Lo Imperdonable #74 Fri 8/28/15 A Family Reunion

No Mauricio for you tonight.

He’s taking a well-deserved day off and I appreciate the opportunity he has given me to try my hand at recapping after a rather long layoff,  so for tonight I’ll be your guide through this morass. Settle in, have a complimentary gin and tonic, and let’s spend an hour together as we enjoy watching other people suffer. I promise, no baby seals will be harmed.

What better way to begin than with Nanciyaga counseling and consoling Julio? Something for everyone. He’s fretting and regretting his strong feelings for Ana Perla. Nanci understands, she’s experiencing a similar situation with her patrón, Martín. He wants to forget her, but Nanci assures Julio that hope is like a weed growing by the river, it never dies, it thrives. Well whatever, Julio is pretty gloomy (agüítado) about the whole thing (how the heck does this bumpkin know a word like that?). Nevertheless, Nanciyaga ain’t giving up on her patrón. She’s gonna defy the stars (and presumably those pesky snails as well). “Patron belongs to me… only me.”

"Bippity Boppity Boo"

Ummm, OK, Nanci, as long as you have that machete, I’m not going to argue.

At the Hospital Center Ana Perla interrupts Martín and Botel and tells them that Magdelena has left the building. She's off to find Verónica. Botel is not pleased, what with Aaron on the loose. He and Martín go to look for her after Ana Perla assures them that she’ll be OK since Grampa is there to protect her. He appears as the boys leave and informs her that Eleazar showed up back home and being the good boy that he is, he’ll be joining them in the city to help out. Ana Perla seems less than thrilled but agrees to be polite.

Meanwhile, lurking outside the corporation, Frick and Frack… er… uh… Aarón and Clemente plot. As they make plans as how to proceed with Verónica, Malena steps out of a cab and they promptly
abduct her at gunpoint.

"You Didn't Thank The Recapper"

Inside Prado Castelo offices, Verónica is in a quandary about how to proceed with her dad. “Why did you have to show up just when she confessed that she’s my mom?” she whines.

On a beach in Cancún, Frenchy and Claudia frolic.

On a bed in Cancún, el Niño Emiliano and Virginia are basking in the afterglow of a more vigorous frolic.

("I Wonder If The Texans Game Has Started")

Instead of him disagreeing with Salma, she prefers that they focus on their upcoming nuptials.

Botel and Martín find Verónica inside Prado Castelo headquarters. She tells them of her encounter with Her Dad. Botel asks her if his name is Aarón. Yep, that’s him and he’s dangerous. Magdelena isn’t there and Martín confirms that she hasn't been there. Uh oh. Danger Will Robinson. Veronica suggests that they check the security cameras. Good thinking girly, and here I was believing that you’re a complete airhead.

As Matilde gives a little pep talk to a discouraged Ana Perla, Pablo is wheeled by on his way to surgery. He pleads with her to forgive him, he was only defending himself. Is anyone surprised that she weeps?

In a hidden location, Aarón taunts a trussed up and gagged Magdalena threatening to kill her lover and her daughter.

Back at the hotel, Botel and Martín have confirmed that Magdelena was taken away by two men. Botel wants to check in with the PI, Aldo, but first Verónica wants to call Aarón to set up a meeting in order to trap him. Martín seems skeptical but she dimples him to emphasize her seriousness.

More Pierre and Claudia on the beach. She’s happy and not as insistent on marriage which makes him happy… party on kids.

In the hotel garden, Virginia confers with Salma. Salma is disappointed that Ginny was not able to change Jorge’s or Emiliano’s minds about the distribution of the estate. Instead she is charged with changing Salma’s mind. If I were Salma I wouldn’t worry too much. Ginny seems to be resourceful in handling such matters.

Matilde has bought a few things for Ana Perla. Crescencio grouses. Matilde charms him. Next!

Ginny tells Salma that right now she is more concerned about snaring Emiliano into marriage. Salma frets that she doesn’t want Verónica to get anything. Ginny tells her not to worry, “We’ll think of something.” There’s plenty of time to make certain that the fortune ends up with the appropriate people, namely her and Emiliano.

As Martín and Botel are trying to convince Verónica that calling Aarón and setting up a meeting will be too dangerous, Jorge walks up. Verónica embraces and kisses him telling him that so much has happened. and Martín suggests that Jorge and Verónica talk privately. Martín instructs  Botel to go ahead and call Aldo.

Aarón taunts Magdelena a bit more and then removes the gag from her mouth. She pleads with him and even offers to go away with him since after being with him this last time she realizes that she loves him and that they can be happy together. Well, nice try but he’s not buying it and ends up slapping her around.

Verónica informs her dad that Malena is actually her mom and that while she’s not keen on a relationship with her, she can’t abandon her now that she is in grave danger. She tells him of the abduction and he remembers that some guy named Clemente saying he was her dad’s brother came around asking questions about her but that he didn’t give him any information.

