La Sombra del Pasado, Capítulo 91, 06/23/2015: Everyone’s got a lost love

Recap courtesy of HellaShelle

The Short of It: Cris and Aldi agree they should take some time apart. Eman actually tied for first place in the horse competition. Cande and PJ get everyone to PJ’s special reconciliation mass. Ren and Silvia don’t kiss, but they do make up. Silvia’s says she’s Team Ren now. Tomás and Pru meet at the church. Sev tries to assault Aldonza AGAIN! The Phantom Pain stops him. Joaquin finally sees Adelina again and lays a big kiss on her. Flavia confronts Adriano about being a murderer. Mari feels guilty. Irma’s worries about Mari and asks Lola to help. Everyone but Cris attends the mass…where PJ announces Cris and Aldonza are NOT siblings and hands out proof! Val passes out. Cris is already on a bus out of town.

The Long of it:Lost Love #1: Believed Incest Cris and Aldonza sit awkwardly in her living room. Aldonza prompts her husb…bro…Cris to talk. As much as he wanted to talk to her, the words won’t come. He just can’t see her as his sister. She feels the same. He apologizes for being so stubborn. If he had given up before, she wouldn’t be in such pain now. She says they were both stubborn. Cris thinks it would be best if they didn’t see each other for a while, at least until they get used to being siblings. Aldonza agrees. There’s nothing much more to say. He starts to stand and Aldonza helps him up. They’re kissably close and they both feel it. Aldonza moves to lead him to the door. She goes one way around the flower table, he follows around the other, but they’re magnets, so they meet again at the front landing step. They draw close…before they again remember that their love is forbidden now. Cris offers his hand for a handshake, but they just hold each other’s hand before slowly pulling away. Cris finally leaves and Aldonza leans against the door and cries.

The horse competition crowd boos the first place winner, but only for a minute because it turns out it’s a tie! Emmanuel is ecstatic! Everyone cheers! Later Don Antonio congratulates him. Eman wants to pay him back right away, but Don Antonio tells him they’ll talk about it later at dinner. It’s Don’s treat, to further congratulate Eman.

Lost Love #2: Priests are off limits PJ convinces Candela that they should have a Reconciliation Mass and end this ridiculous feud between their families. He would like to do so publicly, so everyone is clear about Aldonza and Cris’s relationship. Besides, as a priest, it’s his job to promote peace in town. “There’s no one better to do this than you and I.” All Cande hears is “you and I.” She’s sold. Now she just has to convince Sev, Val, Pru…PJ isn’t worried about them. They are building a bridge. One point of that bridge is Cande; he is the other. He holds out his hand and she takes it. And thus was born a dark bargain, in the hand of an angel, in the house of God. It’s like a fun mirror version of Cris and Al.

Sev doesn’t want to go along with PJ’s plan. He doesn’t want to try to fix the feud because he is feuled by hatred and nightmares, but Cande assures him all he has to do is give face time. He can keep holding onto his hate in that void where his soul should be. Besides, it’ll help them heal the rift with Cris. Sev finally agrees. He’ll attend this mass and then he never wants to see that damned priest again!

PJ goes to talk to Tomás’s parents, who are named Simon and Lourdes tonight. They tell him why they kicked Tomás out. PJ doesn’t want to know the name of the mystery woman, but that’s ok because they still don’t know it themselves. PJ will house Tomás and try to get him to see the error of his ways.

Tomás stops Prudencia’s maid in the street and asks her to deliver a message to Pru for him. It’s a letter in which he tells her that his parents caught him and he needs to talk her. He asks to meet in the church. Pru is reading it in her room when Val comes in to tell her that Cande has invited them to dinner. Pru tells her to go ahead because she has to stop by the church. You know, to beg pardon for her sins.

Cris tells Cande he went to see Aldi, to say goodbye. He won’t pursue his own sister, obviously. Cande tells Cris about the mass. She makes sure to note that it was PJ’s idea, not hers, and that she thinks it will help Aldonza accept the situation. (Yes, because whenever I find out I’ve married my half-brother, what helps is making sure the entire town knows.) Cande tries to comfort Cris by stroking his hair. He removes her hand, but agrees to go. When she leaves, he asks Dom to find Lola for him.

