Do what you gotta do, bro La Sombra Del Pasado 119 (Mx 122) 08/03/2015

Hello my peeps, here is your recap!

When trying to bribe someone goes wrong:

Severiano is acting like a creeper and hiding in the shadows waiting for the , eh, what is he? Detective, ministerio publico, police officer? Sev tells the officer that he wants to know what he needs to do in order to get his gun back, the officer says it's simple: All he has to do is wait for Adriano's trail to be over. Sev says  he would be willing to give the good officer a very good compensation for his help. The officer wants to know how much Sev is willing to pay and Sev says that that's up to him (the officer).

Officer: "Well, I can tell you're terrified that we will match the bullets found in Raymundo's body to your gun"
Sev:" No, that's not the case at all, that's just one more story made up by that crazy woman. I don't even think the bullets came from the body, who knows where she got them from, so what do you say, will you help me get back the gun?"
Officer: I'm sorry but your offer doesn't interest me Mr. Mendoza, in fact  I don't have the gun any more, I recommend you try to bribe the judge, maybe you'll have better luck with him. Good night

Sev is left with his mouth hanging open, it was AWESOME.

This is all your Fault!:

In Padre Jeronimo's house Aldonza makes another attempt at trying to comfort E-man. She tells him she's always had a deep affection for him, even before she knew he was her brother-this seems to hit a nerve with E-man and he looks like he is remembering something. Aldi gives him a kiss on the forehead and leaves.

Adelina is ready to go home and but Aldi is not going with her, she's spending the night at Padre J's to look after E. Adelina asks if she wants her to stay and Aldi says no. This leads to another mini blow out in which Aldonza blames Ade for the suffering E-man is going through. Adelina says she did her best, it is obvious to her now that that was not enough.

**Recapper Rant*

Ok, so we all know what happened the night that E-man was born. The two women were home alone with baby Aldonza, there was a terrible storm, Humberto almost killed Roberta and Adelina had to choose: look after her sister who was bleeding to death, or chase after Sev and a "dead" baby. I understand why she ran back into the house, getting Roberta medical attention was an immediate need BUT what I don't understand is why she never looked for E-man, especially after learning earlier this week that she always suspected the baby had not died.

After she got Roberta to the hospital and things settled down she never did anything to make sure that Sev told her the truth, even when she KNEW what a rat bastard he is, she took what he said as gospel. It's not like they moved away and had no access to Humberto and Severiano, so why did she never ask to see a body, to know where the baby was buried, to be shown a death certificate proving that the baby had in fact died? And why did she never tell Roberta that she thought the baby was still alive? So yeah, Adelina carries a great deal of responsibility for what happened, shame on her for never lifting a finger to try and look for E-man.

Back to the recap

Aldonza calms down and tells Adelina that she forgives her, Adelina tells her that she has Ray's ashes and will bring them to Padre J if that's ok with Aldi. Aldonza tells her that it's fine.

Aldi and Cris almost kiss:

Cris comes to check up on E-man, but he is already in bed, he tells Aldi that what their parents had was dark and twisty but their love is pure and good and they almost kiss, till Padre J walks in. Cris leaves and when Padre J questions Aldi she says she does not want to talk about it and truth be told he says, neither does he, they go to bed.

Las Aventuras de Lola:

I know Lola gets a bad rap, but I like her. Yes, she has made mistakes but by golly she is a good person, and I'm rooting for her.

Her first stop of the day is Padre J's house, she's come to see how E is doing and gets tricked by Aldonza into taking him breakfast, but it seems like E-man is in the middle of a hunger strike because he refuses to eat. Lola is about to leave but he asks her to just be quiet and stay with him, she's not so sure she can sit around without talking but she stays.

After she leaves Padre J's she goes to the bank to check her balance, Uriel helps her and tells her that at the rate she's saving she will soon be the richest woman in Santa Lucia, Lola thanks him for his help and leaves. She bumps into the loan shark and tells him she will pay off Irma's debt, or at least enough of it so that the shop wont be taken away, she makes arrangements to call the loan shark later to go over the details, and she requests that LS not say anything to Irma about her involvement. Mari watches this interaction go down.

