La Sombra del Pasado #70 The Puppetmistress Strikes Again!

Greetings, Sombra Peeps!  First of all, a big Thank You to Eli for swapping days with me and giving us the exciting details of Friday’s exciting episode!

Next, a lame, but true, disclaimer:  My DVR farted out on me and there were several scenes I was going to clarify.  So, here's what I remember and put together from my notes.  Feel free to correct and expand in comments!

Let’s jump right in where we left off with Cande deploying her latest separate Cris and Aldonza weapon:  the sibling bomb!  Cris thinks it’s the most absurd thing he ever heard and doesn’t believe a word of it.  Cande tells of Roberta’s affair with Severiano who recovers enough from his initial shock to reluctantly agree.  Aldonza looks as if she is going to hurl and tearfully protests Cande’s “revelation.”  Aldonza says she doesn’t believe it but she leaves in disgust and hurt, Cris runs after her.  He begs her not to believe this idiocy!  The seeds of doubt have been planted and Aldonza cries that Cande could be right and if she is, what do they do?  Aldonza says her mother is the only one who knew for sure and they can’t ask her!  Cris says a DNA test will settle the issue immediately!  Not one to be bothered with thinking things through when a dramatic display of emotion and fleeing are an option, Aldonza chooses the latter:  she wants to be alone!

Once home she talks to Adelina and tells her of the latest salvo from Cande.  Adelina tries to tell her it’s absolutely not true; her father is Raimundo!  Aldonza wants to know if she can prove Raimundo is her father;  Adelina says there’s nothing to prove!  Aldonza asks if it’s true that Roberta and Sev had an affair.  Adelina answers sadly, yes.  Aldonza wants to know when it started.  Adelina is not sure but she IS sure that Aldonza and Cris are NOT siblings!  Aldonza’s mind has already gone to the horrible thought that Sev could be her father and that her own father raped her!  Adelina tries to calm Aldonza and also suggests the DNA test but Aldonza laments that she knows he will never take it.

Once Cris has run after Aldonza Sev rips into Cande for daring to invent such a total and absolute lie!  He growls that Roberta was already expecting when he started going with her.  He looks Cande up and down with disdain (yes, I know peeps) and spits that he never knew she was so perverse!  Cande is unrepentant:  she is capable of ANYTHING to protect her son!  She flounces away, triumphant leaving Sev looking super pissed.

Cris returns from having run after Aldonza to confront Sev in the study.  Cris demands that Sev take a DNA test.  Aldonza will submit a sample too and this will be settled.  Sev refuses and Cris tells him that’s because the whole story is a lie.  Sev doesn’t care what Cris says and flatly refuses.  Cris tries to appeal to Sev that this issue is standing in the way of his happiness with Aldonza.  Sev repeats his tired line that Aldonza is NOT his happiness and he’d do best to forget about her!

We’ll get back with them in a minute, it seems Padre Jeronimo has finally been able to catch up to Humberto:  Padre is waiting in his office.  First, Padre tells Hum about having talked to Vale at church and what bad shape she was in.  He advises Hum to get close to her and give her all the loving support he can:  she needs him now more than ever.  Hum looks as if this is a newsflash.  We know why:  Vale has never had much use for Hum beyond his checkbook.  Anyway, Padre gets right to the point and asks if Emanuel is the baby that Roberta and Severiano had.  WHOA!!  Hum jumps bad and chews Padre J out but Padre meets him chomp for chomp!  Oh, Hum has been very patient with Padre and told him he didn’t know anything!  Roberta gave birth to a dead baby girl!  Padre doesn’t believe Hum!  Well, that’s Padre’s problem!  Padre demands to know what Hum has to lose from telling him the truth!  Hum flings open the door and all but tells Padre to go to hell!  He demands that Padre stop bugging him and leave him in peace!  Both men are standing near the end of this conversation and both are vein-popping serious!  Padre vows to do what he has to do to get to the truth of the matter!  Padre turns on his heel and strides through the open door leaving the poor Secretary open-mouthed impactada!

Later, we find Aldonza later in the church crying.  Cris comes in.  She’s been looking for peace and can’t find it.  She asks Cris if he talked to his dad.   Cris answers yes but he refuses to do the test.  Cris essentially doesn’t believe the story and is for them moving forward on the strength of their love which they know is true but Aldonza cannot ignore the SHADOW of the doubt.  Aldonza says they cannot ignore the possibility of being siblings, it will pursue them!  Cris tells her he will NOT renounce her:  he loves her with his whole soul.  Aldonza tells Cris she loves him the same but speaks these chilling words:  Why don’t you go look for Valeria.  Forget me.”  She leaves the church and Cris, stunned, doesn’t go after her.

Let’s check in with Tomas.  We find him at home looking wistfully at picture of him and Abelardo when there’s a knock on the door.  It’s Pru with a solution for how they can be together!  Ooops!  In walks Tomas’ mom almost catching them kissing.  Pru pretends to be getting a bit of trash out of his eye.  Tomas’ mom (what’s her name, y’all) has her Bible and wants to join the day’s study.  She laments that Lardo didn’t attend the readings but will keep praying and she’s going to bring even more students to the Bible study!  Pru is an inspiration and she wants to work shoulder to shoulder with her to save the erring youth!  Tomas’ mom wants to lead the reading for the day:  her selection is the story of Adam and Eve; original sin and the fall from Grace.  Tomas and Pru play handsies behind his mom’s back and make eyes at one another especially at the part where Adam and Eve suddenly become aware of their nakedness after having tasted of the forbidden fruit.  After the lesson is over Pru stands chatting with Tomas’ mom whose back is to Tomas so she cannot see the scandalous and suggestive expressions Tomas is making with his eyes and the lustful invitations he’s making with his mouth.  Not one lightning bolt came out of the blue!

We have a brief visit with the Lagos.  It is brilliantly and painfully played, as usual.  Uriel’s grief is shifting to a deeper level.  Irma, wearing disturbingly dark makeup, comforts and encourages him that they have to move forward:  they can’t let the pain defeat them.  She begs him to move forward, to do it for the memory of Abelardo.  The camera pans out as they hold each other and cry.

Cris is back home looking sadly at his escapulario.  Cande comes in to make sure the screws are tightly secured on the vice around his life.   He doesn’t believe her.  Cande maintains that the possibility of their being siblings is the ONLY reason she and Sev don’t want him with Aldonza.  Why didn’t she reveal this before?  Oh, it was too painful!  She hates to ask the next question but, how far he has gone with Aldonza.  I swear Cris’s face looked just like Cande asked him to drop his pants and let her examine. . . .which is essentially the effect it had.  Cris answers, “Don’t worry, we haven’t done anything. “  Oh, thank goodness, goes Cande, it would be so terrible if she were to get pregnant.  Cris snaps at her, “Stop tormenting me!   If you are so sorry, help me convince Dad to take a DNA test.  I beg you.”

Eman goes to see Vale to ask her to see Mari, she is so down and needs a friend.  Say what?  How do you expect her to feel Mari asks Eman, when her brother just died.  It’s not HER place to comfort her; he’s her boyfriend, let him do it!  Pru comes in, Eman leaves but not before telling Vale if she continues being the way she is, she’s going to end up alone.  What did he want, Pru asks?  Just to bother me answers dead-eyed Vile.