Lost Love #3: May-December in a Church Pru and Tomás are in the church that is magically empty whenever two people need to have a moment. Pru sits behind Tomás’s pew as he tells her he slept on a park bench, but seeing his mom, crying and looking all betrayed was worse. His dad disowned him, but Pru can rest easy because he hasn’t given up her name. Pru is touched that he’s protecting her at these costs. She’s taken aback when he tells her his dad thinks he’s having an affair with Val. He explains it’s because she came to the shop to tell him off, which ticks Pru off because she and Val agreed Val would stay out of it. Tomás thinks it’s better this way because his parents don’t suspect her. If she wants to talk to him she’ll have to come to church every day because his parents confiscated his phone. Pru will be the most devoted church goer in SL. (Someone has more in common with Roberta than she thinks…)

Cande has invited Val to dinner to tell her that their plan is working! Cris broke it off with Aldonza and tonight they’ll have the mass to make it official and public. They squee over their malevolence before Pru joins them.

Lost Love #4: It’s Your Own Darn Fault! Cris asks Lola where Eman is. He needs to know if he’s going to help him with the horse situation. Lola doesn’t know and since E lost his phone, there’s no way of finding him. He said he was going to San Miguel to sign up for a horse competition, but instead he went to…do other stuff. Cris thinks that maybe he’s gone back to San Miguel then? Lola doesn’t know and doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.

Lost Love #5: She gets that he’s not into her Renato and Silvia are out having some wine. Renato apologizes for acting the fool. Silvia also apologizes because she thinks she didn’t handle the Aldonza situation well. She just wants him to be happy and if he thinks Aldonza will make him so, then she’ll do what she can to facilitate their relationship. (Sigh. If Ren fires her again, can Silvia teach classes on being a grown up?)

Sev is nervously slinking back into S/V’s house when who should see him but Aldonza (who is out wandering the streets at night because…?). She asks if he misses his lover. No, he was just turning the house back over to the owner, but he’s not at home and…this is none of her business anyway! Aldonza follows his shifty eyes and notes that he’s trembling. What’s wrong with the big Sev the Dev, huh? Is he scared? Aldi tells him it’s one thing for her to accept that Cris is her brother and something very different to forgive what he did to her. He better forget his plans to get El Santuario because it will never be his. Sev says maybe El Santuario won’t…but she will! He grabs her by the neck and shoves her into the house! He told her not to provoke him, Sev reminds Aldi as he shoves her up against a wall and kisses her chin. He squeezes her neck and she struggles ineffectually against him.  Sev slides down her body onto his knees. He lets go of her neck and clutches her hips. Aldi gasps and wheezes as Sev begins to scream and moan. He falls to his side on the floor, grabbing at his missing arm and writhing in pain. Aldonza stands panting, frozen in fear, before she finally begins inching her way along the wall away from Severiano.

Melesio has something to confess to Dominga. Oh no, she cries, is he having an affair?! Of course not! He confesses that he was the one that helped Cris sneak out to see Aldonza today. Well, Dom has her own confession. Mel asks if she’s pregnant. No, of course not! But she let PJ into Sev’s study to get a paper to help prove Al and Cris aren’t siblings. He must not have found it because he hasn’t said anything else about it. Mel thinks they should accept it and just worry about helping Al and Cris get through this. (Thank God for Dom and Mel in this light scene. They have me smiling affectionately instead of gagging over Sev and Aldi).

The next day, Cande visits PJ to tell him she’s got her people ready for the mass. Hum still doesn’t believe the sibling thing, but whatever. PJ’s announced the special mass and hopes a lot of people come out for it. Cande’s so happy they’re doing this; she thought their families would be enemies forever! After the mass, they’ll have a reception at the ranch for the whole town. She lingers before leaving, hesitantly leaning towards PJ. She turns to leave, but before she goes PJ gives her the Candy House! The Candy House is with Cande and on the move again!

Hum checks Cris out. He’s doing well, but he shouldn’t push it. He has to use a cane, do physical therapy exercises and take medication. Cris asks if he can go to the special mass and Hum clears it.

Pru and Val are getting ready for the mass in Val’s room. Val’s still pissed at Hum, but Pru wants her to smile for the cameras because she won’t give the gossips the satisfaction of running their family through the rumor mill. Val thinks they wouldn’t believe all that happens in their house anyway. How can her mom even go to church with such a dirty conscience? Pru says she went to confession and anyway, she’s not a batterer like Hum. Val thinks Hum’s pissed with them because they kicked Eman out of the house. Pru says it’s not just that, Hum’s been especially upset since Val’s night with Cris, which she uses to point out that she’s not the only one sneaking boys home (wow…she’s delusional). Val reminds her that it’s so NOT the same thing because Val’s not MARRIED. Besides she was trying to save Cris from Aldonza (so delusion runs in the family). Pru tells her to drop it. Val thinks Hum will kill her when he finds out she’s pregnant. Pru says if he hits Val again, it’ll have to be over her dead body!

