Lo Imperdonable #98 Thu 10/1/15 Ahhh, Calm seas, smooth sailing... Hey, is that a dorsal fin in the water???

In which:

Marty rescues Ana Perla and her baby;

Manuel plots to poison the Old Goat and steal Marty's gold;

Padre Juan shows Julio the error of his ways;

Daniel outfoxes and outsleazes Virginia;

Jorge does another flipflop;

Virginia seethes and plots;

Vero smiles and gathers evidence;

Magdalena wins back her daughter and gets a marriage proposal;

And Marty throws one hell of a party!

Worth a second look

Mom and daughter caught in the act.  Separately.

Young Emiliano catches Nicolás sniffing his mom.

Vero catches Virginia handing Daniel wads of money; she realizes that Daniel is her anonymous caller and that Ginny is paying him off so he won't betray her secret.

The new:

Ahora los patos le tiran a las escopetas/
The worm turns.

Verónica walks away, determined to share her discovery with Martín right away.

Virginia, left alone with Daniel, first tries bullying.  "You don't know what I'm capable of," she snarls. But he has had it with her.  Ignoring her threats and rejecting her money, he storms out of the bar.  She runs after him and manages to catch up with him in the street.  He says he'll sell her the recording on one condition.  If she refuses, he's going to sell the damning evidence to Verónica.

In the shallow end of the pool on the Prado Castelo estate

Emiliano is not happy.  Salma tries to defend her honor: It was an innocent gift of perfume and Nico is a perfect gentleman.  Emi doesn't seem completely satisfied with the flimsy explanation.  (Nor should he be.  These two even have their own theme song now.)  In spite of their huffy denials, Nico can't resist a final sniff before trotting off to work with Emi.

In the library in the Prado Castelo home, Verónica lays the groundwork for her mysterious and dangerous plan to prove that Virginia is a snake.

Invoking Matilde's memory, Verónica asks Chucho (a long-time employee on the estate and Mati's old friend and compañero) to review the estate's security tapes on two dates.  On the first, he is to determine if any stranger entered the house.  On the second, he is to note all of Ginny's entrances and exits.

Later, she meets Magdalena and tells her what she has in mind (though she doesn't tell the Patio).   She knows it is risky, but she has to make Ginny pay for what she has done.

In a hotel room, Daniel explains his new fee structure to Virginia

What Daniel wants is a roll in the hay – not just now, but whenever he chooses.  Virginia tries to weasel out of it by playing the invalid card.  He reminds her that he's her cardiologist and therefore knows that she is fit for the anticipated activity.  Ever the pragmatist, Ginny decides to go with the flow...

Afterward, Daniel hands Virginia a flashdrive.  But as soon as Ginny is out the door, Daniel gloats to the Patio that he still has the original recording and thus maintains his hold over Virginia:

Te sigo teniendo en mis manos.
(I still have you in my hands.)

Grammar nerd note about seguir, (literally, to follow) in the above line:
Often, Spanish expresses the idea of persistence or continuity contained in the English word "still" like this:
Yo sigo siendo tu mejor amigo.  (I am still your best friend.)
El juez sigue escuchando peticiones.  (The judge is still hearing/continues to hear petitions.)
A pesar de todo, te sigo amando.  (In spite of everything, I still love you.)

The grammar is simple:
Subject + conjugated form of seguir   + present participle of the second verb.

He vows to make her pay for all the times she humiliated him.  "The recording is a gold mine!"

Ginny, now back in the Prado Castelo house, does some gloating of her own.

She looks at the flashdrive Daniel has given her and declares herself free of him:

No me vas a volver a ver nunca.
(You will never see me again.)

In the untamed outskirts of Mina Escondida

Martín rides through the countryside searching for Pablo and Ana Perla.  (The padre has told him where to look.)

In the little hut where they have sheltered, Ana Perla stirs and moans, awakened by a terrible pain in her belly.  Though Pablo is aghast, he quickly helps her to her feet and the two start to walk back to the pueblo for help.  But they are very far away and Ana Perla is in such agony that she can barely move.  It looks grim.

In the church, the padre talks Julio off the ledge and back into the fold (maybe).

