Give me back my nana! La sombra del Pasado #95 06/29/2015

Bullet points today, cause I overslept this morning :/

  • Sev drops all the charges against Padre J, before leaving the station and in front of the police officers he says "that priest better not think this is the end of this"- and storms out of the police station, Nava is all like "dude you can't say things like that in front of the popo" and Sevs all like "I don't care!"
  • We get a replay of Adriano getting shot, the creepy thing is that his "blood" is the same shade as my favorite lipstick.
  • Aldi and Padre J walk out to find half the town waiting outside of the police station, they are all chanting that they love Padre Jeronimo, and they even brought signs! Sadly, no one bothered to use glitter. Boo.
  • Padre J tells Aldi that Sev dropped all the charges and they wonder why, cause it's not like Sev has a heart or anything, they both agree to worry about the Sev problem later.
  • Back at Las Animas Cris is busy pouting because Mel and Dom are gone, Candela tells him that Dom made her decision after admitting to bad behavior, but if it will make him feel better she will ask Dom and Mel to come back, Cris tells her she might be out of luck because Aldi has already offered them a job. Candela actually says "that woman is not happy with taking away my son but now she wants my nana too?!" and storms out.
  • Cris and Val talk and she puts on the water work, her parents are so unhappy and they treat each other like doodoo, and she's just so heartbroken!
  • In his clinic Humberto overshares with his assistant, his wife and daughter don't respect him, Val is a snot, sure, he loves her but he can't get any affection from her. He says that the only person in his house that he was close with was E-man and now he's gone and he has no idea where he went. Humberto cries, someone hand me a tissue.
  • E-man  has a flash back to when he got knocked out by Abelardo, although he was unconscious he heard everything Humberto had to say-could E-man be thinking that Humberto is his dad?
  • Tomas forces his way into Pru's home and they have a make out sessions-he leaves just as Humberto is coming home!
  • Mari goes to visit Pato, they go out for coffee and she starts to tell him about how awful Lola is-she even slapped her! She looks way unhappy when Pato tells her he is still seeing Lola, Mari tries to throw more dirt on Lola's name by telling Pato that Lola is jealous of her because of she has parents (that's a crummy thing to say!) and because of her social status...before she can continue Pato tells her to stop, he does not want to be in the middle of anything and end up looking like the bad guy.
  • Lola sees them together and disturbs the coffee date by knocking on the restaurants window and then running away.
  • Sev comes home and goes off on the workers for not getting things done on time, one of the workers tells him that Mel and E-man are gone and they were the ones who knew how to do the work, Sev tells the worker that neither Mel or E-man are coming back so he better get it together! Once Sev leaves the worker tells El Mudo that he's not happy working at Las Animas anymore- if they fired Mel and Dom after years of service what can they expect?
  • Cande runs into Sev as she's leaving the house, she tells him that she's going to ask Dom to come back, he's all like "no way Jose!" and Cande reminds him of two very important things:
1. Dominga was at Las Animas way before he was.
2. Candela actually cares about Dominga-which is more than can be said about Sev.