Repercussions of the sibling bomb continue across Santa Lucia.  Adelina shows up at Sev’s and greets him with our slap of the day!  She asks how he dares spew this lie.  Sev immediately slips into his lewd leering as he asks her if she’s sure it’s a lie.  Unshaken, Adelina gets right in his face and gives words to his unspeakable depravity:    “Knowing this was a possibility you raped your own daughter.  The crime you committed will not go unpunished!”  Sev’s response is a taunting and sly smile.  What is Adelina going to do about it!  She’s going to tell Cris! (Thanks, Hellashelle).    Cande comes in, Adelina leaves.  Cande asks Sev what Adelina wanted.  Oh, just to bitch at me about what you told Aldonza.   Cande tells Sev that Cris told her to convince him to do the DNA test but that he should not take it for any reason!  Sev is still smiling in the afterglow of his latest visual rape.  He tells Cande not to worry:  there’s no chance he’ll take it.

Okay folks.  Our Donnie has gotten back home and called Renato who arrives at her house.  She gets right to the point and asks Renato to annul the marriage!   He’s like, what?  She falls into his arms, crying.

Don’t ask questions, just end it as soon as possible.

I need a strong reason.  It’s not that easy.

Is our being siblings sufficient?  It seems we share blood.

How do you know because you have to be sure.

Because my mother and his father had an affair.  Cande and Sev told me.  Adelina didn’t confirm it but it makes total sense.  Everything makes sense now. I think that Aldonza believes she is the baby that was said to have been born dead.  Again, was going to confirm this in my second viewing.  Please clarify.

Renato says he needs all the papers from their civil union.    She gives them to him.  He asks if she’s sure.  She is.  Ok.  He will file the papers right away but says they have to talk about it.  Aldonza agrees but then asks him to leave her alone.  Renato leaves.

Later Aldonza is in her room looking at a photograph when Adelina comes in.  Aldonza cries that no one can help her now.  Adelina tells her she is NOT Sev’s daughter.  Aldonza asks and gets confirmation of the affair between Roberta and Sev.  She wants to know why Adelina did not tell her before.  No matter, she’s made a decision.  She cannot start her life with somebody who could be her brother.  She’s going to divorce Cris.  Adelina think she’s being hasty.  It’s done.  Renato has started the process.  Severiano refused to take the test and she would rather leave Cris to be happy with another woman although she will never stop loving him.

There is a brief scene where Cande asks Dominga who let Adelina in.  Dominga admits to doing so because her granddaughter is living with Adelina and it’s only common courtesy.  Dominga figures that Adelina must have a good reason and also knows something grave is going on at the house.  Please fill in; was going to go back and get the gist of this conversation.

Eman recalls the conversation with the cold bitch Vale.  He calls Mari and invites her to dinner.  She’ll meet him in the plaza.  Irma comes in.  Mari is very happy and Irma is happy for her.  Irma manages to smile.  Mari sits at her dressing table and prepares to get dolled up for Eman.

Eman sees Cris in the plaza.  He tells Eman about the sibling thing.  Cris leaves him, doesn’t feel like talking but Eman runs after him.  Cris gets drunk in company of Eman who remains a sober listener.   Sev won’t get the test, the doubt will remain, poisoning him and Aldonza.  Cris cries and asks Eman to tell him how does he stop loving her, how can he extricate her from his soul. . .  (Okay, folks.  I'm sorry.  Recapper's privelege to gush over the galan:  Cris is the prettiest crier I've seen since Fernando (Jaime Camil) in LaFea!  Good gracious!  Lord Have Mercy!  Doris!  I'm comin' to join ya honey, over at the Cougar table!)

Jock meets with Silvia.  He’s desperate to see Ray.  Silvia has a plan which involves using one of her friends to get intel on Flavia?  This is another point I was going to go back and relisten to.  Anyway Flavia, accompanied by  (hot) Adriano and cute little Ray  goes to a bank.  She confirms a deposit has been made and asks to withdraw all the money.  Bank dude goes to check something and Flavia looks out pensively at Adriano and little Ray.  That’s all we get.

Pru goes to Aldonza’s house getting all in her face about how she ruined her daughter’s life with her slutty ways and she’s just like her momma.   Camilo comes out, sizes up the situation, pulls a gun on her and cocks it, fires in the air four times.  Pru closes her trap, jumps in her car and speeds away.  Aldonza goes off to walk, she wants to be alone.  She declines Camilo’s offer to go with her.  Aldonza goes to the waterfall and cries.

Dat-blamed DVR! I get ready to go back and clean up my notes and impressions with a second viewing and NADA! Wanted to get something up before it's too late. Y'all have at it and I'll be back in a bit!

Don't worry, Lila. I'm sure it's great! Thanks!

I can't wait to read it. Now back to writing my recap!

Great title!!

Lila, it was a great job! You hit all the major points and made me laugh after I wanted to through a shoe at not just Sev, but everyone on the show today! Ok, maybe just our four main players and Renato.

"Hum jumps bad and chews Padre J out but Padre meets him chomp for chomp!" -Loved your pun here (though for dogs sand b******, I'd keep the search to the Zapata house and Las Animas. Oops, there are pigs running LA)

"Aldonza cannot ignore the SHADOW of the doubt" - Mmm hmmm. They're certainly proving this TN title worthy.

"Eman recalls the conversation with the cold bitch Vale" -Seriously, that girl is ice cold.

Clarification points: Adelina threatens to tell Cris the truth, not Aldonza. Flavia sees Adriano checking out a random female passerby while she waits for the money. Silvia apparently heard me on the patio the other day and wants Joaq to deposit a little money, wait for Flavia to call demanding the full amount, and then go to where she's getting the money to have it out. She has a friend at the bank that she thinks can get them the info on where she's withdrawing the money (apparently it's not a joint account?).

Has all of Santa Lucia lost internet? Can they not discover with a google search that Cris and Aldonza can do the DNA test to find out if they're related? Pero, que estupidez! My beanie must be screwed too tight, because my face feels hot with outrage and disbelief just thinking about it!

Ugh, Pru. Just ugh.

Right, hellashelle? The whole time I was mentally screaming "you don't need Sev's flipping DNA!!!!!!!!"

And Renato didn't say squat.

Sara - IKR!!! Augh!!! I can't get over it. I wanted Cris to grab her, stomp over to his parents house, snactch a patch of hair out of his dad's head and say, we're going to DF to get this sorted out NOW! Can't he just take a toothbrush or haircomb or stab him with his damn horseshoe pin or something?

Lila - I also meant to say that if I had your memory, I'd be over the moon! I have to rewatch things so many times sometimes to make sure I've got what happened down, and you pulled out an entire recap on one view?! Masterful.

Ditto. I can't recap in one view either (unless it's TSTSNBN.)

I have to watch it once, then rewatch with pauses for time to write (and check facebook, and email, investigate the weird sounds the cats are making.)

I vote for stabbing Sev with the damn pin.

Lila- A stellar recap as always! No need for a second viewing, and hellashelle caught you up on the parts you missed.

Aldonza wasn't questioning Adelina about the affair, because Adelina already told her about that some episodes ago. What Aldonza is questioning is Adelina's certainty that Ray is her dad. Dawkins had to admit that 1) when she came to town when Al was a baby, the affair was already underway, and 2) She doesn't know when the affair started. But she told Al that she's certain Rob would have told her something so important. Al is convinced that the sibling link is why Rob was so against her seeing Cris, just like Sever and Cande. She can't think of any other reason why her mother would have been so uptight about it. Of course, not knowing the other dark secrets her mother and Sever were keeping.

Dominga didn't know what was going on, but she was sure Cande was up to no good, since Adelina looked so upset. She basically just told Cande that karma is a bitch and it will come back to her. Cande just sniffed and flounder off.