Padre Juan tells Julio that his bloodlust isn't all that Christian.  He persuades him to put away his gun, kneel before the altar and reflect on his actions.  Then the padre deftly plays his ace: he appeals to Julio's memory of his mama.

¿Crees que si tu madre estuviera aquí, desearía que hiciera algo así?
(Do you think that if your mother were here, she would want you to do something like that?)

Julio shakes his head, his face now bathed in tears.  The padre tells him to meditate and then do as his conscience dictates.  Julio is sobbing now.  Holy music swells.  (But only a little.  We get another choppy cut that doesn't even respect the integrity of the incidental music.  Bah.)

Marty spots Pablo and Ana Perla!

He rides up to them, rapidly assesses the situation and pulls out the cellphone that now, inexplicably, works in Greater Mina Escondida.  He calls Vero and asks her to send them a helicopter.

(Oho!  We've seen that helipad on the top of the Prado Castelo building many times.)  Vero springs into action.  The corporate copter is on its way!

Next, Marty calls Botel for advice.  Where should he take Ana Perla?  Botel tells him to take her to Marty's place in the city; he will be there to meet them and have everything ready to attend to her.  [Yeah, stoopid, right.  Why not take her to a hospital.  But think about it – Better Marty's place than the N-less Hospital Ce_ter.]

To say that he eats like a pig would be an insult to porcine creatures everywhere.

Manuel shovels his grub into his mouth with both fists, then talks with his mouth full.  [Choke, Manny, choke!]  He lies to the Old Goat, telling him they have discovered a new vein of gold in La Perla.  When the Old Goat muses about using some of their new wealth to protect Raymunda, Manny becomes irate.  Has he forgotten that she betrayed him?

In a now familiar gesture, the Old Goat clutches at his arm [Die, Old Goat, die!] and says he doesn't feel so hot.  He will ask Tomasina to prepare him some tea.  Manny tells him to lie down – he will make the tea himself!

Hah!  There's Manuel in the dining room stirring poisonous herbs into Grandpa Goat's tea!  Manny is going to put him out of his misery before he gets the chance to share the wealth with anyone but him!

The helicopter arrives and lands in a clearing.

Remember how Gaby twisted an ankle and Joaquín swept her up in his arms?  Remember how Marty swept Vero up and twirled her around on the bed of roses in their new house?  But poor Ana Perla, for all her agony, has to walk to the waiting helicopter.  Sheesh.

In minutes, however, Ana Perla is at Marty's place in the city and Botel, in professional plaid, is in attendance.  "Save my baby, doctor!" she begs.  He urges her to be calm – she hasn't had any bleeding and that's a good sign.

The sun never sets on fat jokes in Pueblo Nuevo

Ramón, out of a job since El Purgatorio burned to the ground, has heard that Pierre is looking for a cook.  He's the man for the job.   After all, he has had a lot of experience in the kitchen!  Nyuk nyuk nyuk.  And wasn't Pierre looking for a useless person without references?  Well that fits Ramón to a tee.

Here's why I rarely watch Mexican comedies:
What Pierre's help wanted sign says:
Inútil presentarte sin referencias
(There is no point in showing up without references, i.e., references are required.)
Ramón's interpretation:
Hey, good-for-nothing guy, show up without references!

The gold from La Morenita is loaded into an unmarked panel truck

Lorenzo frets about the shipping arrangements: Shouldn't they have special guards or something?  Joaquín says they are following Marty's orders.  He wanted the delivery to be inconspicuous.

Now Lorenzo notices that the guy going with him is one of Mina La Perla's crew.  The guy readily admits it, but says Manny pays him so little that he needs the extra hours here.   He complains about the heat and then offers Lorenzo a drink of water from his canteen.  [The Patio goes nuts!  Nooooooo!  Don't drink it!] Evidently Lorenzo can't hear us because he takes a big swallow.  Ay ay ay!

The truck leaves for Mexico City.

The doctor delivers good news (for a change!)

Botel tells Pablo, Magdalena, Vero and Marty that Ana Perla needs rest and hydration – being locked in a cave and pushed down a precipice can be terribly tiring and dehydrating – but she and her baby are going to be fine.  She is a fighter!