  • Sevs bad day gets worse when Nava comes in with the news that Adriano was detained by the police, Sev sends Nava out to get more information- it is not in their best interest for Adriano to wake up and start talking.
  • Candela arrives at Aldi's house and asks to speak to Dom and Mel- but it turns out that the older couple have had it with Cende and Sev and they refuse to talk to her. Cande tells Aldi that she will never be able to offer them the same salary and benefits that they are used to and Aldi tells her that remains to be seen, she will get her crops to flourish and everything will be fine.
  • Cande reminds Aldi that her lease will be up in a year and that Humberto will kick her out and then they will all end up on the street, let's see how much pride they all have when hunger comes knocking on their door.
  • Cande bumps into Lola and they have a mini-showdown.
  • Dom and Mel feel bad but Lola tells them not to, they gave their whole lives to Cande and Las Animas and their hard work was a huge reason behind the success of the hacienda.
  • Joaquin tells Ade that he feels bad about E-man, Ade tells him E-man made mistakes but Joaquin is not so sure about that, they took Mari's word at face value and never allowed E-man to give his side of the story-he misses E-man at home (awww) and at work, then he gets the phone call that his wife has been found and if being questioned by the police.
  • Sev wants Cris to give him some credit for the release of Padre J but Cris shuts him down by telling him that he (Sev) only agreed to drop charges after Cande pressured him and tells Sev not to take credit for other peoples good deeds, Sev leaves.
  • Mel and Dom are upset about not going back to Las Animas, they spent so much of their lives there. Lola tells them to cheer up, now they are all together again and while things might be hard at first everything will get better.
  • Mel and Dom cry, I wanna cry. They miss Cande and their home even if they got poor treatment. I love these two.
  • Val goes to say good night to Sev in her skimpy pjs...things get creepy.
  • Joaquin pays the bail for Flavia- he should have left her in there for the full 48 hours- I'm not very nice. Oh and Flavia can't leave town.
  • Val gives Cris a brand new phone.
  • Aldi is at home looking for the death certificates of her father and sister-se wont find them because we all know that Adelina set fire to Ray's paperwork. Aldi also tells her that she needs to go back to Mexico to finish dealing with the paperwork surrousnding the apartment and paying off the people whose apartments suffered damage, her phone rings and it's Cris calling. He tells her he has a new cell and they talk about wanting to get married ASAP, meanwhile Val is outside his door listening in on his conversation.
  • Aldi asks Cris about Val living at Las Animas and Cris tells her that it's true, he meant to tell her sooner but was unable to because he was in his room all day due to his leg pain, just then Val let's herself into his room and Aldi hears her and wants to know why she's in his room so late at night.
I predict break up number 756.

PS: the U-videos has the episode discription that reads "Candela tells Severiano that she has more affection for Candela than she could ever have for him"- it made LOL

Wow that's a lot of bullet points, thank you Eli. Thorough enough for me.

Another plus for Adriano. His blood is PINK! Look at the van behind him when he gets shot. Is that the color of your lipstick, lol?

I'm with you on the Val slinking into Sev's room in her nighty. She knows perfectly well what she's doing and she's playing with fire. And to think he could have been her father in law. Yuck.

And yep, another Aldonza/Cris breakup. Yawn.

Thanks Eli. Great recap. Perfect length.

Gracias, Eli.

I agree; Valeria knows what she's doing. She couldn't have missed how Sev is grooming her to be his next booty call. It would not surprise me if he has some delusion that Cristobal is just like himself.

Here's hoping that Pato will start seeing Mari for what she really is.

Eli--THANK YOU! Heckuva great recap, much appreciated!
Re: Univision theatrical blood, yes it had a def magenta vibe going on. I believe actual blood is more scarlet (a warm rather than a cool red). Maybe Max Factor will come out with a shade called "Felon's Blood" or some such.

E-Man has more kind feelings for Humberto than either Humberto's wife or daughter. Maybe those two could end up batching it together.

Must run back to work--thanks again Eli!

J in Oregon

Whoo hoo! What a recap! Great recap -- Thanks Eli!

I like the way Cris handled his dad - cool and unswayed. But honestly, enough of the pouting. You miss Dom and Mel? GO TO YOUR WIFE'S HOUSE. Ugh!

I want to like Lola and, in flashes, I do. But when she ignores the fact that her grandparents don't want to talk about this very painful thing that has nothing to do with her and she knocks on a window and runs away like an 8 year old pranking someone, I just roll my eyes and want to FF.

Yay Pato! UA I'll drink to him with you!

OMG, Val and Sev! ITA with everyone above who says EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! She totally knows what she's doing. So disturbing. And he seems oddly transfixed; I thought he's be all large and in charge as always, trying to seduce her. Anyway: yuck, yuck, yuck.

Cande - enough already! And did Aldonza put sugar in your salt and make your slippers cold too?! Aldi should've said she can offer them dignity and respect (although if the way she deals with her own aunt, friend and husband is any indicator, maybe she knows she has some trouble there too).

