La Gata #20 Friday 9/26/14 La Emoción

Hello students! Welcome to another edition of Sara's Pithy Points. I hope I am not being overly didactic, but the theme of tonight's work is "Emotions." (Note: Events are described out of order and my language may have gotten a little spicy. Please pardon me. And of course, there may have to be some fill in.)

rabia
nf
anger, fury, rage
  • This is what I felt when Pablo arrived at Rita's jacal, only to be met by the likes of the lying Meatball. Lies were lied and Pablo fell for each one.
  • I felt this again when Pablo and Esmeralda saw each other from across the dump. AND HIS COWARDLY AZZ RAN AWAY! Despite La Gata's pitiful cries. Rat bastard.
  • This is surely what Esmeralda felt when she told Jarocha she was going to MAKE Pablo own up to his responsibility and give her children a name.
  • I'm willing to bet it's exactly how she felt when she attended a dinner at the house of Fernando de la Santa Cruz and she saw Pablo across the street.  She darted over there, busted in the front gate (tackling Vero in the process) and told Pablo exactly what kind of cowardly bastard he was.
  • And as if my blood wasn't boiling enough, Pablo was a douchebag and tells yells at Esme that he's going to marry Mónica and has other lines that I couldn't hear for the blood rushing in my ears.
confusión
nf
confusion
  • How I felt when I realized Mariano seems to be one of the few people talking sense in the Martinez Negrete household (if not the entire show.) Isn't he supposed to be the bad guy? Then why is he giving Pablo such good advice like "don't marry Mónica" and "find out the truth"?
alegría
nf
happiness, joy
  • How I felt when Omar brought a letter from Virginia to Carrrlos. He even offered to park and read it to him. Virginia couldn't stop thinking about him in Italy. She wants to continue where they left off, but maybe Carrlos forgot about her?? Carrlos tells Omar that of course he didn't forget about Virginia. Recapper's advice: FF everything else, but watch Pierre Louis in this scene. Watch his face while he looks at the envelope the letter came in. Check him out when the letter is in his hands.
  • I bet Virigina felt this way when Carrrlos told her that no, he didn't have shower of novias falling on him (sounds so much better in Spanish.) Besides, why would he want them if he already had the prettiest one. Virginia is thrilled. They're novios! And Carrrlos kisses her!! Recapper's advice part deux: watch this part, too.
  • The feeling you'll get when I tell you that they have a theme song: Me Encanta. OH, and you'll feel it all over again when I tell you that it's sung by Pierre Louis himself!!!
lástima
nf
pity
  • What I stopped feeling for Mónica. I cut her some slack up until tonight. I can't stand the "I don't care if he doesn't love me. I know I can make him love me" female character trope. Get some dignity, girlfriend. And what the hell was that "Oh, you gave me my place in front of La Gata and that was enough"? Grrrrrr.
alivio
nm (sorry. Couldn't find a feminine noun)
  • El Silencio wants La Gata to move in with him. The Martinez Negrete family done her wrong and she needs to join his League of Venganza. And he plays the "do it for your children" card.
pavor
nm (again, sorry. Couldn't find a feminine noun)
  • This would be Augie when he saw Fernando de la Santa Cruz standing on his lawn defending Esmeralda. Fernando looks very different (20 years in prison will change a man), but Augie is sure it's him. (And I'm pretty sure Fernando knew exactly who he was living next to.)
angustia
nf
anguish, nausea
See: Any scene with Ines and a shirtless Garabato where she slobbers all over him about how much she's loving their life of crime.

frustración
nf
See: every conversation between Metiche Meche and Damián. In tonight's edition Meche thinks Fernando will end up crossing some sort of line with Esmeralda since she's so pretty (See: MariMar and Sr. Aldama circa 1994.) She's even going to talk to him about it! Which leads us back to....

.....ALIVIO . Fernando notes her misgivings but basically tells her to butt out. He's going to do what it takes to convince Esme to move into Venganza Central. But we are still left with....

...FRUSTRACIÓN when we are taken back to the dump where Esme is refusing to move in with El Silencioso. Jarocha (Another character with sense...so that brings us up to....2??? Just 2??? Oh, wait, El Silencioso makes 3....) is trying to convince her to accept El Silencioso's offer when the Rey de Roma knocks on the door.)