After she runs these errands she goes back to see Eman but bumps into Cris, she tells him that they need to chat about Aldi and they go to have coffee. Once at the coffee shop Lola tells him she is worried- she spills the beans about the bullets found in Ray's body and how Aldi believes Sev had something to do with it. Lola worries that something bad will happen to Aldonza for investigating this, poor Cris, his parents really do suck balls.

Cris and the harpy Valeria

I almost forgot about this scene, ooops. Cris is having lunch when Val walks in, she says she's happy that E-man finally found himself a family. Cris is like "nah you witch, you always treated him like poo" but Val says that being knocked up changed the way she looks at things- she's afraid that their baby will suffer the same way E-man did for coming from a broken home. Cris stops her and says that between her and Candela they are driving him cray, and he will not be emotionally manipulated by either of them. He calls her out and says she's a hypocrite who has a new found love for E-man only because she's discovered he's a Mendoza, he stalks off and the patio cheers.

Tomas wants blood

Tomas is at Pru's house shouting for her to come out and face him but he only gets poor Juana who tells him that Pru got drunk off her a$$ and then took a bunch of pills like they were candy and is now passed out. Tomas, says that's fine, he'll come back and face her when she's sober, but Juana tells him that's probably not going to happen because she can't remember the last time Pru was sober. It turns out that Pru is always drunk or high on her pills, she has no friends and neither her husband nor daughter give her the time of day. Tomas says he will come back to face Drunky Mc. Drunkdrunk later.

In the clinic Silvia wakes up in tremendous pain, Renato comforts her and tells her she's safe and that everything will be okay. The next morning Silvia sees her new doctor who says the inflammation has gone down a great deal which increases her chances at making a full recovery...or something close to it which just freaks Silvia out more. He says he does not want to promise her anything and he will know more once they get the results back on the substance she was attacked with is but for now her progress is great.

Pato visists Silvia and he tells her that Tomas is out trying to even the score with Pru, and that Ren has already gone to the police station and made a report, Silvia says it's going to be hard to find her attackers because she hardly saw them, Pato then wonders outloud if she really thinks crazy Pru was behind the attack just as Humberto and Aldi walk in the room, Hum is all like "que?".

While this is all going on Tomas has kept his word and has returned to Pru's house, he shouts at her and demands that drunky come out and face him! She has to answer for what she did to Silvia! Pru and Juana both say that she (Pru) has a gun- she does not, and that the police are on their way (they are), Tomas spots the officers and runs away.

It's time to make amends:

Humberto says that if Pru really was behind Silvia's attack he will have her locked up in a mental institution! But that's not even the best part of this conversation, the best part is when he tells Aldi that he is going to give her and E the santuario. This he says, is a small way to make up for what he did to E who deserves something after everything that has been taken from him, he never got anything from his father but now he'll at least get this. I find it delicious that Sev never gave anything to E and now E is going to get the one thing Sev really wants in life, bwaaaahahahaha.

Aldi offers to pay for the property but Humberto declines any form of payment, if anyone should have those lands it is her and E. Aldi asks what he thinks Sev will do when he finds out Humberto's plan for ES and just who should walk in the door at that very second? Sev. And he wants to know what the hell is going on. Humberto tells him it does not concern him, and this leads to Sev trying to attack Aldi but Hum gets in the way and Aldi runs away.

Sev wants to know what Aldi made Humberto do and Hum says to leave her out of it, then Sev has a slip about being able to get to Aldi any time he wants, Humberto tells him what he means by that and Sev tells him to use his imagination, ugh what a disgusting animal. Humberto warns Sev against doing anything against Aldi. Sev tells Humberto he wants his lands and that he better have them placed under his name within 15 days or else Hum is dead meat. Humberto tells him the deed to the lands is in his name and offers to pay Sev his money back, but he is not going to return the property. Sev continues to threaten him but Hum holds firm, he basically tells Sev "do what you gotta do bro, but I've left instructions about what should happen of anything happens to me"- I love a man that plans ahead, don't you?