Joaq is such a good man! And Ade had little to no sympathy for Eman! Her comment about them missing him in the cantina makes me wonder if all he sees in Eman is Sev's DNA and Rob's vices, not the actual boy-man crying out for love.

Must run. Thanks again Eli!

Thanks, Eli. I like your observations and snarky little asides.

I don't know who is more disgusting, Sev or Val.

I would have thought when she barged into Cris's room while he was talking to Aldonza, she would have said loud enough for Aldonza to hear that she couldn't find some intimate clothing, and could she have possibly left them in Cris's room earlier?

I thought when Sev was at the police station and was being asked to sign the complaint, he looked like, "If I sign it, who will cut my steak tonight."

Thanks again, Eli.

David

Thanks, Eli. Wow..those were very detailed bullet points ! I am on vacation and was not able to watch this episode, so I appreciated your retelling the tale. I loved the title.

Vile has no idea that she is playing with the devil. She is just trying to bolster her esteem by dazzling an older dude since joven Cris is completely uninterested.

We still have no clue what Al's money crop will be. I am beginning to think that the writers don't know either.

Whatever that crop is it's a minor detail among all the major secrets, lies, and crimes of Sev, Candela, Vile, etc. I'm sure something bad is going to happen before the year is up.

Gracias, Eli! I'm crying with laughter. You had me at the title.

"Sadly, no one bothered to use glitter. Boo." I share your disappointment. Surely, there must be some at Irma's place? Or at least some glitter ribbon. Something.

"Val goes to say good night to Sev in her skimpy pjs...things get creepy." Word. Sev and Val are definitely in the lead for Grossest Couple in the show, without even being a couple. Sorry, Tomas and Pru. You snooze, you lose.

Thanks Eli, excellent recap!

Too bad no one was worried about Eman when he was going around saying good-bye to everyone. I am looking at you Hum and Joaquin.

Cande reminds him (Sev) of two very important things…
Cande Crush (thanks Hellashelle) strikes again!

Sev the Dev & Val with no values…EWWWWWW!

Eli, great stuff, thank you for the retelling.

For the past week Adelina has been driving me crazy. Maybe she is the one that should hook up with Sev! They are so into manipulating those around them. Now if Sev and Val hook up, maybe they will self-combust and we not have to deal with them any longer.

Rosemary Primera

Yes David, she should have said 'did I leave my panties in here?' when she walked in while Cris was on the phone.

Hi Eli, and thanks to you and ALL the recappers and all those who post comments. I watch a little and read a lot of these posts. You all are funny and insightful and detailed. Thanks.

I love the idea of the chocolate house as a character. It's almost as if a teacher told the writers to make an inanimate object a mysterious, mobile character that elicits love, jealousy hope, etc. Great job by the writers. However, they have made Alonza a flat and shallow character. She doesn't have the life or prefessional experience that Susan Gonzales or Jorge (in that TN with Ana Brenda) have to make a loathsome character sympathetic and understood by the viewers. I agree with the commenters that the writers should have developed the dialogue concerning Ald's mental state after the rape. I get it that she uses every event to undermine the relationship with Cris because of Sev's actions, but as everyone has pointed out the writers are missing a great opportunity to develop this issue.
Thanks again Eli.
Yola

Lol, David and cathyx, don't give her any ideas!

Rosemary Primera, I like your self-combustion suggestion!

PBN, "Sev the Dev & Val with no values" good one!

Susanlynn and Urban Anthropologist, I agree with you both...the writers don't know what the crop is, and they're never going to tell us, either.

HellaShelle, "GO TO YOUR WIFE'S HOUSE" indeed. Everybody else lives there, Cris. Just go!

J in O, "E-Man has more kind feelings for Humberto than either Humberto's wife or daughter." Awwwww, that's sad, but it's so true.

cathyx, "another Aldonza/Cris breakup. Yawn." We should probably tell the wedding guests to save their receipts.

I swear I was expecting a positive pregnancy stick in that box she gave Cris. She needs to work on her mis planes.