Avances
  • El Silencioso discovers the Esme/Rita connection. Was that "Esme is my daughter" clip a red herring or the real deal? Must.see.TV!

gringo- I really hope your TV survived.

David and gringo-We may need to ramp up the anvil production. We may need one for Monica.

OMG!!! What an episode tonight. I can't wait to post some of my thoughts---they might not all be correct as I haven't read the recap yet but I just can't wait.

I can't believe all that my eyes saw tonight.

Ok---So Pablum Pan goes looking for Esmeralda and finds the Meatball who I think tells him that Esmeralda is married to him.

Pablum then sees Esmeralda but is too angry to talk to her.
Question---Why wasn't Pablum's car stripped again?

Pablum goes home and is angrily talking to his brother about what just took place and of course, Monica is listening behind a partially opened door.

Ok, ok---If Pablo had talked to Esmeralda instead of meatball and learned the truth, then we wouldn't have a novela for some 80? more episodes.

So Esme and Jarocha go over to the Silencioso mansion and Esmeralda looks across the way and sees Pablo. OMG!!! She's going in. La Gata is loose. What a confrontation with Pablum and all bruja Lorenza can do is yell "I'll call the police--I'll
call the police. Oh shut up you old evil bruja!!!

When Fernando and Damian come to help, Augie realizes that his troubles are only just beginning.

David and Sara---I can't wait for the start of the anvil launch. There will be a party out on the patio that night,.

Virginia finds Carlos and they share their first kiss. So sweet.

What in the world is Ines up to? She's bedding down a new guy.

I heard Silencioso say "mi casa es grande" and it looks like Esmeralda will be moving from her new just acquired garbage dump suite to Silencioso's up-town mansion. That's good but what will become of Principe I ask?

I will start on the recap tomorrow
Am. Sorry if I got some assumptions wrong but I'm so wound up after this episode tonight, I just had to put down a few of my thoughts right away.
the gringo

Nope. Sounds like you got it gringo! The Meatball didn't say they were married, but said they were going to get married. (I think.)

Sara, you nailed it down! Thanks so much. I spent much of the episode gasping in disbelief with my hand over my mouth. Starting with Stupid Pablo believing Meatball's lies, then driving away so fast that he almost ran over that dog. No really. The actor Daniel peeled out so fast that I thought the dog chasing the car was going to be toast.

Gringo, I T A with what you said, all of it. Why, oh why wasn't Pablo asking himself "Why is Esmeralda so angry and accusing me of lying?" I would have been saying "What do you mean, lying?" But noooo....

Bright spot for Viewerville of course was the return of Virginia. Sara, your description of their scene was so sweet, I had to read it twice.

Note: Augie told Lorenza that he would "rather be dead" than have Fernando de la Santa Cruz exact revenge on him. Geez, Augie, maybe your wish will come true.

My wish for Esmeralda: complete makeover and some killer shoes that are all in one piece...then make that Pablo suffer. Yah. And Principe gets to pee on Pablo while he's down.

J in Oregon
(sorry, getting riled up)

"... then driving away so fast that he almost ran over that dog.

I KNOW!!! IT SCARED ME TO DEATH!!!!!

"And Principe gets to pee on Pablo while he's down.

Sidebar worthy!! Yes!!! LOVE IT!!! And then Principe goes and pees on all the rugs in Lorenza's house. That's a smell that's hard to get rid of!

I love that El Silencioso pretty much told Esme, that he was going to fix her up and Pablo was going to regret losing her and would be on his knees begging.

Fernando is a better Henry Higgins than Pablo ever was!

Gracias, Sara! I cheered so hard for the Victoria-Carlos smoochies! Made the whole episode worth it! And I can't agree with you more about all the rabia-inducing scenes.

And the confusion over Mariano! What is his game?! He needs to stop intriguing me and pick a side already!

Father-daughter revenge bonding is going to be so much fun. I can't wait! That preview for Monday had better not be messing with us!

gringo, you're hilarious...you practically WROTE a recap! I love it!

What Meatball said to Pablo was that Gata was his "woman" but no, they're not married, because she's not the kind of woman you actually marry, but she's totally "his" and is raising his bambino. And I kick Pablo in the shins for never questioning Rita as to what happened to Gata being married to El Pocho and having HIS baby.

J, when Augie said he'd rather be dead, I wondered if he might really do it and leave Lorenza to deal with the aftermath on her own. He's really not handling all these surprises well!

