La Gata #7 9/9/14- La Amenaza

I had to attend a reception at hubby's office tonight. Luckily, we were able to make a quick appearance and get the heck out of dodge. I'm kind of beat though, so I just watched the episode and this is by no means a complete and "in order" recap. Please fill in the gaps.

La Pelea
While Esmeralda is supposed to be getting coffee for El Italiano, she catches Ines making out with El Garabato (El Doodle.) The two girls get into a huge cat fight. Esmeralda tries to warn Doña Rita that Ines is going to end up sleeping with El Doodle. Does it surprise anyone that Rita takes Ines's side? Rita throws La Gata out of the jacal. Esmeralda spends the night looking for shelter and monologue-ing to her long lost father. She is sure that he is out there somewhere and will return to take care of her. Later, Esmeralda returns and begs to be let back into the hovel. Ines makes her apologize. I seriously cannot wait for Rita's and Ines's anvils. They cannot fall fast enough. Not to mention the Italiano's glee at La Gata being out on the street. Surely this will drive her into his arms and she will be his? Bleeecchh.

La Cena
Pablo and Mariano go out to eat. They talk about Pablo's relationship with La Gata. Mariano thinks it's possible that Rita and La Gata are playing Pablo for his money. Pablo doesn't think so. Esmeralda is an Angel. Mariano thinks Angels are for heaven. The don't exist on earth. Mariano agrees to meet Esmeralda.

La Loca
Fela loses her doll hija, Renata. She thinks "that awful man" took her away again.

La Duda
Both Rita and La Jarocha plant the seeds of doubt. Neither thinks Pablo is sincere.

La Baraja
Rita reads La Gata's cards again. The same mature man shows up. Surely this is El Italiano, she says. There are also tears, a long road and (this is new) prison.

La Zorra (Pardon my..er...Spanish)
Monica moves in to the house and moves in on Pablo. He goes in for a simple greeting kiss and she goes for the gold. AND PABLO THE IDIOT SAYS "OH. SORRY." Q.T.H? The little **bleep** tells Mariano that she will get Pablo to fall in love with her!

La Culpa
Sooo....when Esmeralda asks (AGAIN) for reassurance and specifically asks "have you let anyone kiss you since we became novios?", Pablo turns a little green.......but doesn't say a word about the kiss. Esme also tells him that Rita has been begging from the El Italiano and now the old Albóndiga (Meatball) is in love with her.

La Golpiza
Pablo heads straight to the Meatball's pizza parlor of perversion. Pablo punches the pervy pie-man. He tells him to stay away from Esmeralda. The Meatball swears he'll kill Pablo.

La Investigación
The prison director wants to hire a PI to find El Silencioso's daughter. El Silencioso would prefer to work on his venganza against Augustin Negrete.

La Recepcionista
Esmeralda found a hideous dress at the dump. She will be wearing it to an interview for a receptionist job Damian told her about.

La Amenaza
But before her interview, Esmeralda meets Pablo on the hill so he can introduce her to Mariano. Unfortunately, El Italiano shows up with a gun.

I am on the edge of my seat, tense
as can be thru every minute of this. I just hate it when these novelas turn dark and now we have Monica and she didn't waste any time "going for the gold." If Pablo is so much better than Octavio as everybody thinks he should have said in a forceful voice---DON'T EVER TRY OR DO THAT AGAIN. UNDERSTAND!? But of course
he didn't.

Oh, Blondie is fake Blondie, Dark
hair roots.

El Garabato [El Doodle] who is this guy and why does Gata care who Ines kisses, They are not sisters. Are they close? I don't think so.

Also---Who is Damian?

I was wondering, last night when
Gata was walking/crawling through the tall grass on the hillside---
Do goddesses legs get mosquito bites or are they immune to earthly things?

Thank you a BIG bunch Sara.

Yes, Sara thank you a big bunch!!! I loved the part where Miss Kitty picked up the cardboard a guy was sleeping under and he yelled at her to get away. But anyway, I have this sense of impending doom that is uncomfortable...and I just wish Miss Kitty's luck would turn around. Just one person buying a lottery ticket would have made me happy. This was a dark episode.

By the way why doesn't Lorenza settle for the heiress Monica marrying her oldest son Mariano? Why does it have to be Pablo?

Hi Sara, I hope your husband's office party was short and sweet: I never liked those situations. Thankfully, I am retired now and don't have to put up with any of that. I want to thank you for recapping this despite your other obligations, and your fatigue. You certainly did a great job.

I hope that el Italiano has as much expertise with a hand gun as I do, which is to say very little.

Gringo, Esmeralda would have been well served to have been dressed in long pants and a long sleeve shirt during her night without protection from mosquitos. On the other hand, I wonder how much protection their shacks provide.

I think that Pablo should have pushed Monica away and told her he wasn't interested in anything like that with her.

So, per the avances, Pablo is shot, so it seems, but lives. Will the Pizza Parlor Pervert be arrested for attempted murder, and convicted?