Thank you, Eli! I would be writing a more detailed comment, except I had to stop before I got to the second bullet because

1. Best title ever

and

2. dude you can't say things like that in front of the popo" and Sevs all like "I don't care!"

Back in a sec. Either with one longer comment or a whole bunch of little comments that I have to make as I read the recap.

"We get a replay of Adriano getting shot, the creepy thing is that his "blood" is the same shade as my favorite lipstick."

Ok. Ok. I promise I am not going to just comment bomb every 30 seconds, but I couldn't get past the second bullet either.

Eli, this is great and always love your asides. Thank you

"the creepy thing is that his "blood" is the same shade as my favorite lipstick"

"Humberto overshares with his assistant"

Speaking of Humberto's assistant, why hasn't anyone introduce Emanuel to her? She's cute and doesn't have crazy eyes.

Toss up, the bigger child, Cris or Lola. When Cris got the phone it was like he's never had Santa Clause visit and Lola popping the glass and scampers off like kids did in the neighborhood 40 years ago.

I'm sore at Adelina and she did nothing but thump my sore spot when she trash talked Emanuel, again, then she made the snide comment about the bar certainly missing him. It is in her best interest Emanuel stays gone.

Yola, I agree with you. Aldonza is a flat and hollow character.

Cande could take pointers from our girl Val, girl got game.

"Sadly, no one bothered to use glitter. Boo."

These comment bombs are just your fault, really.

And I checked. So glad Diva singled out this line, too.

Hi Emilia...sorry, I missed you up there!

Hi, Yola. So, the candy house is a more compelling character than Aldonza? Well...I have to admit, I'm often more curious about what's going to happen with that house than what Aldonza's going to do!

cathyx, I had the same thought about a pregnancy stick! I thought "Come on, she can't be stupid enough to think that's going to work NOW? What happened to winning him over first?" And then the phone...ugh...I watch too many cop/spy shows. I was wondering if it was bugged.

tofie...Cris or Lola...it's so difficult to choose! Don't make me decide! They're both big children.

Sara--of course. Because, glitter!

Yola - hi! I don't think I know you yet. Nice comments about the Candy House. I am one of those who laments the lack of build time for the A/C love and the lack of character insight on Aldonza's side, so I appreciate those comments as well.

David - I thought when Sev was at the police station and was being asked to sign the complaint, he looked like, "If I sign it, who will cut my steak tonight." teeheehee (that's me snickering, somewhat maliciously, at the thought)

Also, darnit! I had a suspicion about coma Adriano (tried and true soap method for drawing a knowledge bomb out), but I thought Flavia would get a physical anvil.

I'm holding out hope that the Val/Cris/Al thing is a fake out and Al will fake a "whatever babe, I got her number" regardless of how mad she is. (Am I giving her too much credit? Probably.)

In Joaquin's defense, I recall Eman jumping all over him for asking a something simple like "are you sure she didn't get confused?" (which is totally valid, given E's history). I think E pulled a Mari and was all "oh, so you're on her side now?!"

On that note: Lola v. Cris? Lola. At least Cris usually listens to people and responds with some reasonable amount of calm. He might give people too much benefit of the doubt, but Lola gives most people none.

Thank you all! I'm all about the glitter, glitter pens, glitter lotion (in the 90's-don't judge me I was a tween!), glitter lip gloss...

Speaking of which- I'm not kidding about Adriano's blood looking like my lipstick, I use Flat out Fab by m.a.c.

Ummm have any of you ever lost your ummm underpants? Cause I have a friend and ummm this happens to her a few times a week, you know what we should make and market for the Naughty Melon shop? Underpant trackers. Boom. We would be rich, rich!

HellaShelle, "I thought Flavia would get a physical anvil." Yeah, that was a surprise, that she escaped unharmed. Maybe a bit traumatized, but physically ok. I can't remember if she actually knows anything. I remember Adriano telling her that she's the one who told him to take the job, but I don't know if she ever knew that Sev was the "client."

Eli, "Underpant trackers"?! Will they be...sparkly?