Sev leaves and when he gets home he calls Nava and asks him for a favor. Cristobal comes home and wants to know if Sev had anything to do with Ray's death. Sev says "nope" and Cris warns him that if anything happens to Aldi he will make sure that Sev lands in the pokey.

There's also a scene where Val goes to see Aldi and tells her that her child will be treated like E because Cris won't marry her. Aldi tells her that that's not her fault and that she's not the reason Cris wont marry her, Val does not buy it. Adelina comes home and Aldi gives her the good news: she's getting ES back!

Oh and where did Adelina come from? Padre J's house. She went to visit E-man, she apologizes to him and tells his she should have done more for him, she gives him a picture of Roberta and this brings a new wave of tears from E. E-man wonders if Roberta cared about him and Adelina says she did and that all of them would have loved him if Sev had not taken him away, she also tells him that Roberta was not perfect but that she always mourned his loss, then she tells him she will always be there for him (yay?) and gives him a kiss. Adelina leaves and E-man continues to weep.

And I'm out! See ya all next week!

Great recap, Eli. I love your enthusiasm (AWESOME!) and your Recapper Rant and your asides, as in "I love a man who plans ahead, don't you?"

Had to laugh when Lola admitted she'd have a hard time staying silent with Eman, and indeed she did have a bit more verbiage. But let's just say they looked sweet sitting together.

Silvia's shrieks continue to horrify me. She's really portraying the searing pain of that attack. I can practically feel my own eyes burning.

Humberto is morphing from a weak man into a hero, and yes, there's a delicious irony, as you pointed out Eli, in him receiving the one thing that Papa Severiano really really wants for hissownself.

And finally, must admit I always chuckle cynically when a telenovela hero vaunts his love as "puro y bueno". Can't quite believe any human love is "pure"...it's all mixed in with a little...or a lot...of lust..and selfishness...and all the other characteristics, both noble and ignoble, of earthly beings. But...whatever...

Great recap.Entertaining and to the point. Thanks again, Eli.

Thanks Eli--lord the fussin' and fighitn' last night. great recap of it all.

And CUE THE RED DRESS. I saw Ade walk in with that dress on and about freaked. Has to mean something, and I'm afraid to say what I'm thinking.

There's a glimmer of E-man coming to life, but I had to cringe a little with Ade suddenly being so accepting. I have to agree, she could have made this happen earlier, even in more recent times and seemed reluctant. I think only the fact it's a done deal and she can see how broken he is, she's making the effort. Someone take him to ES and let him hug Solitario. I think the horse is the only living thing who understands him right now.

Oh, Hum is so dead man walking and he knows it. Kudos to him finally standing up to Sev, but I think Sev is not smart enough to know doing something to Hum might just be his undoing.

Where is Cande? Odd she's not out and about with her fashionable neck braces while all the fussing is going on. And did anyone else want Cris to smack Sev for that hitting to the lips? Good lord...forget honor thy father. Just slap him.

Daisynjay

Thanks Eli, awesome job.

Isn't bribery illegal in Mexico? Inspector Incompetante should have arrested him.

The answer to your Adelina question is Adelina is a hand wringer. That's how she deals with everything. It would have upset too many applecarts for her to have taken action.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Mari will take the credit for paying Irma's debt. Lola made LS keep quiet about where the money comes from.

As to your comment in Purple, I never thought about that way, what a wonderful point!!!

Gracias, Eli. This was episode 122 in Mexico.

I agree with you on both counts:

-- Rant about Adelina's failure to investigate whether the baby was dead or alive. I'm going to guess that she knew that Roberta would use a live child to either maintain ties to Sev or just to get dinero out of him. Neither of which would be good for either of them in her mind. That is not an adequate reason.
-- The irony of Emanuel getting El Santuario. A good way to stick it to Sev, but an unnecessary and foolish sacrifice. Not to mention that if she did that and left SL for DF (or wherever) Emanuel would have to deal with Sev's criminal attempts at getting it back again.

I keep thinking of Luis Xavier's character in LQLVMR and fear he will meet a similar fate.