I'm sure by next episode, Padre J will be all like, "Dudes, the two of you can take the DNA test without Sever."

Thanks, Hellashelle and Sara! Girls! I couldn't believe it when the darned recording wasn't there! Stupid Comcrap!

I didn't think they needed Sev for the DNA. Yah! I could line up a whole bunch of these folks and slap 'em all silly, I tell you what! DOH!

Let me go fix that bit about who Adelina was going to tell!

Thank y'all so much! I may turn in now. I'm so used to the weekend recap and it's back to work after a few days off!

Thanks, and please point out anything else I missed.

Hey! Anybody else note a very subtle look of glee in Renato's face after Donnie asked him to deep 6 the marriage?

Of course, that won't stop Sever and Cande from rigging the test, just as we all predicted this past weekend.

I've had my DVR do the same. It's devastating.

I have my last day of work tomorrow. I would much rather hang on the patio!

You got a great episode, Lila!

Dawkins? Ok, Tablet. That was supposed to be Adelina.

Flounced off, not flounder. Flounced is a word, right? Tablet won't accept it.

I am loving this TN but the stupidity running rampant in tonight's episode threatened to put me in a manicomio! Do none of these dummies know how DNA works? Why didn't someone - ANYONE - point out that they don't need Sev's DNA to find out if Cris/Aldonza are related but that they can just test their DNA against each other to see if they are half siblings? I kept waiting for this to be brought up but one after another people found out and said nothing. Ah!

Also, under the assumption that these people really are this stupid, for such an important issue like this, you would think someone would suggest stealing Sev's DNA and getting a secret test done. Cris and him live together - it can't be too hard to grab a piece of hair from a brush or really anything w/ his DNA on it. They don't need his approval.

It's a shame that something so illogical like this is breaking the main couple up and watching their desperation at having no!way! to find out the truth was maddening. If only someone had 2 brain cells to rub together, our leads would be at the nearest lab settling this once and for all.

Here's to hoping PJ, who has shown promise in the 2+2=4 logic category, will suggest that Al and Cris test their DNA against each other but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks Lila for your fast recap!

Thanks, Vivi for your always kind appreciation and for those points of clarification! I really wanted to go back and listen again. Ok. She knew about the affair but was wanting "proof" that Ray was her Dad.

I know it's late and we may not get into this til tomorrow, but what do y'all think about Donnie's unilateral decision to annul? I'm sure Renato knows they don't need Sev for a DNA test! He wants the girl, so I don't expect him to have clued her in. He's cashing in on her dramatic impulsiveness but I'm like, you really want a chick like this and not Silvia? Sheesh!

Lila- Yes, noticed that look on Renato's face. He should have been the one to suggest the Cris-Al DNA test. But I'm sure he's not eager to fix this mess.

Flavia definitely saw Adriano checking out that girl, and she wasn't happy about it. Really, she's leaving Joaquin for this loser?

I'm pretty sure flounced is a word. I use it all the time.

That's the best Rant ever, Linda!

Vivi - yeah, I forgot that she still doesn't know about her father's death, Sev's arm, and the missing baby. Aldonza's let the doubt take her to some dark places. I thought she was going to toss her ring into the falls or return, yet again, to the convent or kill Sev (when she said he'd have to die for them to get the test, I thought she was about to grab her gun and take off). How can she not even want to try to get to the bottom of this?!

Ok, I know: the possibility that her father raped her has basically stopped her brain. I suppose that makes sense; it would prob stop mine too. I just hope Silvia or PJ or SOMEONE kicks thistrain back into gear because this is SUCH a lame obstacle.

Cande is racking up some serious points in the negative column. Omg, when Cris finds out the truth about this lie - whoa baby! I don't know how she's even going to find the face with which to beg him for forgiveness for this one.

Also, I don't think Tomas mom has a name yet. At least, there's nothing on captions.

I think Aldonza's snap decision is found on page 42 of the TN Operating Procedures manual.

Vivi, I was wondering when we got a character named "Dawkins". ;D

Thank you, Linda! This IS infuriating! Oh. My. Gosh! You know, if Al-Dunce-ah would think instead of running off in tears all the time, this whole damned thing could've been settled before the Disney commercial. Criminey!

They are not writing Donnie right! She can, as one of my friends noted, look her rapist in the eye, she's supposed to love Cris "with her whole soul" despite the fact his father raped her; she knows Cande is a lying, scheming shrew and she just let's Cande put her hand up her butt and operate her like a frickin' puppet!

Drives me nuts!!!!! She should have thought of the danged DNA without Sev thing or at least frickin' LISTEN and stop running away from Cris all the time.

It's about MY time to do some slappin': Slap some sense into that heffa's head!

You know what. Forget it. Me and Doris will comfort Cris. It's all good!

Vivi - flounced is definitely a word and so appropriately chosen for Cande's exit. Nothing serious is going on in her world? Man, she so deserves the bomb when this comes to light.

Yeah, I saw Ren's little smile. He better have failed bio when he was an undergrad, because not telling his client about this issue has gotta be a legal violation.

Linda - girl, you are on my wavelength! Anyone else up for selling slappy hands at the NM?

Hellashelle- Al looked like she was about to vomit a few times, just thinking her father raped her. She could barely contain her digust as she called Sever a pig and stalked off. I understand her not thinking rationally at the moment. But what she needs to stop doing is making major life decisions right after she's received terrible news or something horrible has happened to her. It's her pattern. What she needs to do instead, is put herself in a timeout for a few days, and then make her decisions. Renato should know her by now, and as her lawyer advise her to take more time to think things through before he begins the paperwork.

Slappy hands, YES! How about boxing gloves that look like melons!

Lord Have Mercy! Ok. I'm open to some voices sympathetic to all the changes Donnie has been through. I may be being too hard on her. Padre or somebody needs to talk to her. I'm afraid, though, if they tell Padre about the rape he'll snatch that collar off and castrate Sev in the town plaza. Oh, wait. That's a GOOD thing!

Cris is due some more crying as we all know and he is so frickin' gorgeous when he cries and so sexy in his vulnerability that I don't mind Donnie blowing his mind for a few episodes.

I'm so shallow.

Lila and Sara - for the point of the show, I'm sure there's a reason for her snap decision, but Lila ita with your friend: how is she able to face her rapist (in a crop top sometimes), but not wanting to get to the bottom of this when THE LOVE OF HER LIFE is on the line? Even knowing that his having raped her makes Sev either a demon or this story a big lie?

This remake is so good, I'm mad when they make these easily fixable moments of what feels like sloppiness!

Did you see the original, hellahselle? I'm glad to hear this is a good remake.

"But what she needs to stop doing is making major life decisions right after she's received terrible news or something horrible has happened to her."

Didn't Rob kind of make snap decisions? Poor Aldonza did't have the greatest role model in that regard. And I love Adelina, but she sort of just went along with Rob...probably because she knew better than to argue. She seems to do a lot of the same with Aldonza.

I was glad to see Adelina's spunk tonight.

Okay, Vivi. I see the sympathetic voice above: we posted at the same time. Good points about Donnie. She DOES need to chill and not make these decisions when she's still reeling and traumatized.

Poor Cris. He probably thought life was pretty sweet before he graduated and came back home to Hades Hacienda!

I know it's for dramatic story telling, but Renato has no business being Aldonza's lawyer if he is so hung up on her.

Sara, minus the sexual gusto and self-medication with alcohol, Aldonza IS a lot like Roberta!

Ok, for reelz this time, y'all enjoy, I'll catch up with you in the morning.

Thanks, love my patio peeps!