And where is Principe?! We need some good Principe action!

Good Morning, Sara,

Well, I have to say that I think this didactic approach to a recap was inspired and well executed. Thank you very much for your efforts.

I think Mercedes's concerns about Gata moving in to el Silencio's house are incorrect but make sense. Fernando and his wife had just had a baby when he was arrested, making him, perhaps, in his mid twenties? Add twenty years jail time to this and you get a guy who hasn't had any female companionship all that time and is currently in his mid forties. I think that if I were in that situation I would be thinking about vengeance for sure, but I would first be seeking some kind of female companionship.

Boy, Esme can really get a snit on, can't she? When she and Pablo finally get married, if I were him I'd think twice about doing anything that might irritate her. (Of course, by then she will be all wilty lovey-dovey.)

5ft., from yesterday 'why does Rita still have teeth in the first place?' I have two thoughts: a) they couldn't find an edentulous actress, or b) the denizens of the garbage dump have a really good dental insurance plan.

Sara and Gringo, there was some left over tequila on the patio last night so I stayed late and started a new anvil production line. Regardless of how bad things get we should be in good shape.

I think Augie is going to kill himself with anxiety. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I think Pablo's brother needs to check out of the real world and enter a seminary or something. He seems like a nice guy who is doing a few bad things for the wrong reason.

Y la Hermosa Virginia: You see everything, don't you?

David

Sara, another very good format and and in powerpoint a great board presentation for those of us on the patio.

What in tarnation was I just forcefed cause it's comin back up?

One bright spot for me last night is Lorenza not accepting the seriousness of Audisgustin's foreboding. Boy is she in for a surprise.

Dump Dog - they don't pay me enough

Mercedes - or I'll, or I'll... go to work across the street

Kitty - damn, I can't run in these boots

Mariano - whatever that is you're smoking, pass it

Monica - guilt by association

Virginia - my boo

Carlos - if it gets any better than this my heart will explode

Pablo - eat my dust

Kat-I don't know how I feel about Augie dying. Yes, he probably deserves it, but it seems like a cop out on the writers' part. Now, if we are to discover that this was all Lorenza's idea (in a Mexican Lady Macbeth kind of way), then I would be all for Augie dying and Lorenza being left with the aftermath.

David-I completely understand what you are saying about Meche's concerns...but does she always have to be so long-winded about them?

tofie-Even the doggie extra made your list! That one was my fave, of course!

Sara - Sensational recap. You totally captured this emotional rollercoaster. Thanks for the info on Pierre’s song. I will have to take another listen to the Virginia-Carlos love theme.

I got chills when Virginia recognized Carlos’s voice as he hawked the chiclets in traffic. I don't know what's cuter, Carlos and Virginia together or a cute puppy with tail wagging. And their first kiss hit it just right. Omar’s pleasure in these two finding each other again was cute too.

After all Pablum's seen of the dump poor life, you'd think - since he's dumb enough to believe Rita and Meatball – that he’d at least wonder if terrible things had happened to Esmeralda (like sickness, hunger, rape, extortion?) that would make her take up with Meatball.

David, I get Meche's concern and she has a lot of guts to bring this up considering Fernando's wealth, which shows she can't be bought. But I’m with Sara and find her annoying. I like how Fernando talked straight to Meche and let her know there was no reason for her to leave just because they disagreed.

Tofie, love Dumb Dog's take.

..."Dump Dog"

Sara,

I am not even watching this TN, but this INCREDIBLE lesson you gave us this morning is absolute PERFECTION!

This is how I learn and how I have improved my Spanish so MUCH thanks to CarayCaray and our WONDERFULLY talented recappers!

Brilliant, Sara! Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!

Fatima

Good morning Gata fans---I just finished the early morning comments.

A few thought on the comments so far.

David---If Augie kills himself or dies of anxiety, a heart attack or something else, that would be good for us. Augie's demise would save an anvil from our inventory
that may be needed for some future but as of yet undisclosed character that may appear and align him or herself against team Fernando, Gata and Damian.

Gringo---You practically wrote a recap.
La Diva---Please believe me, I'm not trying to muscle in on either yours or Sara's territory. It's just that after the blockbuster episode last night, I think that I was half out of my mind. All that I could think of was, turn on the computer--turn on the computer.

I'm certain that La Gata is going
down as one of my all time favorite novelas.

