose viewer support if she keeps this up.

Benito got a bad vibe off her, which we shouldn't ignore.

Vittorio is going to find out the hard way that he is making a major fool of himself. He reminds me of Henry VIII marrying Catherine Howard, and we all know that came to a bad end. If this leads to a similar wedding night scenario, how do you think he will react? Will he be appropriately embarrassed or will he blame Fiorella for not living up to his absurd fantasy?

Grazie, Sara sorella mia!

Urban. I don't know why she latched on to Dante. She has to get her ashes hauled some kind of way and she doesn't leave the house so, *badda bing badda boink* -- Dante! It's probably in Dante's interest, too, keeps her from sniffing around him as a suspect in her father's death.

Since she IS a lazy, manipulative, and a trash-talker is why I'm making a more direct genetic link to Maximo who was EEEVIL. If he'd kill his own brother I wouldn't it past him to have even raped his own brother's wife. Ok, it could be consensual, but it fits Maximo.

JudyB amica preciosa, mi fai felice, mille grazie! Ah yes, JudyB, life has kept me moving from crisis to chronic problem so I haven't had time for a bodice ripper later. Such delicious and relaxing fun!

Gianna, yes, isn't she just precious! I've never seen her before but those hugs of hers seem to be magical! As portrayed, this little gal would be a healing presence indeed as a cardiologist. Yes, I think more and more the non physical "spirit" is being recognized as real and powerful effects on physiology!

I'm not as pissed at Benito as I was. He IS trying to find his way and I agree that he and Roxi will find each other: she is as scattered as he is. I hope the actress playing her can give us a whole different side of her, softer, repentant, sincere. We shall see!

YES! Urban on Gael and Roxi getting on Freddie's trail!

Mille grazie, tutti! Gotta tie on the feed bag! Back in a flash!

Diana at 9:07! Girl, I could snatch a knot in Vitto's arse, old deluded geezer! Sheesh!

Buongiorno, Daisynjay, amica mia! Mille grazie! Okay. That's it, if there's not one, we need a Gael table! Or is there already a Gael and Gigi table! He's a sweetheart and I don't even want to think of any ending for him other than in Gigi's arms!

You know, Benito is becoming a bit of an ass.

That cracks me up! I may not be pissed at him anymore but he's always been an ass in my book! Yah, he's not picky, he wants one, or maybe both of the Italian lasses!

Hey! I feel you on the guilt connection with Freddie! I don't understand why she doesn't suspect Freddie with the killer eyeball juice! How many times has Freddie had a total freaking meltdown that ended in "I HATE YOU, ELOISA!" Geez Louise! What does she need?

Feeling you on Vitto, too. His proposition should so not be a dilemma.

Susanlynn! Buongiorno, armica! Yeah, we're very windy and chilly. No rain yet but it's coming. So glad to lend a little cheer to this blustery day! Enjoy your day and see you L8r!

Urban! Bite your tongue! Don't even say "wedding night" in the same breath as Vitto and Fiorella! Surely they wouldn't do that to her, to us! Makes me wanna holla, throw up both my hands!

Sooo, Lila: "Is is possible Freddie will lose her bad girl status...?" I say she has already crossed the-line-of-no-return with her attempt to blind Eloisa.

And "What if Maximo is Freddie's real father?" Oh! interesting twist! That would drive her BSC to find out the "evil" man she hated all these years is actually her own daddy. *J rubs hands together gleefully*

J in Oregon

PS: is anyone else getting deja vu vibes: old creepy guy with money tries to force young, desperate girl to marry him by buying medicine for sick family member...oh noes! TSTSNBN!!!

J in O

Oh noes indeed, J in O! You bite your tongue, too!

Lila – Thank you for the recap! Your line, “Anibal and Sergio take "time to think" to mean "time to be swayed" as Anibal plays the devil on the left shoulder and Sergio, the angel on the right.“ caused instant flashbacks of that famous Snickers candy bar commercial --- copy & paste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEYo6aQCWtU

”"He's waited all his life for her! Yah! Cause he had to wait for her grandmother, mother, and then for her to be born!"” LOL!!!