What she needs to do instead, is put herself in a timeout for a few days, and then make her decisions

YES! Please, lord, someone put her in timeout for even an hour and have someone sensible take over. Her constant, I've-made-up-my-mind-no-arguments! approach to things is making me want to slap her! Other people are involved; does she not understand this?

Lila - IKR! Cris is a really good crier! I feel like that's especially hard for galans, but I was totally feeling him in that scene.

Was anyone else surprised that he so readily told Eman what was up? Not that he doesn't or should'nt trust E, just that I don't think it's something most people would admit right away.

Ay! We're close to 30 comments and I have to go to bed. What fool scheduled my last day for the Tuesday after Memorial Day?

I'm sure there will be a ton of comments in the morning. I will enjoy reading and drinking coffee.

It's been such a nice night on the patio. I had talking donkeys on one of my shows, and funny rants from commenters on the other.

Whoa. Terrible thought. Someone bet will tell Cris and Aldonza can just do the test. And then some jack wagon is going to substitute Cris's sample with Eman's. I'm guessing, but it's possible, right?

Sara - I know I did see El Manantial, I just don't remember it. I tried to watch the first few episodes along with Sombra, to track the remake parts, but it was too much. Besides, I don't want to know where Sombra will go.

I had talking donkeys on one of my shows
...what? Lol, what show is this?

Crap. Forgot one more thing. I really apologize for my comment bombing.

I am not liking Aldonza's suggestion that Cris go back to Val AND asking Renato get an annulment AND that Cris was drinking.

Val just might be able to pawn the baby off on Cris.

Drat.

hellashelle-The talking donkey was on Amores Con Trampa. I think that show is an acquired taste. It's a comedy, but not the usual comedy. And I'm loving every stinking minute of it.

Sara - sadly, that's more that possible: it's probable.

...gah! I too am going to bed, in protest of my too tight beanie and how much the resultant drama is annoying me!

Another roadblock for Aldonza & Cris!

Candela & Severiano will be going to HELL!

I'm reading the recap now. THANK YOU again. I agree with hellashelle. It's amazing. You did catch everything important. You must take excellent notes.

"Cande comes in to make sure the screws are tightly secured on the vice around his life."

What a perfect line!

" I swear Cris’s face looked just like Cande asked him to drop his pants and let her examine. . . .which is essentially the effect it had."

Yes. THat scene was just gross. Ew. Poor Cris.

"Okay, folks. I'm sorry. Recapper's privelege to gush over the galan: Cris is the prettiest crier I've seen since Fernando (Jaime Camil) in LaFea! Good gracious! Lord Have Mercy! Doris! I'm comin' to join ya honey, over at the Cougar table!"

Oh it looks like we need to open up the wrestling pit again. :-)

Fabulous work, Lila. Thank you so much.

Padre Jeronimo should take Aldonza, Cris and Eman out of town immediately to the big city and get them all a DNA test. That way he'll prove that Cris and Aldi are NOT related, but that they are both Emanuel's half siblings, since he suspects it!! Get to the city without telling anybody so that the tests can't be messed with.

Aldonza knows full well why they went to Mexico in the first place ... they all decided it was the best thing after Satan raped her. Now she's "wondering" if the reason her mother insisted they move (though it was SHE who wanted to leave) in order to get Aldonza far away from Cris? WHAT? She's a fool. Get the DNA TEST!!!

Yes, they need to get a DNA test. We are about halfway through so I suspect they will be separated a little longer. Even if they clear this up in the next week or two, we still have some cards in play that might split them up again. I kind of hope the Emanuel reveal is soon. Maybe he can get a discount on Solitario.

Gracias, Eli; you caught all the good stuff.

I don't know if I have anything new to add, so I'll dogpile on the DNA comments. They don't need Severiano for the testing; only each other. Of course, it would also be a good thing if the padre volunteered his own DNA to prove that Aldonza is related to him. He should also be able to find a way to persuade Emmanuel to accompany them for moral support and... the argument that he should provide a blood sample to see if it matched any DNA in the hospital or in prison records. This would be the ultimate Grand Slam because that would show he does have family.

Emmanuel: "I got a sister from another Mister and a brother from another mother.... and they're in love with each other. How messed up is that?"

Valeria deserves a good spanking, something I suspect she never got from either of her parents. She has no empathy whatsoever and is a totally selfish bitch, just like her "aunt" Candela. Prudencia isn't much better, either. I can't wait for someone to catch her in flagrante delicto. That will be amusing.

Kudos to the comment about Renato being in too deep on a personal level to be Aldonza's lawyer. His lack of objectivity in this situation will be his undoing.

To Nina re yeseterday's comments: That was sheer speculation. There is no info on any of that and I never saw El Mananital.

Thanks, Lila. This hit all the good points, and your commentary/snark was just so great! (Can you believe that on a website like this, "snark" isn't recognized as a word?)

I agree with all the stuff that has been said about DNA testing. You would not have had to flunk a COLLEGE biology course to miss this; you would have had to flunk a GRADE SCHOOL biology course, and never in your life have watched a crime show.

I can't believe how our resolute heroine has melted down into this unthinking mass of uncertainty.

I thought that Tomas mother said she was reading Psalm 69? SIXTY-NINE? The two would be lovers got a kick out of that. But the stuff she read sounded more like Genesis.

So now it looks like Renato is crossing into a shady place by withholding information? Oh, I hope not.

Cande keeps digging herself a deeper hell into which she will ultimately have to descend.

Ad is the only one so far who has been impervious to Sev's shooshing.

Thanks again Lila. I enjoyed every bit of your work.

David

At least now we know for sure when the Rob- Sever affair started.

Thank you David! I was positive I heard Psalm 69 and I ran around trying to find my Hebrew/Spanish book of Psalms that my daughter bought for me in Israel while trying to keep an ear out for what the mom was reading. They didn't match at all.

Always fun to hear the vosotros form!

Amen, Vivi! Thanks to Satan we know when the affair started. I'm really glad that was cleared up.

Hey, Sara, Amiga mia @ 12:20 a.m. no less! Thank you, Girl! Oh, Cris was so precious when he cried helplessly to Eman. Poor baby had to open up to somebody! His momma is driving him crazy and wait til he finds out his daddy raped this flaky girl he's trying to build a life with! Cris's near breakdown gave me a moment of warm, fuzzy tenderness!

Working my way down comments and scarfing breakfast before running off to work. . .if I don't get back until later, carry on! It'll be a nice after work treat!

I know you are running down the list and I hate interrupting, but I meant to tell you last night that I was also impressed by Cris's crying. It was very genuine. Not scrunchy faced and fake teary.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Wow, I get excited to see what finally happens tonight and it was an hour of head banging on my wall. Thank you THank you Lila for making lasts night's angst fest so palatable and enjoyable. I would have been better off just reading your great detail.

I had been so impressed how modern and seemingly up to date we had things in this TN and then everybody goes all stupid on us. Cande pulling that rabbit out of her hat was super sized anvil worthy. Throwing Sev under the bus, yeah who cares, but doing that to your own son. I suspected she has stepped over that crazy bitch line awhile ago, and this seals it.

As for the DNA test--oh, I don't know. How about going up to the bathroom and grabbing some hair strands from Sev's brush. And definitely, they cold take the stupid test among each other...ok, we all know this whole thing is beyond lame and serving as a plot device for endless episodes. Grrrr.

Oh, Padre. Be careful. But wonder if we'll have some major incident, someone has rare blood, E-man matches either one and voila--one more seat at the family reunion table.