Love it Eli, and thanks a bunch

"Cris is like "nah you witch, you always treated him like poo"

Adelina looks like a faker to me, she don't give two craps about Emanuel

Humberto you rock and Emanuel is the best thing ever for Aldonza's mis planes.

Thelma keeps bringing it. Her facial expressions kill me.

Ok Lola is a sweet girl and commendable she wants to help Irma out for helping her but as a gf to those boys, especially Emanuel, she sucks.

But of course the best line of the night goes to the top cop directing Severiano to the judge. Hehe

How in the world Cris didn't punch Severiano when he started smacking his mouth to shut him up? Urg

Eli! Woo hoo! Gracias! I love your recap and your rant!

I was on the Lola love-train last night when she went to the bank and talked to the loan shark. Look who's behaving like a daughter who loves her mother--take note, Mari!

Hello, Adelina, in the red dress, con bubis y todo! But still with the "Aw, gee, I dunno, honey, this all sounds scary." Adelina, if you're gonna wear the red dress, you've gotta wear the red dress, knowwhatimean?

"You do what you gotta do bro," Muahahahahahahahahaha! Awww, poor Sev, he's having such a bad day. Muahahahahahahahahahahaha! I just hope it's not a bluff and Humberto has talked to Renato already.

I think Silvia's going to be fine, and I like that the doctor isn't over-promising, but that's sure not helping her to calm down.

For Em's sake, I'm glad El Santuario is being handed over and there is NOTHING Sev can do about it...wait, I had to stop and laugh about that all over again...ok, I'm done now...wait, no I'm not...ahem, ok. From an overall plot perspective, I'm not happy that this isn't something Aldonza achieved by the sweat of her brow or her cunning Mis Planes. The closest I can get is that she earned it by being so stubborn. I feel like the production is sort of laughing at all my concerns about the crops and the animals with "Aw, c'mon, you didn't really think we were going to let her get thrown off the land after a year, did you? Sucker!"

Anyway, thanks again, Eli. I don't know if I'll have a lot of time this afternoon to hang out and chat, but I'm looking forward to reading the reactions.

Great recap Eli! I totally missed the cutting remark about the judge that the detective left Sev with! LOVE IT!!

Lola, Lola, Lola. Sigh. She's a sweet kid. It's so in character for her to use her savings to help out Irma. I was surprised that she told Cris what was up with Aldie, but glad. Someone should give this guy a clue about what his wife is up to; he has literally never known what she's planning until she already put it into motion. I was still irritated with her for all of the talking, but at least she admitted it straight out. Why she couldn't just shut up is beyond me, but at least everything she said was pretty generic, nothing particularly foolish. I was a little disappointed that her explanation for not wanting to see Eman came out like a sulky kid, but whatever. The TNs almost over, so I'll take it.

Mari - More repentance? Ugh.
Val - Ugh.

Tomas - Thumbs up, and I hope the main turns over that phone soon.
Silvia better as crap get back all of her eye sight. I get the significance of making one of the only people on this TN that looks at things clearly blind, but no. Just no. Glad to hear the specialist say things seem right on track.

Sev - it is funny that after decades of trying to get that land back in his family, his son now has it and is sharing it with the great-grandaughter of the man that "stole" it from the Mendozas.

Eli- Loved, loved, all your side comments, cheers, and rants.

Sever is going to have a conniption fit when he learns Hum is turning over Santuario to Al AND Eman. Ha! And it's not like he'll be able to get him to budge since Hum considers Eman to be HIS son. It's such a nice little bit of poetic justice. I really do hope Hum has that "open upon my death" kind of envelope with the lawyers, which details ALL of Sever's evil deeds that he knows about.

Cris is taking this honor your father and your mother thing too far. Just what will it take to get him to smack his father? And, Cande is just fine now, so why hasn't he retaken his move out plan? It all just makes his threats to hurt/jail Sever if Al is harmed seem empty. Why would either parent believe his threats?

I sure hope Mari doesn't take credit for paying the loan shark, but I think that would be pretty easy for Uriel, the bank manager, to disprove if she didn't withdraw any money. It wouldn't be a very smart lie. But very sweet of Lola to do this for Irma. She has often said to Irma that she considers her a mother.