Missed this episode last night due to a BBT (BigBangTheory) binge-watch. I will watch later today, knowing this recap is more entertaining than the episode.

The D3 (Daily Dastardly Deeds) may not end until the Por Fin.

Vitto = VitEeeewwww!

Not surprising that I am also more interested in Gael’s story & outcome than the rest of the MIVAC characters’.

I’m surprised Eloisa doesn’t have video surveillance that catches Fio&Pedro embracing and kissing on the front driveway.

- We have a new telenovela beanie hat spray that one can buy at MetaMart(?), to refresh the mind-numbing qualities of our oh-so-necessary headgear. There is now a kiosk next to the Patio to make shopping easier.

- I remind our Patio peeps that there is also the DIY application of aluminum foil to the inside and/or outside of our telenovela hats, for further protection. Reynolds Wrap has a Heavy Duty version if one feels the need...

Upon reflection of my negative reactions to VitEewww, his long hair and sunglasses just say so much about this character. Seriously, if he had a normal haircut, I probably wouldn't be quite as grossed out. Instead, this long stuff says "trapped in the 1970s" like nothing else can. Well, except a polyester leisure suit. It sends a big old message (to me) that the guy is delusional.

Doris! Mille grazie amica mia! Grazie for the Snickers commercial! Yep, I've seen that image in so many cartoons and they were even on her right and left sides!

Let's hear it for Gael! What a following he has! Thank you for the beanie hat spray but how about something for the scalp? The tight beanie is cutting off circulation to the noggin'! I think Heavy Duty Reynolds Wrap on the outside is best!

And again, I am ashamed for having stuck up Ol Vitto mio in the beginning.

Doris and Lila...OMG!! Your comments of Vitto just conjured the old Tex Avery Zoot-suit coyote from the old from the 1940's.

For the record, I whipped out my lovely Emilia made beanie after the first few weeks. Had a feeling it would be needed. If Freddy can hang around the house in a hat, so can I for an hour, and I have a better reason. But I love the your advice with the Reynolds Wrap Doris.

And if we don't have a Gael table, I saw we need one pronto. By the looks of things, we may need one of those banquet size tables to fit all of us.

Any opinions if Anibal might know about Juiletta's past with the daughter she gave up? That smile he gives her always makes me think he has something on her. After the way he treats her, does make one wonder why she hasn't left the scum.

Daisynjay

Hmmm, Daisy, you know, I have never gotten the vibe that he knows about Julieta's past with the child she. . whatever happened to it. All I get from his face, from his eyes is lust, deceit, self-satisfaction with whatever lie he's currently mouthing. Since you mention Tex Avery (what a zany genius of animation he was!) I am reminded of another image. you know how cartoon characters have their pupils turn into whatever it is they are thinking about, their perceptions, needs, etc. It might be dollar signs, or suckers, if they think the person they're talking to is a fool. Anyway, when I look at Anibal all I see in his pupils are a pair of breasts or a firm and fully packed female derrière.

Golly you are so funny Lila, thanks.

"Somehow Gianna is not cheered by Eloisa's generous reassurance that though her sister is a attempted murderess, she can stay at El Rancho"

"Vitto's crack lawyer? More like smokin' crack!"

You know JudyB I completely agree with you that Ela Velden steals every scene. I don't care what happens with Fio, she's an idiot, but love Gianna.

Gosh do we have an attempt by Sonia to put the pregnancy on Pedro? Speaking of Pedro, he knows grandma wants him to marry Aitana and guess he doesn't so why be so sweet to a woman that dumped him and ran off to Europe? He don't have to be mean just tell her it ain't gonna happen.

I know they got cute a little but after all the wailing Fio done in the cage I would think she'd be a bit more enthusiastic toward Pedro. Hell, my neighbors dog will pee all over you when it gets out of the fence.

Tofie!, grazie, amica! Lordy! Pedro is acting like an idiot as well, a weak-willed idiot! He needs to tell Aitana NO WAY and shouldn't have even let her get those word out of her mouth! He's got a way with Granny, he should tell her how he feels about Fiorella! Tofie, it would be so dumb for Sonia to claim her baby as Pedro's. Yes, she's dumb but I thinking she will say it is Osvaldos so they can claim the first great grand.