Pablo asks if he can see her now.  Botel doesn't answer.  Pablo glances at his friends uneasily... [This scene goes absolutely nowhere.  NOWHERE.]

The Gold Exchange

Manuel watches with a satisfied smirk as two guys load gold bars into a wheelbarrow.   One of these guys is the same one we saw with Lorenzo earlier.  Ay ay ay!

The Gold Truck Gets a Flat

Lorenzo, dozing in the passenger seat while Manny's miner is at the wheel, is jolted awake by a sudden flat tire.  They have no spare!  How will they make their delivery on time?  And what if they get attacked?  They are sitting ducks!

Corporativo Prado Castelo

Emiliano rather nastily reminds Martín that he (Marty) is responsible for delivery of the promised shipment of gold [which is apparently now in Manuel's possession.  Sigh.]  The boys agree to keep the personal out of their business dealings.

After Emiliano leaves, Marty tells Jorge that today is very special for Verónica and there's something he wants to ask him...

Girl Talk

Vero and Magdalena sit on Ana Perla's bed. The three women rhapsodize about what a blessing it is to have a child.  Then Vero tells Magdalena how much she loves and admires her:  "Mama, I want to be like you when I grow up."

And Speaking of Mamas...

Pablo has gone to see his.  Lucía is thrilled to know that he and Ana Perla are back together.  She wants to visit her nuera – she has a special gift for her.

Somehow, the flat on the Gold Truck has been repaired

Lorenzo is upset about the delay and is anxious to get the show back on the road.  His companion is oddly unconcerned.

Motherly advice

Magdalena knows how much Jorge's coolness has hurt Verónica, but they both know that he is a fair and open-minded man.   She encourages Vero to talk things out with him.  Verónica agrees.

A Surprise for Ana Perla!

Ay señora, ¡que gusto! Ana Perla exclaims happily when Pablo walks in with his mom.  "Call me Lucía," replies her smiling suegra, as she hands her a very special gift – a christening gown for her baby, the very one that Pablo wore!

Humiliation for Virginia!

Virginia kvetches to her tita Salma: "This is a humiliation – here in our own house!"  She won't have any part of it.

Salma reminds her that Vero promised not to proceed against her while she is still convalescing.  But if Virginia's behavior causes Emiliano or Jorge to doubt her again, she is lost.

Virginia gets it.  She'll go, she says.  But what did Salma say to Verónica that made her change her mind?

"One day you will know – and I hope you'll forgive me."

Virginia eyes her tita suspiciously.

In Jorge's office – Vindication for Vero

Magdalena has accompanied Vero this far.  Now she leaves her alone with Jorge.  He then surprises Vero by asking her to forgive him for treating her so harshly.  Yes, Emiliano is his son, but Vero is his daughter and having her close is his greatest treasure.   She promises to be more careful about Emi's feelings.  "Give him time," urges this new, improved Jorge.  Then he invites her to come with him because he has...

A Surprise for Verónica!

She steps onto a carpet of rose petals in the covered archway and hears the strains of the traditional birthday song, Las Mañanitas, played and sung by a full mariachi band.  Marty awaits her, a joyful smile lighting up his face.  He hands her a single long-stemmed red rose.  They kiss for a really long time.  Then he does that weird thing where he hyperextends his back, making him look as if he is trying to keep his distance while holding her close.

And there's a big party waiting outside the passageway!  [Who are all these people?  We know these characters have no friends, right?]  Everyone applauds the birthday girl.  Everyone except for one or two in the crowd...

Virginia, wearing a little red capelet that is so odd and unflattering that it might be considered a tiny preliminary anvil, stares at Vero and bitterly thought-bubbles about what a phony she is and how she deserves to be scorned:

"You'll see – very soon they're going to hate you!"

She approaches Emiliano and tries to stir up trouble.  He doesn't want to play.

Mean Manny in Mina Escondida

Manuel and one of his henchmen anxiously await word.  "Damn! What if our gold doesn't fool them?" frets Manny.  The henchman tells him not to worry because that won't happen.  "It better not," says Manny menacingly.  "Those bastards have to go down."