J in Oregon--Hilarious, absolutely
hilarious. Principe gets to pee on Pablo while he's down. He deserves it.

Now on to the recap.
the gringo

I am finally now getting into La Gata. It took a while but it is ramping up now. I love the recaps and comments. Your insights are right on "J in Oregon." Happy to have you as my "neighbor."

Sara and Niecie, I totally agree with you that Meche is irritating. Her actions seem to be as follows:

a) She operates from reasonable facts.

b) She is always wrong.

c) She delivers her opinions in the most long-winded shrill way that she can.

David

Well, David, maybe the excellent dental insurance is paid for by the rent?

Speaking of rent, Mr. 5ft was shocked, as were others, that not only do places like La Barranca actually exist, but they continue to exist in the US, even. We spent some time doing Internet research last weekend. If you look up "colonias" there's a fair bit written up online, but there are also entire books discussing the phenomenon. What allowed them to happen was that laws didn't used to stipulate that new "subdivisions" had to have things like running water, trash service, or electricity. Unscrupulous land developers would buy land for cheap and sell parcels to people who couldn't go the traditional route of buying a home and paying a mortgage, for whatever reasons. They would even finance loans for people who couldn't pay a lump sum in cash. Monthly payments might have been manageable, but in many cases there was never a written contract, so who knew what the real interest rate was on the loan or how long the person would have to keep paying before they owned their plot of land. In one case we read about, a developer was sued and several people found out that they owned their land already, even though they had been continuing to make payments. Even though there are laws now, colonias still exist, partly because when someone buys cheap land, it's cheap for a reason and no one is really paying too much attention to what they do with it.

tofie--another fabulous list! Forget Carlos, if his and Virginia's scenes get any better, MY heart may explode!

Ooh, Sara...Lady Macbeth. He did try to make it sound like it was all her idea.

Niece, I agree with you. Pablo's been told a lot of things that he doesn't challenge or question. Even when he insisted on "proof" Augie was able to manipulate him with the ultrasound, which was proof of absolutely nothing! I'm disappointed that he never does seem to "wonder" so much as make up his mind first and then only believe whatever fits with his earlier conclusion.

gringo...muscle in, please! Mi territory es su territory!

emeraldrose, I'm glad you're joining us! The more the merrier!

Sara, thank you for the link to the video. I love the song! That kid is really going places.

Thanks Sara! Loved the recap!

The best scenes were the ones with Virginia and Carrlos. I love these two together. I hope we get to see more of them.

Vero and Omar are the best. I love them. Dorila not so much.

I hated seeing Meatbal all smiles after the lies he told Pablo. He needs an anvil already!

I don't want Augie to kill himself. He needs to pay in life what he did to Silencioso. I want to see Augie squirm and be left with nothing. If he ends up in prison that would be even better.

Pablo was hurtful with the things he told Esme - calling her a savage and telling her that her prescene dirties his decent home.

Ick Alert - Did we have to witness Ines and Garabato in bed together? Was this absolutely necessary? I'm glad I wasn't eating at the time. Next time they should put up a warning before we have to watch such a thing.

I'm glad Esme has been asked to move in. I hope she does. It's time she gets out of the dump. Do it for your babies, Esme!

I hope Lorenzonza and Ughie get good anvils way before the inevitable reconciliation of Esme and Pablum. Otherwise, as good a person as she is, she'll probably instantly forgive them and be nice to them just because "they're Pablo's parents and my children's grandparents."

How easy for Pablo Pan to attack Esmeralda with every cliche in the book and very clear he never left his world of privilege. That clown still has never had a job nor created a thing but some paint by number canvases and two children. How convenient he shirks any responsibility by believing himself the injured party. He expected the scruffy kitty to take advantage of him and his expectation becomes his reality.

Thanks Sara, nice format.

"Gringo---You practically wrote a recap."

Thanks Gringo, I love your input. I'm so "Spanish language challenged until every added bit of detail from viewerville is appreciated.

Sure with Esme and Jarocha wouldn't talk so fast when they get excited. Can't figure out a word they are saying.

Wish Jarocha wouldn't shake the baby to much.

Silencio is my favorite right now.

I know I sure appreciate the added details

His yelling at her was probably the first time I thought he deliberately did something malicious. I know he's being manipulated and lied to, but he chose to go after her with exactly the words he knew would hurt her the most. Later, he'll realize what's going on and he'll be sorry, but how is she supposed to trust him again?