If Pru weren't such a witch, I could enjoy the Tomas scenes more. But after that baby comment, I'm off her.

Notice my comment page is different and acting all screwy this morning. Honestly....

Daisynjay

I feel really horrible for Aldonza: poor baby:(

Want to hug her!

Daisynjay - your comment is a hoot! It had me laughing from beginning to end. I'm with you on Pru. I would enjoy her story with Tomas if she weren't so hateful in other scenes.

May comment box/page is screwy, too.

And thank you again, Lila. It really was a great recap.

I appreciate all the work that goes into recapping. We are lucky to have folks that give so generously of their time... FOR FREE so we have a place to discuss and share.

THANK YOU.

Thank YOU, Urban! Wasn't Valeria just the coldest, most heartless wretch you've ever seen? Maybe they WILL let her die getting an abortion but it's more likely that she'll not go through with it at the last minute and sucessfully pin it on Cris. What with Donnie divorcing him he may well decide their love is just not meant to be and "do the right thing" by Vale and marry her. I said I was not going to speculate anymore but it seems irresistible! DOH!

You are welcome, David! The whole DNA thing is uber irritating, isn't it? Jeesh! If they can't figure out they don't need Sev for a DNA test then Vale can certainly pawn off her spawn on Cris, no problem!

I thought that Tomas mother said she was reading Psalm 69? SIXTY-NINE? The two would be lovers got a kick out of that. But the stuff she read sounded more like Genesis. I thought I heard that too, David! It was definitely Genesis! Oh, those two were being beyond naughty. I'm happy to see Pru getting in deeper with Tomas: it's going to make the fall of that hypocritical ho that much harder!

Lila - thank you for the recap! And there is a chair with your name on it, over here at the Cougar Table. ;-)

Tomas' faces, behind his mother's back when Pru was leaving, stole the whole show for me.

What kind if idiot is Cris? Has he never watched TV or movies? Dude, go get some hair from Sev's hairbrush and run that DNA yourself.

Seriously, if he is that dense and easily managed by his parents, he does not deserve anyone. Well, maybe Flavia ...

Oh Humberto, you will fry.

The Uriel/Irma scenes are the best done that I've ever seen in a telenovela. I'm sort of worried that Uri might commit suicide while he is in this depression.

Vivi - yes, "flounced" is a word, and I knew what you meant but enjoyed visualizing her floundering off, too. LOL

David - I heard *and* my CCs said "psalmo 69" but that was Genesis. I even looked it up to be sure. ;-) So much for bible study in SL. LOL

Sara - "I think Aldonza's snap decision is found on page 42 of the TN Operating Procedures manual. " Sad but true. LOL

Doris- I'm concerned about Uriel, too. I really hope he can move on. I know it will take time and you don't "get over" the death of a loved one. You learn to manage. I hope for Irma and Mari the he learns to live with his loss.

I really feel for Mari. It's like she's losing her father, too.

Sara - ITA about Mari. The thing about this storyline is that stuff like this really happens in real life. It's the only sub plot that rings true.

Okay. Now, just quickly before I dash off!

Thank YOU! Daisy, Doris, Sara! Doris, thanks for saving me a place at the Cougar Table! Yah, Baby!

Y'all, re the DNA, I guess this is what happens when technology outstrips plot devices. We don't have to wait on injuries or illness and the need for transfusion of bodily fluids to find out folks are or are not related. I don't even blame Renato if he doesn't clue these dunderheads in. Jeezopete! I'm afraid we're all going to be banging our heads through another Vale/Cris hook up but you know what? I don't want Donnie messing over Renato!

Dang on it! Off to work!

Doris- WORD. I'm having a very hard time with the death of Lardo storyline.

About Psalm 69:

Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.
I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched.
My eyes fail, looking for my God.
Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me.
I am forced to restore what I did not steal.

The whole "water" allusion and enemies with unfounded hatred makes me wonder if it was more than the number the writers were going for.

I agree, Sara. That text is perfect fir more than one situation in this tale.

Lila, my apologies for not realizing this was your fine work. I should never post pre-caffeine.

Urban - verse 8 is good too. Something like "I do not know my mother's children."

I think there is only one thing Aldonza can ever be sure about and that's no matter what happens now or what other skeletons fall out of the closet Candela would continue to make her life a living hell. I don't see her ever feeling any empathy with her over Sev's rape no matter how horrified she will be at learning she is married to a rapist. The only fix for our Romeo and Juliet will be for Sev to return to hell and for Candela to go away. Either she will become a nun or go to Europe for a long while. That's if she doesn't get a huge anvil for her past ugly deeds or ones yet to come.

Cande definitely crossed a line when she lied to Cris about this and even asked if they had slept together, knowing that it makes no difference! The only way she might feel empathy for Aldonza is if she herself was also abused.

Sara - thanks for looking up the Bible verses! Very appropriate for this TN!

UA - Emmanuel: "I got a sister from another Mister and a brother from another mother.... and they're in love with each other. How messed up is that?"

I definitely read that...then rapped it...then rapped it again dancing around the room.

(DJ HellaShelle spinning works by the Patio Peeps! The album, "Caray!Caray!" coming to the Naughty Melon in 2016!)

DJ HellaShelle - do you do Bar Mitzvahs?

Lila, great recap! Wow, so many opinions this weekend. HellaShelle, you are one funny lady. Steve, I hope you are right about Sev and Cande, I pray they go to hell, hand in hand.

Rosemary Primera

Under the heading of All Things Considered, by the time this is over Sev and Candela will be each other's hell. But that's not good enough.

I have to update the Karmageddon list with this latest one.

Lila---DVR problems? How can that be when the recap is word perfect? You had me hanging on every word.

Over the weekend Several were saying that Cande's latest trick could not work because the patio peeps were busy doing a Roberta/Sev timeline and what Cande was asserting just did not pan out. I didn't pay any attention to the technical analysis
because I have seen enough novelas to know that using technical analysis and common sense or just plain ole reality often is not used in novela story plots. Cris and Donnie have to be separated so that they both will suffer a great deal of anguish while thinking of their love for each other all the time unknowingly moving toward an even greater love when it is all over and both are living in blissful harmony.

So, I knew that Candy's plot would do the trick no matter how lame her plot was. The BIG question is---where do we go from here? Will Cris marry Vile and accept Lardo's baby as his? This could very well happen as the door for Vile is now open as it is for Renato also.

I will love to see Pru get hers but that is probably a long way off. In the meantime though, I will be right front and center because this is definitely must see tv.
the gringo

Lila this is so good and loved the chomp chomp! My kind of reading.

Dammmit it all to hell, blood shot right outta my eyes at the stupidity. First, because the show insulted our intelligence, stepping so far over, and the last nail for me regarding Aldonza. She doesn't act like a girl in love at all and bolts with way to much frequency. Oh, I wanna set Cris free to go be with that bitch Val. Is this some kind of sick test? Cris, time and time and time again, keeps chasing that squirrel. Dude, just stop it and let Renato deal with the nut.
Agree, Renato should recuse himself but also understand why he doesn't because she is the one that wants him in orbit. I'm with Cande and if I had a son would want him no where near that walking, slobbering mess. She is her mothers daughter, of that, there is no doubt.

Hell yes PJ, I bet you were always picked first for dodgeball and want you for Mayor of SL.

Sara- As long as the patio keeps turning out lyric worthy quotes ;)

Someone pointed out in an earlier recap that this TN often gives us a crazy preview, but resolves that issue quickly while bringing on other surprises. I sure hope that's the case with this issue, but since it's so annoying, it'll probably be around for a while. And if it is replaced, it'll be because the drunken Cris does (or thinks he does) get horizontal with Val and gets trapped in a Pregnancy Scheme. Sigh.