Anybody know, is there a clause for a bonus in the inheritance for the family with the first great grand?

Grazie, dear Tofie!

Lila, I don't think they'd pull the Cuna de Lobos stunt.

If Pedro had fessed up to his feelings for Fiorella before this incident he'd probably be home free. However, that is going to hang over Fiorella's head until something else happens when she's not there. As to Eloisa's rhapsodizing about Aitana, that's revisionist history. Many people are capable of that when the situation suits it.

Hey, Urb, what's a "Cuna de Lobos stunt"? Thanks!

That's "The entire estate goes to the one who produces the first male child of the next generation" thing. Antiquated and nasty but a good plot drier of the past.

Gotcha! Whoever the De la Riva Palma family is apparently their name and fortune is enough to nullify Aitana's Roxi-like behavior. Funny how that works.

Hey all, I 've missed the past three days and had to watch them on demand. A friend suggested these two shows from Spain, El Principe and Velvet, and so I've been binge-watching them. You guys should check it out, they are really great btw. For some reason, I've never considered TNs from other countries before.

Anyway, I thought that, sometimes, when you miss an episode or two, the TN usually progresses forward. I was slightly right. Fi is out of jail, but not out of Vitto's life. :(

A belated thanks to Princess Juju, Sara, and Lila for the recaps I missed and read, word for word, which never disappoints!

J in Oregon and Lila, I see that we are all #TeamPedroWithAWhiteShirt. YAAAASSS! My eyes popped out and I spend many minutes pausing the TV to admire him.

I agree with everyone's sentiment about Aitana. I don't understand people like her. She just can't take a hint. When you have to constantly remind someone that they forgot to spend time with you, then he/she is not interested. Desperation looks good on no one.

Freddie has been very vocal about hating Eloisa and Maximo. What further prove does Eloisa need to see that Freddie is a shady lady? A flashing, neon sign on her forehead?

Urban Anthropologist, thanks for your quick intro to Italy! In the movie, Age of Adaline, it had an Italian proverb I still remember because it's so good,"Years, lovers, glasses of wine. These are things that should never be counted."

I like it. There can never be enough wine.

Lila enjoyed the recap. When I first started to
Watch I liked old Eloisa. Not so much so anymore, shes as wishywashy as the rest of

That would explain why she is so nice to her the next day after Freddie has one of those tirades the day before. She acts as if freddy

Some people blindly believe that DNA = loyalty and/or love. Or they want to believe it so much they need to convince themselves that a relative will never betray them. They need major history lessons over stuff like that.

We don't know Eloisa's family background. If she came from a healthy family she wouldn't be able to comprehend families where everyone is at each other's throats. Someone like Federica is particularly hard to understand. She's intelligent and attractive, so what is she doing shut up in the house all the time? She should have gone to college, had a career, dated smart and attractive men. It floors me that nobody has asked the question as to why she is unmarried and living like an old maid.

Wasn't there a race for the first grand baby in Destilando Amor between Big Ed Yanez and Sergio Sendal ?

Feddy seems to fallen into the dangerous trap of wallowing in the supposed injustices of the past instead of actually deciding to move on and have a life.

Interesting idea Nina. I'm with you, maybe Freddy had a childhood trauma losing her father, but where's the mention of the mother and for goodness sake, the woman is HOW OLD?? Trauma or not, by now she should have done something with her life. I get the young ones tolerating her behavior, they probably have never known her not to be the sponge that she is. But Eloisa is another story. Maybe we do have an echo relationship with Joaquina and Roxy...we know how writers love to do past and present plots. I'm intrigued now.
I was thinkging that Sonia may try to blackmail Pedro with the news of the child, but then I think she is a rather duplicitous little beyotch, and she knows really Osvaldo is her meal ticket right now. With everyone living under the same roof, how would she pull off dumping Osvaldo and trying to snare Pedro, unless she's that stupid. But she could make his life hell by insinuating the baby is his. A secret he would have to keep from Fi....queue the evil music,..dum-de-dum.

