Antes muerta que Lichita #9 Friday Oct 2, 2015. Roberto begins to realize some feelings toward Lichita and continues to coach her to get some backbone. Lichita finds out Luciana caused Nachos accident and Nacho accuses Luciana.

I will try to edit this some tomorrow, it is a very rough/raw draft.

Lichita tells everyone that Luciana presented HER ideas… its not the first time an idea of hers is stolen.

Sandra says don’t play games… asks Lichita if it is true that her ideas were stolen again. (Lichita asks us the audience if she should spill the beans)… so she hesitates and Sandra rants at her. The rules of the agency are above everything else~! (and CHuchette and Nestor use the moment to rant at Lichita too).

In comes Augusto and sarcastically/selfishly wants to hear that they have a great campaign idea… Luciana is more than willing to redo her presentation. Lichita looks at Roberto as if asking for backup. Roberto nods a yes to her… (stay tuned…)

We go to the neighborhood where Magos is collecting the money for the tanda… Nacho walks by and the neighbors comment that Nacho is down /depressed. They ask Magos what is going on with her. Magos looks a bit concerned due to the comments.

Augusto likes Luciana’s idea… He says ‘as much as I don’t want to’ I have to congratulate you on a great idea. He did not think she would learn the ‘intribulis’ (intricacies) advertising world so fast. Immediately Luciana asks for a promotion or compensation of some kind for her ‘outstanding efforts’.

Magos tries to get her dad to forgive her… apparently she got a ticket (with corresponding fine) for speeding. (sorry I missed about a minute here)… Nacho nags that there is some missing money from the ‘tanda’ or some money he had around.

Lichita stops Augusto from leaving… she finds some courage… ‘I have to tell you that the idea from Ms Luciana is…’ (she changes her mind half way through) … ‘ … is … very good…. Very good!’. (Roberto looks disappointed)
Some young rich girls playing with barbies at a school … ah! One of them is Magos daughter (?) …

Back in Roberto’s office, Lichita is crying. Roberto wants her to explain what went on… Lichita desperately tells him that Luciana stole her ideas again. Roberto nags at her saying she should have said that inside the conference room in front of everyone. The advertising world is a ‘dog eat dog’ world. Roberto tells her that with her promo and her office he was trying to compensate her… but she let people step on her again.

Lichita said that she grew up working for her things… not stealing or lying to get ahead.

At Luciana’s office Nestor and CHuchette offer help to Luciana to decorate her office in her own taste. Luciana says ‘you are born with class’. You can’t study for it or work for it. Roberto comes in and wants to talk to Luciana. Luciana says they can go to a restaurant. He says no restaurant and I don’t have a car to take you anywhere so can we talk now?? As CHuchette is leaving she grabs Roberto’s chin as is all over him.

Augusto is at Sandra’s office with his hands all over her. He tells her that he thought Luciana would be gone in a day and it turns out she did so well she got a promotion! Sandra and him start playing a skid… she is afraid Luciana will win him over… he says no way but I will use her even if I can’t stand her. Luciana has his character so with her, the agency will go far. He says he has to go to a dinner party at his house with some family friends of his ‘beautiful marriage’.

Luciana now has Lichita in her office… She, Nestor and CHuchette team up to bully Lichita some more. Nestor stays behind when Chuchette and Luciana leave… he gossips to Lichita that Luciana crashed a company car the other night… but since she is the owner’s niece… but he says he will find a way to use that information to his own benefit, because info is power. He tells Lichita that she could not use the info because no one would believe anything she says, so get to work!

Augusto and Beatriz are arguing about Daphne again. She tells him Daphne ordered delivery junk food. He jokes that Daphne would oink-oink in the city. Bea accuses that he is not a good father, he could care less for his own children. (should be like Jacob with his children) (Jacob from the bible?)

Roberto on phone with Gumaro… he tells him the whole company is full of vultures here. If he does what he does is for his son… But Luciana does it for pure ambition… Then he admits to Gumaro that the more he gets to know Alicia the more he likes her and the more he trusts her. Gumaro also reminds him that Alicia is also falling for him. Roberto is still in denyal ‘no te confundas!’

