Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #25 Mon 9/28/15 (Mex 33-34) A Promise Is a Promise!

Ciao, Muchacha Patio Peeps!  We pick up with Eloisa pointedly asking Pedro what is going on between him and Fiorella.  We get the first installment of our potential lovers back-peddling and offering mealy-mouthed denials of their love.  Oh, she’s just a nice girl who’s had a tough break with her father dying and she takes care of her sick sister.  What’s wrong with taking her to dinner?  Eloisa hopes that’s all it is.  Hasn't Pedro heard about poor, sweet, innocent young girls who take a shine to wealthy men?  Doesn’t he see what a disaster bringing someone who doesn't "fit", like Sonia, into the family was?  She doesn’t want her fortune going to someone who doesn’t deserve it.  Fiorella is NOT like Sonia!  Granny shouldn’t worry, Fiorella is engaged anyway and he'll probably marry as well. . .one day.

RPC.  Freddie and Dante discuss Fiorella.  Freddie thinks she’s taken with Pedro and wants to take the family for their fortune.  Dante doesn’t think Fiorella is a gold digger.  Freddie gets pissed, Dante tries to “soothe” her ire.  Yuck.

Vitto talks to Rey about his leaving Diana for Fiorella.  Rey thinks Diana is a better choice.  Fiorella is a fantasy match for Vitto, she’s little more than a child.  Well, Diana is younger than him, too.  Yeah, but she’s at least ten years older than Fiorella maintains Rey.  Vitto's not giving up his dream girl.

Pedro apparently asked Fiorella to meet him in the study to finish their talk.  He asks and she answers that it is true that she does not want to marry Viottorio, that she doesn’t love him.  And he doesn’t love you, Pedro asserts, he can’t love you; you are in love with me, aren’t you?  Eloisa enters, sizes up the situation and dismisses Fifi.  She is HER assistant, not Pedro's!  Pedro and Fiorella are locked in a longing gaze which Granny rips Fifi away from.  They leave and Granny shoots Pedro a “watch your step, boy” gaze of her own.

At El Corporativo, Gael catches Fabio and Sonia with a not-business like air about them.  Fabio indeed had just proposed a nookie session just before Gael entered the room.  After Fabio leaves, Gael asks Sonia what the heck she’s up to, first he catches her leaving Pedro’s bedroom and now flirting with Fabio?  Of course she’s working for the good of the partnership with the Italians.  If he doesn’t believe that, why doesn’t he tell his brother as much?  She dials Osvaldo and gives Gael the phone.  Osvaldo tells Gael that everything is bad in Monterrey.  Gael says that everything is fine there and passes the phone back to Sonia who coos about how much she misses Osvaldo.  That’s all right.  Gael’s got this ho’s number.

Eloisa is happily pulling Aitana into the family dynamics and even wants Aitana and Fiorella to get to know each other while she goes to take a call.  They have a terse and awkward exchange about where Fiorella is from.  Yeah.  You can cut the air with a knife.  Freddie hangs around in the background sponging up everything as usual, Aitana and Pedro make small talk and Eloisa returns from having taken her call.  What a surprise!  It was Fiorella’s fiancé!  Granny didn’t know she was engaged!  Fifi looks like the bottom just dropped out of her stomach.  Aitana claps with mock joy and grabs Pedro’s arm.    Granny, Freddie and Aitana shoot questions at the speechless Fiorella, including when is she leaving (Freddie).  Granny Eloisa has happily invited Vitto over later for coffee.   Pedro’s face wears the same look of shocked pain that Fifi’s does.  She runs from the room in tears.  Pedro excuses himself to go and make a call.  Eloisa thanks Freddie for pulling her coat about the sparks between Fiorella and Pedro but, if she’s getting married, there’s nothing to worry about.  Chuckle, chuckle!

Pedro runs after Fiorella and catches her near the employees quarters.  It’s hopeless, Eloisa doesn’t like her, he’s going to marry “that pretty girl” and she is going to marry Vittorio.  But he can’t stand it!  It’s destiny, she sobs..  Uh oh.  Confession alert!  Last night he got drunk he was so upset over her and he, he did some “things.”  What things?  He doesn’t answer but asks if she loves him.  “Do you love me, I have to know.”  They are gently cradling one another’s faces in their hands.  “I love you more than my life, I promise!” Fiorella answers and Pedro moves in for a kiss which, of course, is interrupted, this time by the gravely shouts of Dante.  Aitana wants him back at the house.  By the time Pedro turns back to talk to Fiorella, she is gone.  But we see she was hiding.  After Pedro gives up and leaves she quietly cries, “Adios Pedro, it was nice while it lasted, very nice!”

Vitto prepares for coffee at the Angeles, the voices in his head and a flashback of his reading the letter from Mario in which he asked Vitto to "not leave his daughters alone" onvinces him he is God’s gift to Fiorella and off he goes.

Fiorella cries to Quina, Simoneta and Gianna.  They try to calm and support her and convince her she doesn’t have to, she should NOT marry Vitto if she doesn’t want to.  Quina thinks she should calm down so when Vitto comes, she can tell him the truth!