Lost Love #:…A Lost Love Found? Joaquin goes to see Adelina. Camilo tells him Adelina went to see PJ, but Lola, just leaving for work, says Ade’s in the house. Camilo’s all “no, Adelina’s not home, re-mem-ber?” Lola between Camilo and Joaquin and mumbles that she screwed it up, huh. Sigh. Yes, Lola Big Mouth Otero, you did. But it’s ok, someone needs to stop Ade’s hiding out. Lola takes Joaquin in to a startled Adelina then flees the scene of the crime. Joaquin wants to know what’s up with Adelina avoiding him. Obviously, it’s about Flavia. What if she comes back? Well, Joaquin says, she’ll be on her own. She may be the mother of his child, but they’ll never be a couple again. And Falvia can’t blame Ade for that because she’s the one that decided it. Adelina says she doesn’t know what she wants. Well, Joaquin does: he wants her. He lays a huge kiss on her! Whew! I need a fan for this scene!

Adriano demands to know why Flavia took so long to get back and she confronts him about being a murderer. Adriano says it was an accident. Flavia’s ready to bail, but Adriano hugs her and asks her to stay with him.

Lost Love #6: It’s Your Own Darn Fault, Part #2 Mari remembers Emmanuel’s drunken screamfest and cries into her pillow.

Irma’s worried about Mari. She won’t leave her room. Irma asks Lola to talk to her. They’ll understand each other because they’re both going through the same thing.

Cande remembers PJ giving her the Candy House. She hides it in her wardrobe when Sev comes to get her so they can leave for the mass. When he leave her room, she pulls it back out and says PJ’s a sweet man. Meanwhile, Sev goes to get Cris, but he’s not ready yet. His leg is slowing him down. Cris tells them to go ahead; he’ll have Mel take him afterwards.

Aldonza remembers Sev’s latest rape attempt. She touches her neck gently. Adelina hugs her and tells her not to think about it. Aldi doesn’t know if she can face Cris at the mass because she still can’t think of him as her brother. Adelina says time heals all. She strokes Aldi’s hair to comfort her and, unlike with Cris and Cande, Aldi takes comfort in her touch.

At the church, Tomás tries to wave at his parents. They ignore him. He tries to wave subtly at Pru as well. She wiggles her fingers back and Val glares at them both. Lulu starts passing out sheets of paper starting at the back of the church as PJ begins the mass. Cande’s worried because Cris isn’t here yet, but Sev tells her to calm down. Mel’s bringing him and he’ll be there soon.

Enh! Wrong! Mel has taken Cris to the bus station. We don’t know where he’s going, but he’s getting out of Dodge. As we watch him leave, PJ’s voice tells us and the whole congregation that everyone’s heard that Al and Cris are blood siblings, but he would like to take this opportunity to say this is not true! Cut back at the church, where it turns out that the sheet Lulu’s been passing out has the results of a scientific test that proves this! Val stands up, shocked, then promptly passes out. Aldonza clutches the paper, also shocked. Sev stands and declares that PJ is lying!

Gracias, HellaShelle! I liked the theme. It felt like a mopey, slow episode. I kept thinking "Get to the mass already!" and now I know why they dragged that out. Score one for Padre J! More in a minute...got to update the adventures of the Candy House!

Where has the Candy House been?

Mystery Man (the original maker? purchaser?) puts the ring and a letter inside and gives it to...
Marga, but we don't know if she ever found the ring and/or letter. She gave it to...
Lola, so that Lola would be able to give Em something way better than Mari's stinky chocolates. She gave it to...
Emmanuel, who made the mistake of stashing it in his closet, where...
Pru got her hands on it, claiming it in the name of having to put up with Em in her house. But once everyone started looking for it, she took it over to...
Tomas, who was supposed to hide it, but instead put it up on Ebay. He hid it in his closet and when...
His mom came in to clean, she took it and gave it to...
The church for the raffle/fundraiser where...
Silvia and Renato jointly won it. But then Renato started acting all un-lawyerly, so Silvia gave it to...
Ray and Joaquin, where it might have stayed, had they not left it in the park after Ray fell, where...
Irma and Uriel found it and took it home, intending to have Padre J help them track down the real owner, except that...
Mari deputized herself to take it to Padre J, with a brief stop to torture Lola along the way, and dropped it off on…
Padre J's desk without any explanation, where he assumed that Candela had given it to him, so he gave it back to…
Cande and for whatever reason, she accepted it and took it home as, as Padre J put it, "a symbol of the love between their families."

