Bela Gets The Blues (As Her Due)

Let us JIP (J=join in progress) as Don Nicolas’s bride to be, La Jennifer, makes a “naughty night” date with Nic.  (E.D. PSA alert!)  Nerdando  comes downstairs with a smile the size of the DF anticipating his own naughty night date with Ximena.  The two end up comparing their respective upcoming night of nookie and Nerdando admits he’s still a virgin.  Don Nico says that at his age with a woman like Jennifer he might as well still be a virgin himself.  (Sorry, but  a  serious young man discussing losing his virginity with his parental units or even his grand parental units is more than I can stomach.  –N-n-nb-b-t-t-t-t!!!  Oh well, the whole storyline here is more than I can stomach.  And my beanie is out for repairs.  Let’s continue…..)

Even weirder discussion ensues as Nico tells his 17 year old grandson that he’s got an appointment that morning to see about adopting a baby for Jens.  (Guess the old guy’s so rich he figures he can buy his way through anything.  Anyway, what is some 70- something old fart doing bringing a baby home like a kitten or puppy from the county pound??  He’d probably be pushing up daisies and Mexican heather long before the kid gets out of junior high, even.  Why does he think that should be fair for a child??  Crap!  Why doesn’t the old toe-sucker get his rocks off once in a while with his trophy wife, courtesy of the little blue pill, and count his blessings such as they are?)

Isabela, meanwhile, is still over at El Quickie de Ricky—er Enrique—and stamping her foot over catching her hubby lip-locking with La Nanaca de Ana!  Quique chides her for falling in love with her mark and says it’s her own darned fault.  (Viewerville hastens to agree, and then yells "--Deal with it!"  at the screen.)

At the same time back in the Lascurain manse’s kitchen, Luz has just blasted the news about Don Fernando’s kissing Ana again.  Rather than explain, she asks permission to date Diego and gets it just before Fernando enters the kitchen looking for his wife.

Across town, Jens asks Johnny to make sure he doesn’t enter their apartment between 8PM and 10PM.  She needs her privacy, but Johnny guesses it’s due to her and Nic getting it on there this evening.  He’s not happy about it.  (Personally I think Jens is in for a big surprise…..)

Back at the manse, breakfast is about over and the twins race upstairs with a plan that will be sure to cause Bela a lot of grief.

Leon gets back from a day of failure trying for a respectable job and realizes that he’s got to get his degree if he’s going to work in the places he tried so hard to convince to hire him.  He cannot even convince the people on the street to pay him for the sidewalk art he draws.  (Smart crowd.)  He ends up as a stock boy loading fruits and veggies at some minor little nearby market.

Nico’s day isn’t much better as he gets told the facts of old life by the social worker at the adoption agency.

At Don Ferd’s company, Bety is also having a crappy day.  It doesn’t get any better when she saucily admits to the naive daughter of the boss that she slept with a non-responsive Quique the night before.  He gets wind of the discussion and takes Fanny into his office to explain that this was a relationship that ended in college decades ago and that unfortunately Bety hadn’t made it into the next century yet to realize that it was “over” and the fling was just  a “for good old times” sort of thing.

Meanwhile, Diego talks Ana into coming with him to see his new apartment.  While they’re there, she overhears him turning down a major photo shoot in the Middle East for “Love”.  He orders pizza and they discuss Ana’s long lost mother situation.  FF>> ZZZZZ (Yawn)

Nico stops by the office to tell Don Ferd about his failed adoption attempt and his nookie night expectations.  DF has enough decency to turn a bit red over the situation.

Bela tells Yo Mama that Qique has promised to help rid them of the nanaca.

Bruno steals a Spidy Man doll out of the twins’ bedroom.  (QTH?)

Bela takes her bubble bath and gets a surprise once she starts shampooing her locks.   Her hair is covered in bright blue paint and she has a shit fit in the tub.  She screams for somebody to help her.   (Take your time!)  Mama’s outside, and it is Bruno who runs to her rescue.  He races out to tell the now mawkishly mantilla'd (?) Yo-not so musical Mama.

Johnny practices his bad jokes on the guys at the car repair shop.

Bela gives Ana grief about the twins’ mischievous morning and warns her that if she can’t control those two delinquent little turds that it’ll be Ana who pays the price.  Bela adds that she’s certain Ana was even in on the little stunt.  Next she tells her she also witnessed The Kiss that morning between her and her husband.  Ana tries to explain that it was totally a mistake, done by accident, but Bela won’t believe her.  In fact she accuses Ana of doing it out of revenge.  “--Accident nothin’!  You did it to try getting even with me!”