Vitto arrives at El Rancho.  Eloisa, Julieta, Sergio, Roxie and Sonia await the arrival of Fiorella.  Eloisa wants Pedro and Aitana there as well.  They are outside in the garden.  Aitana asks Pedro wouldn’t he like to get back together with her and punctuates the question by smooshing her face against Pedro’s.  Of course Fiorella, walking to the big house with Gianna and Simoneta, passes by juuuust in time to see the face smoosh.  Hoo boy!

Fiorella enters the living room and sees  Granny, the Geezer, Sergio and the Vultures.  Vitto stands and holds forth all flowery about how he’s gonna marry the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen in his life.  There is a decidedly comic air to Sonia, Julieta, Freddie and Roxi cackling sarcastically about what a great couple they make and I’m sure poor Fifi’s head is spinning.  In the background we see Pedro and Aitana enter the living room.  When Vitto announces they will marry within a month, Fiorella’s knees give out and she crumples in a heap on the floor.  Pedro runs to her side.

While she is unconscious she has a blue-hued dream in which she, in full wedding regalia,  is escorted down the aisle by both Pedro and Vitto.  Pedro! Protests that she can’t marry Vitto! she loves him!  No, but she made a promise to her father.  Pedro counters that if he were alive, he would want her to marry who she loved!  Vito! says let’s ask and there as the priest is Mario!  Are you ready, Mario! asks.  When Fifi! looks at Vitto! she says no, when she looks at Pedro! she says yes.  Mario! sprinkles the three with holy water and Fiorella comes to as Pedro is sprinkling her with water and she gently calls his name.  Twice.  Pedro offers to take her to her room but Vitto insists on doing so.

Back to the drama at El Rancho in a minute.  Over at El Corporativo, Gael tries unsuccessfully to make Fabio tell him what the problem is between him and Osvaldo; why did Osvaldo attack him? Fabio cooly blows him off, and tells him to ask his brother if he's so convinced there's a problem and leaves the office.

At El Rancho, Skanky Sonia sexually harasses Pedro in the hallway.  She’s jealous of Aitana.  Forget it, nothing happened!  You’re my cousin’s wife, I was drunk, it was a mistake.  He angrily exits, leaving the Skank alone.

Gael runs into the kitchen with a huge tackle box.  Gianna is there.  He heard someone wanted to know if there was a Dr. in the house.  Fiorella's  fine.  He also heard her sister was getting married.  Does that mean Gigi is leaving?  She wonders if that means he cares?  Well, he wants to help her with the paperwork to get her studying underway.  Gael says he contacted her school in Italy and they sent her certificate.  They have an appointment with the registrar in the morning!  Grazie always goes with a hug for Gianna and hugging Gianna always evokes a swoon in Gael.  Ahhhh!

In Fiorella’s room she tries to level with Vittorio.  Fiorella says they looked and looked for him and finally gave up, and she took a job at the Angeles place.  He asks if she is in love with Pedro and FIORELLA SAYS NO!!  She denies that his age bothers her as well and says the problem is that he lied to her.  If he apologized for that, I missed it.  He offers her a cell phone which she reluctantly accepts.  She doesn’t have to remain an employee:  he can give her a better life.  The mission of his life will be to convince him he’s a good man.  Vitto leaves. . . .

.. . . and Pedro rushes in.  They have to talk!   One day they are dreaming of a life together and the next she's about to marry Vittorio!  Fifi petulantly confronts him about the “kiss” with Aitana.  She refuses to accept that it was initiated and forced by Aitana and besides, what about her with a wedding date and all.  It’s a promise she protests—again!  Pedro’s had it.  If she doesn’t want to fight for their love then from now on, she doesn’t exist for him.  If there was anything, it’s over now!  He leaves.  She cries!

Sonia is in their bedroom when Osvaldo arrives back from Monterrey, tired and disgruntled about how crappy things went.  He fends off her kisses and attempts at a massage (does this woman ever think of anything else?).  It’s morning already and they both have to go to the office.  He heads for the shower.  She is pissed.

Fiorella is with Eloisa going over some stuff on a tablet.  Eloisa is all chirpy and chatty about the wedding.  She wants to get a Priest she knows to officiate at the wedding and get a wedding planner.  Fiorella jumps up and says she doesn’t want to marry Vittorio.  Eloisa asks if there’s someone else, asks about the age issue and even asks if she likes Pedro.  Se denies there is anyone else, admits that Vitto misrepresented his age in a picture he sent:  Not only is he too old for her; he’s too old for Eloisa as well!  She evades the question about Pedro.  It’s just that she always dreamed of marrying, of her wedding day and now. . . .Fiorella excuses herself and leaves.  Yes honey, no young girl imagines herself marrying a man that could be her great grandfather.