Muchas gracias, hellashelle! I'm coming back to read the long of it, but the short of it keeps me up to speed as well.

I watched it last night... But it's almost like I have no memory of it.

I don't know why, but the Candy House being in Cande's possession makes me very nervous.

Sara, "I watched it last night... But it's almost like I have no memory of it." Agreed. The recap was better. It felt like a lot of stalling to just to have the big moment end up at the very end of the episode. I mean, great for me when I recap tonight, but I wish when they'd do stuff like this, they'd give us some stalling that doesn't feel like stalling.

Hellashelle, thank you for the great recap. Your telling was much better than the writers that being paid to write a decent script.

So the Candy House is on the move again, it sees more action than anyone else in SL.

Rosemary Primera

Thanks Kat!

The Candy House is now the Cande House (I can't have been the only one wanting for that).

Looks like the cliche of Eman winning did come about. I'm glad he won't have to sell his blood for money at least. I guess Cris is on his way to San Miguel to look for him? Is that actually where E is? Maybe Cris'll see Adriano and call the cops! If F and A are even still in San Miguel.

This was a weirdly edited episode. It was all about the mass with these little one off scenes so that the other plots could progress (Eman, Mari, Irma, Flavia and Adriano).

Omg, Cande was so caught up in PJ right now. I wonder if she'll crash tomorrow like she did the day after sleeping with Sev.

Does this mean that PJ did forget the note? Or that he tested himself against Aldi, as others have suggested? So intrigued to know how he did this.

I was somewhat surprised that Adriano gave a crap about Flavia and wanted her to stay with him. I guess she's got what he needs, too!

I'd like to see a bros reunion. They can go off and do something together, away from Santa Lucia. I hope Cris had the sense to grab some cash or open an account in his own name at a bank other than the one Uriel runs. He's smarter than to use his parents' credit card, right...?

I wonder what Padre Sixto would think of Padre J's move last night? He did a veiled "GOD KNOWS WHAT YOU DID!" sermon, but Padre J...well, I'm not sure what he did exactly, but there is no veil going on there!

HellaShelle, this was full to the brim of rich, intoxicating lines: "Ren and Silvia don’t kiss, but they do make up", "Aldonza prompts her husb…bro…Cris to talk" and "thus was born a dark bargain, in the hand of an angel, in the house of God. They squee over their malevolence" were a few of my many favorites.

Had cable issues last night (torrential rain and tornado warnings) but it looks like I really missed a pivotal episode. Must watch it today.

I love how Cande fell for the padre's line hook and sinker. Whatever he did, I'm thrilled he pulled it off. What a man.

Glad Sev's phantom pain appeared at the right time or heaven only knows what he would have done to Aldonza. Again.

Thanks for the Candy House update Kat!

Diana

Lordy, Hellashelle this is great.

"It’s like a fun mirror version of Cris and Al"

"They squee over their malevolence"

"What’s wrong with the big Sev the Dev, huh?"

Mr. tofie don't know it but he's a very lucky man PJ is a fictional character and I can't get at em. When Val went down I even broke out a cheerleader routine move, not visited in over 30 years, my left hamstring reminds me.

Oops! Missed Sara Rosemary and now Diana - Thanks guys!

Yes, Diana, I was thinking S/V had become a guardian angel...of pain. Just let Sev try to hurt Lola - that pain will topple him!

Diva - I don't know what Padres Sixto would think. PJ didn't say Sev and Cande lied, but since Sev stood up and said PJ lied, I can't wait to see what happens tonight!

Sara and Diva - Yes, I even had a hard time with the recap. I fell asleep writing it then woke up and rewatched the episode and kept saying "oh yeah! that happened too!"

Lol, tofie...cheerleader move! I feel like a slacker. All I did was cackle maliciously :D

Diana--glad you didn't wash away!

All PJ would have to do is establish he is Aldonza's uncle

Thanks so much, hellashelle, for an excellent and detailed recap.

When I saw Al sidle up to Sev the Dev (hehe..so good) in that dark street , I could not believe it. This girl just keeps playing with the fire that is Severed. ( As I read your recap, I was listening to "Fire" by Arthur Brown..so appropo). The phantom pain must be Dios smiting a guy who needs some smiting, no ?

And talk about proactive..go, padre, go!!! He even had Lulu pass out papers.I am surprised that he did not do a power point presentation...I hate those.