Luciana is in Roberto’s office. She thinks he wanted to get romantic. He is serious with her, all he wants to know is why she stole Alicia’s idea. She just goes ‘ay…… .ay!.... ay’.

At the model apartment, Gumaro has to bring out the signs again. Ah! It is the owner of the place who came by to find out how the sales are going. Gumaro b’s’s his way through. The owner wants to see the visitor’s registry (the people who came to see the apartment). The owner says Gumaro has to keep helping him, this one location is very far for him so Gumaro has to keep helping him. Gumaro will talk to his brother… the guy says they are selling like hot bread… and soon even this model apt will be sold. This freezes Gumaro a bit. When the guy leaves, Gumaro is a bit freaked.

Luciana tells Roberto that ideas float in the air (ahd she goes on to fish some ideas out of the air with her hands). Luciana wonders why he is so worried about the insignificant woman. Roberto seriously demands that she respect the fact that the three of them will work on this campaign as a team. Luciana gets closer to him and closer to his lips… she just likes to be honest. Roberto starts talking to her in her same tone but he moves away and says he has no eyes or time for anything but work. She assures him that is what he says now, but soon enough he will be drooling for her.

At the dinner party, there are another two couples with Augusto and Bea… and suddenly one of the women ask about their daughter, if she is out of her camp. Suddenly Daphne comes out dressed in black… (is this a dream?)

At the parking lot of the office building, Lichita gets the garage vigilant to show her where the company cars are… The guy shows Lichita the damage to the yellow car. She sees the licence plate that matches the parts that Nacho got to write down. She gets really mad… surely it was this car which crashed with him. She remembers Nestor telling her about Luciana crashing one of the company cars… Lichita gets mad, starts to make sounds like a horse and looks like a speeding train…

Roberto asks Luciana if she is so sure he has fallen for her. Luciana says there has not been any man who can resist her… He walks away ‘good afternoon!’ Luciana tells herself ‘you will fall soon enough’. Lichita comes in, wants to talk about… Luciana cuts her off, has nothing to talk to a sub-alterna about (someone below her work level/rank), she only talks to people at her level or above.

Ok, it was NOT a dream. Daphne has a growing audience now… she brought a whole tray of food downstairs and is eating it all herself while a whole audience of at least 10 couples are watching her quietly and Augusto and Bea are clutching their teeth and start ‘faking’ pride in introducing their daughter. Luciana comes in and also starts faking being so happy that her cousin is home again. Daphne does not buy it and lets her know. Luciana gets under Augusto’s arm and tells everyone that she was just promoted today at the office ‘congratulate me! Congratulate me!’ Daphne gives her the killer stare.

At home Lichita has told her parents that it was Luciana who crashed into him. Elsa says now that we know who hit you the insurance will pay. Nacho says he could get Lichita in trouble at work. Lichita says Don Augusto is fair enough that they could expect him to make Luciana show face. Lichita answers the phone. Seems it is a collection agency expecting her to make a payment on her credit card. She shrieks at hearing how much would the minimum payment be.

At the model apartment, Roberto is already feeling ‘things’ for a woman. Gumaro wants to know who.

Now Elsa and Nacho are at table talking about the credit card debt. Magos says who needs to worry? Now Lichita can pay up with her new title and salary. Magos says the neighbors are putting in their money on the tanda. Nacho is surprised any of the neighbors are participating. Magos says all the neighbors know about Lichita’s rising on the corporate ladder… Elsa also has some words of pride for Lichita, who just shrinks on her chair…

Roberto is doing push up s still telling Gumaro about everything that happened to Alicia at the office today. Gumaro says well, you did things to her also, like using what she knows to keep your job. Roberto gets mad at Gumaro who is playing the voice of his conscience.

Lichita is at office, gets a call from Elsa, who is working at the Deli at the store… Elsa says she knows Lichita is worried about their debt. Elsa keeps coaching her that slowly but surely we will get out of this hole… besides you will soon be earning more money with your new title. Lichita tells her she has to talk to her about that but will tell her tonight. Roberto is behind her and scares her a bit. He wants to apologize to her for nagging at her. But he wants her to be more careful. Remember where we are swimming every day (yeah, in a shark tank). Roberto tells her he could not help but hear she has not told her family yet about her not getting her new title. Eeryone has reasons for doing or hiding things, but you have to be careful, it shows you are not used to telling lies. … suddenly he sees someone he knows, a woman who has come to the office to see him. It is the woman from the orphanage… Suddenly here comes Luciana, who introduces herself as the new creative director of the Oki Oki campaign. Roberto has to exaggerate his orders as their boss… (since he has to show this woman that he does work here in an executive job). The woman says that is what she came to, to confirm that he works there. But furthermore, she needs him to show her what his job there is all about.