How did Isababy manage to go off to Harvard by herself? Or did Mommy send a nanny with her? What a crybaby idiot. Is she too stupid to dunk under the water to rinse the paint off? If only it had been Nair.

What's with Bruno stealing a toy? More evidence that maybe he volunteers at an orphanage?

Thanks for that Julia, I didn't put 2 and 2 together with regards to Bruno and the missing toys.
I kept saying to the TV why doesn't she just dunk her head underwater and rinse the paint off? And why was her hair such a tangly mess when she washed it?

My hair used to be that long, so for it to get tangled like that wouldn't be that unusual. I agree with your lament that it should have been Nair.

However, that stuff has a very distinctive scent that Isababy would have recognized.

It looks Like Enrique got his hair redyed. When you wear it short, you have to do it often. The shorter it is, the more often.

So Nico now knows that he won't be able to adopt a baby with Jen. Who wants to bet he calls off the engagement?

Can't wait til Diego or Ana catch Isa at Enrique's.

OK, did anybody else notice how as Ana described her memory of her mother playing the guitar and singing to Diego, the scene cut to Yolanda's hands as she reclined and sang?!?! I had a sneaky suspicion at the beginning of the tn, but now I think my hunch is true: Yomama Naca Bruja is Ana's mama! Please tell me it isn't so!

Ecuador Bound, since my hunch is Bruno is her father, then she can't be the mother.

cathyx - I would much rather have your hunch be true than mine!

I watched this Saturday morning, and without the recap, it's difficult for me to remember what happened, lol.

hmmmmm, stealing toys, orphanage, Ana raised in orphanage.

Carlos Ponce is going to be in a comedy on ABC

Here is the trailer

Jardinera, thank you in advance for your recap!

Another fun episode! I loved the whole blue hair wash incident. It was straight out of cartoon land. Isabela was the best villain ever telling Ana that if she could not put the kids in their place she would. Then when Ana did try to brush off the blue hair event as an accident, Isabela told her she would think of an accident to get rid of her.

I felt sorry for Nico but he is in his seventies but why should his age be the deciding factor when Jennifer is in her thirties? Does not seem right some how.

I loved Yolanda sunning herself and singing a self composed song to Bruno.

Ecuador Bound, I hope they were just playing with our heads and it was just an "artistic" transition from Ana's mama's hands to Yolanda's. Yikes!

Jarifa

I agree. If Yomama is her mother, Bruno can't be her father. I'd rather Bruno be her father.

So Isabitch has threatened Ana's life. I am now seriously afraid that this series will go the way of PEAM.

I could barely stand to watch PEAM at the end...in fact, I think I missed more episodes the last weeks than watched. So I pray this TN steers clear of the nasty, scary type scenarios. I'm hoping Isa's rages are just empty tirades, though we got close with the crud the writers put Johny through. Some family hour.

I hate to say it, but these tricks by the twins are starting to be more worrisome to me than funny. First off...where the heck do they get this stuff? Second, the pranks are ratcheting up and when is enough enough?

Sure, I don't like Isa either, but the woman is pregnant and in the early stages, pranks and making her go beserk could result in something not so funny. Someone, and that should be FER with Ana, not just her, needs to sit those two down and stop this behavior. And again...family hour. Great ideas they are giving their younger audiences especially with seemingly little consequences to them.

And I missed the part where Nico found he couldn't adopt? Why the heck not? I've seen couples with age disparities adopting kids...or is this typical more south of the border? A good home is a good home. Hope this isn't a bad plot point just to break "JenCo" up.

I would hate for them to make Yolanda Ana's mother. Those hands didn't match up to Yoma's at all. Long thin fingers don't shrink, so I think that was all a red herring. I'm with you all, I want Bruno to be Ana's dad way more...make it so writers!! Ana doesn't deserve being related to those two dweebs.

Daisynjay

I would hate for Ana to be related to Cruella and Smurfette - yuck!

I think there's another woman yet to come. I've seen her in the credits. I can't remember her name, but she is older and a refined type of woman. Does any one else remember seeing her? The only thing I somehow can't connect her with Bruno.

Anxiously awaiting your recap, Jard.

Ann-NYC

Yo-mama cannot be Ana's mama -- please gods and goddesses.

There was a moment when Bruno referred to "mi Ana". I took that as a clue!

Looking forward to Jardinera's recap. I am sure that she will make mince-meat out of Yolanda and Isabela. And, how did Isabele survive a program at Harvard?????

I don't think the pranks are escalating yet. The kids have been dumping paint on everyone for the last year. This time, they just put the paint in the shampoo bottle instead. Too bad they didn't use ink so it wouldn't wash off for awhile.