So..have we decided that Don Tony is a good guy ?

Who ends with the Candy house?...My bet is on E .

And..hey...Bravo , Joaquin...way to be proactive...and that was a pretty good

..kiss.

I'm laughing at your falling asleep while recapping, hellashelle!

And I was never so happy for phantom pain. When Sev dragged Aldonza into the house I was so mad. I thought to myself "Aw hell naw. Am I going to have to quit in disgust?"

Susanlynn, for me, I don't think I'm ever going to trust Don Antonio until we get to the end of the show and he hasn't done anything dastardly. I can't help it!

Sara, I don't know what was worse. Sev pulling her into the house, or her being "saved" by his pain. That was just too convenient. That can't be the thing that stops him from now on. Or maybe it has to always be the thing that stops him from now on, like he can't hurt her without hurting himself worse. I don't know. It bordered on cheesy.

Saved by the phantom pain is stupid. Not that I wanted her harmed again but she was about choked out and rape would have been the least of her problem. He choked Padre Sixto and Simoneta to death. Was pretty easy work for him to take her off the street and seconds from losing consciousness. Did she somehow think her own father wouldn't and that gave her a false sense of security.

I'm also withholding judgement on Don Antonio until I have more concrete actions.

I thought Phanton Pain was equally parts the souls of his victims and Sev's almost broken, almost nonexistent conscience roaring back to full force ever since he killed S/V. I hope it keeps popping up during non-physical abuse scenes too. Like if he tries to have E arrested.

Joaquin had me last night. He didn't exactly dive into the kiss roughly, not like Cris at his engagement party. It was firm and direct, but not quite unyielding. Adelina certainly wasn't fighting against it.

When I said The Candy House is now the Cande House (I can't have been the only one wanting for that). I meant WAITING, not wanting.

Lol...no, HellaShelle, I didn't really want it, but yeah, it seemed like too good a pun to pass up. Of course she'd have to get her hands on it! I wonder who's next...will Sev steal it? Will she give it to Dominga so he doesn't find it?

tofie, I had that impression too, that he'd moved past rape and was ready to just kill her and be done with it.

Hi, Hellashelle, you've gone and done it again! Loved this whole thing.

The whole episode was like shaking a bottle of warm champagne until, at the end, the cork popped off of its own accord.

I would like it if Sev's phantom pain was somehow brought on by aggressive thoughts in his mind.

PJ to the rescue! I think he should think about hanging up the chasuble and the Roman collar, and swagger around town wearing one of John Wayne's old cavalry uniforms, with a saber and a six shooter.

Got a house full of grandkids. May be able to stop in later, but thanks so much for this Hellashelle!

David

David, I'm going to have that mental image of PJ in my head now. And that's not a bad thing. Not at all. :D

Thank you Helleashelle, terrific job. Wow, what an episode. The good guys get one, yay!

My favorite part was when the DNA results were passed out to everyone, lol. i didn't expect that one. I figured there would be a lot of back and forth about it not being true, now we don't have to go through that.

I hope that the firing of Melesio will get put on the back burner now with that bombshell exploding.

When my husband saw Joaquin with the suspenders the other day, he asked "who's the gay caballero?"

First Hellashell, thank you for an awesome recap, which was better than the episode in my opinion!

Now, I'm gonna go back to the 1990's and say "woot woot" that's how it's done Padre J! It's been a while since I've gotten so much satisfaction from a novela (the last was AB when Daniel beats the icky uncle, ah I want to run away with Padre Jeronimo!

Gay caballero? I wish! We haven't had any good LGBT characters in a while who weren't being played for laughs. Yet another instance of non-realism, like the snotty attitudes about women who dare to like sex and nobody ever Googling anything.

5Ft, he just saw the tall, thin, good looking man with the suspenders, boots, and the hat, and in his mind he was a gay man dressed up as a 'cowboy'. I actually lol'd at that comment he made because I looked at him the way my husband saw him (he doesn't know the story) and agreed he could pass as a gay caballero.

I also lol'd about the candy house on the move again. Maybe she'll give it to Cris, I don't think he knows about the house yet.

Sending thanks out to DAvid, Cathyx and Eli!

Cathyx - me too! I relaly liked that touch (of passing out the results) as well. I'm not sure how the town will take it, especially is the town priest had to steal papers and forge signatures to get it. Hopefully, Hum will back him up, especially since he still pissed about Sev "taking back" El Santuario. Or maybe he'll take up David's idea and there'll be a new sheriff in town!