I completely missed the best scene! I've gone back and added the part where Pablo punches El Italiano. Sorry about that!

gringo- I think you and I are very alike in some ways. When we like a show, we are fiercely loyal. I wish I could share your loyalty to CI, but we've been at the same table for PSMA and now La Gata. And I completely understand your frustration about Pablo. He should have made clear to Monica that NOTHING was ever going to happen between them. Instead he mumbles this lame apology. What?

Damian is the little boy La Gata chased in the park because he wouldn't stop calling her "La Gata" (episode 1). He is Dona Mercedes son (adopted from what I gather.) He's the one that wants to finish his studies and help Esmeralda (episode 5).

I think Esme actually seen Ines as a family member and was concerned that Ines was making a bad choice by making out with El Doodle. I think Esme has a higher estimation of Ines' morality than she should.

J in O- It was a bummer of an episode. As for Mariano and Monica. I'm pretty sure Mariano is more than willing to marry Monica. Lorenza has even said it's a shame Monica isn't interested in Pablo. Unfortunately, Monica has set her sights on Pablo.

I liked the guy under the cardboard, too.

I really wish Esme would swallow her pride and ask Pablo for a little help. Or GO TO FELA'S!!!

Who mentioned that yesterday? Because seriously, that is Esmeralda's best option right now.

David- I share your sentiments about El Italiano's skills with a gun!

Needless to say, I am like gringo anxiously awaiting tonight's episode!

Thank you Sara and no diversion knocks you off your game.

Is prison in the cards for Pizza Man or Pablo?

Esmeralda - don't you just love, love, love the hem on this dress, darling

Pablo - little less talk and a lot more do

Monica - cherry lip gloss and a little tongue

Augustin - by hook or by crook

El Silencioso - way over thinking this revenge thingie

Fela - you need a roommate

Jarocha - lot of men is not the same as lots about men

Virginia - kill em with kindness

Pizza Man - say hello to my little friend

Mariano - shoot him

Ines - you're not my kittys keeper

Sara, I suggested Kitty head to Fela's. She helped and continues to help the woman (mom), found and set her up in the place and it fared much better in the deluge. I'd tell Rita to stick it where the sun don't shine and take my wardrobe and head on over.

Thanks tofie! Esmeralda's loyalty to Rita is a real head scratcher for me, but I'm sure it has to do with some sort of victim psychology.

Gracias, Sara! Your dedication is much appreciated...as is your humor! Some of my favorites were "the old Albondiga," "pizza parlor of perversion," and "pervy pie-man."

Someone yesterday called Agustin "Mr. Lorenza" and I think that was so spot-on that when Silencioso called him by his full name, I had a hard time remembering who he was talking about! The guy is so cowed by his wife that Mr. Lorenza is so much more fitting.

My take on Esmeralda in general is that she's too nice for her own good. She has misguided affection for Rita because Rita took her in, even if it was without love. Rita's pretty much all she has in the world. The devil you know.... I'm looking forward to confirmation that Fela is her mother, because then all bets will (hopefully) be off and Rita can go fend for herself. Esmeralda has no reason to care about Ines, either, but since she sees Ines as a fellow human being, she doesn't want to see her taken advantage of by Garabato and end up with a baby. I tried floating the idea that Esmeralda just doesn't want to be saddled with a baby to take care of, on top of Rita and Ines, but that doesn't fly. She's just too nice. I could likewise propose that because all of Esmeralda's hard work her entire life has been about giving Ines the best of everything they have so Ines can be the one to get an education, Esmeralda doesn't wanting that to end up being for nothing, but again...she's too nice to be thinking that.

gringo, I think you may be on to something. Goddess skin is impervious to everything but dirt and Pablo kisses.

J, I think Lorenza would be fine with Mariano marrying Monica (say that 10 times fast!) but Monica wants Pablo, so it's more like she's throwing Pablo at him than that she's trying to snag her for Pablo.

David, I guess it depends on how bad the wound is...I'm sure if his parents find out, Lorenza will insist on getting the Pizza Parlor Pervert (love it!) thrown in jail for life like Silencioso. If he can keep it from them, Esmeralda will probably come up with some way-too-nice-girl reason why he shouldn't press charges.

tofie, Fela SO needs a roomie!

Does anyone else find it odd that Rita and Fela haven't met yet? Especially with Gata bringing her dinner every night. I think they're trying to save the reveal that Fela is Esme's mother...but by doing that, they've practically confirmed it, to me.

David---I saw the advances last night but in the advances that was shown on Univision a gunshot can be heard but that is all. It didn't show anyone getting shot. I was thinking that maybe the shot went awry.

So Esme sees Ines as a family member and wants to protect her.
Good hearted Esmeralda. [I love Esmeralda's good heart} I would bet that Ines doesn't feel the same way about her. The writers haven't shown us a lot of good in Ines's character.