Thank you Eli for a great recap. ITA that it was quite awesome when the policeman/inspector dude declined to take Sever's bribe!

I recently watched the first 10 or so episodes since I missed them in the beginning. I copied part of your rant because I believe Ade did a couple of things:

"so why did she never ask to see a body, to know where the baby was buried, to be shown a death certificate proving that the baby had in fact died? And why did she never tell Roberta that she thought the baby was still alive?"

Before Sever left the house she told him she wanted to see the body but he blew her off. She also asked Sever where he buried the baby but he refused to tell her anything. And not too many episodes ago she told Padre that she did not tell Rob that the baby could be alive because she was afraid that Rob would continue to see and go after Sever.

But I don't disagree that she could have done more.

Thanks for clearing up where Lola had the money. I hope Mari overhearing part of this will turn her into a better person seeing how Lola is so generous. We can hope, right? And I absolutely can't wait to see Pru go down for what she did to Silvia. I hope Juana still has the phone.

It was good seeing Eman up, out of the bedroom, and dressed (well, maybe not the dressed part). Seems that Lola's visit actually did him some good. Whatever our opinion of her, Lola is the one who Eman's heart desires. She got more words out of him than anybody else in the last five episodes combined.

Okay, Eli I just have to stop and do some serious cracking up! The tone of the recap is very enjoyable and easy, conversational and almost "ladylike" in tone (I hope you don't mind me using an antiquated concept) anyway, it's all like that and then suddenly, this jumps out

poor Cris, his parents really do suck balls.

OMG! I'm glad I wasn't eating or drinking! I would have choked or spewed! That is SO FUNNY! Thanks! Okay, back to the recap.

Done! Thank you, Eli!, I enjoyed it immensely, just as I did the episode. Will catch comments in a bit, and forgive me if someone already said this but, what's the deal with Adelina in a red dress with cleavage showing? Adelina? Red, tight, dress? No cardigan? Cleavage? That doesn't bode well for her future, it's like she's a marked woman. And the creepy way she caressed the box of Raimundo's ashes and then stared at the space where they once rested when she got back to ES. Who digs that kinda "love"?

Anyway, enough fussing, YAAAY! Eman and Aldonza get ES! It IS delicious, Eli, it IS!

Lola's good deed for Irma (hope she is able to pull it off) will cause me to stop fussing about her scowling, hang-dog self. I'll cut her a little break.

And they're dragging the "Is Sylvia blind?" thing out: it's excruciating!

So, no deep observations from me, I'll leave that up to y'all, back later to see what everyone thought. Thanks again, Eli!

Thank you so much, Eli!! After my bitchfest I did enjoy the show more last night and I love your recap even more.

I love your little pink note about Em getting the one damn thing Sev wants soooo bad. That's just the cherry on top to me!

One thing of note: They but Adelina in a stunning red dress that was flattering as hell and she still had those damn orthopedic shoes on!!! QTFH?

Yeah, so far we have those rocking the red dresses during the show as Roberta, Simonetta and now Adelina. I know Mari tried a version of a cutesie style once at that party, but that doesn't count since it was multicolored. I did have to chuckle after freaking out at the RED of the dress that I saw she still had her solid black nun shoes on. There's a way to look provocative.

Hadn't even thought about Mari thinking of taking the credit. Did Eman give her the check back so she has the money again? I was wondering if it was more getting a clue and realizing that Lola wasn't so bad after all and taking care of her Mother who's in trouble. Did get a kick out of the fact she was so close to them, staring right at them which meant the dude could see her plain as day and he didn't even think twice about continuing the conversation.

Can we get a closeup of Val when she finds out she lost ES to Eman and Al? That freeze frame will be dart board worthy I'm guessing.

Daisynjay

We crossed up Sara-- yeah those shoes are the gift that keeps on giving.

Daisynjay

I didn't even listen to what they were saying during that scene because I *had* to see the shoes. Ade took off that coat and I was "OMG I WANT THAT"...then I was "OMG ARE THE SHOES DIFFERENT?" I can't even describe my disappointment when I saw the clunks.