Aarón continues roughing up Magdalena while he tells her of his plan to extort money from his daughter’s current wealthy family. Meanwhile he’s going to make her shed tears of blood. Yikes!

Verónica and Jorge get closer. He whines about her not staying in touch and she tells him of her attempts to correspond with him. From the looks on their faces it appears that both may be smelling a beautiful but treacherous rat.

Grampa takes a pill and wants justice for Manuel.

"Hey! This Isn't Apple Juice!"

Ana Perla tells him that Pablo is already being punished since he probably will never paint again.

Not satisfied with banging Magdalena around, Aarón tells her how he has poisoned Verónica’s mind against her by telling her what a lousy mother she was. He also promises to kill Malena once he gets his money.

Verónica and Jorge recommit to each other and reconfirm their close relationship to one another in sooo many words… Next!

Botel has talked to Aldo, the police have been alerted and the trap is ready to be set. Jorge doesn’t approve of Verónica taking this risk, but it’s settled. Verónica is the bait.

At the hospital Dr Dan emerges to announce that the surgery on Pablo is done. Mariana wants to know if he’ll be able to paint again. Dan explains that we can’t know until he heals and has physiotherapy. Mariana cries. Monserrat comforts her by pointing out that he can always find other work and the paintings he’s done  will probably be worth much more if indeed he’s not able to paint again since they’ll be his last.. Ya gotta love her optimism.

Aldo has shown up and explains the plan to trap Aarón., the police are all set to go. Verónica will arrange a meeting with him in a café that Aldo has chosen and start up a conversation about Magdalena. If he offers to take her somewhere she is to go along and Martín and the others will follow at a safe distance. Jorge doesn’t much like the plan and neither do I but you guys do what you gotta do and let’s move this show along.

At the hospital, Crescencio bumps into Mariana and yells at her about how he’s going to make Pablo pay. She bravely gets in his face and tells him that Manuel was the attacker and he will be the one to pay… that is… “if he survives.” She stalks off and he next encounters Ana Perla who tells him that she has discovered that Manuel fired the first shot. “Doesn’t matter,” he tells her and adds that she’d best forget it because she’ll be testifying otherwise. She balks. We’ll see.

Jorge still doesn’t like the plan but Verónica insists and calls to set up the appointment with her dad, as Martín gropes her shoulder. Aaron grins malevolently into the phone as he gestures and leers at a cowering Magdalena. Sorry, but it’s difficult for me to take this guy seriously. He then tells Magdalena that Verónica has fallen into his trap. She complains and threatens but he warns her that Clemente will be watching and will put a bullet in her head if she does something stupid. Double yikes!

In Cancún Salma strolls with Nicolas and they discuss displaying Emiliano’s PreHispanic jewelry line in the Cancún hotels. He seems more interested in flirting with her.

Emiliano and Virginia stroll and are interrupted by Nicolas. Just as well because her cell phone rings. It’s Mariana. She seems a bit delusional and talks of marrying Pablo and living in Paris. Ginny thinks that she should dump Pablo after the way he’s treated her.

Ana Perla asks Dr. Dan about Pablo, but Grampa Goat, who seems to be popping up everywhere all over the hospital, joins them so they change the subject and talk about her brother instead. Crescencio warns her that he is closely watching her.

Aldo busies himself by setting the scene for the covert operation at a café. Gotta give him credit, he seems pretty efficient.

Mariana is at Pablo’s bedside. He mentions going to the police but she tries to discourage that to protect Daniel since he could get into trouble for treating the gunshot wounds. Huh? They are joined by Pablo’s mom.

Aldo explains the setup to Martín and Botel as they wait in an SUV. Aarón arrives at the café and is shown to a table by one of Aldo’s operatives. He is soon joined by Verónica who looks uncomfortable. He notices and observes, “You look very nervous.” She points out that he is a stranger to her and reminds him of what a crappy early childhood she had. She tells him that she realizes that most of their problems were caused by her slut of a mother and her lover. He nods in agreement. She adds, “The only thing I feel for her is contempt.

On the hotel patio in Cancún Emiliano and Nicolas discuss the jewelry business. They are joined by Virginia and then Salma… borrring… Next!

At Pablo’s bedside the feeble-minded Mariana explains to Pablo and his mom why he shouldn’t go to the police… to protect Dan. Amazingly, they both agree. Brilliant.

Dang. We’re back with Salma, Ginny, Nicolas, and Emiliano. They gossip about Pablo choosing Ana Perla over Mariana. Somehow Virginia believes that it’s Verónica’s fault. Emiliano thinks it’s more important that they resolve their differences with Jorge as he and Nicolas leave. Salma and Ginny agree that Verónica pretty much spoils everything. “Verónica, Verónica Verónica,” Virginia sighs.