Commenting from my phone which is painful, but wanted to say/ask what the hell was Pablo thinking? Was Esme saying things that made it sound like she had forgotten him? NO. She sounded very much like the wronged party. Why the heck didn't Pablo shut up and LISTEN?

What bothered me the most was how quick that switch flipped in him and how vicious the attack. Where is that sensitive dreamer at his bedroom window? I kept thinking, why the heck would she have barged in where she clearly was never welcome just to rub the fact she had run off with another man and had a child. Pablo gets off on feeling like he is being persecuted in thanks for his generosity and kind heart. How dare the feral cat he taught to read and promised fancy feast in perpetuity take a nip at his hand.

I'm not entirely thrilled she didn't insert some factual accusations in her rant. Like, perhaps, "How dare you abandon your children!"?

It's an annoying trend that people don't get to the point of what they really need to say because they spend so long on "How could you! You filthy rat!" that they don't even get to what it is they're upset about. "You took up with El Pocho and had his baby and then had Meatball's baby." "Your mother tore our marriage certificate up right in front of my face and refused to believe I was carrying your children." "You sent me an email saying you were moving on."

Thanks Sara, you have a knack for recapping that opens up the blog for great comments.

There's not much to add to what already has been said. I had been cutting Pablo some slack. But the way he handled the situation with Esme was completely out of character for the Pablo I thought I knew. Something tells me that he is about the find out that "hell has no fury like a woman scorned". Oh well,"He asked for it."!!!
I was also wishing that Esme would throw in something specific and factual in her accusations. Although from what I understood, Pablo was just as guilty. He didn't really give her anything that would make her think that something isn't quite right.

Oh well, that encounter set the stage for some interesting action ... Bring it on!!

Emeraldrose, welcome! We can set up a West-coast table on the La Gata patio.

Tofie your comment nailed it: "That clown (Pablo) still has never had a job nor created a thing but some paint by number canvases and two children." Right! Mr-I'm-Better-and-Richer-Than-You is still living on Daddy's money, and it's not even Daddy's, as it turns out. I want Miss Kitty to go after la venganza, big time.

"Please believe me, I'm not trying to muscle in on either yours or Sara's territory."

It wasn't taken that way at all. I appreciate all the fill in/help I can get!

Niecie- I was giddy during the voice recognition scene!! My jaws hurt so much last night: clenching my teeth from anger and grinning from ear to ear during the Virginia/Carrlos scenes.

Fatima-Thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

emeraldrose-Good to see you!

Mauricio--I echo your ick alert. Double icky because the sprayed Garabato down to look like he had been sweating. Ew. Just ew.

tofie-as usual, you have nailed it. Pablo Pan is an idiot. A privileged IDIOT! Who doesn't have a clue. I wonder if he really loved HER or loved the feeling HE got thinking he was being a free thinking non-classist jackass.

J in Oregon-I loved you Mild-mannered Grandmother by day tagline.

Kat thank you for that information. That is really so sad how entrepreneurs were able to take advantage of people.

As Kat said, the more the merrier. I am enjoying the show A LOT but a nagging little voice keeps telling me this is a Nathalie Lartilleux production. Things will probably get uglier.

A privileged, classiest jackass has plenty of spare time to come up with ways to make them feel and look good but none for self reflection and perish the thought of actually experiencing a life lived by an unfortunate in the birth lottery. The best the imaginative Pablo Pan could do is visit a ravine daily for 30 minutes and frolic with a native, read a poem or two so he could see the wonder in an uneducated waifs eye and go home satisfied the girl learned a new word. He has commented his attempt at molding dirt came to naught so the jackass blames it on the dirt.

And I know it's been said, but that whole knowing where and how she lives and what a hardscrabble existence she has and yet it has not sunk in is crap.

I think Mariano gets it more than Pablo does, which lead us again to wondering which side he will end up on!

tofie...ugh, yes! He basically just blasted her for being poor, but Esme wasn't born poor, she's a rich girl by birth. He's had all the advantages that Esme--specifically Esme--should have had. She should have grown up with parents, in a house, getting an education at the best schools, and all of that didn't happen, not because of an accident of birth, but because his hideous parents took that from her. That's going to hurt like hell when he finally finds that out, and I'm not going to feel sorry for him. Virginia, I'll feel sorry for, but Pablo deserves a little emotional pain after what he doled out!

