Abelardo: The bad seed La Sombra Del Pasado #25 03/23/2015

Okay this will be quick and dirty but here we go!

From last week: Prudencia asks for a divorce and Humberto is all like "k", she seems surprised that he would react that way.

Last night: Prudencia made it home and is crying to Valeria that Humberto has agreed to a divorce, she's sure he is seeing someone else, and when Valeria tries to tell her that her dad is not that kind of man Prudencia tells her she knows nothing about the private things that go in in their marriage.

Chris and Abelardo have a mini showdown, Chris tells Abelardo that his gossip accomplished nothing and that he and Val are still super together, Lardo leaves in a huff and runs into his dad, who just wanted to stop by and say "hi"-Uriel wonders if Lardo is having issues with Chris and Lardo gives him major attitude, ugh Lardo is such a pill.

Uriel eventually makes it to his office where he meets with Humberto and gives him the bad news: the loan is a no go and the lands are not enough to help secure the loan. Humberto wants to know if Uriel has been talking to Severiano, Uriel can neither confirm nor deny meeting with Satan. Humberto calls him on the shady dealings and stalks off.

He then goes to see Sev and accuses him of being behind the loan being denied, Sev says he had nothing to do with it and again tells Humberto he wants the lands back in his hand (hehee, get it?)- he tries to sweet talk Humberto into giving him back the lands but nope, Humberto is not giving them up.

Aldonza gets a phone call, someone wants to meet with her.

Padre Jeronimo is off playing detective, he is searching through the birth records of children born in town to see if any of them could be Roberta's long lost baby.

Valeria and ice queen have a lunch date.

At the local restaurant Aldonza is meeting with Humberto who tells her he will rent her the house-if she agrees to prepay a years worth of rent. Aldonza agrees, and just as they shake on it Valeria and Candela walk in and of course Valeria starts a scene- she accuses her father of having an affair with Aldonza and then slaps her, Aldona keeps calm and Cande and Valeria leave after Humberto tells Valeria that she is wrong and that she is embarrassing him.

Humberto then apologizes to Aldonza and tells her she behaved like a lady, Aldonza wants to know if the deal is still on and he says it is on, now more than ever. She tells him that she does not want to cause him any problems with his wife and he over shares and tells her that he and Prudencia have been having issues for many years. Aldonza tells him he is nicer than she expected and he tells her he does not have a nice bone in his body, Aldonza excuses herself and leaves.

Candela and Valeria arrive at Val's house and spread their venom, they imply that Aldonza and the good Doc have something going on and that Aldonza is using Humberto to get the lands her family owned back, Prudencia says "Humberto is not that stupid...no, he is that stupid" and then she starts to cry.

Maria and Irma are having a chat, Mari is being a brat and says that Emmanuel will be hers, even if she has to take him from Lola, Irma tries to reason with her but has zero luck.

At the hacienda Melesio asks Abelardo to take a horse into the stalls, Lardo gets mouthy and totally disrespects Melesio, Emmanuel comes to the rescue and punches Lardo in his big fat mouth. The fight is broken up and when Emmanuel turns his back Lardo picks up a stick and hits him in the back of the head. Then he runs away. That's a bitch ass move Big Bird.

The workers take Emmanuel to the big house and into Chris's room, Humberto is called and he arrives a while later, he is concerned that there might be internal bleeding.

Padre Jeronimo has arrived back home and tells Adelina that he found nothing, nada, zero, maybe the baby was registered in another town but he vows to find her...and then we flash over to Emmanuel and do any of you doubt he's the lost baby? Cause I don't.

Humberto sits next to Emmanuel on the bed, he tells him that he needs to pull through, life has been very unfair to him and he still has a lot to learn and a lot to teach them. Emmanuel wakes up and that's good news! Humberto goes downstairs and updates everyone, Emmanuel is awake and that means no internal bleeding (really?) he wants Emmanuel to spend the night but Cande does not want that to happen, the boy needs to go AWAY. Chris is the voice of reason and says Emmanuel can stay, after all Humberto will be staying to look after him.