AS Martín and Botel watch, Verónica gains Aarón’s confidence by trashing her mother. She’d like to see her to tell her how much she hates her. Well heck, Aarón can take her to her this very minute. “Your Papi will fulfill your desire, Hija.” He whisks her away to the hotel where he has Magdalena stashed. They enter as he asks, “Do you think I’d harm you?” “No, of course not, "she lies.”

Back at the hospital Pablo admits to his mom that he was shot because Mariana showed up to claim him which prompted Manuel to shoot him. “I’m here right now because of Mariana and my own clumsiness.

And speaking of clumsy, we get a strange scene with Ramón trying to flirt with three girls. One of them puts him down calling him “esperpento” (a grotesque sight). He thought she said “es perfecto”.

At the bar Joaquín updates the folks on Manuel’s condition. He didn’t die. Ireri wishes that at least he’d stay far away.

At the hospital, Ana Perla is visiting an unrepentant Manuel who vows to kill Pablo unless she stays away from him.

Well look at you, Crazy Guy. Appears as though Martín has become a superhero action figure. He’s apparently followed Aarón and Verónica on a motorcycle all decked out in cool sporty cycling gear.

("Damn! I Look Sooo Cool!")

After removing his helmet and jauntily tossing his hair, he’s going in.

And to wind things up, Aaron announces, “I’ve brought you a little surprise, Maggie,” as he shoves Verónica in to the room. “I see you know each other.

"Seriously, We Don't Want To Try The Tofu"

Here's the recap. I'll be back a bit later with some pictures for you.

Carlos

Yes! a Carlos recap! wooohoo

Thanks Carlos for an early weekend recap and right---who would argue with a machete?
You're not and I'm not either.

Goddess Veronica a complete airhead? HOW DARE YOU! You really do deserve the little viper V-snake for that one.

Martin sure got that fancy cycle gear muy pronto. A cycle shop right down the street?

The big rescue esta Lunes---can't wait.
Must see tv.
the gringo

Thank you so much Carlos for a wonderful recap. I loved the title.

One little thing, when you get a chance could you please change the tag. You accidentally put "indomable" instead of "imperdonable". Thanks.

Aldo is very efficient. That was a very well planned operation to catch Aaron. Too bad he didn't plan the previous Catch Aaron Operation at the hotel.

I wish Vero and Jorge would have talked a little more about the faxes and tried to get to the bottom of what could have happened to them.

Marty looked funny in cycle gear.

Mother & Daughter are reunited and in danger. Can't wait until Monday to see what happens next.

Thank you, Carlos, for a great recap.

Miss Nanciyaga is bound and determined to take "Patron" (although she hasn't arrived at "by any means necessary" stage yet) and Veronica is likewise determined to keep him. Could there be a machete vs saber duel in our future? That would be a sight to see!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Alicia Machado has a "number of total minutes my body MUST be exposed" clause in her contract?

Well, I must apologize. My screen shots just aren't working out today and it's such a pity since I thought that they'd be pretty good. Sorry, I hope that you can enjoy the recap without them.

Carlos

Muchas gracias, Carlos! A recap from you is a rare treat, indeed.

Did I miss something or did they just drop the DNA test to see if Veronica and Mags are really mother and daughter? They are both going through a whole lot of angst for something that they have no proof of.

And speaking of angst and the buckets of tears that have accompanied it, I think they must have a tanker truck of fake tear juice parked at the set. It's always excessive in TNs, or at least the ones I've seen, but it's gotten ridiculous and really annoying in this one. A little less weeping and a little more moving the plot along, please.

Caroyaga sees lovebirds circling Primita Blanquita and Mail Order Husband Dude. Girl with Beauty Mole skates free and Viewerville gets a bonus boda. The snails don't lie.

Princess JuJu,

I hope you enjoyed it even without the captioned photos.

gringo,

"Goddess Veronica a complete airhead? HOW DARE YOU!"

I understand and appreciate your ire, but you didn't need to shout. I did give her credit after all.

Mauricio,

Thanks. I hope you enjoyed the respite, you certainly deserved it. Aldo has certainly gone up in my estimation.

"Marty looked funny in cycle gear."

Yes, and he cracked me up with those serious poses he struck before he rushed in.

Anon,

"Could there be a machete vs saber duel in our future?"

I've been anticipating that ever since we first saw Nanci with her machete.

"...Alicia Machado has a "number of total minutes my body MUST be exposed" clause in her contract..."

I'm not complaining.

Carlos

Carolina,

Thanks. No one has said anything else about DNA testing.

"Caroyaga sees lovebirds circling Primita Blanquita and Mail Order Husband Dude."

The snails probably could have seen that even with their little eyes closed.

Carlos

Caroyaga says Man Who Makes Terrible Novelas is terribly obvious. ;)

Thanks Carlos for the recap.