I forgot about Mel! Ooh, yeah, Sev's not going to be in a good mood when he gets back so I don't see that revelation going over well. With Eman out riding, maybe Mel will hold down the fort at the finca?

I almost wish Mel would just lie and say he has no idea where Cris is. That he was waiting to drive him to the church, but Cris never came down and when he went to check on him he was gone.

Yeah, that doesn't sound believable what with the leg. Damn. Well, I guess Aldonza can hire Mel to do something.

I keep hoping the phantom pain is a precursor to a heart attack.

Cande is going to be madder than a wet hen when she realizes PJ played her. Oh, what fun. I guess it also means the Candy House will be on the move again.

Rosemary Primera

Great work, Hellashelle!

I love how Padre Jeronimo got proactive about this. Someone has to stand up to the devil and who better than the local man of God? Of course there will be major fallout for this.

Aldonza could definitely hire Melesio for something if it comes to that. And Dominga, too.

Are you thinking church-wise or just in the town, Urban? I will admit, I wondered if this is the kind of thing that could get Padre J in trouble with his earthly bosses.

Apropos of nothing: I can't get the image of Lulu passing around all those DNA results. At first I thought it was a copy of a special prayer or hymn. NOPE!

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't see how it wouldn't, as it involves committing a crime that people get arrested and go to prison for. Of course, that hits a whole new level of scandal and we know that Satanic Sev would love to drag the padre's name through the mud.

Insane day at work and had to finally take a late break and catch up. Thanks for this fun recap Hellashelle. Boy I needed some laughs and after being half asleep last night, to get the details on a few things. (We had those storms go through that sounded like a war zone at 3:30 - 6:30 am yesterday. )

And the Cande house, now goes to Cande. Now, she is going to be one pissed off lady tonight knowing she got played by the Padre. Hate to say it, but my first thought was she will take that house and smash it to smithereens.

I will not try to get angry over this, but Sev almost chokes the living daylights out of Allie. That kind of choke hold would show marks I believe and affected her air intake. David correct me if I'm wrong, but if she had taken herself straight to the clinic, that would have shown correct? And it sounded like she may have told Ade. or did I get that wrong? Because if Ade's "try not to think about it" sort of attitude was about that, and she didn't tell Padre or anyone else,....ok, I"m getting worked up again.

Have to say, I feel a bit like a yo-yo that we keep having this on and off again with Cris and Allie. Val fainting gave me a bad vibe though, we still have her to deal with. Too many episodes to go, and all that set up to move Allie over to Ren...something has to happen AGAIN.

Yeah, E-man, but I vote to put Lola and Mari in a closet somewhere so we don't have to see their pouty faces for awhile. Only good thing with Lola, at least she got Joaquin in the house. Ooooo...feeling the heat from that smooch again. Woo.

Daisynjay

I'm really curious to hear more details tonight about what test got run, who got tested, and whether the Padre had to compromise his morals or not.

Poor Cris. Think about what he will have to come to terms with with regards to his parents.

1. They lied about Aldonza and him being siblings.
2. Cande stole the sample and switched it in order for the results to come back positive.
3. Emanuel is his brother and his parents not only knew it, but kept it secret and treated him like a lowlife.
4. His father raped his wife.
5. His father killed the padre and his lover who was expecting his child.
6. His father had his employee burn down Aldonza's apartment.
7. His father hired a hitman to kill his employee. And his father knew this while Cris was in jail for the crime.
8. His father tried to kill Padre Jeronimo
I know I'm leaving more out, help me out.

I say each murder gets its own line. And the respective coverups, as well. One of which involved blackmailing Humberto, which is a separate thing, to me. Then there's the coverup of Raymundo's murder. And I'd add the continuing intimidation/threats/assaults of Aldonza.

Thank you Hellashelle! You are so right that this whole episode was a set up for that great ending. I love Padre J and knew he would not fail us. He is the ambassador for Viewerville. I'm laughing with glee thinking about how he played Candy. He totally played on her feelings for him. Ha! The Candy House is in danger for sure.

Very happy to have the DNA saga done and over. Thank you, writers. Now we have to deal with the false baby mama drama.

Happy for Eman. It was the confidence booster he needed and Antonio looks like he'll be a good mentor.

Sever was definitely looking to kill Aldonza. He wasn't playing around. Good thing he didn't get the chance, since I don't think there's another human sized chest in the house, and those movers might start to get suspicious.

Sara, I loved Lulu passing out the DNA tests results, that was gold!