I'm curious to see how things pan out with Simoneta. Where will she go? Does she have any money of her won? I'd love to see her get on board with the Dream Team. If she had been more affected by Sev's abuse, I'd have thought she and Al might have bonded over it, but she seems to have brushed it off.

I'm surprised Mari was that excited for the date. I didn't think she'd want to go out so soon, I thought she'd ask Eman to just come over and talk or hang out for company.

Mari just seemed like she wanted to get out of that house. I can't blame her.

hellashelle - I am thinking the same thing! I am hoping this DNA brain fart gets resolved quickly and someone whether it be PJ or maybe Silvia once she gets wind of what's going on points out the obvious - that Al/Cris can just test their DNA against each other or even have Al get tested against PJ since he is Ray's brother. However, I worry that Cris will take Aldonza's estupido advice and run to Val before her Houston trip and of course have sex with her which will result in a scheme to pass the baby off as his creating the angst needed to keep Al/Cris apart for who knows how long and keep me banging my head against the wall as I watch it all unfold.

Maybe we should actually hope that they stick with the DNA test separation thing for a while, because as soon as one problem gets resolved for our young lovers, a worse one pops up.

If Aldonza is such a slut, shouldn't Cande be shocked that she and Cris haven't done anything yet? Especially considering that they are legally married AND spent the night together in a hotel in D.F.

What would Cande have done had Cris said, "Yes, we've had sex. And not only that, she's pregnant!"?

Great point, Vivi!

Aldonza is impulsive, but she is most definitely not a slut. The problem is that Candela doesn't want to know that. She will invent anything to separate our Romeo and Juliet. She clearly didn't think this one through, as Sev pointed out to her.

This should have an incredible domino effect, but with 66 more episodes to go we will be stalled on this one just long enough to find it annoying. I am deeply disappointed in the writers, as the writing has mostly been very smart so far.

Vivi - I would've laughed so hard if that had happened! Such an outtake moment. That's such a good question! Sev probably would've been racing Val to Houston with Aldonza tied up in a trunk; mired in guilt, Cande would pull another baby stealing scheme and send the kid off to who knows where BUT Aldonza, being as impulsive as she is, probably would've up and left in the middle of the night to raise the kid by herself (and by "by herself" I mean with Aunt Adelina in tow). PJ would've found out and rained hellfire down on the Mendozas.

That actually would've been a better story than what I suspect we will get.

UA - Yeah, people like to listen to what they already believe. No hay peor ciego que el que no quiere ver, right. Now, I'm curious as to what your domino effect would be. I'll need to entertain myself which the patios more brilliant ideas if we get the usual TN tropes in the coming weeks.

When Cristobal recovers from his drinking binge tonight he will have to realize that there is much more to this. His parents are working 25 hours a day to keep him away from Aldonza since before she left SL and they drop this one on him NOW? He already knows that this doesn't make any sense.

He has never noticed how his sperm donor looks at her. Nobody seems to have noticed this (and shouldn't Renato have seen this at the engagement party from hell?) and it's time someone did. Maybe it will be Emmanuel or Padre J, who will definitely notice and want to do something about it.

If Aldonza tells Renato about having been raped without ID'ing Sev, he might figure it out. That would be the one thing that would keep her from consummating the marriage to Cristobal. The question then becomes whether he would do anything about it. He may have it in his head to take her back to DF in the hope she would ultimately marry him, but Silvia knows this will not work.

Somebody needs to tell Padre J. Maybe that will be Cristobal, who would have to explain the failure to consummate. Padre J can figure out the missing pieces to that one.

More to follow on this, but maybe not until tomorrow.

He mentioned that to Cande and got her lame response. He's right, you would think when he cancelled his wedding to pursue her, his mother would've mentioned that she might be his sister. Or when they were walking around a funeral, kissing.

Even if someone's noticed Sev's leering, he leers at every female that passes in his line of sight, so maybe no one's thought anything of it. Now, if Aldonza had ever cringed away from him in fear/disgust, maybe someone would wonder, but so far she's been bravely facing him hed on, if shaking with anger/disgust(/fear).

omg, wouldn't it be AMAZING if Lulu overhead Sev confessing to the rape?! OMG, I so want Lulu to break that secret open now!!!

I love Camilo. Dude is pragmatic.

I think the writers wrote the wrong character with the DNA-stupidity gene. Chris seems to be the first one who at least suggested it. But no, we have Allie, with a supposed honors degree in agriculture acting all what does it matter, what is it sort of thing. She didn't say that, but you get my drift. Now let me just state that especially now in any major university ( and I don't think Mexico would be different) part of agricultural studies is the tech aspect which basically is the study of agricultural DNA and the use of biogenetics in food. Allie should have this implanted as a possible solution in her brain and her just going with "just divorce me from him already" seemed more to me an excuse again to sabotage this marriage herself. Again, WHY WHY WHY is this poor girl not seeking help and why isn't Ade encouraging her to do that. Either that, so piss Allie off, tell Padre J and have him talk to her about getting counseling. Rant over.

And yes, Cris needs to go back to basic math and start adding his 2 + 2 = Something is rotten in Denmark. Two smart kids, I feel like we are now just getting these brain fog moments to elongate the plot. Doesn't seem true to the people we met at the start.

Bur lordy, I agree, Cris had me just wanting to reach into that screen last night. He's such a gorgeous crier. Holy Moly. He does that again, I'll spring for the box of kleenex at the cougar table.

Daisynjay

Susanlynn - Camilo was awesome last night. Very pragmatic and sensible.

Lila-you done good girl, don't fret you hit the major spots.

I'm fixin to rant, I knew they was going to drag it out dadgummit. all that black hearted candy wanted to do was plant the seed of doubt and she planted it deep. that girl done gone and got herself an annulment. Yeah there was a spark of joy in renny's eyes but its gonna be short lived.

I loved the way padre J didn' t back down. He and adeline seem to be the only ones with some guts to stand up to these bitches.

These two people just don't seem to have any fight in them. When is cris going to start to really guestion his so cslled upstanding parents. Isn't he suspicious about anything he's seen in that town?
Why dosen't he say, "BABY LET'S GO AND GET OUR OWN DNA TEST. Wouldn't that be the smart thing to do? I'd do that, wouldn't yall do that?.
Like I said before, they'll drag it out for effect.
And it's effectin the hell out of cris and ally. Good thing they'll have a happy ending, cause if not, I don't think I'd want to watch any more of it.
And theres airhead pru. The nerve of some people. I won't waste any more energy on my keyboard with my finger talking about her.
Ok done ranting for now.

Nina

Gracias tanto, Lila! That's a damn good recap any night of the week, but especially on a crappy DVR night!

"Not one to be bothered with thinking things through when a dramatic display of emotion and fleeing are an option, Aldonza chooses the latter: she wants to be alone!" I was watching this in the morning, or there would have been booze. Otra vez, Aldonza!

"He looks Cande up and down with disdain (yes, I know peeps) and spits that he never knew she was so perverse!" Ha! He's just jealous 'cause he thought he was the only one in the family. Be afraid, Sev. Be very afraid.

"Cris is the prettiest crier I've seen since Fernando (Jaime Camil) in LaFea!" Gotta hand it to him. As much as I want to talk some sense in to him, he sure does cry pretty!

I think part of Silvia's plan with Flavia is to only give her a little money so she'll keep calling him for more and he has more chances to convince her to let him see Ray.