Martin looked so good in that jacket when he was in the car and also on the bike!!! I am loving Martin and Vero so much.

I didn't expect the encounter with Aaron to happen so early. I thought it would towards the ending of the TN.

Duchess,

Thanks.

Martin looked so good in that jacket when he was in the car and also on the bike!

Well he didn't he? The bike and the biker outfit was an especially good choice for following someone unnoticed. I'm glad that you are enjoying our main couple.

Carlos

I just watched all of the episodes (ok, minus a few in the 50s because I got sick of seeing Vero and Martin fight) over the past week, and I am now all caught up. I'm still bothered by the fake backgrounds and even faker looking blood - did they not have much of a budget o qué? For some reason I thought they filmed these TNs in one go, and then put them on the air but apparently I was wrong. Maybe they couldn't keep going back to San Luis Potosi to film the outdoor scenes there?

Aaron and Nanciyaga are so annoying. please make them get off my screen.

- J

Carlos, what a treat to have your point of view on our crazy gang of characters!

"Ummm, OK, Nanci, as long as you have that machete, I’m not going to argue." So true. Too bad she's determined to hook up with Marty.

I'm a bad person. As Claudia and Pierre frolicked in the waves, I was praying desperately for some shark fins to appear. In addition to over exposure of her bounteous flesh, I always think Claudia has some permanent tucks in the corners of her mouth, creating a smirk that won't quit.

I really like Ana Brenda, so I feel sorry for her being stuck in such a bad situation. No, I don't mean captivity with Malena while Aaron hovers over them promising evil things. I mean being in this ridiculous plot with these mostly annoying characters. There are a few entertaining moments, such as Marty in heroic motorcycle getup, but I could gladly choke most of the secondary characters.

Thank you Carlos!

My favorite part of your recap: "Settle in, have a complimentary gin and tonic, and let’s spend an hour together as we enjoy watching other people suffer." When I read the "gin and tonic", I knew Dr. Carlos was our substitute!

And your comment on Ana Perla after Pablo goes to surgery, "Is anyone surprised that she weeps?", had me laughing out loud.

I wish that Maggie was as spunky as her hija. I know I should feel sorry for her but her constant cowering annoys me. Can't wait to see what happens on Monday. As someone else noted, I hope these police do a better job trapping Frick and Frac than last time.

You all probably know this but Alicia Machado was Miss Universe 1996.

J,

Thanks.

"Aaron and Nanciyaga are so annoying. please make them get off my screen."

I'll meet you halfway. Aarón won't be missed by me, but how about we keep Nanciyaga and her family of snails? She's pretty much the only truth teller that we have.

La Paloma,

Thanks.

"'When I read the "gin and tonic', I knew Dr. Carlos was our substitute!"

And here I thought it'd be:

"...as we enjoy watching other people suffer."

that would be the tipoff.

"...Alicia Machado was Miss Universe 1996."

I didn't know that, but she definitely has the credentials.

Carlos

O Carlos, You did a rather comical and funny
Recap. I LOVED it. I laughed 1/2 way through
It.
"Nanciyaga tells julio that hope is like a weed
Growing by the river it never dies", really? I
Don't like weeds, I kill them with my trusty
Lawn mower, or remove them with my garden hoe and rake. Alas weed be gone, ok
I'm gettin carried away, just don't like weeds.
Martin don't like weeds either. That comparison "her hope is like a weed planted
By the water". LOL:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D. That is so funny to me.
And then grumpy goat granpa tells AP that
Cowboy hat guy is coming there to help,
Help with what? He's walkin around there with his green stick anoying and threatening
People that don't agree with him.
And manuel is laying in bed still unchanged. Ana perla could have shut him up right then and there. But she cry to much for me, grow a backbone girl, and stop whinning so much.
That was a bit of a rant. I can't stand manuel.
Maybe he'll get a staff Infection and go in a coma.
The clothes were nice matilda brought AP,
Granpa goat go fall on a needle.

Hi Nina,

Thanks.

"Cowboy hat guy is coming there to help..."

Well, at this point I don't see how he can hurt.

Patio Peeps,

I tried adding one screen cap and for the moment it's sticking. We'll see. If it hangs in, I'll add a couple more tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Carlos

Great screen caps, Carlos! I'm not sure Virginia would let any man enjoy watching a game instead of worshiping her.

Great screen caps Carlos

Did I get the recap correct? Grandpa Goat is going to make that un-gentleman Pablo pay for what he did to Manuel. But Grandpa, Manuel shot first. Oh that isn't what you will be testifying to. Oh really Grandpa Goat. You are going to make your grand daughter lie in court?

Looks like Lady Mariana still thinks that she will be marrying Pablo. Will weepy country girl get strong and fight for her future? Looks like that is what is going to come about. Little immature weepy country girl just might surprise us all and that includes smart city girl Lady Mariana.

