¿Qué nos cuenta, Caray, Caray!?

Hola Carayites!

Last week on Caray, Caray!...

On Telemundo, Tierra de Reyes came to a close and Bajo el Mismo Cielo is now underway.

In the Univision lineup, La Sombra del Pasado is in Ultimas Semanas.  Check out Urban Anthropologist's Karmageddon post for some anvil-icious fun.  As far as we know, we're heading for an August fin, with Muchacha Italiana scheduled to follow.

Coverage continues for Amores con Trampa and Lo Imperdonable, and Yo No Creo En Los Hombres is entering its fourth week.

Meanwhile, in the daytime spot on Univision, we have bi-weekly posts for La Vecina.

Got proximas news?  A shameless plug for a current show?  Community news?  Recommendations for shows, movies, music, or books that may appeal to your fellow telenovela fans?  Let's hear it!  (Remember to keep it spoiler-free and gossip-free.)

I read on Telenovela World that the rerun of Un refugio para el amor is ending soon. I have no idea what will replace it though.

According to ads on Telemundo, El Señor del Cielos is in its "etapa culminante." But I'm not sure what that means. I hope it means the second season of Señora Acero is next! The first season was wild, but I couldn't stop watching.

Diva--Avenida Brasil, in its second run on Telemundo, is over halfway done (at 8 pm). What more can little pixie Rita/Nina do keep her venganza going when it's all falling apart on her and still keep the love of Jorgito?

Sara--I was saving and watching Un Refugio Para el Amor when I could. I'm way behind. It's too late for anyone to start watching, it's about 2/3 done. It's hard to compare it to any other telenovela--being a typical rich boy-poor girl love story, but it still amazes me how few times we had to glue on our beanies. Smartly written, well acted, sad story, but uplifting and riveting nevertheless. The producer was Ignacio Sada Madero, who also produced PSMA--so go figure.

For anyone out there interested in what Reina de Corazones was all about last year on Telemundo and didn't watch it, it's now on YouTube, sponsored by--wait for it--surprise: Telemundo. Juan Soler plays the most delicious, cultured, debonair, evil, cruel, handsome, rat-bastard you ever met. The young protas are Eugenio Siller and Paola Nunez. The whole cast had a ball on this take-off of every Mafia vs. CIA film noir. Great music, too. We tallied up the body count and posted it as it went along. Who will ever forget the Injecto-Death 3000 bracelet, eh? The recaps appear in the weekly Telemundo forum starting the Week of July 7, 2014. It got chopped (what else is new) towards the end, but the recappers soldiered on, finding complete episodes on-line and filling in what Tele cut out. At one point, Reina got her own front page as the recaps got longer and elicited so many comments.

YAY FOR REINA--I'm going to watch it all over again.

Wow. I just read here:

http://novelalounge.com/nn/2015/08/03/lo-imperdonable-ya-va-a-finalizar-pero-para-cuando-los-cambios/

That Lo Imperdonable is going to end in OCTOBER!

El Refugio Para el Amor is in YouTube. It seems as if all the episodes are there

Anita, I'm waaaaay behind on Avenida Brasil. I hope I get to finish it before they pull all the episodes off of OnDemand. And that's really cool about Reina. I'm impressed with Telemundo for doing that. Might as well, since it aired already, right?

Sara, I'm sure the news about LI will thrill some people and sadden others, but it's good info all the same!

Victoria, are the postings authorized? We try not to bring up anything that's not, to keep it under the radar. Apparently we're spied on as a good source of info when the networks are looking to make a sweep.

Just found out the lovely Osvaldo Benavides is now a protagonist! Im so exited, can't wait to see him in ''A Que No Me Dejas'' even though I have no clue what it's about.

Read that its a remake of Amor en Silencio but the first trailers seem nothing like that..Any idea about the storyline?

Tommorrow Jose Alberto Castro (Teresa, LQNPA, La Malquerida) will announce the leads of Pasión y Poder. From what I'm reading he wants Susana González in the novela, in either lead or villan and she wants to play the villain but she'll play the lead if she is chosen. The rumor mill, however, is saying Marlene Favela will be the villain and Susana the lead. I'm not fond of Favela but she has occasionally surprisen me and I prefer to have the best actress for the lead so I'm fine with that casting. Mayrín Villanueva was the other choice for lead and I much prefer Gonzáles over her. So it would be like this: Salinas and González for leads and Colunga and Favela for villains.

OMG, IMHO, I just don't want to see FC in the role of a villain. He tried comedy which flopped big time even with his changes and/or restrictions to the dialog or plot.

I wish he would stay true to his career type-casting--romantic, prince/saving the day. He's getting up there in age also.

MV, what a terrible idea.

Let's hope JAC's production is as superb as 'Teresa'.

He's played a villain before in Mas Allá del Puente and I thought he was okay, he overacted a little but he was young. I'm sure he'll do well and everybody will he happy in this. I think it will be easier for him than comedy because I think his problem with comedy was that he couldn't let go with the flow of the scene, he was too tense and serious for comedy but that will help him in a villanous role.

I'm not an actress but I get the impression that villains are easier to play because you are supposed to hate them, that's pretty easy to do if they are written to do bad things. Actors impress me if I end up liking them because they are so good at being bad that it's enjoyable to watch them. A bad actor playing a villain doesn't bother me much, the end result is still the desired effect of the writers: my dislike or hate. Some actors playing leads however have to make miracles sometimes to make a dumbed down, badly written "hero" or "heroine" be likeable, that's very hard to do.

Rudo y Cursi is the Cine Mexicano film they are showing on Sunday.

Jarocha: What will Pasion y Poder be replacing?

Sarah: Lo Imperdonable.

Anita - thanks for the REINA info. Oh if only I had time to watch it again! That was the most fun telenovela I've seen in ages, maybe since Besame Tonto?

Jarocha,
Great analysis of FC.
I remember another Caray fan -- Stevey -- saying he wanted the villain(s) to be extra, extra bad and therefore deserving of the biggest, baddest anvil ever made.
.

Victoria, interesting, one of the things I found odd was when they decided that Verónica should become a psycho. I thought she started as annoying and schrilling but redeemable since she did love her daughter but then I guess the writers decided that she should go completely over to the dark side so that she wouldn't be a part of the happy family, then Elías was gone and in the end Valentina was a happy and well adjusted girl in a completely different family than the one that took good care of her since her birth. Weird.

I'd be thrilled to see Colunga and Favela as villains! My absolute dream is to see actors/actresses typecasted as heroes doing villanous roles. If Colunga gets It I'm definitely going to watch.

Now waiting for Victoria Ruffo to turn to the bad side..

Tom Boy, you might enjoy "Mujeres Asesinas," though not all the murdering women were necessarily evil, some of them did finally get to walk on the bad side, and ended up getting "antagonista" roles out of it later.

Thank you for the recommendation 5ft Latina! I've heard of MA but is there a similar program for men? Hombres Asesinos maybe?

Lo Imperdonable ending soon appears to be true. Masquetelenovelas has "pasion y poder" listed as premiering October 4th.

Rain,
Wow and Colunga is going to be the BAD guy.