"I know it's late and we may not get into this til tomorrow, but what do y'all think about Donnie's unilateral decision to annul?" Hell if I can remember what I've thought of her previous unilateral decisions, but if I was pissed off before, I'm super pissed off now! Screw it. She doesn't deserve Cris if this is the way she's going to behave all the time. She's forgetting that it's "My way OR the highway" which means he's got options.

I'm hoping for some more reason from Renato. I actually thought he might bring up the idea of suing Sev to get the DNA from him, or...I think maybe they can just test Cris and Aldonza (aha, I see others have had the same thought!). Maybe he needs to go back to The Law Offices of Scooby and Scooby (who came up with that one?) and do some research. Yeah, I'm an optimist. I'm telling myself that he's just saying he'll work on it and he's going to try to talk sense into her later since she doesn't appear to be listening now. I will admit, if there was a hopeful look I didn't see it because every time Aldonza opened her mouth my eyes started to roll.

Annnnnnd that's the end of my break. Catch y'all tomorrow :)

LOL! Nina! wow. They really got you upset!

Cris did question it and immediately wanted a DNA test. I don't think it's dumb that they're gobsmacked, but I think it's nuts that Aldie just wants to drop everything. No seeing what's needed for a DNA test? No asking someone who was there before Adelina? No talking this through with Cris? This girl is not ready for marriage! Between running at ever obstacle and not talking things over with her principe azul, she's got me back at the table of "why am I supposed to be cheering for this couple again?"

Daisy - SUCH A GOOD POINT!!! I forgot what Aldie majored in (since she's never used or even demonstrated it). Ren might be able to get away with claiming ignorance, but you're right, Aldie should have a basic enough understanding of DNA to know that other relatives can establish (or un-establish) the link between her and Cris.

Honestly, it's going to have to be someone stealing E's DNA to make this one plausible. Aldie can only be in shock for so long. And Cris! Just steal your dad's and your wife's DNA and get your own test! And then maybe you should get a annulment and come to the patio; there are a lot of women willing to fight for your beautiful self at various table! ;)

Lila,
Thank you so much for the great recap! I had to speed-read it at work, and all the great comments too.

I was puzzled why Chris and Ald didn't just go for DNA tests but guess what? I looked it up and seems like it's not possible accurately to predict relationship between different-sex siblings. Still, hair out of Sev's hairbrush ought to do it.

J in Oregon

Hey, y'all! Shout out and thanks to Urban, no probs, Urban. I'm flattered you thought Eli wrote this! Thanks, Rosemary Primera, gringo, Susanlynn and, tofie! I think we are all on the same page with our brain dead "lovers"! Excellent point about Aldonza having an ag degree! What the. . .and she doesn't know about DNA!

Daisynjay, come on over to the Cougar Table, honey! Renato AND Cris are going to need comforting when Aldonza gets through with them!

Nina! Thanks, Girl! Love your righteous rant! Too bad they've dumbed down these smart kids but I guess they couldn't think of anything more creative to keep the lovers apart. DUH! Then have them TOGETHER fighting the obsessed, lying, conniving momma and the sexually perverse and violent daddy.

How much y'all bet Cande's going to go running to Val telling her Cris and Donnie didn't do the do?" That was SO perverse her asking that. And yes, Vivi, somebody needs to ask Cande, "Cognitive dissonance much?" Aldonza's supposed to be this big slut but has not slept with her precious Cris. Remember back in the day Cande and Pru were saying that Aldonza was relieving Cris of his innocence during the huerto fire. Cande is seriously sick with her obsessive hatred of Aldonza: it's as if she thinks Aldonza IS Roberta. Her questioning Cris about his sexual activities is just the limit. Did she ask him if he slept with Val?

Ok. I've got to stop talking about that. Pisses me off!

Go Padre J and Adelina. Padre, please ask for some special Divine Protection for Adelina: she has tempted Satan and we know what happened to Padre Sixto for planning to out Sev's sexual malconduct!

Sara! Thank you for the Bible verses, indeed! How beautiful they were and how they fit our story, yet how the fall from Grace fit Tomas and the shameless hypocrite, Pru. With Lardo not around, there are no brakes on these two!

And yes, they're trying to make us like Maaaariiiii!

J in O- You mean the writers might actually have it right?! Ok. I won't be so hard on them or the characters then.

During LQLVMR we established that you need more than hair to determine paternity. You need either a hair with a follicle that was just pulled out or you need a blood sample. So hairs from Sev's comb won't do the trick. He needs to cut himself shaving or someone needs to do the trick that happened in EPdA when Ana Joaquina deliberately cut her son's finger to get some blood on a cloth napkin.

Cristobal should never have told his boundary-proof mother that they never did the deed. He should have told her to mind her own business, which does not include his love life.

Hey, Diva! Thank you, Girl! 'Preciate it! Diva, this girl is workin' my nerve I'm telling you what. Cut and run! That's all she does!

Diva, Cris's helpless, plaintive declarations of love, his eyes softened with tears, his face weakened just enough to suggest "surrender" yet not distorted into an unattractive grimmace! Lawdy! Umph! Umph! Umph! I takes my pleasure where I can in this piece and THAT did my heart good! Thanks to you and Hellashelle for clarification on the bank plot!

A lot of us feel this way about her unilateral decision to divorce Cris: I'm super pissed off now! Screw it. She doesn't deserve Cris if this is the way she's going to behave all the time.

if there was a hopeful look I didn't see it because every time Aldonza opened her mouth my eyes started to roll. HA! See ya tomorrow Diva! Go kill 'em with your directing, girl!

Amen, Sister:

And Cris! Just steal your dad's and your wife's DNA and get your own test! And then maybe you should get a annulment and come to the patio; there are a lot of women willing to fight for your beautiful self at various table! ;)

Thank you, J in Oregon! I know how it is trying to hang out on the patio at work so I am especially appreciative. I hope you get to stop by again before the time runs out on discussing the coo coo antics of this episode! And thank you for this: I looked it up and seems like it's not possible accurately to predict relationship between different-sex siblings. Color me gobsmacked and a little embarrassed!

Oh, that's Hellashelle I quoted above. Yah! The Cougar Table is rockin'

;D

Lila..thanks for this excellent and clever recap.I also enjoyed all the comments.

My friend is a Spanish teacher, and she gets a big giggle out of my obsession with these Mexican telenovelas. Yesterday, I met her and two other friends for a three hour lunch. We all have tekenovela lives, so I suggested that we combine our life stories into one and comoose a telenovela. Since three of us are watching/reading the ''Outlander'' series, one friend suggested that we entitle our novela''Outlandish.'' I said that my character's name would be Aldonza...but I changed my mind because I do not want to be named after a character as dim as our Aldonza.

Oi, you're right Lila. Cande will be riding that broomstick right to Val's door. Perfect setup to get the guy drunk ( sort of like he is already) and then pop "we did it and you're the baby daddy" schtick on him. I said it before, Cande actually helps with that set-up, she better not get a chance at redemption because that is just sick. Oh, this hurts we are going this trite and ridiculous route. Honestly, are writers just that lazy to keep bringing out this stuff?

So we can't use hair, though gees kid, go up to Dad give him a big hug and then yank some fresh strands. or better yet...smokes. Little saliva on the butts should do it.

Forgot to say when they kept showing Flavia getting her cash, anyone else think something was going to happen to the little guy? Walk away because her leering boyfriend wasn't watching, hit by something....Somehow that child needs to be separated from the mother so Joaquin gets custody back.