Some people want jungle woman Nanciyaga to just go away. I don't think that Carlos is in that camp and I'm not either. I love jungle woman, she's a little delusional about Martin but the snails will get her straightened out and on track.

When Aaron hit Magdalena there was blood on her lip, our right side as we looked at the screen. However a few minutes later with the gag being put on and taken off there was no sign of any blood at all. Not even a little smear. Where did the makeup
special affects department go? Coffee break?

Was Martin trying to do a Tom Cruise with the taking off of the motorcycle helmet and hair fluff? I got the impression that he was playing to/for the camera.

Monday will be worth waiting for with the big rescue at hand. Will Aaron escape once again? Isn't it a little early to have the baddies--one baddie go down?

must see tv.
the gringo

So is ol granpa goat gonna make anaperla lie to the judge? Seriously old man? Who the hell does he think he is? And that piece of dog droppin his calls a grandson is supose to be somebody to be proud of? Really? These People are gettin on my last nerve. I should go to bed and enjoy the rain fall outside. Good nite ya'll.

One more thing before beddy by, Aldo is more efficient than the popolicia.
He should join the force and help get mannynutjob out of the way.

Carlos,

What a treat to have you recapping this capitulo. Thank you for the most delightful read.

And I loved the screen caps. Especially the one with V-Snake and Emi in bed. The look on his face cracked me up. I have to admit that I watched that a few times because I couldn't stop laughing at Emi's face. He looked at V-Snake like she was the most annoying thing on the planet. RUN EMI, RUN! This is a sign to get away from V-Snake. If you are this annoyed with her now, imagine if you get married. Yikes!

I thought there was a lot going on in this epi. It was a risk to have Vero meet with Aaron, but I think you needed that in order for Vero to soften to hearing Maggie's side of the story. Hopefully the rescue goes well on Monday.

I have to agree with those that liked Marty's motorcycle look. It actually took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting him to be on a motorcycle.

Can't wait for Monday.
Hasta Pronto!

Oh my, how lucky can we get! Who better than Carlos to take a Friday so our incomparable Mauricio can refuel? And it's clear, dear Carlos, that you haven't lost your touch. Such a wry, sly and surprisingly evenhanded take on the episode:

"Somehow Virginia believes that it’s Verónica’s fault. Emiliano thinks it’s more important that they resolve their differences with Jorge as he and Nicolas leave. Salma and Ginny agree that Verónica pretty much spoils everything. “Verónica, Verónica Verónica,” Virginia sighs."

Who would have guessed that the Founder and sole Member of the Virginia Fan Club had written these lines?

As for Martín as "superhero action figure" – mock if you must, but some of us are enjoying the view!

Best line of the recap, of course, was the subversive caption: "You Didn't Thank The Recapper"

Thank you so very much. (Now lower your weapon, okay?)

La Paloma,

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the recap.

"I'm not sure Virginia would let any man enjoy watching a game instead of worshiping her."

I have to reluctantly agree with you. I don't think that Virginia appreciates anything that distracts attention away from her wants and perceived needs, particularly adoration.

AuntyAnn,

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I must say that I'm thrilled that you will be recapping this TN. I've always enjoyed your comments and am certain that you are a natural. I'm eagerly anticipating your debut. I know that you'll be great.

"The look on his face cracked me up."

Me too. Probably the main reason I persisted in getting at least a couple of screen caps up. That look was priceless.

NovelaMaven,

Thanks. If you enjoyed it my effort was worth it.

"As for Martín as "superhero action figure" – mock if you must..."

Heck, I'm envious of the way he was able to pull off that look. Who would have guessed?

Subversive caption? OK... maybe a little. Low hanging fruit... I couldn't resist.

Carlos

Carlos, if it weren't for low hanging fruit, all our recaps would be suffering from scurvy. (Don't forget a slice of lime in the G & T!)

"...how about we keep Nanciyaga and her family of snails? She's pretty much the only truth teller that we have."

I'm not so sure I'd call her a "truth teller;" she may be a conduit for the truth, but she's pretty quick to deny what the stars and the elders tell her, never mind what the snails have to say. But I agree that we should keep her – I adore her dialogue and the way she startles and annoys our heroine with her unannounced appearances.

NovelaMaven---Agreed, Nanciyaga MUST stay. What would this show be without jungle woman, her machete and her snails? And if she ever gets lonely in the swimming hole, well???
the gringo

Carlos, What a wonderful thing to read another recap by you! It’s been a while but I can see you have not lost the knack. And of course your screenshots are like a lot of thick chocolate icing on the cake.

Like AuntyAnn and you have pointed out, Niño’s expression was quite amusing. You captured it exactly and your caption was perfecto.

“Verónica and Jorge recommit to each other and reconfirm their close relationship to one another in sooo many words… Next!” LOL!

“Ginny thinks that she should dump Pablo after the way he’s treated her.”
Hey Ginny, this is some advice that I think Mariana should pay attention to.