Are these underpant trackers little sparkly melon patterned pins that one puts on one's undies?

I don't know, HellaShelle...they may need to be sewn in. We've got some people on this show who would just lose the pins AND the underpants if they're not attached.

I'm imagining the look on Val's face when she follows the signal on one of her trackers...to Sev's room.

Um...if anybody's listening in on the patio...this is NOT something I want to see! Follow one of the other suggestions, I beg you!

Aaaand DONE!

One final line to single out:
"Val goes to say good night to Sev in her skimpy pjs...things get creepy."

Perfect rendition of the scene. And like many have said the whole scene was EWWWW.

I was also surprised that Flavia lived. I thought for sure she was getting an anvil because Joaqu and Ade are supposed to be end game.

To answer tofie's question: I say Lola is the bigger baby. See the reasons hellashelle noted.

Mari makes me want to punch things. Annoying as hell.

I have brought back the Ho Melon. Yola made me miss Roberta. Yola your description of Susana and Jorge being able to take awful characters and make them sympathetic is wonderul. I know I feel a lot of sympathy for Roberta.

Diva, Hella, I still don't have all the details worked out!

Eli - Thank you for the bullet points recap!!! This is my personal favorite format because it is so efficient when I don't have much time to read. I think Sara is our other recapper who uses this format from time to time?

That Val/Sev scene was downright creepy & skeevy. I thought she was going to "do" Sev just in case her plans for Cris fall through and she could try to pin the babydaddy title on Sev. Eeeew.

THANK YOU to ALL LaSombra RECAPPERS for your recaps last week!!! I was out of town and managed to read the recaps on my iPhone 5, but it is a real PITA to try to post on that tiny screen. I truly appreciate the recaps so that I could stay current with the story. Abrazos!!! I am home now, have babysat our 20-mo/old toddler nieta and am exhausted. Thus, the bullet style is perfect for my energy level. The nieta had a nap; I did not. LOL I need a MelonMarguerita!

Awwwww, Doris, thank you :D Nice to see you again...Virtual drinks are on the house :D

Oh, and about Flavia..... I managed to read some comments where y'all thought my CrockpotTheory™ might come true. But Flavia continues to walk this earth, as of last night. Be warned, fellow Caray mates & Patio Peeps, my predictions never, ever, jamas come true. I am the worst at guessing what will happen. LOL

BTW, could our random predictions, CrackPotTheories™, CrockPotTheories™, and wondering/commenting if something might happen or possible outcomes be taken as spoilers? I do not want to get banned from here.

Sometimes, yes, I have deleted what is actually an innocent wondering because I thought it was a spoiler. It doesn't happen that often. If I do it to you, by mistake, I apologize in advance, and just let me know.

Most of the time, though, if I delete something for being a spoiler, it's because it gets posted by an anonymous person, comes completely out of the blue, has no connection to anything that happened during the episode, and/or is stated as a fact "____ is going to _____" or "This is how the show ends...."

Thank you very much for the recap!

Can you use some sort of nanotech to put the homing device in the elastic of the panties?

That's why I was so happy that your CrackPot CrockPot(™) Theory might come to pass. I still think you should get some sort of participation ribbon at least.

(PS: I'm glad to see your smiling tiara pup again. I missed you last week.)

Anything's possible? Good grief...I'm suddenly reminded of the days of living in a dorm and living in apartments where I had to go down to the laundry room...it would have kept my stuff from being stolen!

I almost (only almost) felt sorry for Flavia when Joaquin was telling her that Ray can't see her in this state. And glad that she didn't try to argue with him.

Busy all day and late to the party. Thank you Eli! Your bullets were detailed and perfect.

The image of Val and Sev flirting is burned into my brain. Blech!

I laughed when Cande wailed about Al stealing her baby doll...uhm, son, and her nana. What is she, five years old? SHE is the most childish character. Beyond Lola even.

Lol, Vivi! Now, I will say that I felt sorry for the actress for having to play that scene, but Cande? Nope, nope, nope!