Pedro is ending a meeting with Fabio as Osvaldo arrives.  Fabio and Osvaldo exchange stink eyes.  Osvaldo tells Pedro he failed.  He couldn’t get the Monterrey plant back up and running.  Pedro starts to rip Ozzie another anal orifice but suddenly realizes the unlawful entry into another orifice he just committed last night (or so he thinks) and that stops his assault so quickly Osvaldo is shocked!  Pedro tells Ozzie to give him a report of his trip and they’ll find another solution.  Osvaldo moments later asks Sonia what is up with Pedro and tells her what happened.  “Maybe it’s love.”  She goes.  Aitana? He asks.  She doesn’t know and doesn’t care.  She leaves.  Osvaldo looks suspicious.

Fifi pleads to her San Biagio card that he knows she loves Pedro, but she has to complete her promise to Vitto and forget Pedro.  But she doesn’t want Pedro to hate her.  She says she knows, then changes it to that she believes she is doing the right thing.  What’s that racket?  Oh.  Her new cell phone and her new main squeeze.  RPC on all the lovey dovey Italian rapping he does to her.  Like her, we roll our eyes.  On the other side we see Diana walk up just as Vitto realizes he’s been hung up on.  He bluntly tells her he’s got a wedding date.  She is shocked.  “Don’t make dramas.  You will keep your job.”  “But I’ve lost you.”  Vitto tells her he’s truly sorry and walks away.   Diana wonders aloud where this danged Italian chick came from and tries to pump the waiter for information. I think he says that Benito was in love with her.  Feel free to fill in here.

Gael and Gianna are at the Registrar’s office of whatever University is nearby.  They are trying to get her credits transferred and other such college stuff cleared so she can start matriculating.  At first it will take a month and then, after Gael says he and Gianna are novios and can only marry on the condition that she complete her studies, the Registrar dude can expedite the process and she can start in 15 days if they invite him to the wedding!  And oh, that means they can get married at the same time as Fiorella and have a double wedding!  Que the hell!?   If Gael is joking, I hope Gianna knows that!

Well, Sonia has answered Fabio’s booty call and they lie in bed plotting.  I apologize for not giving you some neat Italian saying Fabio offered up.  Essentially, Sonia is pissed at Osvaldo AND Pedro. . .Fabio’s ears prick up. . .why is she pissed at Pedro?  Sonia plays it off.  They are both so mean to her, she wants to get back at them both and he’s going to help her!

In Vitto's office at La Dolce Vita, Diana is going through papers in Vitto’s office.  She finds a leather bound notebook in one of his drawers and writes something down from it, smiling as she does so.  BUS-TED!  "What are you doing?" Vitto demands!

Skankia and Fabio put part one of their plan into place:  they are going to use family secrets  to figuratively screw Ozzie and Pedro since she can’t the real thing.  Fabio, under the guise of extending posthumous happy birthday to Maximo, outs Pedro as having been the victim of a shooting at the family hunting expedition.  Eloisa is stunned and Gael and Osvaldo’s mouths drop open in shock as she repeats aloud what she's just been told!

Okay, there ya go Peeps! I'll edit more tomorrow. Have at it!

Grazie, Lila!

This was a combo of episodes 33 and 34. I think there is some footage of Diana and Vittorio missing but nothing important. I also think you don't mind being spared Simona gushing about Vittorio, which I Just Don't Get. Also some of Sergio and Julieta.

Some of the background music sounds like it's coming from Italian movies of 40+ years ago and that might also explain the absurd braids Fiorella is wearing now.

Buena notte...

Lila this was a fun recap, thanks for that.
Now, The funny part was when fifi told Eli
That vitto is to old for her and to old for Eli too. the man is ancient, cause Elis over 80?!?! And he Knows hes to old for fiorella too, he'd have to Take the whole bottle of cialas, and have a spare of the blue pills waiting in the wings. I think he knows fifi don't want to be
Married to an old geezer she'll be burying after the honeymoon. He don't have to marry her to give her and gigi a good life.
And since when does Eloisa and Freddie get together and plot. Even dante knows figi is a
Good girl. Goldilocks is pushy. Why is she
Kissin up to granny to get her and pedro back together, is her family business in trouble?
Sneaky skank, just guessin, wouldn't be to
Surprised tho, why does she pick now to come back? I don't like her.

Ok check back tomorrow!!
Nighty night peeps!!!

One more thing, why is she wearin Dorothy's
Braids? Shes got beautiful hair she should
loosen it and give Pedro something to run his fingers through. cuz in aitana's hair he'd probably get all tangled up with broken nails.

Ok, now good night!!! Hey yall beautiful moon out Tonight.

Gracias Lila. Wonderful recap and you hit all the "good" stuff....was there any good stuff? Just the right amount of snark and last night's antics were ripe for it.

If it wasn't for Gael and Gianna (their smiles were registering on the voltage meter!), I was ready to just switch over to baseball last night. Gael is more my galan right now.

Frankly, the whole Vitto thinking he's God's gift is making me nauseous and it's not even fun to watch. The way Fi is being put up as some show over this is disgusting. And Eloisa...yeah, that woman is down about 8 pegs on the latter to me. Snob extraordinaire. So we can definitely see why her family is tripping over themselves to please the snooty matriarch. It's all about standing and money with her. Blech.