"Good thing he didn't get the chance, since I don't think there's another human sized chest in the house, and those movers might start to get suspicious." Vivi, I had the horrible thought that they might give him a repeat-customer discount.

Bad Kat!

Eli - I think I just love Lulu. I'm glad Kat pointed it out.

Sev burned down the melon patch.

Rosemary Primera

That was HellaShelle.

Uh, who pointed out Lulu, not burned down the melon patch!

To the list of Sev's crimes we also add:

11. The burning of crops at El Santuario (multiple times, I think)
12. Accessory after the fact to the murder of Raimundo
13. Additional count of blackmail of Humberto to force the deliberate botching of Roberta's delivery of Emanuel
14. Multiple counts of corruption we don't have the details on

I'm so sorry, hellashelle! Many thanks for pointing out Lulu.

Hellashelle- girl the recap was better than the show. Thank you for brakin it down.

What better place for the truth to come out than the house of God, by a man of God. Iam love love love-ing this. I told yall when a man of God says be patient, somethings commin. They were so cocky in their deception, and their evil plans and schemes.(sev&cande).

Sittin in up in church lookin saintly, the rapist and the liar. Vile val passing, why? cuz she's going to have to come up with a father for that baby cuz It ain't Chris. Now thats a DNA test that I'd like to have a front seat to.

But you what, with her passing out like that some might start to think "why would she pass out from that news"? Yes pregnant women pass out, but at this moment, shes got something to loose big time.

How cande can see the hurt in her child's eyes and not care. She can put an end to it. She 'd rather see him with someone he doesn't love, than be happy with ally, yeah she hates roberta, but thats not ally. and it's not like she has to see them every day because thejy can live somewhere else. besides she can come and visit them, If she wants, or not.
Tonights gonna be juicy.

I only remember Sev burning the fields the one time.

Can we count planning to divert the water, or would it only count if he'd done it?

But Cris, we only did it because we love you and want you to be happy.

Man, Cris is gonna be so angry when he finds out what his parents did!

La Diva- I'm glad there was no veil there. These liars don't seem to care about the hurt and destruction their lies cause, not even to someone they claim to love. When so much crap fills up to the brim and its covered theres an explosion, this is the perfect place for this type of explosion. Yeah!!!!!!! This Is good. You go PADRE J!!!!!!!
I Wonder what his life will be like after this.
The look on Aldonza's face was priceless.

If Cris doesn't move out of that house now, I give up. Of course, I should probably not say anything, because we still have the impending baby drama and that could rope him into Hum's place? Good lord child, get your own apartment!!

I think Lulu needs a pink bow ending! Right now, I think I'd rather see her as the big wedding finish with one of those mystery dudes of hers than the current couples. Make it so SuperPadre!

Daisynjay

Well, Cris is gone for now, and who knows where he went. I wonder if he even told Mel or just took off. And whether he was intending to leave permanently or going to look for Emmanuel or going to an actual spiritual retreat (unlike Pru) or what.

I was glad to see both Al and Cris concerned about Eman, despite their personal drama, and making moves to find him or at least find out that he's ok. We give them a hard time about being good friends, but they were showing more concern and worry for Eman than anyone else, and they had just found out they were siblings.

Sev was going to kill El Solitario. Can we add that to the list?

Vivi-yeah, good on pointing out that Aldi and Cris are thinking of others even though they're going through the ringer themselves. I was/am really hoping to hear Lola say something along the lines of "if only I had listened to him." Ugh! So sick of her and Mari right now.

I've been a little concerned with the way PJ isn't concerned with the law/rules, but the way everyone just uses the church as a hook up spot, it's no wonder he's gone cowboy!

BTW, still smiling over Dom and Mel. They're adorable. I love that Mel asked if Dom was preggers. Now there are two people who know how to keep a fire lit!

Ooh, I forgot about Solitario's death sentence! I vote it counts, since he did give the order, and it would have been carried out if Em hadn't freed him.

I totally say it counts! Solitario is better to Em than a lot of the humans on this show.

The wrath of Cande and Sev if they find out Mel took Cris to the bus and knew he was leaving. Won't be pretty.

And with all this with testing on DNA working, should be front forward in Cris mind to make that happen when Val tries to pull her crap on Cris being the baby-daddy. Sure Padre has his process and connections. The man knows all!

Daisynjay

I'm going to take a stand here and say that if DNA testing and an attempt to fake results has already happened once and been thwarted, and Val actually tries to pull that crap, she deserves to be found out and publicly humiliated.

Although, if after all that, she does try it and Cris DOESN'T ask for a DNA test, then he deserves to be stuck with Val.