I wonder if these actors are wondering why Cris is still at home too. Hey director, shouldn't I be living at my wife's house by now? Aren't I a little old for my mommy to be treating me like I'm 5?

It's not odd that a young, unmarried person would be living with their parents in that cultural context, like it strikes us in the American cultural context. But it IS odd that he would stay after learning what horrible people his parents are, when he's already married and his wife has her own house, and when his ex-fiance who wants him back has moved in. That's when you wonder what the heck it will take to get him off his duff and make him leave.

"I predict break up number 756."
Best line in the whole recap. LOL

Vivi, yep, he's living with every enemy he has. I don't know whether to tell him to make sure his door is locked at all times, or make sure he doesn't ever let anyone get between him and the door! I'm hoping tonight, when he answers Aldonza he says "I don't know what she's doing in here, honey, especially since she didn't bother knocking on my door...hey, Val, did you need something, 'cause I have some very important things to discuss WITH MY WIFE."

Good Eli, Good recap. And funny, gracias.
Cande can be kind of funny when shes mad.
"That woman is not satisfied takeing my son,
she takes my nana too."LOL!!!! Well you didn't want nana, now ally's got nana.
Dom is so sweet and forgiving, she'll forgive that hefer and go back. didn't she help raise candele In that house? I guess you can say that cande Is her baby I guess in some way. It's sad she grew up to be such a bitch, married to a monster.

Nina, I think Dominga does think of Cande as her little girl. Cande thinks of Dominga as family when it's convenient, and an employee when it's not.

Ally 's temper is going to be her undoing if shes not carefull. These people don't know how to close their doors when they' re on the phone and lock it. Don't konw they eavesdrop In thst house? NO!!! really hope this last, we will see though.
Vileval and her slutiness, no future daughter in law and her wife right mind what come into her future father in law's room dressed like that I wouldn't be a bit surprised if those two started going at it they deserve each other. skank and the dog.

Yep. Dominga spoke about holding Cande in her arms as a baby, watching her grow up, and turn into a woman. Don't know if Cande is younger or older than her son, but if she's older then she would consider Cande her first child in many ways.

You know, now that I think about it, I'm not sure anything has ever happened to make Cris consider that maybe people are listening at his door. But then again, he still doesn't seem to have realized that Sev's first "attack" is what allowed the DNA test to be tampered with. He puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with orange.

La Diva, that could make her not want to come back. I person can take just so much disrespect. That sweet lady is not her doormat.

Well, I sure hope she quits being Cande's doormat. She doesn't deserve the crap Cande is dishing out. Nobody does. Except Sev. Seeing her go after Sev always cheers me up.

LOL, HE PUTS 2 and 2 together and comes up with orange. Hahahaha!!!!!.
The boy ain't to bright. He needs smarten up, him and ally, they seem a bit naive to me. They just walk right into the traps that are set
For them and don't think about it until its to late to do anything about it.
When are they going to get a clue these two airheaded lovers?

Their children will be cute but dumb.

Although Cris seems to have one expression, a blank and/or lost look, I actually love that blank, lost look even in contrast to Ayala and his magnificent range of emotions. When you're young and cute you can get away with those things or maybe that look elicits sympathy because the child is just lost at sea with those 2 as parents. He needs to move out, and can Mari move to another state please Ms/Mr. Writers?

Yola

Yola - I was so excited about the glitter and the recap I forgot to say welcome! I'm enjoying your comments.

Bye, Felicia? I think I'm going to change it to "Bye, Natasha" in honor of our oh-so-determined spammer.

Cris needs to get really mad, like his almost wife.she gets pissed really easy.
The first time I saw her she slapped the crap out cande, I was so happy to see that, cause cande wasn't used to people slappin her back. Roberta looked so pround.
Cris' parents play him like a fidel. And he falls for it all the time. Watch and see don't they get him marrying that skank, cause he ain't (pardon my french) gonna have enough sence to really question anything those liars say. The boy ain't to bright. Hopefully before the show is over he'll smarten up. They shouldn't have dumb children. STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!! Of the past.