I give it Pedro in that he kept trying to knock some sense into Fi, and this whole "it's a promise"....ah, no it isn't. You made a promise to your father after he was already gone. When you are deceived, there is no promise to keep, so this whole way of thinking is ridiculous. Don't like they are painting Fifi as not too bright and gullible with this whole scenario.

And for cripes sake...ditch the pig tail braids. I saw those last night and wanted to throw something at the TV. What was the point of the dress? Ok...whatever. Frustrating episode last night.

Daisynjay

Thank you Lila! I didn't get to watch last night and this morning I have to get to school early for a meeting about the district grading and retention policy. Believe me when I tell you I can't wait to read this recap. It's my prize for not punching anyone in the throat before 9 am.

Buongiorno e grazie, Urbanita! Grazie for your reassurance that we didn't miss too much. If Simona was gushing about Vitto, she back tracked (like some other people we know) when Fiorella was crying. See you later in the morning!

Nina Amica, you're early today! Grazie! Yah, I had to put that in when Fifi said Vitto was even too old for Eloisa! HA! I think Eloisa was truly grateful to know about Pedro and Fiorella but she has no idea how underhanded Freddie is. The plotting is all on Freddie's side. And Dante admitting that Fiorella is not an opportunist! What's up with that? And Goldilocks, or Cousin It (who said that?) realizes what a fool she was to have left Pedro. She went to Europe to find herself and didn't find nuthin' so she's back, that's all!

Buongiorno e mille grazie, Daisynjay! Daisy, Gael was SO FINE last night! Mercy! And he was so helpful to Gigi and I love how he swoons when he holds her!

I feel you, Daisy, you speak truth:

You made a promise to your father after he was already gone. When you are deceived, there is no promise to keep, so this whole way of thinking is ridiculous.

Okay, gotta go get ready for work. Hope it's a light day and I can hang out on the Patio with y'all. Between the braids and the dubious wisdom of holding up her side of a lie and a farce, the Patio is now open for group therapy, fussin and cussin!

Lila- Girl, I could feel your desire to knock some sense into these people. I was right there with you.

In get why Pedro didn't outright admit to Eloisa that he and Fi are sort of an item, when she seems so determined to marry Vitto. But I wish he had been more forceful in telling her there would be nothing wrong if they DID choose to date, because there is nothing wrong with a woman being poor or having to work as a maid/assistant for a living (better than wondering around aimlessly "finding" yourself, like Aitana). And furthermore, he's a grown man who can make his own damn decisions about who he dates or marries.

Unfortunately, he did not make that clear to Eloisa. And he hasn't made clear to Aitana and everyone else that he has no interest in getting back together with her. Instead, he lets everyone make comments about them being a perfect match, and lets her hang all over him.

And the writers have messed up Fi. At first, if something bad happened, she'd cry for a bit, and then make a new plan and move forward with determination and a positive attitude. But now she just seems to be stuck (on stupid) and just weeps all the time.

Daisynjay- It's so funny that you say Vitto thinks he's God's gift, because that's exactly what is thought during that scene where he remembered a bit of Mario's letter (calling in his favor) and asking Vitto to help his girls. Obviously he thinks HE'S the greatest gift that Fi and Gi could receive.

Typo: That's exactly what I thought...

Buongiorno e grazie, Sara, sorella mia! I'm honored to partner with you in throat punching prevention! Hasta pronto!

Sorellina mia, Viviana! I wish Pedro had been more forceful, too, about the class difference and mainly this: And furthermore, he's a grown man who can make his own damn decisions about who he dates or marries.

Yes! See, Eloisa, it's that kind of micro managing the intimate lives of your grand offspring that has them fantasizing about your entering the pearly gates!

ITA he is also a push over with pushy Aitana. Uuuuf! This wimp factor with the galans is sooo maddening as is weepy Fifi! Wimpy and weepy!

Okay, later!

So far, all of Fi's fantasy wedding dresses have been beautiful and look fantastic on her. It's going to be hard for them to find THE most beautiful when we finally have the real wedding between our main couple.

Forgot to say that I continue to love Gi and Gael. They were so cute pretending to be novios. I don't know why they haven't kissed or decided to be real novios yet, but I'm almost glad they haven't. As soon as they do, you know all hell will break loose and things will fall apart. Better this sweet and tentative phase in the budding relationship.

Had to interrupt my reading to thank you again, Lila. Burp. Dante having to "soothe" Freddie. I feel icky just reading it. You had to see it. You are my hero.

Thanks , Lila, for another lively recap of a frustrating episode.

Well, we now know that So-no is a hoorrr for sure. Fabi-oh-no is muy skeevy. Eww Ozzie is an inept crankypants. These folks are delightful.

Sara..It is 8:37 am , and I am wondering if you have been doing any throat punching. Meetings...meh. A love the new picture. I cannot figure out how to do those, but I found some symbols on my tablet ♠♥♣♦fullhouse✴✳❇

OT..The dvd of the second half of season 1 of Outlander is out today. Squeeeeeeee I am verra, verra excited and happy.