The Gold Truck Arrives

The Prado Castelo guards wave in the truck but explain that Jorge and Emiliano won't be able to check its contents until the next day.

Love is contagious

Watching Marty's smooth moves has awakened Botel's dormant romantic.  He has a surprise for Magdalena!

V my name is Virginia.

Virginia keeps nagging at Emiliano.  She says Jorge should never have allowed this party for Vero.  He tells her to stop criticizing his father – and to stop calling him "Emi" [snort!]  When she says that Vero toyed with his feelings, he reminds her that she did the same when all her lies were revealed on the day they were to be married.

"I was really sick," says Virginia angrily.  "Verónica lied!"

"If you were telling the truth," he asks, "then why did Dr. Fernández disappear?"

Virginia looks away and says nothing.  "You sowed the seeds of doubt yourself," he adds.  "Don't expect us to trust you now, VickyVicky."  [Vicky?]

"Virginia," she corrects him.  "Virginia."

Botel pops the question

He pulls out what appears to be a very modest ring, slips it on Magdalena's finger and proposes.  She says yes.  Vero comes over and they share the joyful news.  Dimples and teeth all around.

A bull market at the fruit stand

Arturo is ecstatic to get a call from Blanquita.  He didn't know how to reach her.  Being apart from her all this time made him realize that he misses her...  and that he loves her.  Awwwww.

A Blast from the Past for the Birthday Girl

The song has been sung, and the cake has been cut.  Now Magdalena takes Vero aside and gives her a special present.  It's a doll, the same doll she gave her on her fourth birthday, the last one they spent together – until today.  Vero remembers.  [But just in case the Patio has forgotten, the scene is replayed for our benefit.]  She embraces her mother.

"You're the best and most beautiful daughter in the world," says Magdalena, evoking their private catechism.  "And in the universe?" asks Vero.  "Yes," answers Magdalena.  "In the universe."

Lorenzo prepares to unload his probably not so valuable cargo.

Lorenzo refuses any help from the Prado Castelo guys.  He and his [treacherous and lazy] partner will unload the precious cargo themselves.

Margarita, La Diosa de la Cumbia sings for Verónica (take that, Virginia!)

[Remember Margarita in Lo que la vida me robó?  On that occasion, Grettell was also stewing in her juices, if memory serves.]

♫ ♫Contigo el amor es perder la cabeza

Marty dances with Vero, Botel dances with Magdalena and even NovelaMaven is swaying to the beat.   But Virginia and Emiliano dance with no one.

Avances:  Virginia shows Jorge and Emiliano the compromising email she sent from Verónica's account.  Will her ploy work?

Comments:
This episode was so loaded with stuff that it makes me wonder how it was supposed to play out in the original script. The whole gold scam, in particular, was extremely confusing to me. I kept thinking there were pieces missing that would have explained what was going on.

Oh well, in telenovelas, more is definitely more. Enjoy!

Why is Lucia thrilled that Pablo & Ana Perla are married? Wasn't she telling him to forget about her a few episodes ago?

Wow NovelaMaven. This was fantastic. Thank you so much.

You had a lot of wonderful lines, too many to list, but my personal favorites were:

"Jorge does another flipflop"

"In spite of their huffy denials, Nico can't resist a final sniff before trotting off to work with Emi."

"Holy music swells. (But only a little. We get another choppy cut that doesn't even respect the integrity of the incidental music. Bah.)"

"[Choke, Manny, choke!]"

"[The Patio goes nuts! Nooooooo! Don't drink it!]"

"This scene goes absolutely nowhere. NOWHERE."

"Virginia, wearing a little red capelet that is so odd and unflattering that it might be considered a tiny preliminary anvil."

The gold scam - I was left confused by it as well. I wish they would have explained what was going on better.

So the flat tire was for real, right? One minute they don't have a spare then the next they do. I suppose someone stopped by and gave them a spare.

Yes, it was stupid to take AP to Marty's place, instead of a hospital. Then there was that awkward scene where Pablo asks if he can see AP and Botel does not answer.

I too was wondering who all those guests were at Vero's birthday party. And Virginia almost looked like little red riding hood with that red capelet.