Severiano told PJ he was not the father during the confession all PJ would have to do is prove he is related to Aldonza. If he is no way Severiano is the father of Aldonza. Testing himself and Aldonza would not break his vow nor would he have to break the law.

It has been obvious to me for a long time that neither of the Mendozas cares about Cristobal's feelings in the least. At times they even seem delusional about them, as though Cris were a child who doesn't understand the world. But that's how it is with narcissists for whom nothing exists except their own version of anything.

I'm with you Diva. It should be a slam dunk right in her face if and when she tries to accuse him.

But how many episodes are left? Do we need some sort of angsty plot line to keep them apart for a while still? That may dictate how it all plays out.

Daisynjay

This story has 137 episodes, so there are 46 more to go.

Thanks UA-- guess we need more angst.

Daisynjay

"Although, if after all that, she does try it and Cris DOESN'T ask for a DNA test, then he deserves to be stuck with Val."

Val keeps insisting she's a "good" girl. So far the only people who know she's not are Abelardo(dead), her mother(has her own secret) and Mari(probably afraid of Val). So Cris probably won't ask for a DNA test. He assumes he has actually slept with her after all.

But I'm not sure what's happening because with the truth coming out about their not being siblings, I don't see how Val can get him to give up Aldonza and marry her. Meh. It keeps the story going. It's going to be frustrating if we are subjected to the "I can't leave my baby without a father" crap.

Another old fashioned meme that TNs stick with: If someone gets pregnant, the man always marries her to make her honest and the kids legitimate.

Real life, if Val convinces Cris she's pregnant with his kid, he tells her he will pay support and be part of the baby's life but will continue his relationship with Aldonza.

But we could have Aldonza go poutty and tell Cris a child needs it's father and go marry Val and man up

Oh holy crap, the prota telling the galan to go be with the pregnant ho is the TN trope I hate the most.

And Aldonza probably will. She's a runner and looks for any excuse to get out of being with Cris.

If she does it, she'll say it's because she grew up without a dad, etc., etc., etc.

Idiot above it telling the ending. I haven't tead past the first few words, but it needs to go.

Working on it cathyx! So sorry.

You guys are so right about Aldonza. She would use any excuse to get out of being married to Cris.

I'm just glad I didn't read it before I realized what it was. Stupid spoilers.

Crap! Sorry. I walked away for 2 seconds!

I've emailed Kat. I'm sure she will delete it as soon as she can.

Seriously, are the rules that difficult to understand? *sigh*

They know the rules, they do it on purpose because they are idiots who want to spoil things for the 'fun' of it.

That's a pretty twisted idea of "fun" IMO. Whatever. I have a delete button and I'm not afraid to use it.

Thank you for taking care of that Diva. And thank you for your vigilance and your willingness to use the delete button.

I hope no one else read it. We are so close to the end, that to now know what will happen is just plain sad.

Assuming they were even telling the truth. I have a hard time forgetting things once I've read them, but maybe if I get a song stuck in my head instead, that will help :D

I hate it for hellashelle. It's not fair to ruin the conversation on HER recap. :-(

It's too bad that the TNs don't run at the same time in all the countries.

No. It's too bad people are jerks. It's all on them.

Next utterly apropos of nothing comment: While I was watching Padre J with his mic, I had the thought "so what did they do pre microphones. Was everyone just really quiet? LOL.

They had to do a better job of projecting their voices, plus churches had great acoustics! He shouldn't need a mic in that one, with good vocal technique.

Old churches were built with sound resonance in mind, and sounds from the pulpit would carry throughout the church. If the priest farted, everyone would hear it.

Lol...that probably still happens :D I much prefer doing performances without a mic. Every mic-ed show I've ever done, there is at least 1 "whoops, forgot to turn off the mic" incident.

You're being too kind, they are not jerks they are just plain d*cks, a pox on their houses, a pox!

HAHAHAHA! You're hilarious, Eli!

It's true! And omg, your hamster in a sombrero is life! Have you seen tiny hamsters eating tiny food?

Yes and it's so darling!!

My avatar is me "dressing up" for the party on tonight's episode of Amores con trampa.

Ah, is that the new one with Yanez? Is it any good? Keep that avatar it's adorable!

It's complete silliness with some mysteries mixed in. I like it. Which means it might be bad. I'm easily entertained. Lo Imperdonable is starting to win out on the US and Mexican ratings.

Lo Imperdonable might turn out to be a hot mess-but I'll stick it out cause Ivan Sanchez is hot. My standards are low.