5ft---You made me laugh this morning. I guess that while goddess shin is immune to mosquito
bites, it doesn't seem to be immune to dirt, grease or kisses.
Go figure.

If Pizza Creep did shoot Pablo, the wrath of the rich will come down on him---or will Pablo's family blame it all on basura Esmeralda?
Must see TV tonight.
the gringo

Thanks gringo! I didn't remember the Avances showing WHO got shot. Now I am even more anxious for tonight's episode.

Kat-I appreciate your dedication as well!!

Now, about Fela and Rita. I can't get a handle on the past here.

Rita seems to know an awful lot about Kitty's parents...shouldn't it follow she also knows a lot about their downfall and who is responsible for it? I guess she doesn't realize WHO Pablo's parents are.

Or have I completely misunderstood the situation?

Thanks so much for fitting a great recap into your busy day. I certainly appreciate your time and talent.

Add me to those who want to see The Catwoman move her few meager possessions to Fela's...and to take sweet Cent with her.

We all new that Blondie was going to come on strong to Pablo. He was too nice to give her push when she put that lipglossed lock on him. ...so predictable.

Speaking of mosquitoes, I found an enormous black in the bathroom sink the other night. Yikes...hub said that he had not seen one that robust since his Navy days in Gulfport !Mississippi. Yikes

I am cringing thinking about the next time that our fake blonde haired blondie "goes for the gold" our wonderful so in love Pablo will wilt like wilted lettuce in a salad on a hot summer
day. I'm not looking forward to seeing Maite in tears.

I agree, Esme should move out. The way Rita treats her, Move in with Fela, it would be a good move and serve Rita right.
the gringo

I can understand Rita not knowing who Pablo's parents are, since she barely knows who Pablo is, and I don't think anyone ever told her his last name. I don't know if Rita is lying to Esme about her parents or if Rita herself doesn't know the whole story. If she's telling the truth--that she was Esme's mother's confidante, that Esme's father was rich and just using her mother, that Esme's mother is dead, that Esme's mother was a famous singer--then it doesn't match up to what we know about Silencioso and Fela. But if she's lying or misinformed, that would make more sense. Silencioso also thinks that his wife and daughter are dead, so if they really are Fela and Esme, then maybe Rita thinks Esme's mom is dead for the same reason Silencioso thinks she's dead. Either Rita and Silencioso are jumping to conclusions, Rita is flat-out lying, or Rita wasn't quite as in-the-loop as she thought she was.

Thanks so much Sara. your recap set the stage for lots of great comments. My favorite quote taken from the comments reflects my own attitude about the characters and the novela in general:

"gringo- I think you and I are very alike in some ways. When we like a show, we are fiercely loyal."

Even when you snark your loyalty shines through.

Sara - Fab recap. I liked how you set it up with headings. My favorite: Pablo heads straight to the Meatball's pizza parlor of perversion. Pablo punches the pervy pie-man.

I too hope Esmeralda and Centavito move in with Fela. Strange that crazy Fela can manage living alone.

I can't see that horrible Rita ever having been a close friend of Fela's. I think Rita simply took advantage when Fela had her downfall. Of course, I’m convinced that Fela is Esmeralda’s mother. Centavito says the two women look alike, and Esmeralda remembers Fela’s “1-2-3” song.

Centavito says the two women look alike, and Esmeralda remembers Fela’s “1-2-3” song.

That reminds me--If both women do that, it makes me wonder how old Kitty was when she was taken from her parents?

OOOPS

And thank you Kat for explaining some things for me. I lean toward Rita being full of hot air.

Sue NY---Yes I am loyal and have been for as long as I can remember. I have often thought and wondered why others aren't nearly so.
the gringo

Niecie....You are right. I cannot see Rita being a close friend to anyone. Rita only uses people. She is a user and an abuser.

If Kitty went to live with Fela , it would be good for both of them. Kitty would be away from Nasty Crazy , and Fela would have someone to look out for her. I have no idea why kitty puts up with Rita's abuse. ....Stockholm Syndrome , perhaps ?

I noticed that Kitty was sporting braids in the previews. Now that was a practical move. Her pretty face was hidden behind that mass of wild hair.

I agree Susanlynn, the hair-in-the-face thing is a bit annoying. Also, as a kid, Pablo was always bugging kid Esmeralda to wash, use shampoo, etc. Seems like as an adult he has turned a blind eye to her dirty face. Or maybe he is just too nice to say anything (unlike Viewerville!)
J in Oregon

Oh yes! I loved the braids! I am assuming there will be a makeover (it's practically mandatory) and I hope her hair gets better and we can see her pretty face.

I have a feeling that if Esme was always going around with a clean face and combed hair she would have more than just Pervtaliano to fight off. Maybe she's subconsciously using that curtain of hair to hide behind, not because she's not pretty, but because she is.

I could buy that. Rita also told her once that if she looked clean, she wouldn't be able to convince people that she needed money.

Anonymous and Kat,,,good points.