Vivi, Gael and Gigi are the most precious thing EVA! I LOVE them! I do hope they stay in this stage longer because I'm sure were in for a maddening dry spell with our main couple. And yes, Fiorella WAS beautiful in her !wedding dress!

Grazie, Sara! I continue the tradition of being yucky scene recapper! :D

Vivi my fondest hope is that since everyone is otherwise occupied, maybe Gianna and Gael can fly under the radar during these initial stages of their "romance". Make them stronger to phase all the crap they'll come up against. Seems to me in helping Gia, Gael has really perked up. Maybe he'll head back to med school himself?

Their worst adversary is Roxy and though she can cause trouble, Gia, unlike her sister, has a spirit and willingness to let people have it who are coming after her. So I don't worry for our girl unless it would hurt her health. I do want to see how Gael would handle losing even more favor with Her Highness Eloisa. I'd dance a jig if he told everyone to take a hike and left the house.

Where's Benito...he needs to occupy Roxy. He lost out in the Italian sweepstakes.

Daisynjay

Grazie, Susanlynn! cara mia! Love your characterizations of the maniacal ménage à trois. They should keep us all entertained!

really Kindle...."face" gets changed to "phase"?? Guess that's my queue to get back to work. I can hear the other worker bees all sauntering in on this rainy, gloomy day.

Have a good one all. Check in at lunch.

Daisynjay

Actually, Daisy, back in the day there was a slang phrase in my neck of the woods that went "this/that/or the other (person or even) don't phase me none." Now, that could be spelled "faze" which does mean “to disturb, disconcert, or daunt; caused to show discomposure”*, but it could mean "phase" as well, as in "it doesn't make me 'go through changes'" which is another old school slang phrase.

So. Your tablet is just "hip." (Also old school slang word in use before "hipsters" were even a gleam in their parents' eyes.)

;D

Vito probably is too old (mentally) for Eloisa. Not to mention there is no fool like an old fool. I am shocked that Eloisa would even support this marriage.

Lila – thank you for the recap!

I can see the basic Fi/Pedro plot of this telenovela is like a yo-yo. Up. Down. Up. Down. Lather, rinse, repeat. For the next how many episodes? . . .

Viejo Verde Vito (VVV) wanting sweet-young-thang Fiorella = eeewwww gross! He just flat out reminds me of Arte Johnson/Ruth Buzzi sketch on Laugh-In…. I wish we could post pics but here is a non-link that might work:
https://travsd.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/laughin_ruth_gladys_t614.jpg?w=450
or

Eeewwwww. Just eeewwwww.

Gael showed up at corporate offices? To work? Did hell freeze over? Golf game rained out? Gah….

That Sonia is a real piece of work. I hope there is a nice anvil for her by the end of this.

UA - I'm not surprised that Eloisa would support the marriage between Fi and Vito. Fiorella is nobody to Eloisa, and Eloisa has no responsibility to look after her; it's really none of her business. As it is, Eloisa is going above and beyond the call of duty to cover the expenses for Gi's medicine & treatment for a servant's sister.

Grazie, Doris! Ruth Buzzi and Arte Johnson! What a hoot! It still cracks me up at how outraged and indignant she gets over his geriatric passes! Great stuff! And Sonia? She's a real piece of trash, that's what she is! Yuck! How long before she cries preggers!?

She wants pedro to marry" HER" choice for
Him. Therein lies the problem. The old girl needs to understand you can't controll the
Heart of others. And aitana, I can't take her
Serious, she seems a little loopy. Pedro can
And must do better (fiorella). When she gets
Out of that ridiculous promise mode thingy. I
Wonder if pedro just all out defyed his old grandmother and tell her he was going to be with fifi no matter how much she objected? I wonder if she would cut him out of the will and put Ozzy in place? then the Grands would start world war 3. Cause ozzy is a screwup. And freddy would put a hit out on fifi. Theres lots more high jinx to come folks.
I found a twitter feed for comments. Its a #tag thing.like "#LolmperdonableUS: and then theres the comments. I guess its whatever show you want to comment about
So you hashtag it, with US at the end of It and go for it. I wasn't looking for it I was looking for something else and it just popped up. so I checked it out it was pretty interesting the comments are kind of like the ones here but I like you all better so....Im happy here.

Loved the whole recap, but this sentence especially:

Freddie hangs around in the background sponging up everything as usual.

Yes, that's exactly what Freddie makes me think of--an old sponge that has begun to smell, with all kinds of yucky bacteria nestling in it. I absolute LOATHE this character. But admire the job the actress is doing.

Hated Eloisa saying "she didn't want any of her money to go to someone who didn't DESERVE it--like only already rich people deserve the get more money!??? What the hell!?

And like how the costume department is helping us find Vittorio even more ridiculous. The suit jacket he was wearing for the coffee was way too big on him. Especially in the shoulders. He looked like a shambling, ill-dressed old man. Clearly not fiancé material for a young girl. Yuck.

Frustrated with Fiorella's silly lies and denials, but that's standard operating procedure in a telenovela, so I need to chill.