I saw an article online that said this was 176 - 45 minute episodes. Please tell me that isn't true? I like this story, but how the heck it stretches out that long makes my beloved beanie explode. Wonder if that's why the slicing and dicing to get that down?

Daisynjay

Buongiorno a tutti! Come dolce far niente!
Buenos dias a todos! ¡Qué dulce no hacer nada!

Good Morning y'all! How sweet to do nothing! Yes, I slept in! 10:00 is rare for me, usually it's like 7:00 a.m. even on a Sunday! Aaaahhh!

Caroline! Grazie, mille grazie! Pedro in a white shirt is THE TRUTH, baby!

You nailed Aitana! Desperation looks good on no one. Add Vitto to that but he's so cocksure that he doesn't realize how pitiful he is. He's a stubborn buzzard but I guess she's not young, fresh and virginal like Vitto. Ooops! Sorry! Some of y'all are in the breakfast hour!

"Years, lovers, glasses of wine. These are things that should never be counted."

Now, THAT's Italian! That is so damned wise and sexy at the same time!

Nina! Hey girl. Yes, you're a straight-shooter and the residents of El Rancho could take some good advice from you, honey!

So you're thinking Eloisa could have cheated with Gabriel and had Freddie? Interesting! I know folk have wondered what the pull is Freddie has over Eloisa and she put up with Freddie slapping her and her yelling, pissing tantrums. Question: How old is Freddie and how old is Sergio? For this to be so, Freddie would have to be born first and have been given to Gabriel and his wife to raise, swearing everybody to secrecy. Not impossible, it IS a novela, afterall. VERY interesting, Nina! If it pans out, you take a bow!

I, on the other hand, had speculated that Max might have cheated with or raped Gabriel's wife and thus the evil spawn Freddie. If that is true then she'd be keeping Freddie around because she is the daughter of her (supposed) beloved Max!

And, of course, Freddie could be Gabriel and his wife's sho-nuff biological daughter and Eloisa tolerates her out of guilt!

We don't know who the little girl lost in the woods is: Julia, her daughter or just a fantasy/nightmare child. Time will tell.

Okay. Time for breakfast! Back in a flash!

Unless Julieta had a miscarriage followed by an infection leading to a hysterectomy (like Ivana in YNCELH) she had a baby eventually. That baby is likely to be Fiorella based on their respective heights and coloring. Fiorella and Gianna don't look much alike. However, she would have had to have given her up at birth because Fiorella has no memory of having been adopted.

How about this (which was in some other novela I saw ages ago): Julieta and Signora Bianchi were in hospital at the same time. Mario's wife gave birth to a stillborn baby while Julieta was looking to give up her healthy one. The doctor or nurse looking after both of them decided that Julieta's baby should go to Bianchis. Hospital records were falsified or sealed and -- consistent with other novela tropes -- nobody every told Fiorella she was adopted.

This could involve a trip to Italy for confirmation later. Hope so because I want to see Italy again in this series.

Yep, Urban! Sounds legit to me and even more for it if it means going back to Italy!

Urban - I like your Crockpot Theory a lot. And in true telenovela plot fashion, perhaps the father of Juli's baby orchestrated the switcheroo if he did not want to be saddled with a child?

Lila, why thank you. Yes, I left vitto out because he is so young, fresh, and virginal, as you said. Why have Pedro, when you can have a conniving, overconfident buffoon.

Daisynjay, I am with you about sonia blackmailing pedro. I think she will blackmail him to marry her. I feel like the baby is fabio's. I hope it's osvaldo since most of their argument is because they married thinking she was pregnant. This pregnancy will probably be a reason for tearing fi and pedro up further and bring her closer to vitto.

Dang, Caroline, you KNOW I made a mistake up there! Sheesh! Vitto doesn't want Diana because SHE's not young, fresh and virginal like Fiorella!

Hoo boy!