I'm sure we will find out, but I can't wait to see how all that went down.

And how much do you want to bet Lorenza was born on the wrong side of the tracks? Or both she and Augie were....

Good question. I'm sure without the shenanigans that netted them all of Fernando's wealth, they probably would have been fine. I mean, Augie was already a lawyer. They probably would have had a perfectly nice life...but nooooooo, Ms. Beady wanted more, more, more! My guess is that neither of them came from money or they wouldn't be so panicked about what's going to happen when Fernando takes back everything that was his.

I was thinking about Virginia quite a bit while writing my comments and what a difference empathy makes. Virginia has heard the same parental rants, eaten the same food, slept in the same house yet she gives from the heart with no expectation, even that of gratitude. Pablo Pan however believes if he put himself out, there should be recompense.

How did the three children end up so different?

Mariano is still a mystery to me.

Pablo must have been the apple of his mother's eye. He's spoiled and clearly never really had to work for anything, yet he still seemed to want to help Esmeralda (I suspect that was more Virginia's influence than Lorenza.)

In my version of things, Virginia went blind at a young age and Lorenza left her in the care of the staff: kind people who made her who she is.

Maybe they're trying to say "Adversity builds character." Virginia is sweeter, more empathetic, but she's also more determined. Her mother never approved of her behavior...she kept giving things away anyway. Lorenza sent her away to get her away from Carlos and what does she do the second she gets back...try to find him! The harder Lorenza tried/tries to get her under control, the more Virginia just keeps doing her thing.

And the opposite is true for Pablo. He folds like a cheap suit. Ok mom. I'll marry Mónica.

I don't know why, but I got a bad feeling about Mónica last night. Maybe I'm just being catty.

(oh. Sorry.)

It's not just you. It's her lack of self-respect. Why do none of the backup relationship people ever say, "Look, I really like you and sure, I'd like to help you get over him/her, but no way am I going to get married to you while I'm still just your second choice"?

I really hope we don't get subjected to Monica being "noble" and stepping to one side even though she still lerves Pablo. I would rather her become a raving maniac or SUD 2.0.

Hi Guys,

Had to come out of lurkerdom after last nights episode. Sara I kept thinking how you must be freaking when Pablo literally RAN away from Esme. Really, Pablo? You go all the way to the dump to get the truth then leave a poor girl with torn shoes to chase after your rich boy SUV. UNFORGIVABLE! And estupido de Pablo, if you remember your last (fake) email from Esme (your dad) it said she'd met a nice guy who was humble but decent and she was happy. Do you think she would say that about the meatball???!!!

And Mauricio, ita about Augie doing time vs. dying. I think often in tns the evil guys will say "I'd rather be dead" so our vengeance is sweeter when they do end up in the slammer.

I thought last nights epi was a real turning point in this tn. Esme finally has the means to have the upper hand by aligning herself with Silencio. Please, Gata, move into the mansion!!!!

And I think the thing about Mercedes that bugs me is that even though what she says makes sense, she says it in a mean way like she hates Esme vs wanting to help her.

Anyway, thank you Sara and all the recappers. I'm sorry I haven't been commenting and expressing my thanks. It's college application time for my oldest and things are loco at home!

Thanks again!

Katy

THanks for commenting Katy! You must have heard me yelling last night. LOL. Hubs is out of town and I was quite vocal about everything since I knew there was no one around to make fun of me.

I think that's what bothers me about Meche. She knows what Gata's life has been like, too. Why wouldn't she want to help her?

For some reason it seems to me that Meche is one of those people who like to "help" those less fortunate than she, but doesn't want them to become more fortunate than she is. She never hesitated to help Esme when she was a dirty dump diver and Meche and Damian lived there in the better and cleaner, better-built shack. Then they moved to the Silent One's mansion, so it was then okay for Esme to move into their discarded abode. But heaven forbid that she move into the SAME house as them, she will NOT have it! Why not? Because then SHE wouldn't be the one providing the charity? I don't even think Meche is aware that this is how she feels. I think she really thinks it's a modality issue.

At least, that's my take on it.

Morality issue!

anon 9:43 your thoughts on Mercedes are mine as well.

I also think she believes Damian is or will fall in love with Esmeralda and she doesn't want that.