Thanks Ms. Lila, for whipping out your usual earthy, snazzola style of recap...not once, but twice every week. You're a peach.

Hey, Nina. Maybe I'm a fogie but I leave tweeting to the birds! Thanks!

JudyB! Awww, JudyB, mille grazie, amica mia! Freddie is sooo annoyingly infuriating, isn't she! The actress IS killin' it! And Vitto. Vitto, Vitto, Vitto! Oh, how endearing he could have been as a grandfather figure who teamed up with Fiorella to help her win Eloisa's heart and defend her against the vultures. He knows Fifi loves Pedro, so what if he finally sees the light and DOES play that role. But alas, he's in "I'm a lucky old coot" mode right now!

I forgot to mention that bright spot though, Lila...Dante is recognizing the goodness of Fiorella and the innocence of her love for Pedro. That's HUGE. He's clearly not totally a bad guy. So of the hangers-on, we've got Gael on the side of the angels, and Dante somewhat. Could turn the tide...who knows?

I think Eloisa's idea of who deserves her money is someone who works for it and doesn't just spend it. That's why she favors Pedro in the first place. She also knows that Assvaldo is a screw-up, something that couldn't change overnight if it wanted to.

If she were a little younger I think she would see Vittorio as Fiorella's way out of poverty. She might even think a little bit like Federica and say to herself "Well, how much longer can he last? He'll be dead in five years or so and Fiorella can marry whomever she wants when he's gone."

If Federica doesn't have her offed first.

I chuckled when Fi told Eloisa that Vitto is even to old for her, and stifled a snort when Vitto told Fi they would be together the rest of THEIR lives. He obviously and obliviously doesn't recognize that the rest of HIS life will be a very small part of Fi's life.

Love it Lila.

"mealy-mouthed denials of their love"

"face smoosh"

This is stupid. Vitto is almost old enough to be Fio's great grand dad. Gosh, what a little blue randy pill has done to broken down old men.

Studly as Vitto is convinced he is, no less delusional, both Sonia and Aitana assume Pedro is a given.

I question Pedro's acumen outside the family business since he so easily folds under the financial wings of a domineering matriarch. Guess he doesn't believe he has other options.

Maybe. And the stakes are high.

Yes, JudyB, I almost don't know what to make of Dante's comment. I SO did not expect it! Maybe the Dark Horse theory still lives? Let's see. I have been informally keeping track of Fifi and Gigi's allies in El Rancho:

Fidel (The Faithful Fairy Godfather)

Gael (Whos Gaga over Gigi)

Simoneta (she's funny, kind of loose of lips and flip-floppy on Vitto, though)

Quina (as long as they don't say anything about precious Roxi)

I don't trust Benito!

We'll watch Dante. He may see the purity of Fiorella's love for Pedro but Freddie has him whipped!

Who did I miss?

Hey, Urban! I wonder what Diana was looking for. I need to go back in and note that she wrote something down. What do you think she's after?

Tofie! Carita mia! Mille grazie:

Gosh, what a little blue randy pill has done to broken down old men.

And now, they claim to have a pill for women. Lord help us! Can you see Granny Eloisa in booty shorts?

"Granny Eloisa in booty shorts" what a visual along with Vitto in skinny jeans and shirtless

Diana is looking for money. Maybe she also expects to have to boink Vito to death for it.

I've said on an earlier date that the guy who walked out on her could be someone her own age or younger and she might think guys younger than Vittorio might all be like that. We have to expect that the baby's father will ultimately turn up.

That could be Sergio and the baby would be Pedro's half-brother. Aaaaaack!

OK, I don't remember what she was looking for in that scene, but if I had to guess I would think it's something about Fiorella.

Lila- I believe Diana was looking for Benito's contact info because she wants to team up with him to separate Fi and Vitto.

Okay guys, sorry for the booty shorts comment. Not going to delete it though. I'm talking about a character and I'm not ageist being on the riper side of a certain age myself!

:D

Interesting, Urban! Never thought of the father of Diana's "angel baby" showing up! Sergio as Diana baby daddy? Inter-resting! Have we ever seen Segio and Diana on the same screen?

Vivi! Okay. That makes sense because the waiter told her Benito was in love with Fifi! Grazie!

Hey, Lila! Loved your take on things, as always. You really do get into this stuff, don't you?

Okay, the graph of my esteem for Sonia has taken a precipitous plunge toward the X-axis. So what does this girl do? Divide her time equally between studying motel room ceilings, wandering around corporate headquarters without anything to do, and stabbing her family by marriage in the back?

I think that Vitto's presence is supposed to be repulsive in the extreme, and the confluence of forces between the actor's ability, the script, and the wardrobe department are really producing that effect in me.

Equally disgusting is Dante macking all over Freddie, but who better to have something disgusting happen to them than Freddie.

I am somewhat surprised that Eloisa is not presented as one who can distinguish between an amoral parasite like Sonia and a hard working honest young woman like Fi.

Can't wait for Aitana's many deficits begin to come to light.

Thanks again, Lila. Just great.

David

Ciao, Fratello David! Man, I love this:

Okay, the graph of my esteem for Sonia has taken a precipitous plunge toward the X-axis.