I loved it when Emi (err Emiliano) stated that he hated being called "Emi". I was also confused by him calling Virginia "Vicky" since it's not short for Virginia at all.

I have to admit, that I did enjoy the Ramon scene and him misinterpreting Pierre's "Help Wanted" sign.

Thanks, Mauricio! I'm relieved to hear that you were confused by some of those scenes too. They really had me talking to myself like some crazy person in a telenovela :-)

Okay, I giggled at the Ramón scene too. In fact, I even like the bits of business between Romeo and Pierre, with both twirling their non-existent moustaches.

I suppose the flat was for real, but wow, you ship, what, millions of dollars of gold and you don't carry a spare?

Anon207, Lucía is happy because her son is happy. Because that's the kind of mom she is.

Thanks for the recap, NovelaMaven!

I didn’t get the non-reponses when Pablo asked if he could see AP. What was the point of that if the next scene with AP shows Vero and Magda with her? It was so odd.

Normally I don’t like the random scenes with Ramon (they seem so unnecessary and annoying), but his misinterpretation of the sign did make me laugh.

Ok, so no explanation for cell phones suddenly working in Mina Escondida, and people seem to be able to come and go really quickly (what happened to needing to take a boat to get between ME and Pueblo Nuevo? Uspin where are you?), and now a helicopter can be sent from Mexico City??

I’m also wondering why both Magda and Vero seemed surprised when Botel proposed. Um, didn’t Marty receive a message when they were in Cancun that said Magda and Botel were going to get married?? Do the writers just forget earlier episodes or not care? This is like when Marty asked Veronica what happened to her hand when he had just helped her with Sanson like 2 days before and she told him that the rope had burned her hand… These little details annoy me so much! Continuity, please.

Oops, that Anonymous post was me. Not sure why it did that.

I also wanted to say thank you for including the Spanish explanations. I really appreciate it!

You're welcome, J!

I couldn't agree more. As much as I am enjoying this novela, continuity is a hot mess. One tiny thing though – they actually did mention that a new road had been built (not in this episode, but in an earlier one). This is a fairly important point and should have been a bit more obvious, not just a little throw-away line.

We do know that Uspín left town with Ireri a few episodes back.

Thank you NovelaMaven---I loved tour Worth A Second Look and then The New. With all of the recaps I have read, I don't think that I have ever seen it put quite that way---It caught my attention.

Some things didn't make sense to you? Me either. There have been novelas in the past
where the patio peeps were complaining heavily that this or that didn't make any sense or seemed stupid the way it was presented. I always have said, just use your imagination and go with the flow. Every scene isn't perfect so just go with the overall story line.

You were right though. Ana Perla is in pain and can barely stand. There are two men there with her so make her walk to the helicopter. You have to wonder what were the writers thinking when they wrote this scene?

Your Dr. Botel is there in his professional plaid was for sure a chuckle line.

The cries from the patio are getting louder and louder. Choke Manny Choke y Die Old Goat die!

Ramon as a cook? I think not. The kitchen's budget would increase twofold in no
time.

Bad news for V-snake. Dr. Dan still has the video original. She sure won't be a happy camper about that when she finds out. Is Dr. Dan going down?

Oh the advances point to a must see tv night for us.
the gringo

Thank you muchísimo, NovelaMaven, for your fabulous recap. So many witty and funny lines already mentioned by others, and I liked this one a lot as well:

"To say that he eats like a pig would be an insult to porcine creatures everywhere."
Hilarious!

Also loved your title: "Mom and daughter caught in the act separately."

Not much galán behavior when it came to escorting AP to the helicopter!

Love the "grammar nerd" notes too. Seguir is used a lot, and those examples were great!

Another great recap from NovelaMaven--witty and instructive. Can't beat that. Wish you would write a Spanish textbook. I might be willing to study then.

"can't resist a final sniff". [ And I'm feeling nauseous just thinking about that scene.]

Botel "in professional plaid" and the anvil-worthy red capelet (Mauricio, I thought she looked like Red Riding Hood also...a toxic Red Riding Hood, but nevertheless)

but the winner is...