Sonia's claiming this baby is anybody's but her husbands will show what a dumb as a rock skank she is. And Pedro had better NOT fall into any blackmail trap. I will barely be able to contain my anger/disgust! I'm hoping she will just try to claim favor with Granny Eloisa for having the first great grand.

Lila- I've been out and about all weekend. I apologize for the late comment on your fantabulous recap. Gracias, amiga.

I echo the praise of Pedro in the tight, white long sleeved tshirt.

At the end when Vitto was staking his claim on Fiorella and said, "I brought you to Mexico and you are MY prometida." I thought the word prometida could have easily been switched out for propiedad (property). Really, that's what he was saying, wasn't it?

I really don't see what Sonia thinks she can accomplish by pursuing Pedro (or by pressuring him with a baby). What made her ever think Pedro would ever do something so unacceptable to Eloisa and society as taking up with and marrying his cousin's wife? That was NEVER going to happen.

Speaking of Pedro, I REALLY wish he'd be more forceful with Aitana. He owes her nothing. She's the one who dumped him. He has no obligation to even be polite to her.

Thank you Lila for the recap. There is just a little mistake. Sonia was talking in the phone with Assvaldo, not with Fabio.

Urban - Assvaldo raped Sonia before she started having sex with Fabio. The babys father could be either Fabio or Assvaldo but for Sonias security it better be Assvaldo. I dont think that Assvaldo would want to raise a baby that its not his except for the inheritance. Enough humilliating has been for him working with the lover of his wife. Now imagine him when he finds that her wife is pregnant, oh my Lord.

Anonymous- Yes this novela lasted 176 episodes but the last week it shared the hour with Amor de Barrio and the final episode was 2 hours. But with all the editing Univision is making maybe it would end on aproximately 3 or 4 months. By now they have broadcasted til episode 40.

Vivi! Grazie amica mia! That quote from Vitto is VERY telling, thank you! He IS treating her like property and he's becoming more and more odious!

ITA about Sonia! I just can't believe she'll try to pin the baby on Pedro. And yes, he needs to be forceful with both women. He acts as if he owes them both his time, attention and the surrender of his personal space. It's absolutely maddening!

Hey, Marla! Grazie! I always welcome corrections! So Sonia was talking with Ozzie, hunh? Thank you!

Hi Lila. Yes Sonia was telling Osvaldo that she was feeling bad and that she only went to the pharmacy. He seems to be that type of man that checks all the time what his wife is doing and where she is going, with whom she is. He has a dangerous obsession for Sonia.

Anonymous. I remembered that it was the last two weeks that this novela shared the hour with amor de barrio and not just one week like I said before. Those were episodes of only 20 minutes.

Uh, sounds like Osvaldo has a justified lack of trust in wifey. She has certainly earned it!

Good monday morning everyone. I won't be able to watch the next two days live so I look forward to the recaps.

Lila, hehehe somehow Diana never crossed my mind. My apologies. But it does make me wonder, has vitto ever been married and will we ever see who the unfortunate woman was?

Mornin' Caroline! I don't think Vitto has ever been married and his past, other than it stretches for years on end, is an unknown!

Glad the recaps will help keep you in the loop and it's sure to be loopy!

;D

Vittorio has never been married. He therefore can't possibly have any realistic expectations about it. It's also likely that he will have a hard time living with anyone.

We have not seen his home, but we know Diana has. If it were unsatisfactory she would probably not continue to pursue him. He must have a housekeeper at least, but he probably spends more time at the restaurant, eats most of his meals there, and goes home to sleep.

Hey, Lila! Thank you for this recap.

My weekend was totally taken up with 50th H.S. class reunion stuff, so missed out on the episode, and thus your recap was really helpful.

I have enjoyed all the comments too.

David

Vitto's "past stretches for years on end". Hah
Hahhah!! Thats funny, the man is ancient. He
Probably has a pharmacey full of blue pills,
Cause he gonna try and keep up with fifi's sexaul appetite. Pietro, not so much, no blue Pills.