Ok. Lola annoys the stew out of me, but kudos for trying to pay pack Irma's loan. Mari deserves an anvil. I don't care what the writers think.

No, I cannot make my head equate selfless act for Irma and Emanuel worthy partner. Naw. This girl has treated both Emanuel and Pato like a yoyo. If Lola builds a guys confidence up it is to tear it down again. I so want Emanuel to say, sorry but you had your shot at treating me as a decent human you had known since we were children yet you continued to doubt me and lay traps, bugger off.

Oh, tofie!! I'm with you on that. I'm glad Lola is helping Irma....but Em still deserves someone better equipped for a relationship. Lola is not that person.

Eli--
Thank you, lady, for the graciously written recap. I support you. I do not scold you. It's ok to RANT in the middle of the recap, because you are in charge. I support you. I do not scold you.

Sev, who doesn't appreciate ANYONE just walking in on him in his office without knocking, feels he has a right to walk right into Hum's hospital office. Kinda knew it, though, that's how entitled folk behave normally. So, Sev didn't hear the part that both E-man and Al get ES--and Hum meant everything, the waterfall, the lands, the house?

I thought I heard Hum say to Al that from this day forward, ES, etc., etc. I assumed, from the look on Al's face he'd already done it. It would be lacking for him to say that if he hadn't contacted Renato yet (something else Sev will blame on Aldonza). BTW, why give Hum 15 days? Is he being generous? Someone like Sev would give him 24 or 48 hours.

IF (and that's my own personal IF) Al and Cris ever get together, and if Cris inherits his Dadda's LA, the three of them will probably be the biggest land-owners in the region. I hope they will be good stewards of the land.

I saw Addie's uplifted boobies enter the scene before I saw the red dress and did a double-take. QueQueWhat?

Did anyone else notice the dress Roberta had on in the picture Addie gave to E-man? Leopard print! She wore it well.

BTW, why give Hum 15 days?

The last episode is in about 15 days.

Thing consistent with Emanuel is he doesn't lie and he is punished and belittled by some, including Lola, because he doesn't lie. PJ was right, Emanuel the noblest of all and the best he gets is a jealous, vindictive, immature girl. No prize and foul.

Hum did say to Aldi that he had *already* spoken to Renato about giving ES to Eman and Aldi. Go Hum!!

TeeHee, Sara--El Fin in about 15 days! I was counting, too.

Daisynjay--I think E-man gave the check back to Uriel. He was trying to prove his innocence at the accusation that he conned Mari out of the money.

Hey LoriLoo--Where have you been? We've missed you on this revolving Patio.

ITA, Tofie! Yes, noble to pay off or down Irma's loan but I will be very pissed if we don't get a scene with Lola realizing Eman never lied to her, never slept with Mari and never even kissed her way back at the beginning of the show. I still don't like her. She's stupid and she doesn't have to be.

Vero for Eman!

Eli , thank you much, good recap.
Sev's gettin his arse handed to him, I love a man that plans ahead too.
I"ll be glad when somebody hands Vile val hers, I do not like that nasty person.
One day E-man will dry those tears and be happy, with looolah.
I hope Mari wont ruin lola's good deed for irma.
I hope sylvia gets her eyesite back and pru goes into the pokey.
I hope Hum ends up with his secretary. If shes not married.
And I hope adilena finds happiness somewhere, somehow, with somebody.
Later peeps:-D:-D:-D:-D
And they're already advertising the next tn to come after this one is over. The end is near.

As for Addie professing her love and support for E-man, I thought all the main characters were treating him like an outcast, beginning with Val & Pru. I don't ever remember him being invited in to Addie's for a meal, or cookies or anything to build up his self-esteem. Lola had to throw herself at him with a kiss for him to wake up and think there might be some good in him.

And before you tell me that he and Cris were buds from waaaay back, it's hard to be true friends when the social line had been drawn in the sand by Cande and Sev. He would always have felt below Cris--and Cris spent a lot of time abroad at school It was only when he desperately needed work they let him, since he was a natural born horse-whisperer.