That is exquisite, as is the whole paragraph! David, even though I agree the Angeles are viscious by nature, Sonia's behavior makes me remember in an earlier episode how Ozzie said that she asked for the vultures disdain! Yah. She is waaaay worse than useless! ITA that Eloisa can't tell the difference between a Sonia and a Fiorella! Sonia's and Aitana's deficits are going to start reeking pretty soon, David, don't worry! It should be fun!

Mille grazie!

As for Aitana's faults, let's start with her attempt at impersonating Sarah Jessica Parker. She is no Carrie Bradshaw.

Can a priest refuse to marry a couple on the basis of anything he sees wrong with the situation? That's what should happen here with Vittorio and Fiorella.

That would be nice though it sounds like it's Eloisa's Priest so unless he dares to break ranks with The Great and Mighty Eloisa, not likely.

;/

Hey! You know what!? Everybody is always interrupting Pedro with Fiorella, I hope somebody crashes this wedding if it gets that far. That would likely be Benito in cahoots or not with Diana. I don't think he needs Diana for the guts to do so!

Gracias, Lila, for another wonderful recap!

"We get the first installment of our potential lovers back-peddling and offering mealy-mouthed denials of their love." Annnnnnd, they lost me. I think I spend most of the episode wanting to ask just about every single character "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

But this..."At first it will take a month and then, after Gael says he and Gianna are novios and can only marry on the condition that she complete her studies, the Registrar dude can expedite the process and she can start in 15 days if they invite him to the wedding!"...made up for it! Awwwww yeah! I've never seen a guy lie about being engaged so he can expedite someone's transfer credits, but I think I like it :D

"Dante doesn’t think Fiorella is a gold digger." I'm starting to get confused about what side Dante is playing. I think Dante might be getting confused as well. Thanks for confirming I really did hear that before I VPC-ed the rest of that scene for grossness!

Lila, I so enjoyed your outstanding recap. You infuse such heart and emotion, it makes the events that occurred much clearer and much more vivid. Gracias.

"mealy-mouthed denials of their love", "Granny shoots Pedro a “watch your step, boy” gaze of her own" and "...convinces him he is God’s gift to Fiorella" were a few of my favorites.

Why do I like this so much? "Do you love me, I have to know.” They are gently cradling one another’s faces in their hands. “I love you more than my life, I promise!” and "...hugging Gianna always evokes a swoon in Gael. Ahhhh!" are but two examples.

As you have often stated and I agree - I watch these to see love. Forbidden, hard fought and always desired love. Although things are awry, seeing these sparks give me hope that the promise of love will be fulfilled.

Egomaniac Vitto makes me smile - I so enjoy the actor and his single minded pursuit of the fair Fifi will surely result in failing miserably. Only someone without sight or hearing could fail to see she wants nothing to do with him, let alone marry him.

Eloisa disappoints me. She is shrewd but class conscious. Doris, I agree that she has done much for Fiorella and Gi, as you noted, she is not responsible for them. However, kindness to the help might be expected from someone of her stature. Accepting Fiorella for Pedro will not happen easily.

Lila, thank you!

Diana

Awww, Lila. Thanks. I have a "hip" Kindle. That would explain a lot of things!!

Interesting on Diane's baby-daddy guessing game...I vote Anibal.

Wondered if anyone else picked up a weird action of Sonia's last night. When Os walked in and she was sitting on the bed, she looked to rub her stomach and did she mention she wasn't feeling great? Lord, I'm hoping I picked that up wrong because are we getting a ANOTHER who's the baby-daddy plot line. I could so see her blackmailing Pedro with the news, and all the while the baby is singing O Sole Mia in the womb. Really really hoping I was wrong...really really.

I can't believe the writers would actually put Fi through a wedding ceremony unless they decide to have Vitto kick the bucket right after which would make her a wealthy widow. The mere thought she would have to fend off that man...ok. Eating lunch, can't go there. So I vote for a wedding interruptus...Pedro riding in on horseback or Gianna fainting away at the thought of her sister and that old coot....something really dramatic.

Daisynjay

Diiiiivaaaa! Yaaaay! Ciao bella! Grazie, mille grazie!

I just LOVE Gigi and Gael! How many times can I say I enjoy their hugs! They haven't even kissed yet and they enchant me!

Diva, Dante has you, me and other folk guessing. As one of my Patio Peeps suggested (Sorry for not always remember who proposes what. Guess I should keep a cheat sheet!), maybe Dante is an undercover good guy! Maybe he IS eternally grateful for Maximo having saved him from prison and is close to Freddie as in "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."

Lila, I'm trying so hard to ignore the ickier parts of the show right now...so Gigi and Gael it is!

I could see Dante being loyal to Maximo but having a weird mutual attraction thing with Fed that gets in the way of him doing the right thing.

Daisynjay, I did see the Sonia thing. Dare I hope the candidate pool is really only 2--Fabio and Osvaldo?