Lila, gracias! I'm giggling at "retinue of devoted would be Fiorella-liberators" :D

I can't believe this entire time "guilty" just meant "The person who pressed charges said you did it." Guess that only works for rich people, though *grumble, grumble*

I have to give Fed credit for coming up with the idea to blame Ramiro. So now are they going to bring the law down on him, or just brush it off since oh, well, he's already been fired? Are they only afraid of sweet young girls in floral dresses in this house?

I think we haven't found out all there is to know yet about Fed's dad, but it can't be as simple and straightforward as Fed thinks it is. And where are Fed's theories coming from, I wonder? She's supposed to have been very young when her dad died, so she would have gotten all her information from the family--who were all saying it was a heart attack. Why the suspicion of anything more? And, ok, Maximo ordered Dante to kill Gabriel...but was it just for money? Had Gabriel done something that Maximo wanted to cover up? Are Eloisa's "I know something, but I'm not going to tell you" looks because she's biting her tongue to keep from telling Fed what her father was really like?

To me it seems obvious that Sonia's pregnancy is the result of the rape. We know Pedro was knocked out, and I doubt she'd have sex with Fabio without taking precautions. Not that she won't try to pin it on Pedro anyway.

Hey, David! I hope you had a blast, fratello! Grazie!

Nina, now I'm going to ask you to please bite your tongue for that comment about Vitto needing blue pills for Fifi!

;D

Divaaaaaa! Capitana carita! Diva, Dante must have been feeding Freddie theories. Knowing he has a role in it this, and boinking her, must be his way of keeping her at bay and himself above suspicion.

Maximo wanted Gabriel killed because he had proof of Maximo's swindling him and Max wanted him disposed of before he could expose the swindle.

Diva, what do you think of my theory that Freddie is the spawn of Maximo

and Nina's theory that Freddie is the spawn of Granny Eloisa and Gabriel?

Each of these may both be Cracksmokin' theories but you know we love to speculate 'round here!

Grazie, Capitana!

Freddie spawn of Maximo and Gabriel's wife

Were Maximo and Eloisa really swindling Gabriel?

I'm determined to think that Fed has been wrong about everything and it was Gabriel who was no saint...just that Max and El didn't deal with it in the best way. Like, hey, maybe if he was making the company go broke and was fixin' to run off with some "unsuitable" woman they could have just talked him down. They didn't have to plot to kill the guy!

I think it would be par for the course that Fed's parents aren't who she thinks they are.

In the flashback when Maximo! was talking to Dante! ordering the hit on Gabriel, he said it was because Gabriel had the goods on him for the swindle. I don't assume that Eloisa knew anything about this. As I said in a comment last week, I think Maximo was doing a whole mess of dirty dealings that Eloisa had no idea about and that includes swindling Gabriel. I'm sure he had a cover story for it including smearing Gabriel or making him out to be a paranoid and envious of him, Maximo.

I think Dante is the only one alive who knows fully all the dirt Max was into and he may still be acting to fulfill his oath of loyalty to Max. Can't totally defend or detail it, but that's my feeling.

Well, that's uncomfortable...I just found myself hoping Dante survives to tell us the whole story...yuuuuuck! Ok, ok, he can die before the end if he leaves some kind of documentation behind, but no taking his secrets to the grave.

And let him not leave in Dante/Freddie clones behind! Que horror!

Is it fedrika or frederika. Cause I call her fredy
And somebody else calls her fed for short Whatever, I still Don't like her. She's slimily
Sneaky. That the worst sneaky ever. ↑ :-D
Is that a word?→→→→→→→→→→→↑

Her name is Federica but I call her Freddie unless I can think of a nasty name to call her!

Slimily is the word I was asking about. well when I sent a comment in the sentence came back all jumbled up. Anyways is it a word?

It sure is a word, Nina!

Slimily - definition of slimily by The Free Dictionary
www.thefreedictionary.com/slimily
a. Consisting of or resembling slime; viscous: slimy ooze. b. Covered with or exuding slime: a slimy snail. 2. a. Morally repulsive, as in being dishonest or corrupt.

Biggest mystery for me is how hot young Dante became uh,..... Dante?

tofie - re: young/old Dante, some people just do not age well. Ack.

Could that gravely, raspy voice ever have been sexy?