Dr. Dan "explaining his new fee structure". So funny. So wicked. So NovelaMaven.

Enjoyed your discussion of "seguir". It seems to always be used when asking about somebody's health (which is always delicate) and the concerned character asks "Como sigue?"

Maybe I was in a bad mood (hey, it happens) but I just found this entire episode totally annoying. Don't care who's getting engaged, who's celebrating a birthday, or who's having a baby with a fellow with no visible means of support. Glad Granny saved the baptismal gown because this poor babe is going to need clothes and diapers. And I can't see those wretched old paintings or his current job at the butcher (which he has probably lost) as a source of steady income.

But hey! a baby is wonderful. Let's all just have a bunch!

Thanks for once again spinning dross into witty gold, though NM.

Hi gringo,
Thanks for stopping by. You know, I've never demanded overly logical stories from my telenovelas and generally I subscribe to your "go with the overall storyline" approach. So if I'm talking about continuity problems, believe me that they are screamingly obvious. They're not keeping me from watching, though.

Thanks so much, Mari. What can I say? Low-hanging fruit! :-) It's so good to know there's another grammar nerd out there on the Patio!

JudyB,
Yes, they do use 'seguir' a lot to talk about health, don't they? When you think about it, it is almost like the third way to say "to be" (ser, estar, seguir). Believe me, you don't want any textbook from me. This is strictly seat-of-the-pants here. (Not that I don't appreciate the kind words.)

"I just found this entire episode totally annoying."
hahaha! And I was just eating it up! Oh well. Maybe I've gone around the bend. :-)

Thanks again!

And another thing (as Columbo used to say)...

"And I can't see those wretched old paintings or his current job at the butcher (which he has probably lost) as a source of steady income."

Marty has promised to find a job for Pablo at the constructora (if Marty isn't completely bankrupted after Manny and Virginia get finished with him).

I think we have to take on faith that the paintings are ART. snort.

Mauricio - I too loved the reference to Virginia and Little Red Riding Hood. I've seen renditions where the fairytale character has a snake-like edge, just like our Ginny.

Judy B - I'm thinking that either Martín or Verónica will give Pablo a new job at some point.

Ah well, thanks NM and Mari. You've put my mind at ease (it's JUST a story, JUST a story.)

NovellaMaven, this is a good and comical
Recap.
"Botel is In attendence in his professional plaid". most doctors put on white coats botel puts on plaid.long as he's comfortable while he's doing his doctorin.
" she hasn't had any bleeding and that's a good sign". in real life she would have been bleeding all over the place and would have had a miscarriage by now. There's the miracle of TV. roll down a hill with your future husband in your wedding dress and super baby is just fine with all them bumps hittin those hard rocks.

Manny is just plain evil, a product of old goat.

Jorge is being nice again, but wait!!!

I wish happiness for Julio. somebody please make that man happy. " Gaby"? Maybe? No.
Somebody.:-(

NovelaMaven,
You have once again outdone yourself with this gem of a recap. I feel as if I just finished reading a novel by one of my favorite authors.

ITA with the Red Riding Hood reference. It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw Ginny. I don't know what to think of it. It's either very fitting, or a fashion catastrophe.

I am confused about the gold shipment. I was under the impression that the gold Lorenzo had was the real deal (because the workers from La Morenita were loading it) and the "gold" Manny had in the barrel was the fake. I figured that the worker from La Perla was driving the truck so that at some point a switch of some kind could be made. But that did not happen. Unless the Uni scissors made an appearance. I am soooo confused about this.

Thanks again NovelaMaven
Hasta Pronto!

Nina, you are so funny.

"There's the miracle of TV. roll down a hill with your future husband in your wedding dress and super baby is just fine with all them bumps hittin those hard rocks."

You really cracked me up with that. Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the kind words.

Hi AuntyAnn,
You're very welcome. So glad you liked the recap.

I may have completely misinterpreted the gold thing. It did seem as though chunks of narrative were missing. I guess we'll have to wait and see what comes next. We do know a few things:

-Manny plans to steal (or has stolen) the gold bars from La Morenita
-Manny has used the mold from La Morenita to concoct fake gold bars.