Aldonza updates Adelina, she tells her they will be getting back their house and then the lands. Adelina is worried that perhaps Humberto is taking advantage of Aldonza but Aldonza tells her he is not, if they pay the rent for a year they wont have to worry about anything else.

Lola is sad because Emmanuel never showed up, she walks into the church and bumps into Padre J, she tells him she feels something is missing, like she needs someone in her life, she loves her grandparents but they are old and they just don't understand her. Then she tells Padre J that she does not even know where her parents bodies are, the wheels start turning and Padre J wants to know how old she is. She tells him that she's just a bit younger than Aldonza.

Padre J comes home and tells Adelina that Roberta's daughter could be closer than they imagined, she could be Lola!

I look forward to it!

I CAN'T WAIT!!!

CANNOT WAIT!

Add me to the chorus of looking forward to it Eli.

Poor Emmanuel!!!

Diana

I know it's impossible, but Lardo acts more like Sev's offspring than Cris or Emmanuel. What a jerk.

I loved it when Pru said she would ask for a divorce and Hum's reply was " where do I sign?"

Im looking forward to it too and i am glad you got your Internet connection back since Internet is today like Air to us. I was wondering if you could do Episode 44 of QPD ,not now but in a few days perhaps on Thursday.

As for Lard i kind of hate him ,he is not even that interesting for me but i like the actor altough i have not seen him before. And im liking Uriel ,he seems to be the only person who gets obeyed in the house. Mary should take a hike to Sev and remind him that they 're Casados as well and Sev should tell her in a devilish voice " Its just a novela sweetpufs ,just a novela" !

Did anyone see the advances? Did
Aldonza rent the property? That look that Sever gave her and she gave back to Sever didn't look good. Big trouble ahead?

Coward Lardo hits Manuel from behind. I hate that guy.

I know it wasn't done unintentional, but really irritated me that Emmanuel gets pulled off and his friends are restraining him, but nobody was watching coward Lardo (they know he 's bad). Anyways they restrain Emmanuel to give Lardo the opportunity to cause him more harm. He could have been stabbed to death because his friends decided to restrain him. Dont they get it?? You dont restrain a good guy, and not the bad guy!!! With friends like that... Who needs enemies???

And I know it's just a show, but I cringed when they took him up to the bedroom. I always feel like they should wait for the doctor to arrive before moving anyone.

I know it wasn't a back injury, but still....

And AMEN, Novella lover!

Totally agree, restrain THE BAD GUY, idiots!

Gringo, well, Humberto agreed to rent her the property, but nothing has been signed and no money has exchanged hands, so we'll see if it happens. Severiano, Candela, Valeria and Prudencia are all against it and one (or all) of them will surely do something to prevent it.

Yes, they are idiots. Lardo runs away and Manuel is left laying there unconscious. The only good that might come out of it is that Manuel might have sweet Lola to look after him for a while.

Cannot wait for a wonderful relaxing recap.

I so wanted to be Hum caring and hugging Emmanuel to be better. Sorry, total inappropriate, but a girl can dream can't she? Lardo's anvil is growing as we speak--jerk.

My favorite moment - watching Seve smiling as Cande was going off about Emmanuel staying upstairs. Talk about the cat that ate the canary. If I needing any convincing he was taking especial pleasure at HIS SON being in the house, that did it. That look was outrageous and Alexei nailed that scene with nary a word.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay": "That look was outrageous and Alexis nailed that scene with nary a word". I enthusiastically agree! The villain we love to loathe.

Cande was fit to be tied, wasn't she? Snort. Love it.

Diana

Local Univision was having some internal freakout last night to start and they didn't show Emmanuel getting hit, only resumed when they brought him into the house. Dammit, that cun....turd Abelardo and now Lola all sad faced. I want details.

Daisynjay, that actor that plays Sev can do more with his eyelids than most actors can do with a page of script.

I wish he weren't so totally beyond redemption, I'm just saying...

J in Oregon

Sara, right, that was my other gripe that they moved and carried him a distance to Chris's room.
It was nice to see Hum cradlin him and calling him son. I don't know how to take that, is he biological Dad just grown to love him as his own?
Because then they show that scene Daisyjay described Sev and his smiling as Emanuel is his son?