Bea is still anxious and upset about Daphne’s bedroom. Daphne says who cares, since I will be locked in here for good. IF that is the case, I will have my room look any way I choose! Bea asks her what is wrong that she is behaving so like a rebel. Daphne says it has to do with her cousin Lucianita being around now. Bea says all she wants is for the two of them to get along. Daphne asks where that ‘sangrona’ (jerk) came from. Bea insists that Daphne change the look of her room.

Luciana at the office treats Lichita like a doormat… Lichita tells her I am not your assistant, I am not your messenger… and I won’t let you step on me… Luciana basically undermines her and even makes moo sounds to her (recalling the cow costume)… at the agency everyone knows that you could never be in charge of the oki oki account. Lichita warns her that Luciana can believe whatever she wants… but soon enough everyone will know who she truly is…. Luciana then pulls out the card of her surnames… if you want to keep your job, you better follow my lead… go… go. Lichita leaves, but she tells us that she did leave, but what she really wanted to do is give her a piece of her mind…

Nacho is at police station making the accusation of Luciana being the one that crashed his car. He is looking the piece of paper where he wrote the licence plate number of Luciana’s car.

Roberto has taken the agency woman to his office. She is suspicious that he could get a job like this with no preparation… he tries to fake it to her that he has to work on a very important project. She wants to know where/ how he got this sudden great talent for advertising. Luciana comes in and realizes what is going on so she actually helps him with the story by telling him she wants to talk to him about the oki oki campaign so they can review it together. Roberto has to push Luciana out the door physically. The agency lady insists louder that she wants him to explain how someone with no background like him got a job of campaign executive at this agency.

CHuchette comes to give Luciana the bad news about her being accused of crashing his taxi. Chuchette suggests to Luciana to buy Nacho out with a few pesos. Luciana wants Chuchette to do the deal for her. But Chuchette says she is too busy. It is your problem.

Roberto still trying to convince the lady, but to no avail… he says lying is bad… well, not so bad. Well, lying is bad indeed. She is tired of the give and take… she warns him she will leave giving him the benefit of the doubt for now, but if she finds out he is lying his way in here, he will lose any chance of getting Mateo. He confesses to her that his son is the most important one to him.

Lichita comes in… the agency lady finally leaves. Roberto tells Lichita that the agency lady is his aunt. Lichita says you had told me your only relative is Gumaro… well, yes.

Luciana is at the police station and is outraged that she has to sit down and wait until she is called. She starts talking nasty to Nacho. Nacho explains to her that he is the one that accused her. He tells her that he can’t believe that someone with her education would hit him and run out of the scene. Luciana stands up and engages in argument with him. Luciana starts talking about the woman she has to deal with at work. Nacho tells her that Alicia Gutierrez is his daughter. He argues that Lichita is a Creative director at the agency. Luciana is super happy to clarify to him that Lichita is a gopher who makes copies and brings people coffee… she is no executive.

Previews: Luciana gets a hold of Roberto’s resume (the one he submitted for the job). Seems she realizes he faked all his background… she tells Chuchette she wants him. More flirting from Luciana to Roberto… warns Roberto that she will tell Augusto what she knows… VO tells Lichita to fight for what she wants, someone else is about to steal it(him) from her.

Marta, you gave us an excellent summary. Gracias!

I enjoyed your title which reflected the gist of this episode perfectly. "Remember where we are swimming every day (yeah, in a shark tank)" was one of my favorite lines. Appreciate your many interesting details.

"(Roberto looks disappointed)". Ummm, really?? He is disappointed Lichita doesn't tell that Luciana stole her presentation, yet he is guilty of doing the exact same thing. Is he any less of an imposter than Luciana? I think not.