And, speaking of Cris away abroad at school. If Cande has him on such a short umbilical cord, why did she allow him to go at all (she couldn't do much about the second time except send Val after him). You'd think she would shrivel up and die if she didn't know where he was 24/7--unless that was only a function of his possibly being with Aldie.

We did see Eman hanging out with Al at Santuario when this started, but it was sort of made clear that Rob didn't like anyone in the house, so they would meet outside the house. And the time Eman and Rob had their moment, she apologized for not remembering his name, even though he was Al's friend and had seen him a multitude of times.

...And she (Rob) had seen him a multitude of times.

ITA with you Anita, no one treated Emanuel well including Cris except for PJ. The social line still exist and he will never be treated an equal by Aldonza though she would be out on her butt if it weren't for him now. The reason Mari was able to spin so successful a lie is everyone was willing to believe it without question.

Anita- In the early episodes before and after Cris' first return from Spain, Sever and Cande had a few conversation about how Cande sent him away to keep him away from Sever, and she would go to Spain to visit him alone. At one point Cande was planning a trip to go to Spain with Cris, and before Sever could jump in and say he wanted to go too, Cande jumped in and said he couldn't go because he had to work. Cris then brought up how this was always the excuse for why Sever didn't visit him. Looks were passed between Sever and Cande, but this was back when they were still pretending to have a functional marriage in front of Cris. So basically, sending Cris away was punishment for Sever.

Al never believed the lie about Eman, and she doesn't treat him differently.

Thanks Anita! I miss all the patio peeps as well and miss commenting. Sometimes when I check in there are well over 100 comments on this TN!

I try not to comment from work but I can't help it today. This has become a favorite TN for me, and I never miss a recap.

Also, sending Cristobal away was to keep him from most of the evidence that his parents' marriage was a sham. However, he wasn't stupid enough to fall for that. He wasn't back long before he was asking questions.

Wow--Vivi! That was so long ago. I do remember now about Cande keeping Sev's visits to Cris in Spain to a minimum (and lastly the family vacation). If that's how she felt about Sev influencing Cris from the very beginning, no wonder she wanted to keep track of Cris.

It's sad Cris only asked questions. He didn't get good answers. AND--say it all together, now--He never moved out of the when he should have.

...HOUSE...

Thanks so much for the recap, Eli! I agree with your Adelina rant - if she had voiced her doubts about the baby to Roberta and PJ back when he was first born and, I don't know how long it would have taken for the truth to come to light but it certainly wouldn't have been 20+ years. Even if it took 5 years to sort out the truth, that would have made a HUGE difference and given Eman the chance to know and be raised by his Mother and grow up with his siblings or at least his sister since who knows what Sev/Cande would have done to keep little Cris away from him.... and I don't even think it would have taken that long if they were persistent in uncovering the truth. Adelina definitely wears some of the blame here even if indirectly.

Lila - Adelina caressing Ray's ashes was definitely creeps but then again so is her entire love for him. I can understand being married to a man for years and after he died, not being able to open yourself up and move on with someone else because you will always love him but in Adelina's case, she essentially had a secret crush on her sister's husband, a crush that he didn't even know about until a hot second before he died and because of that, she has literally never allowed herself to love or be loved by anyone in a romantic way destined to live a lonely single life. It's weird to say the least and I don't even understand when she formed this undying love for him since we know that she wasn't even living in SL and visited to help with the baby. We know Ray is from SL and Roberta is not so it's not like Adelina grew up with him and knew him for years like with PJ/Cande so when was this unbelievable love formed? During her limited visits to see her sister pre Aldonza? It really doesn't, make sense.

It didn't even occur to me that Mari might try and take credit for Lola possibly paying off Irma's debt. When I saw her lurking behind watching I figured that this act by Lola would be the moment when Mari realizes what a good person Lola is, feel bad about what she did to her, probably end up confessing some things and make it her mission to get Lola/Eman together for the good of true love or something cheesy like that. I have been convinced since the beginning that Lola will end up with Eman despite all the drama the show has created between them and that redemption!Mari would try and right her wrongs by fixing some of it.