I shuttered with Ade confronting Sev. First, why bother. Second, not smart. Third, foreboding...

Daisynjay

Susanlynn, I bet you what you guys come up with would be 10 times better than TeleRisa's BEST offering! I should giggle at myself for this obsession. I'm so devoted and all they do is drive me crazy!!!!

Oh, this hurts we are going this trite and ridiculous route. I know, Daisy! That's what I'm talking about above! Why do I do this to myself!!

Yah, Flavia turned out to be a floozy! No wonder she was always raggin' on poor Jock! Yes! Get little Ray back to his daddy! Not because she "just" possibly committed adultry, but I think she could end of being inattentive/neglectful of little Ray while running after Hot Adriano!

DnJ I'm with you "seemed more to me an excuse again to sabotage this marriage herself". Not only does Aldonza do nothing to bring them together or keep them together she looks for any little reason to bail. If she hadn't pulled that passive/agressive crap, telling him to go have a happy life with Val, perhaps I'd feel sorry for the broken girl. Naw, she's miserable and wants Cris to be miserable too. I think she gets off on everybody coddling her and tiptoeing around trying not to make any loud noises. Shhhhhhh

Ok, I'll back down on the writers somewhat in light of the revelation that sibling tests are not conclusive. HOWEVER, I still maintain that they should still do one, that yanking hair out of Sev's head or stabbing him (ok, withdrawing blood) should happen, that they should ask Cande to help with the DNA test so that they can at least determine which genes Cris got from her vs from Sev, that they should exhume Ray's body because yes this is that serious! or as Diva suggested, that they should sue Sev for his DNA. They must be able to take someone to court for something like this, especially since they're legally married. (Can we call a Mexican lawyer on this? Pato seems like the least busy of the legal trio, call him up). There are so many alternatives that I'm just mad that she's just given up before even trying!

LILA-GOOD Catch."her questioning Chris about his sexual activities is just the limit, did she ask him if he slept with Val?" No cause that hefer know that val IS a slut, thats why she sent her after her son. She knows aldonza isn't like that, shes taking out her hatred for roberta on ally.
Like someone said farther up, she wouldn't be upset if she found out that sev raped ally she'd be upset that she's married to a rappist. She's probably more twisted than sev. He better sleep with one eye open and his one arm free so he can fight that bitch off. We're thinking sev is the slime at the bottom of the barrel its probably miss cande. O course he is, shes that stuff under the slime. Yall we are really hatin on these people. if they could feel it they'd be all beaten and brused. Tonight should be a doosy.

Nina.

Great tears cris. Telenova characters were always good at crying real tears. Some folks are just good at crying on que. Later patio peeps.

Nina

GUYS!!!

SCHOOL IS OFFICIALLY OUT FOR SUMMER!!!!!!!!

Woo hoo!

I am going to try very hard not to be a random comment bomber (which, um, I'm kind of doing now.) It can get annoying when someone keeps running through the patio screaming "WORD!" or "YES!" or just busting out with maniacal laughter. It's like having a streaker that keeps crashing the party. No one wants that.

So I will try to make cogent comments that add to the conversation.

The comments are hot and heavy today. DNA,DNA,DNA---Well Sev won't give it---what can we do? Oh my, I know, we will just have to annul the wedding. WHAT!!

Don't you guys know that in just about every novela the leads start out smart or acquire knowledge and smarts along the way and then for some unknown reason, either one or sometimes both, can't make a single right decision? Well we have it here again. This is nothing new in novela land.

I like what Lila said that Aldonza was the town slut rumored to be sleeping with just about everyone including Cris but now after they were married, they never did the deed. WHAT!! Well, like I said, all smarts have been lost and so that question will never come up.

And speaking of DNA, Donnie has three lawyer friends to tell her (if she didn't learn it being head of her class) about DNA.

Val off to abort the babies? Not on your life. By tonight she will have Cris right where she wants him and Cris will be the father with both Bruja Cande and Satan Sev
both beaming from ear to ear.

As I mentioned earlier, there are scenes in most all novelas where correct decisions
just cant be made and modern technology seems to be non existent. In one past novela, people needed to be contacted and everyone sat wringing their hands as to what to do? Cellphone anyone?

Urban---Maybe this modern technology or lack thereof could be a topic for one of your fabulous weekend discussions.

Nina, you killin' me, girl! He better sleep with one eye open and his one arm free so he can fight that bitch off. We're thinking sev is the slime at the bottom of the barrel its probably miss cande. O course he is, shes that stuff under the slime.

Ha Ha Ha!!!

YAAAAY, SARA!!! Right on! Now you can hang out on the patio for days and give us all your witty insights and the cool research you do!! You are not bombinb, girl! You are a recap warrior so you've got a right to run through the patio bearing witness and laughing maniacaly (sp?)

Gringo, man, love your reality checking you do for us but it never tempers your enthusiasm! You go, man!

That little receptionist that's in humbertos office, she's probably heard so many secrets and she's just keeping them to herself, until time when she will probably explode. And all the right people will hear it. of course I'm just guessing or speculating, but WHAT IF!!!!!
Well a girl can dream can't she?

Nina

Nina- I've often wondered if Blanca, Hum's receptionist, will get her own story. She seems so nice and normal. She's very pretty too.

That's her name, Vivi! Couldn't think of it for the life of me. Great point, Nina, about the secrets she must've heard. Ok. Had a phone call and my DVR seemed to have worked. Off to watch tonight's episode!

It's a humdinger, and thats all I'm saying.

Nina

Oh, I recognize myself as that random comment bomber. Lo siento!!

NOOOO!! emeraldrose!! It's not you!! I swear I was berating MYSELF!! I admire the thoughtful, intelligent comments of others and I have comment performance anxiety.

I also consider myself a comment bomber when I post a comment and then immediately post again (and again and again) because I keep forgetting things.

Don't you dare think you are a random comment bomber!!

See? I"m comment bombing again because I forgot to say that I hope you see this!

What da hell! I am truly annoyed about this dna thing. I have watched this tn from the start and beginning to say that it is worth like AV. But now the writers are starting with their stupidities.
Since these are not true people, can I wish for Sev and Cande to get their anvil early? why don't they just die in order for Cris and Aldo to be happy. I blurted this aloud and my husband just laughed.
So now the tn usual routine will follow. Bet Val can now lure Cris who will be dead drunk and claim paternity.
I am also for the Padre/tio and Aldo dna route to prove Cande's lie.
I dvr'd the tonight show and will watch it early morning. Cant wait for our predictions guys. Ooh, just love everybody's rant. My blood is boiling too. Anne

AB as in Amor Bravio. sorry.Anne

Is anyone else seeing a wonky comment box? It's longer than usual, has no preview comment option and on mobile devices (like my phone and tablet) the "you can use some HTML" is actually in the comment box making it extra fun to post a comment. And on mobile devices I have to hit "publish" twice before it will publish.

Yep, Sara. Noticed the weird box yesterday morning. I post on Firefox, don't know what it looks like on IE or other browsers. Maybe this is an update that's still evolving!

o_O

Yes, Anne, we all could slap several SL residents silly! We know they'll do this to us but we remain hopeful and then are left head-banging.

Maybe the Naughty Melon should sell helmets.

;p

Testing the "a" tag. This is without it. Let's see what it does.

This is with it.

Jeez. It didn't do anything! o_O

The a also needs some extra code. It's used for hyperlinking.

It can do this.

< a href="URL">some text < / a >

Had to put some spaces there so blogger would accept it, but that's the syntax. E-mail me if you need more explanation. :-)