I'm SO ready for Miss Kitty to move "uptown", get a kick-a$$ makeover, and leave Pablo with his jaw on the floor. He was cruel and condescending to her when she showed up at the mansion.
Why would she ever forgive him? I wouldn't.
J in Oregon

Love your thoughts on Michelle, Anon943. Makes perfect sense.

I like your thoughts, too tofie. It would be just like Meche to think Esme isn't good enough for Damian.

J- I've been ready for the makeover ever since I saw Maite's instagram pic from the day they started shooting this. Her hair, costume and fake dirt are driving me nuts.

Surely Pablo will recognize her too. I don't have a beanie strong enough for a rerun of the CI Oblivio doesn't recognize his woman plot.

Um. That would be thoughts on Meche, Anon943.

god, if they put Esmeralda in one of those mullet skirts Marycruz wore I swear I'll jump

WOW!!! I just finished reading all of the comments that weren't up this morning and I have much to say. Oh No! Here goes the gringo again.

First---Sara, magnifico, muy magnifico. I have read a lot of recaps that have been cleverly put together but never one like this---it's fitting, a magnifico
recap to match a magnifico episode
last night.

La Gata was so good Friday night that it has been on my mind for most of the day today. I have so many thoughts I'll never get them all down. My head is still spinning. OMG I was spellbound.

The whole episode was outstanding
but for me the best two parts were
the Carlos and Virginia kiss. Sara
you did such a good job especially
on that part. and the Esme Pablo confrontation. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Esme and Jarocha go to the Silencioso mansion for a quite evening and a get to know each other when all of a sudden Esme sees Pablo next door and she's off. OMG, the cat,
La Gata is loose. The next thing I see, she practically runs over Vero and in she goes.

Mauricio---Thanks for the skinny on what Pablo told Esme. Those were very strong words, he's going to live to regret saying them.

Foxy---Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I love it but I'm sure that Pablo won't.

Foxy---when I see the camera close up's of Gata's angry eyes,
I cringe and I haven't done anything wrong.

Fury? Pablo, you had better take the first plane back to New York.

It was asked why weren't facts brought out during the fight? I was thinking as I was watching that Esme is going to put everything out there and make Pablo look like $$#@&!!*(& but I guess that if she did, the novela would end very soon.

Tofie---You ask. Where is that sensitive dreamer by the bedroom window? Answer---The sensitive has been taken out of him by his insensitive mother.

That's enough for now, I don't want to write a book. More tomorrow. You've been warned.

Thanks, Sara. Pablow does not deserve Miss Kitty. You do not treat someone you love or once loved like that.no matter what. He is a dim bulb. It did not take much to convince him that his onetruelove had done him wrong. He is not smart enough or kind enough to deserve Miss Kitty. She needs a true good guy like Carrrrlosss. She needs a hero..not a zero.

Pablow Good one Susanlynn!

Sara, a great recap of a very dramatic episode. Bad Pablo! At least we had the reward of Carlos and Virginia's sweet reunion. A curbside date, supervised by the kindly chauffer, no less. If Lorenza had seen it, she would have had a stroke.

Pablo spent so much time wallowing in self pity while he was in NY, he must have lost his capacity for empathy. Where's his tenderness for La Gata gone? No willingness to listen to her story, just toe the line laid down by Mama?

Looking forward to a makeover for Gata. There was a story with photos of Taylor Swift carrying her cat around NYC, like Gata with Principe.

La Paloma--Was Taylor supporting the cat's back legs? It drives me nuts how Principe has been handled by the actors.

Tories....no no noooo...no more mullet skirts. The wardrobe department of CI beat that fad to death with a stick. I think...hope..that fad has faded into history...hasn't it ? I am glad that I did not buy any.

D**n...Tories ???? Ipad keeps changing tofie...first to "to die" then to "toffee",,,then to "Tories".....sorry, tofie..I thought that I had corrected it. I have a love/ hate relationship with my Ipad.

I'm watching Cosita Linda and there was a mullet skirt in Wednesday's (?) episode. But it was being worn as part of a flamenco dance audition...so it seemed appropriate. LOL.