Didn’t Nanciyaga love Dimmi before he killed himself? And then she immediately loves his brother when he arrives? And then she has sex with Emi while her corazon is so filled with love for Patrón?
She seems a little fickle to me.

Carlos, I share your confusion about Mariana’s reason for Pablo not contacting the police. Pablo was originally treated by a doctor in Pueblo Verde and then by a hand surgeon in DF. Dr. Dan never treated Pablo though he seems more than willing to supply information about other Drs.’ patients to the interested parties.

Nina, loved your weed rant.

My favorite scene of the show: Old Goat telling Matilda that though she seemed like a decent fureña, he can’t believe she raised Vero who grew up to be so argumentative and rebellious. Mati answers you raise them with love and they take their own road—just like YOUR nieto. Grandpa Goat’s expression: priceless!

Barbara

Barbara,

Thanks. I'm so pleased that you found the recap and the captioned screen shots entertaining.

While I think that your choice of favorite scenes was a good one, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned my favorite scene which was Monserrat pointing out the positive side of Pablo never painting again... it will make the paintings that he has done much more valuable since they will have been his last. Comforting thoughts.

NovelaMaven and gringo, I'm happy you guys are with me in appreciating Nanciyaga's valuable contributions to the show even though each of us probably appreciates entirely different gifts that she brings to the show.

By the way, did anyone see the point of that strange scene with Ramón and the three weird sisters?

Carlos

I would love to see magda and selma get into
It over their daughters. Magda would win that fight. Something's up with selma, she's so Intent on hateing veronica. There is something suspicious about that deep seeded hatred she has for vero. Thats what
I'm think anyway.

Carlos---I thought that Ramon was put in the show just for comic relief.

I do admit that it would be nice going swimming with Nanciyaga but I also like to see her and her machete in action. And lets not leave out the snails. I mean where would the show be without a roll of the snails to give us all a heads up as to what is coming at some point in the future? You have to love it. Another thing, if I come down sick with an ailment of some kind, I'm calling for Dr. Nanci and her leaves. Forget about Bristol Squibb Myers, I'm going with smoke and magic leaves.

the gringo

Carlos, I agree that Monserrat was surprisingly pragmatic and there was no need for Mariana to fly off the handle.

Though I hate Manuel and Aarón, I have to admit I really hate every scene with Ramón. What a waste of time and space. Has he really been funny even once?

Barbara

The gentlest way to see Ramón is as a stock comic figure. A somewhat less gentle interpretation is to see him as a stand-in for the fat jokes that they don't dare aim at Matilde. Either way, his scenes are sadly unfunny (though I like the actor and keep hoping the script will deal him a better hand).

"Verónica and Jorge recommit to each other and reconfirm their close relationship to one another in sooo many words… Next!"
Yowza, Barbara, I almost missed that great line! Thanks for bringing it front and center!

And Carlos, thanks for the screen shots. Not only are your captions are always the best, but you have a flair for selecting the most evocative images.

Iam so glad pablos moma came, even tho
Mari is the one who called her, what? she lookin for browny points? I don't think moma likes mariana. If she was around whinny ana perla all time she might not like her either.

Nanciyaga does have some saving grace, shes up front, shes not sneaky like v-snake,
And mariana. She tells martin how It's gonna
Be and thats it, no matter how crazy she sounds or how much she pisses ronny off.
But she should stop listening to those snails. Cause she is not going to have marteen. He might be upset with the wife, but he us really into the wife, not the machete swinging jungle chick. Even tho she has her good points. machete moma!!!!

Gringo, I hope you and nanciyaga live happilly everafter. You crazy jungle swinging
Kids. :-D ♡:-D♥:-D♡

NovelaMaven,

I'm so glad that everyone (and especially you) seem to enjoy the screen caps with captions. There were so many obstacles to getting them done this time around that at one point I gave up even trying. I'm glad that I went back and gave it another shot. I just hope everyone (or at least most everyone) had an opportunity to check back to see them.

Lila,

"But she should stop listening to those snails. Cause she is not going to have marteen."

I'm not sure that she has had the courage to consult the snails about Martín, and if she has, I'm pretty sure she is not listening... after all, she admits to defying the stars on that matter.

I'd like to see her have one of her sessions with Eleazer. Can you even imagine that?

Carlos

Hey carlos Im the one that said that about.nanci,
"but she should stop listening to those snails, because she is not going to have marteen".
I'd like to see how a session with Eleazer would turn out also. Ye ol goat would prbably tip over.

Ay, Carlos! Even though I am not watching this tn, I had to stop in and read one of your recaps with your signature subversive screen shots and captions. I've missed them. :)

Is Nanciyaga really the best example of an honest person in this tn when she's hiding from Martin the very big fact that Vero was not the woman Dim was dating? That's a pretty big lie, and all just to give her the best opportunity to have Martin (despite what the snails and elders tell her). Makes her seem downright Virginia-esque-- perpetuating a lie that makes Vero look bad in the eyes of the man she (Nanci) desires.