Recap is up!

It seemed Humberto revealed he does care for Emmanuel as though he were his own child. I feel he's defended him to Cande and Val, but not staunchly and only half heartedly. I wish he would tell Em to his face. He really needs to know someone cares. Anyone in fact.

Diana

I know I've said this over and over, but I like Humberto...even knowing what he has been a part of.

I think he loves Emmanuel as if he was his own. It doesn't seem like he and Pru have had a happy marriage (that was obvious even from the first episodes.) Val isn't exactly someone to be proud of. It seems he and Emmanuel have put up with a lot of verbal abuse over the years.

And I know it's stupid, but at this point I am really beginning to wonder who the dead baby is. Even the Padre seems confused!

oOO! Recap is up! off to read!

...Uriel can neither confirm nor deny meeting with Satan.

KAPOW!! Snark homerun!

Eli, you covered everything perfectly.

"Prudencia says "Humberto is not that stupid...no, he is that stupid" and then she starts to cry" was rather poignant. Pru is not that bright but Cynthia Klitbo is inspired by the way she plays her. Her huge eyes convey so many emotions. Darn, I still wish she were cast as Cande. She would have breathed fire into that icy facade!

Let's save time and put Lardo in the same category as Sev - cannot be redeemed. I've seen enough, anyone who hits someone when their back is turned is a detestable coward.

Aldonza is such grace under pressure. I wish I had her composure at her age. I wish I had it at my age!

Thanks again Eli!

Diana

Sara, I understand what you are saying about Humberto.

Last night I started to feel drawn in by Humberto until I remembered...
he knew about the kidnapping of Roberta's baby and that Roberta was told "she" was dead. And also, do we know for a fact he had nothing to do with Roberta's being unable to conceive after the birth? Even if he had nothing to do with that, he condoned the kidnapping. He can't atone for that - Roberta never knew her child survived.

Diana

Oh, I am so on the Hate Lardo train!!! I can't believe he hit Emmanuel like that. And I agree with those that cringed when they moved him, especially because he was hit from behind and lost consciousness. I thought he could've had a back injury. When Hum looked at his hand, I thought it looked grayish and I was like "no! Don't lose your hand! Not like Sev!"

Anyway, the doctor that saw Rob after the birth said that the delivery doctor (Hum) botched it.

Now that Padre Jeronimo thinks that Lola's Rob's baby, it's pretty much a sure thing that it's Emmanuel...right?

I'm on the fence about Roberta's post partum care. I don't think he did it on purpose. I think it was a difficult birth and Hum is incompetent.

Perfection Eli!! I haven't been this excited to watch the next episode of a TN in a long time. Reading through all the doings of last night has me packing up the laptop and heading home to be ready to put my feet back and ENJOY!!

Daisynjay

PS: does anyone else get an Oedipus feeling from this TN? Not in the weird incest way, but in the sense that people trying to thwart destiny only bring it on? I was thinking about this this weekend when I was reconsideering my stance on wanting to get to the lovin' with Cris and Al. So far they've been playing their romance as a no go; Cris is with Vale, Al has other priorities. For me, that makes it plausible that if Cande and Vale didn't keep harping at Cris and Al about their opssible interest in each other, they may very well have stayed away from each other. But since the two villainesses keep mentioning the romance, it actually breathes life into those ashes. Does that make sense?

Eli, I am in awe! That was concise, funny and gave us all the news.

Favorite: when Emmanuel turns his back Lardo picks up a stick and hits him in the back of the head. Then he runs away. That's a bitch ass move Big Bird. Here here!

Yes, Hellashell, they are totalling manifasting what they fear and speak it with their mouths. They are helping draw them together again.
As you said....breathing life yo the ashes."

"But since the two villainesses keep mentioning the romance, it actually breathes life into those ashes. Does that make sense?

Absolutely! Excellent comment hellashelle.

Diana

thank you much Eli

"That's a bitch ass move Big Bird"

All that time pouring over records looking for a female child, PJ gonna kick himself. Maybe.

Uriel - hush, Sev's a frat bro

Humberto - I friggin wish

Abelardo - hit and run scum

Aldonza - iron chin

Pru - maybe I should have used a Thigh Master instead of Jagermeister

Mari - how many hot Emmanuel's we got in this town mom?