Sara..Writing the recap as a vocabulary lesson was very clever. I find it interesting that you are teaching Spanish to English speakers, while I am teaching English to many Spanish speakers. About a third or more of my class are Spanish speakers from Dominican Republic, Peru, Guatemala , and Puerto Rico. Since the reading class that I teach focuses on academic vocabulary to prepare the students for college level classes, my Spanish speaking students are always happy to be getting our multisyllabled words that derive from Latin because they are usually close to Spanish words. They definitely have an advantage over my Asian and Middle Eastern students.

I get ESL students in my class as well! I had a Vietnamese child last year and I'm teaching two Arabic speakers this year (Though they have tested out of ESL.) They enjoy comparing Arabic and Spanish words (since there is some common vocabulary.)

Sara, I hope this link gives you the video clip. She had cat's belly draped along her forearm.

So Mariano is telling Pablo not to marry Monica and to find out the truth. That makes sense but I don't think that he knows or realizes all of the names/vocabulary that describes his brother. Pablo's list of descriptive and undesirable names is growing.

Sara---Thank you for Pierre's song
Me Encanta, it's beautiful and it matches Virginia and Carlos beautifully.

Tofie---Do I have to say that I love your list? You already know that. My favorites are Kitty--Carlos and the underpaid dump dog.
Did he join the Animal Actors Union? He didn't join, Maybe that's the reason for his low wages. There should be some nice bones in the dump.

5ft.---I didn't know about
"colonias." There is wrong and evil in every country but I have never heard of this.

So Miss Kitty made Pablo mad. he'll show her. A lot of kisses will be flowing in Monica's direction now. I wouldn't be surprised if after Gata moves into mansion Venganza Central Pablo will probably stand out where he can be seen and practice lip locks with Monica.

Sara---You said that possibly Virginia has been raised by the good staff. Yes that's possible but not Dorila I would add.

Sara you also said that Monica may just get noble and step aside.
My guess is just the opposite. I can see Monica becoming pregnant.

Katy---Pablo gets an email that says she met someone who was humble and decent. MEATBALL! LOL
the gringo

Monica pregnant? Yikes! I can just see that happening too. Ooo that would enfuriate me.

Monica's child will have Pablo's family name and Esmeraldas are denied. Yep that would piss me off

A Maite/Gata make over? If Gata moves into mansion Venganza Central tonight, and it looks like she will, we will get to see the new Gata/Esmeralda. The goddess moves up-town. I can't wait--I can't wait--I can't wait.

I can see it in my mind already and the show hasn't even played yet.

You bring shame to my family name. Que? You just wait Pablum Pan. You're going to need a therapist after you find out that the shame on your family name was brought about by your parents.
Oh Pablum, I feel sorry for you already and the fun hasn't even begun yet.

And speaking of fun---I cant wait to see Lorenza in a rusty bicycle chain necklace that she found in the dump after she looses all of her Bloomingdale ensembles.

Maybe Gata will feel sorry for her
and invite her over [by the side entrance of course] for a cup of imported tea.

How weird is it that as much as I want to kick a lot of these characters in the shins for various reasons, I nevertheless look forward to the next episode?

Hey, Patio:
"Ben Feeds Back" website just gave a big shout-out to our own 5t Latina for donating the scrumptious chocolate truffles to his charity fundraiser! Yay, way to go girl!!!
J in Oregon

PS Oops, not a charity fundraiser, but a very special dinner for the homeless. I know they appreciated it!

La Diva---These people make you so angry that you want to kick them and yet you look forward to tuning in. I think that it is the Gata magic that they have thrown on us. It's either that or the tequila. No wait, David said that there was a lot of tequila left out on the patio the other night.
Maybe the patio peeps were so interested in the show that for the most part, they forgot about the tequila. No, it's the La Gata magic, I'm sure of it. La Gata has us spellbound.

Go Kat! I still think that was an awesome cause.

I look forward to every episode even when there are tons of people I want to kick.

Lol. thanks J! Tomorrow night is the dinner. I always like to leave a day or so in case of emergencies, though at this point, I don't even want to look in the general direction of my kitchen for another week! That was way too many to do in 1 day, and if not for the assistance of Mr. 5ft, I wouldn't have gotten half of it done! I think he's trying to qualify for sainthood. He also told me I should do the recap tonight after rehearsal and we'd watch Castle tomorrow. What a guy!

gringo, there is some Gata magic for sure. It resides primarily in the relationship between Carlos and Virginia for now, but hopefully that will spread :D

Unless Eli is ready to start today? (no pressure!)