Nina,

Sorry about that. Of course it was you who made that comment. As for Crescencio tipping over, I don't know, he's amazingly resilient.

Carlos

Carlos,
Thank you for adding those great screen caps. I loved them all and especially enjoyed the "You Forgot To Thank The Recapper" one and the one with Marty in the cycle gear. He was able to pull off that look.

Nina,

"Maybe he'll get a staff Infection and go in a coma."

Granpa goat go fall on a needle.

LOL Nina. I agree with these ideas. I also loved your enema idea from Thursday.

Hi Vivi,

I'm so glad you dropped by. I was hoping that you would. As for Nanciyaga's truthfulness... while it's true that she has not been forthcoming with Martín about everything that she knows, she has never actually told him that Verónica is Dimitrio's mala mujer.

Can anyone think of an outright lie that Nanciyaga has ever uttered? I thought not. She might not be completely honest but I think that she is always truthful.

NovelaMaven said:

"...she may be a conduit for the truth, but she's pretty quick to deny what the stars and the elders tell her..."

I don't think that she's denied what the stars and the elders tell her, but rather defied what they've told her. I think that deep down she realizes that this defiance won't turn out well for her... but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Carlos

About Ramon, it is a shame that Mejia is wasting the actor by making him pointless filler. His scenes have been unfunny and definitely FF material.

Carlos, I like your screen pictures, and the snappy funny lines under them. There a perfect fit for the expressions on their faces.
I forgot how funny your recaps are. They'll be
Even funnier with those screen pics. :-D.

Nina,

So happy that you got to see the photos and captions. For me that is usually the treat I enjoy after completing the recap, but this time I encountered some roadblocks that turned it into a nightmare for several hours and as I mentioned, I almost gave up on it. Fortunately I found a way around the problems so managed to produce at least a few that I thought were pretty good. Unfortunately it was pretty well too late for something that I had planned to do which was to put up an uncaptioned photo and solicit from you guys your own suggested captions for it. Perhaps another time.

Carlos

I have not been watching this show, but I enjoyed reading a snappy Carlos recap. Great job ! The captioned photos brought back memories of CI and echoes of "Next !" Thanks, amigo.

Carlos that would have been so cool and fun, cause I thought of something funny to say
Under ye lo goats picture. Maybe you can do that in a future recap sometime.

Thanks my dear!;-)

I might have missed something, but I don't think our supergal, Veronica, has been dishonest in any way, has she?

Things I like about Nanciblahblah:

She's truthful if not completely honest. Apart from the glaring omission of not telling Martin that he has blamed the wrong V. Prado-Castillo, she has told the truth, even when people didn't want to hear it.

She's strong. She is a refreshing change from the helpless, high-heel wearing city girls that are so common in TNs. She fought off Manual when he attempted to rape her all by herself.

She is free, independent, and unattached to any males. (I'm not counting her tribe's elders because they don't seem to be supervising her day to day. In comparison to the Old Goat, she's free of male supervision.) That also is uncommon in telenovelas.

I love her flutes and bongos theme music.

I think the actress doing a great job in this role and absolutely loathed her in LQNPA, so that's something.

Carlos...My favorite caption..."Bippity Bippity Boo!"

Susanlynn,

How happy it makes me that you dropped by. I'm not at all surprised by your choice of captions. Did you enjoy Poldark? By the way, the guy who played Ross the first time around had a small part as one of the bad guys. I hope that things are going well for you these days.

Carlos

Carlos,

"Well whatever, Julio is pretty gloomy (agüítado) about the whole thing (how the heck does this bumpkin know a word like that?)."

Interesting question. According to the RAE, the verb it comes from, agüitarse (to become sad) is a regionalism heard in Mexico and El Salvador. So I guess the bumpkin comes by it honestly. :)

Carlos, I don't think I had ever had the privilege of reading one of your recaps, but based on all your comments, I knew we were in for a fun one! Thanks, you had me laughing from beginning to end, and the extra treat of your screen caps and titles, made it that much better. My favorite being "You Didn't Thank The Recapper"!

I agree with NovelaMaven's last comment. I have always heard the word "agüitado" as being "down in the dumps" so to speak, so it didn't sound strange coming from Julio. I just wish he would perk up a bit, maybe run into the new school teacher and be "Ana Perla who?" At this rate, he is going to die of sadness.

Looking forward to tonight's outcome, and hopefully Aaron is caught.

Maricruz

Carlos, I am fine. ..still teaching ESL and still loving my students and the process. I usually only follow one telenovela at a time. I just finished Sombras , and I am now trying to get into Muchacha Italiana . How is retirement ?