Lola - he better have a good excuse or I'll beat him with a stick

Severiano - why don't Cris's little friend stay the weekend and Cande you can make S'mores

Excellent, succinct recap, Eli!

After Val slapped Aldonza, even though Aldonza didn't hit her back, Al had a look on her face like, "Just wait, b*tch. I won't do it here in front of your daddy, but I WILL get you back."

I do not for one moment believe the lost baby is Lola. But Padre and Adelina aren't looking outside of the female gender box, so they have to go from there. One thing you didn't include-- Padre did figure out all on his own that Sever is the baby daddy. That's pretty huge. I thought he accepted the fact that Roberta betrayed his brother with Sever, of all people, pretty well.

Poor Lola. But I'm sure she'll learn why Emmanuel didn't pick her up as soon as she gets home. Will Cande allow her upstairs to tend to Emmanuel? The look on Cande's face when she realized Manny would be staying was priceless. And the look on Sever's face when he saw her face was worth the price of admission. :) I was surprised by how quickly Sever left his tequila business meeting and went home when he heard about Emmanuel. So, he's willing to totally ignore his bastard child his whole life, but he doesn't want him to die? Hmmmm...

That's an interesting thought Vivi.

He's ignored the bastard child but now that Cris is home he may be making comparisons and realizing what an asset to the hacienda Emmanuel is. Has Cris actually done any work?

Humberto is an interesting character because we just don't know what he'll do next. He's a coward with a weak moral compass, but he also has a conscience and he seems to feel things deeply. It was interesting watching him interact with Roberta's kids Aldonza and Emmanuel) last night-- he seems to admire and respect them. Will he step up and do for them what he weakly did not do for their mother?

Eli - thank you for the recap and the snark!

Unless Sev is on the board of directors at Uriel's bank, Uri should not be discussing Humb's financial biz. This former banker hopes this is just a telenovelaland quirk for the sake of the plot!

Tofie - LOL

Yes---I agree that Cris and Aldonza are being drawn together by those that want to keep them apart.

The property has me on pins and needles. Sign the lease now!!! Or will Aldonza's money or check get stolen?

Damn!!! Satan Sever had to see Aldonza meeting with Doc Humberto.
Will the deal be canceled tonight?

My guess is that Lola will have some sweet kisses waiting for Manuel when he recovers. Yes I said sweet kisses because Lola is so sweet. Her eyes flash sunshine.

It's to bad that Mary likes Manuel as much as Lola does. This can't end well. At least Mary isn't as mean as her friend Val.

4 hours to go---4 hours to go.
the gringo

Gringo- Mary hasn't been mean (yet), but she was sounding kind of crazy obsessed last night. Poor Irma and Uriel seem like they'll have their hands full with both of their adult children.

Eli..thanks for that excellent recap.

Hum is weakwilled and lazy but not evil like Sever who has convinced him to do his evil bidding. He always looks just plan tired out which is exactly how i would feel if i bwere surrounded by that bunch..Severed, Pru, Val, and Candycane. Yikes Perhaps as he has aged, his conscious has awakened.

I could not believe that our AL did not return that slap. Has anyone slapped Val..nO???..just me in my head ? AL has been slapped by her mother, Candygirl , and now that beyotch on wheels Valley girl.

Lila..hope that you are feeling better. The girls and I getting better but now hub and daughter have it.

I'm sorry Eli. I forgot to say thank you for the recap. I am so anxious for Aldonza to move back into her old house that I just forgot.

I am so into this show. Like La Malquerida I can barely wait from one episode to the next.

Eli, thanks for a thorough recap that was also funny.

Tofi, another hilarious list.

Whew, what a day!!! If Emmanuel is indeed Roberta's child, she must be stirring crazy as her children are being unjustly persecuted by these ugly and mean people of santa Lucia.
Aldonza must be the most slapingest person of the tn land. Her mom, Cande and Valeria and maybe to come yet, Prudencia. I feel so sorry for her.
I wonder how she can rise up from the ashes of her mother's reputation. And how to get back to these people.
Can't wait too! See ya later. Anne

Anne- Don't forget that Sever slapped her too when he raped her.