Is there anyone here who is on the up and up? :) While I'm relieved that Gumaro has pricked Roberto’s guilty conscience, he is not exactly a pillar of honest living is he? ;)

Congrats to Luciana who while continuing to push her way into a life and lifestyle to which she is not entitled, has now managed to not only relieve Nacho of his ability to provide for his family but further breaks his heart by revealing Lichita did not receive the promotion. Lichita should have told her family but her reasoning was to give her parents the illusion she finally has the job she so wanted and deserved. The one character here who actually thinks and cares about others.

I am not even going to comment on Augusto and Beatriz and their scene with Daphne. Instead, I am going to say how much I love Maite's performance here. She has hit every note perfectly. She is a lovely soul who is giving and kind. I wish her every success and look forward to happier days ahead for her.

Marta, thank you so much!

Thank you so much, Marta! I missed so much happened last night. Your details are very appreciated.

Dafne is an angry girl, but I like her. I would love to see her team up with Lichita.

Marta, thank you for the fab recap!

Interesting:

Augusto's entry into one of the very first scenes. He reminded me of a cartoon character with his broad physical movements, exaggerated facial expression and loud laugh. He was like a villain of old. Much of this novela has that "cartoonish" touch in my opinion.

Already, Magos seemed rather "vague" about the participants' info re: the "tanda".

Sandra doing her imitation of Luciana for Augusto.

The whole lovey dovey scene between Augusto and Sandra. It was as if they were almost doing a dance.

Néstor having the accident info on that "sangrona" Luciana and being almost giddy as he thinks how he might use it for his own benefit. He is not as stupid as he has been acting.

Luciana talking about and watching "the ideas just floating in the air."

Dafne's new decor in purple, black and grey seemed an improvement to me but was described as a "satanic temple" by Beatriz. Yikes!

The orphanage actually sending out a social worker to see that Roberto had a real job.

Lichita seems to be getting angrier and angrier. When will that translate into action?

My favorite scene:

Dafne the center of attention in all of her rebellious glory (self described as gothic) sitting on the couch in front of her parents' guests eating away and talking about how her black dress makes her look less fat. Loved everyone's expression. Also, loved that she refused to be "upstaged" by Luciana and kept pushing to get to the front to be seen.

My least favorite scenes:

Lichita getting the call from the bank about making the minimal payment on her credit card and feeling the responsibility of supporting her family. She cannot catch a break: not even a moment to tell them the truth: Basically the same story the second time in the first nine episodes.

Luciana telling Nacho the truth about Lichita's position at the police station.

Diana, "is there anyone here who is upon the up and up?" is the question of the day. I was so surprised that even Nestor's fawning over Luciana was an act. He seemed so much a "fan" before he became a conniver. Icónika is truly a shark tank.

Jarifa- I really liked Dafne's new room decor, too!

I'm also glad you keep mentioning "cartoonist." It's helping me digest everything and giving me a less dire context.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Dafne is actually "on the up and up." She is angry and acting out, but she has been very forthcoming with her parents. She's let them know why she is angry. And we've seen that she can be kind and respectful (with Lichita.) I see no reason for her to be respectful to Luciana. I'm torn when it comes to her parents. They are awful, but they have provided her with food, shelter and an education, but not much else emotionally. I'm still not sure that warrants her berrinches. Although that it's typical preteen and teen behavior.

I wonder if the son will come on the scene and how the siblings get along.

Sara, I would love to see the brother, too. I think Augusto described him as being "an eternal student" to the guests. I would also love to see Augusto and Beatriz send Dafne to Icónika to work. She sure could shake things up in a good way.

So much of this is like a cartoon with the colors, camera angles and over exaggerations. I thought Luciana's eyes were going to pop out of her head at one time last night. Then there is Augusto who physically controls his environment: like the proverbial bull in the china shop.
Too funny!

I loved Augusto's podium desk and huge chair at the meeting. His throwing around English was funny too. "EH-STOP!" HAHAHAHA!

Jarifa, you nailed it with "So much of this is like a cartoon with the colors, camera angles and over exaggerations" and "...Augusto who physically controls his environment: like the proverbial bull in the china shop" which were spot on.