Does it bother anyone else when Aldonza acts like her family lost ES solely because Sev set first to the vegetable garden? I may be remembering things incorrectly, but wasn't that just the straw that broke get camel's back and made Roberta agree to sell? Wasn't she already up to her ears in back payments and debt and was going to lose the property anyway because she could not pay? She was stubborn and didn't want to sell and the fire forced her hand but prior to that, she was begging for more time to pay from the bank. Was Sev doing other things to make the property not profitable which forced her into the loan/debt situation in the first place that I am missing?
It's possible....I may just not remember.

Ahhhh I had more to say but typing on an iPad rather than my usual computer is driving me nuts!

He should have, but I'm sure he would also have needed to live in DF or somewhere far enough and big enough where Sev had no influence. Had he stayed in SL Sev could have prevented him from getting any work or even anyplace to live.

Linda, yes Roberta was in debt but I thought she finally sold ES to Hum in order to leave town, after Sever raped Aldi. I don't think the fire in the orchard was what made her sell but it did add to her problems.

Eli - thank you for the recap. ATT Internet down here and comment box on iPhone microscopic so will just say thank you

LoriLoo and Linda - yes and yes. She was in debt, she needed to sell but refused to sell to Sev, who was really the only one in town with the money (and probably the inclination) to buy it. After she accused him of trying to burn the farm, he didn't want anyone to connect him to sale because and it would make him look guilty of setting the farm on fire to drive down the cost because lots of people (the bank, etc) knew he wanted to buy the land. After he raped Aldonza, he had Hum put up the offer for the farm to PJ, who Rob had asked to sell in her place because she had such a bad reputation in town and horrible credit; she thought his being in charge of the sale would help get her a better deal. She never knew Sev was the real buyer.

Adelina looks great in the dress, but horrible in the shoes. Her wearing red just can't bode well...

Anita - also, it was established after the time jump (through dialogue rather than really good demonstration because our writers are dumb sometimes) that Eman and Aldonza were good friends. Cris even asked Eman at one point if he wanted to date Aldie and he said he thought of her as a sister.

Also, Lola had a crush on E for years. It wasn't well known around town, but Irma, Mari, Dom (and Al?) all knew because Lola's crap at keeping secrets and was super obvious about it even when denying it. Mari did too, but kept it a secret better than Lola because Val was her bestie and looked so far down on Eman she said she would only have him at her wedding as a chauffeur (Mari thought he could walk Pru down the aisle or something like that).

I'm also getting more redemption vibe from Mari on the topic of Lola paying off Irma's loan. I wouldn't mind Mari trying to take credit because that just means actual anvil for her in my mind.

Linda, you nailed it about this strange and undying love for Raimundo! You described it's improbability perfectly! I guess this "love" was dreamed up by the same person who thinks love means flopping back and forth like a fish out of water and blind-siding this same love with divorce papers without warning and taking up with your ex while you're still married to the "love of your life" and all the other porquerías Aldonza has inflicted on Cris. The same person who builds a love story upon the unspeakable horror of the galan's father raping the leading lady within the first two weeks of the story.

Thank you for breaking it down for me and reminding me that it was the rape that was the actual catalyst for Roberta finally agreeing to sell! Can't believe that tidbit slipped my mind. My main point was that, even without the rape and without the fire, Roberta was going to lose that property regardless due to her own inability to keep up with the payments and in trying to do so, was driving herself and her family into debt. Either she sold and got a little money for it or the property would have eventually been seized and not only would Aldonza's family not have the land but she wouldn't have had the money to live for those few years away from town and then of course the money Roberta had saved and left her when Al/Adelina came back to town which Al used to set herself up again in SL. It's not like the vegetable garden was thriving and all was swell until Sev unleashed his menace and they lost it all.

Lila - We are definitely on the same wavelength in regards to Adelina's 'love' for Raymundo.

My gut is telling me that there were crop issues before Aldonza was born and perhaps all along that nobody figured out. Does anyone else think we'll finally find out that Sev was responsible for that, too?

Urban - THAT is an excellent theory about the crop issues! We may never find out of it is true but, who knows?!? Must see TV.