Maybe we should keep a list of all the people who slap Aldonza.

Doris- We totally should.:) 14 minutes till the show starts!

I can't believe Humberto sent the ambulance away because Emmanuel woke up. Seems to me that he WANTS Emmanuel to stay there, just to bug the hell out of Sever and Cande.

FINALLY getting to sit down and watch the episode and read the recap. Gracias tanto, Eli! I know it's been mentioned, but "That's a bitch ass move Big Bird" was one of my favorite lines.

Now I'm regretting watching because I'll only have to leave for rehearsal in another hour and I'll be wishing I was at home watching the episode instead!

If you expressed any of the following opinions, know that I am with you...

-OMG, the dude got hit and is bleeding from the head! Don't move him!
-Val and Cande are totally going to drive Cris right into Aldonza's arms.
-Emmanuel is SO "the baby."

Happy rehearsal, Kat!

One thing last night that gave me a bad feeling, Aldonza insisting that they put Adelina's name on the bank account too, in case "something" happens to Aldonza. Adelina didn't like the sound of that either.

It seems like begging for trouble, but at the same time, it's a smart move.

I guess I'm still thinking of LG when Damian got hit by the random car and was the only one with access to all the $$$.

True. It IS a smart move. But that just means something bad is sure to happen.

LOL, something bad is going to happen either way, the way things are going on this show! I would say as long as nobody knows Aldonza isn't the only account owner, she'll be safe, but since Uriel is incapable of keeping things confidential....

It's like in Sortilegio when Max put all his business shares in Maria Jose's name to protect the company from his villainous brother, then Max ends up lost on a remote island for MONTHS, and MJ had to take over the business (with no business experience). In the end, it was smart of Max, but it just ensured something bad happened to him.

I think you're right and it's generally bad luck to put something that actually belongs to you in someone else's name to try to protect it. The thing itself--bank account, business, property--might be safe, but the "real" owner isn't!

Which means there's the possibility for Sev to suffer from the property legally belonging to Humberto. Like having Humberto sell it all back to Aldonza for a peso or something.

Diva - It would be great if Humberto sells it back to Aldonza for un peso. That would be an amazing amends for his part in the pasado.

Someone just needs to give him the idea :D Can you imagine the look on Sev's face?! Humberto is getting so tired of being pushed around I keep thinking he's ripe for a little rebellion, but I guess he's not quite there yet. That's ok. The longer the wait, the bigger the explosion will be!

Thanks, Eli! Smart and snappy!

And Lardo wears ugly t-shirts!

Eli, I think I commented before you posted the recap, nonetheless, thank you for recapping. I really enjoy your writing style, makes for a great read with many chuckles. I see a couple count the hours for next epi. Me, I could watch this tn 24/7!!!

I somehow still can't kick this feeling about there being 2 babies. Because Lola seems right on, but then Emmanuel does too. We will see.

So does that mean that Lola and Emmanuel are siblings (both Severiano's)??

Loving the comments.

Kat, "Humberto is getting so tired of being pushed around I keep thinking he's ripe for a little rebellion, but I guess he's not quite there yet. That's ok. The longer the wait, the bigger the explosion will be!" was great and ITA.

Sara, still chuckling at "Lardo wears ugly t-shirts".

Novella Lover, I think Em is Sev's. I think Lola may be someone's child of someone we're not expecting. Pure speculation.

Lila and susanlynn, hope both of you and your families are all better soon...

Diana

Do I remember correctly that there was some conjecture about Simoneta and Lola having a connection?

You might be right Diana. Maybe she is offspring of someone else. Maybe Irma? Who? Very interesting, writers keeping us on our toes. Her grandparents had worried look when they heard PG was inquiring.

Espera, espera, espera! I know it's tough to wait, but please keep the discussion confined to the episode the recap is for so you don't spoil it for the peeps like me who are just waking up and haven't had a chance to watch last night's episode yet!

And the new one just went up, so go check it out! Another sure-to-be fabulous one from HellaShelle. (Which I swear I posted without reading!)