I think Daphne had two choices. The first was to shrivel up and stay out of sight and out of mind or second, to be bold and audacious. Sara, I agree she is on the "up and up". She is standing up to her parents by saying she is there, she is who she is and making no apologies or pretenses. Her parents gave her life's physical necessities but none of its' emotional ones - love and support. How can a child exist knowing her parents are ashamed of her? I'm so disappointed in Beatriz. I also like her room!

Diana

Thanks, Marta. Fine recap.

So glad Daphne is feisty instead of depressed. When Luciana grabbed Daphne’s cheeks and said “oink oink,” within earshot of Beatriz I might add, Daphne would’ve been within her rights to throw Luciana right out of there. A cousin coming in my own home and insulting me? Please.

But I’m sure Luchita and Daphne won’t stay down for long. No idea what will happen, but I’m guessing Daphne will change her mother for the better.

In my fantasy, Luchita leaves Iconika to work for that rival PR company (and safeguards her files), then Roberto and Luciana would have no ideas. I like Roberto but if he can't do something to clamp down Luciana, Luchita is better off without him.

Love your recaps Marta. Thank you

Sadly, not only was Augusto and Beatriz horrible to their daughter but their friends too. They couldn't wait to focus all their attention on Beatriz's surrogate daughter, Luciana.

I'll be shocked if Nacho follows through and holds Luciana accountable, he's stupid.

Magos is already spending the raise Luchita did not get and no one is stopping her

"So glad Daphne is feisty instead of depressed.

ME TOO!!! Maybe some of Dafne's fight can rub off on Lichita and some of Lichita's desire to keep the peace will rub off on Dafne.

Right now neither girl is approaching their problems 100% the right way.

Am I making sense?

Thanks! The good thing about the recaps is, when I watch I can FF through all the Mean Girls scenes (of which there are SO MANY) and be confident anything important I miss will come out here on the patio! On Monday I will take one for the team and watch it all, even the awful bits! Why doesn't Lichita's hippy friend tell everybody that Lichita was the one with the idea?

Thanks for the recap!!

Roberto may like Lichi but he's going to go with the person that keeps him in his job to get his kid back. But he also knows that both he and Lucky Luc needs Lichis ideas. Somehow he has to keep them both happy.

Thank you Martaivett---A great show and a great recap. The recaps always augment the shows.

I hated seeing Maite/Lichita crying in Friday's episode. A goddess should never have to cry.

It sure didn't take any time at all to start disliking Luciana. Who will be able to reign her in? It's only the second week of this novela and Luciana is already out of control. Roberto won't be able to do much, he needs to keep his job and so far---Lichita is no match against her. I hope that changes soon, very soon.

Is it possible that Daphne can somehow team up with Lichita? Lichita is going to need all the help that she can get. I don't know what young Daphne will be able to do---maybe make a lot of trouble for Luciana or she might at some point in the future put in a good word for Lichita with her dad.

I hope that Nacho presses charges, some kind of a hit and run charge or will he be
bullied by Luciana telling him of her family ties and if he wants his daughter to continue to have a job, it would be wise for him to forget about pressing charges over the accident.

Can't wait for Monday to see hoe this plays out.
must see tv

Marta- Thanks so much for this recap. I only got to watch the episode today. I really wish Nacho hadn't even mentioned Lichita to Luciana. Luciana is gathering too much info on Lichita and Roberto, and knowledge is power.

I really like Daphne's new color scheme and decorations-- purple, gray and black, and her rebellion at the boring adult party.

Thank you, Marta! These episodes are so packed with information, I feel like I need the recap to really take it all in.

Can't wait for tonight!!!

Thanks Marta for your fab summary. To echo 5ft...these recaps do help fill in anything i missed.

The oink oink jokes on Daphne was soo not funny...even worse coming from adults! I am glad she is angry and acting out with her parents.

Roberto must have listened to me. He finally picked up a book about his job...although from his meeting with the social worker the next day he didnt sound any smarter. Oh well...baby steps. And I am sooo glad that Roberto caught Luciana spying on his conversation with the social worker. Information is definitely power in this vicious company and I can only take so much of Luciana.

JIngrid Martz is sure good at what she does. Just thinking back to "shut up doris" in CI and QPTR.