I assume that:
-The plan was to replace the real gold with the fakes before delivery to Prado Castelo
-When Prado Castelo figured out they had paid a fortune for the fakes, they would assume Marty had pulled a fast one on them and Marty's reputation would be shot. He'd also stand to lose a fortune.

But you're right, we didn't really see how or even if the switch was accomplished.

NovelaMaven, thanks for an excellent recap which made the choppy episode bearable. Lots of funny lines, as cited by many commenters. The red cape as mini-anvil--LOL. No reason to wear that unless it's a label that her downfall is beginning.

Laughed at Vero being able to order the helicopter to the rescue. I was thinking Marty and Pablo might make a human chair and carry AP in their arms.

Nice birthday party and good to see Margarita, La Diosa de la Cumbia again. I was also confused by the gold delivery scam.

Thanks so much for the recap NovelaMaven.

I enjoyed the bday for Vero and I was loving the song as well. Martine just keeps surprising me with his romantic gestures. It brings a smile to my face whenever he does things like that for Vero.

Good dancing from Ivan and Ana.

The exchange with Emi and Virginia was funny lol.

Me too I didn't understand the gold bit! I am glad I wasnt the only one confused.

Thanks for the Spanish lessons. When this TN finishes, I need to find motivation to study my spanish everyday. It is this TN that is really keeping me motivated to continue my spanish. I am not planning on watching another telenovela anytime soon when this finishes (unless Ivan and Ana are acting together).

NovelaMaven,

Thanks for reminding us of what we DO KNOW, regarding the gold, and what we ASSUME will happen. It will help us know what to look out for. Either way this will not be good for Marty. Or for Vero and Botel because they are also associates of the mine. I am glad I was not the only one confused about that.

Duchess,
I hear you! I will totally watch another novella with Ivan and Ana. They have great chemistry and I enjoy watching them as a couple.

First allow me to thank AuntyAnn for her remarkable recap of Wed.'s episode. So well done. Your wry wit is flourishing with each recap that you do. Excellent.

Thanks for this scintillating recap NovelaMaven injecting a measure of coherence into the incoherent. I kept wondering if I might be dozing off during last night's episode, thanks for restoring a bit of confidence in my attention span. I was afraid that I was going to have to knock off the gin and tonic.

Your grammar lesson regarding seguir was quite edifying. Thanks.

As much as I was previously enjoying Virginia's malevolence I'm afraid that her character is starting to fizzle. Perhaps her writers need to back off a bit on their Paxil.

And what was with that flat tire?

At least the CCs were quite good so at least I was able to understand what I wasn't understanding.

Carlos

I'm glad we were able to clear that up, guys – it's not us, it's them! Let's hope for a bit more clarity tonight. (Or at the very least, decent CC's so that, as Carlos put it, we'll be able to understand what we are not understanding.)

My pleasure, La Paloma! I loved your suggestion:

" I was thinking Marty and Pablo might make a human chair and carry AP in their arms."
Sort of like a wedding thing, right? And she was still wearing the dress!

Duchess, I'm glad you like the little grammar bits. Watching telenovelas is a great way to improve listening skills, I think. Maybe you'll be lucky and your favorite couple will be featured together again.

AuntyAnn, I'm just hoping that, like all Manny's other schemes, this gold scam fails and Marty and company emerge relatively unscathed.

Carlos, I suspect you are giving me too much credit. There wasn't much coherence on the screen or in the recap, but my word, there was a lot of STUFF.

As for the character of Virginia fizzling, maybe malevolence just grows tedious after a while. (Or yes, maybe the writers need a change in their meds.)

Oh well. No one said that these telenovelas were for the faint of heart... or for people with standards.

Haven't seen Friday's episode yet. Just got home from a long day. So I sat down kind of as a preview to the show and looked to see if there were any comments I hadn't read previously.

I'm just writing to say that I just love this thread. It's been a really great ride for me. The wit, writing skills, snark, screen caps, and grammar nerd specials from the recappers, and comments from so many amazing, diverse Patio people with such unique takes on things. Love it! muy divertido!

Muchas gracias a todos.