I enjoyed Poldark and the handsome , though morose, leading man.I feel as if I should be sipping a Dark and STORMY when I watch. However, I prefer my heroes a bit more devil-may-care , and thus I have become hopelessly obsessed with Outlander and its sweettalking , romantic Highland warrior Jamie. I think that he puts me in mind of one of my favorite heroes Duncan McCleod from Highlander. Ironically, Poldark SEEMS to be a tortured soul....but Jamie WAS ,in fact , tortured. I would love to see your screencaps for this show. In fact, I found really funny screencaps and captions for it online. They made me think of you. You should check them out. I will try to remember the recapper's name if you are interested in seeing them.

Maricruz,

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the recap and found it amusing. My last recapping job was with CI. I've pretty much retired from regular recapping but I did enjoy the opportunity to relive the experience. A lot of fun.

NovelaMaven and Maricruz,

Thanks for the information about the adjective, agüitado. I've been exposed to a fair amount of Spanish including TNs, movies, and literature as well as speaking with folks in the community and I've never encountered that word nor would I have guessed its origin. I like it a lot. I presume its meaning is similar to achicopalado, another word I like a lot. Do you guys know if there is much distinction between the two words?

Carlos

Susanlynn,

I'm enjoying retirement though I do miss my patients quite a bit. Fortunately we are able to get together with my former employees from time to time.

I can imagine both recapping and captioning screen caps taken from the episodes of Poldark, it's ideally suited for both. If you can remember who did them I'd love to know. Dark and Stormy is the perfect drink to accompany Poldark. I was really enjoying Outlander right up to those last two episodes then... YIKES! And yes, I too still miss Duncan McLeod.

Carlos

Carlos,

Several Outlander episodes have funny captioned photos and recaps. Check here :

I’m only going by the book here, Carlos and Maricruz, but according to this source, el Diccionario de mexicanismos de la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua –

http://www.academia.org.mx/DiccionarioDeMexicanismos

– the verbs are related, but not identical in meaning. Achicopalado seems to mean simply “sad” or “down” while agüitado seems to carry an extra sense of being demoralized or ashamed.

achicopalar: Entristecer a alguien
achicopalarse: Entristecerse

agüitar: coloq. Turbar, abatir o desmoralizar alguien o algo a una persona.
agüitarse: coloq. Avergonzarse.

Telenovela writers seem fond of “achicopalado,” don’t they? I’m not sure I’ve noticed “agüitado” before.

Carolina,

I think you're right about our girl Verónica – she has been honest to a fault. Her frank acknowledgment that money matters was one of the things that got her in trouble in the beginning of the story.

NovelaMaven,

Thanks so much for helping me clarify the fine distinction between the two words. This is one of the things I miss about not having my weekly Spanish lessons with my beloved tutor Adriana who is a native speaker as well as an academician. First she moved to Austin and more recently moved to Brooklyn to be near her children. She and I would often have protracted discussions about the meanings of various words. I still recall the very first such discussion we ever had... it was about what the word cursi means. She taught me so much and I miss her so much.

Susanlynn,

Thanks. Funny stuff.

Carlos

An academician, a native speaker and apparently, a lovely human being – wow! I feel as if I miss Adriana too even though I've never met her!

We should get word-nerdier around here, don't you think?

Thank you NovelaMaven for the clarification about the two words.

Yes, Veronica has been honest and hasn't told a lie yet.

Oops my post came out twice. Not sure how that happened. I only hit the "publish" button once.

NovelaMaven,

"We should get word-nerdier around here, don't you think?"

I do. I love words both English and Spanish and from a very early age have striven to use the most precise words available to me. And perhaps while we're at it, grammar-centic as well. I always enjoy your little grammar lessons, they remind me of some of my sessions with Adriana who insisted that I master the subjunctive tenses and would manipulate me into the use of if clauses during our conversations. As you have pointed out many times, the TNs are a rich source for examples of many of the more complex grammatical constructions as well as useful vocabulary.

Carlos

Mauricio,

De nada.
De nada.

(Maybe you can hold the extra thank you as a kind of Get-out-of-jail-free card.) :D

Carlos,

Really? I'll start listening for interesting stuff – and not necessarily on the nights I recap. I do love me some gnarly grammar.

Hi Susanlynn! Nice to see you here! (You're missing out on a fun one.)

Thank you Carlos for a great recap. I missed Friday's episode and don't feel I need to watch it at all because this was very thorough and got me up to speed. I died at Nanci and Vero dueling to the death for HONOR with their respective machete and saber.

Oh and I LOVE Outlander too! About to start the 2nd book in the series and can't wait for Season 2!

Jackie...My soulmate. !!! Did you check out the site that I gave Carlos? I am currently finishing book 5. I found a site with verra funny recapscand captioned photos of all the episodes... Ye ken ? Goggle ...Outlander recaps connievb killing time.