OK...thinking about Gael and Gigi again to wash the mental images out of my brain! Hopefully we'll get some late-night study sessions :D

When Os walked in and she was sitting on the bed, she looked to rub her stomach and did she mention she wasn't feeling great? Yes! Daisy, Sonia DID do and say that! Thank you! Take note, y'all!

Glad I'm not drinking any coffee: I could so see her blackmailing Pedro with the news, and all the while the baby is singing O Sole Mia in the womb.

You are on fire, Daisy! I LOVE this, too! This would be GREAT!

I can't believe the writers would actually put Fi through a wedding ceremony unless they decide to have Vitto kick the bucket right after which would make her a wealthy widow.*

Just let him kick the bucket at the ceremony cause otherwise they will charge poor Fifi with murder!

*(P.S. Vitto will be forgiven his 40-year old picture sinlet and be welcomed by St. Peter, so it's all good!)

Wedding interruptus.... I could go for that one with any of the three proposed scenarios. Gia could even fake the fainting since she is opposed to the idea of her sister marrying this old coot. I don't think we'll have to wait too long for this, esp with the scissors being applied.

Yah, Urban. The sunny side of editing!

Oh, like the Gianna faint fake out UA. Much better than her actually getting sick over that jerk. That way out dear girl won't be laid up in bed. I like her out and about with Gael wayyyy too much. Those two are like my favorite thing right now.

I feel strangely conflicted. Glad I wasn't seeing things and actually got some dialog right (Yeah!!) , but crap, we did see Sonia do the "could a bun be in her oven" move. at least SHE didn't faint...or maybe that's to come.

Daisynjay

Daisynajay- Fiorella was taking care of all the fainting. Thank goodness we know SHE doesn't have a bun in the oven.

There was a scene that struck me funny where Eloisa goes to the office to take what turns out to be a call from Vitto, and orders Fi and Aitana to get to know each other.

Aitana: What part of Italy are you from?

Fi: The South.

Aitana: I am Spanish. Don't you think it's a coincidence that we're both Europeans?

Fi: Don't you think it's a coincidence that we're both women?

Simona: Don't you think it's a coincidence that you're both in the house of Pedro?

(At least that's what I thought was going on)

David

Vivi, I'll add your great line to my previous comment.

"Thank goodness we know SHE doesn't have a bun in the oven". ;)

Diana

David- That was a funny conversation, and you got it exactly right. I felt like saying "Meow!" at the end of that little exchange.

Vivi, thanks for verifying my translation. I still don't feel sufficiently confident to assert that "this is without a doubt what happened."

And "Meow" is exactly the type of thought that was going through my mind.

David

Yah, David. That was great! Good one, Fifi and I thought Simoneta's exit line was funny, too, something about "oh, I didn't say anything!" She cracks me up!

Re the bun: thank goodness we don't have a secret marriage and consummation!

Oh no! Diana! I missed you! Hang on, honey, got a 3D person to deal with!

Diana! Amica preciosa! Ciao e grazie! Diana, you speak my heart:

I watch these to see love. Forbidden, hard fought and always desired love.

Yes! That's why, even though I know these are formulaic, I still growl when love gets thwarted or denied!

If they're going to tease us with Fiorella and Pedro, then let us have some sweet, honest love between Gigi and Gael.

The base mating of Sonia and whoever has a good bloodflow is NO substitute for Love!

Mille grazie, Diana!

Pedro and Fio who?

Gigi + Gael 4Evah, I get little goose pimples they are so cute

Lila great recap! My face was cringing the entire time I was watching it that I couldn't read the english subtitles so this recap is really helpful.

Nina, let's hope she buries him before the honeymoon, so that she doesn't have to do the "guacamole" with him and she would inherit his wealth, you know for Gianna's medical expenses (*cough, cough*)

Daisynjay, you basically said everything I want going to rant about. Thank you. When you said, "Italian sweepstakes" I just thought of Oprah saying "you get an Italian, you get an Italian, and you get an Italian. Everyone get's an ItAAAAAAAAAlian. Except Benito".

I thought Eloisa was going to be this nice, old woman, but she is snobby as hell. I now understand why everyone in the family isn't too keen with her. Maybe the problem isn't them, it's her.

Vivi in DC, I am with you there about Pedro. Pedro keeps saying he will fight for their love, but when given the opportunity to confess his feelings for Fi, he denies it.

Beside being a plot device to frustrate us and prolong it as much as possible, what is the reasoning for why Fi would lie to Vito about how she really felt...about him being old and being in love with Pedro. Did it ever occur to her that he might have understood if she was in love with someone else.

OMG Caroline. THat Oprah image will stay with me through this whole TN! Love it!

And part of why Fi isn't talking to Vitto is what makes me furious at the writers. She's going to marry the man...for cripes sake talk to him!

Daisynjay

Caroline! Mille grazie e benvenuto! Wanted to make sure to greet and thank you! Fi lying to Vitto, yah, frustrating. Vitto been around the block, hell, the planet a few times: he knows what time it is, that is, he knows Fiorella wants the young, virile, handsome Pedro.

Okay, well. My time is up! See y'all on Diva's recap!