I don't think Yomama can be Ana's mother. I think the scene cuts are misdirection. At least, I hope so. The bits of Ana's memory that we see of the guitar playing show hands that look nothing like Yoyo's, and we haven't seen Yolo have even the slightest niggling of possible recognition. I would think Ana's mother would at least wonder when she met a woman named Ana of the right age who was raised in a casa hogar whether she was hers. Also, Ana seems to remember her mother as loving and maternal and a bit elegant in manner, and I can't imagine Yomama EVER having been any of those things.

I'd much prefer Ana turn out to be Bruno's daughter.

I wonder if Nico and Jen would have more luck if they tried to adopt an older child. Then Nico wouldn't be quite so old when the kid was 10/20/whatever. Also, why would both parents have to be young? Isn't one parent who's likely to survive and take good care of a child enough?

Didn't see the epi, but am seeing the comments about adoption. Friends of mine (who have actually recently moved to Mexico) have had to change their overseas adoption plans (the country) because the husband just turned 50 and many countries do not allow adoption once any one of the parents turns 50. It's not unusual.

Jardinera, thanks for the recap. I couldn't believe Isabela couldn't just hold her nose and dip her head underwater. No, she had to make an enormous fuss instead. Maybe the diluted dye would have turned her entire body a pale blue?
I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but this TN is stretching my nerves. Let Diego and Ana make a connection and head off for a trip around the world. They can read emails from the family for news bulletins.

I'm mostly still watching to find out what happens to Fanny and Diego. I like Nerdando, too, but don't really need to hear him bonding with gramps over their hookup prospects. And Nico didn't even make sure he had condoms and knows how to use them!

I also love Luz. She is a delight. I loved how she gleefully announced the kiss at breakfast.

There are definitely boundary issues between the generations in this family. I wonder if their failure to work through their grief when Estefania died is a cause of this.

Good stuff, Jardinera.

Just what does Isabruja think she can do to those boys? They are not her children and she has no authority over them. She needs to get a grip on herself. Even her mother is starting to think she's unhinged.

Which could send her into Veronica territory.

More later.

Thanks, Jardinera, for the recap!

Regarding PSA opportunities, the tn writers missed two:
1. Jen has HPV, so Nico should have considered how he would protect himself from contracting the virus.
2. Nico should have taken Nando out to buy a box of condoms, saying, "You don't want to end up like your father or Leon."

Regarding discussing their upcoming sexual activities with family members, the Lascurain men should use more discretion!

Have a great day on the patio, All!

thanks much Jardinera.

"He’d probably be pushing up daisies and Mexican heather long before the kid gets out of junior high, even."

Weird one here. I cringe when they expect me to take it serious, I laugh when they want me to be angry and I'm insulted when they expect me to beg for more.

Stupid to watch Isabela in a tub for 20 minutes, Juan mooning over Jen, an old man about to get laid and as payment a kid, Ana asking permission of children to date Diego after she just told Diego the night before she is still in love with his bro, Enrique discusses a casual sex encounter with the daughter of his boss while he is trying to bang her and able to make himself out the injured party. Whew.

Nic - Like a virgin, touched for the very first time

Nando - boy wonder

Diego - I gotta spare room

Bruno - off to the land of misfit toys

Isabela - shut up, join the blue man group

Ana - the kids don't sign your checks

Fanny - you missed the hazard sign back there

Leon - why not apply for a job as a messenger

Jardinera, was this a delight. "mawkishly mantilla'd (?) Yo-not so musical Mama" was my favorite. You skewered with "Why doesn’t the old toe-sucker get his rocks off once in a while with his trophy wife, courtesy of the little blue pill, and count his blessings such as they are?)". The title was great.

"He cannot even convince the people on the street to pay him for the sidewalk art he draws. (Smart crowd)" echoed my feelings exactly. While Leon has had his share of heartbreak, I cannot forget what he did to Fanny, the unconscionable lies and deceit.

That said, I did not like Johnny either but found myself softening after his beating and being held captive.

I still want Diego for Anna.

Ecuador Bound, you are quite right. Nico should have given his grandson some practical advice. Ending up like Fer and Leon is the last thing Nando should want to do.

Thank you Jardinera!

Diana

tofie, "Enrique discusses a casual sex encounter with the daughter of his boss while he is trying to bang her and able to make himself out the injured party. Whew".

Well said! I am puzzled that Fanny seemed to accept his explanation. Leon lied straightfaced to her but I could understand as he appeared to be loving and she had no reason to doubt him. Enrique has slime written all over him. She had his number the first time they met - what changed?

Jardinera,

Perfect! El quickie de Ricky?? Love it.

Yes, where are the condoms in this novela? I like Nando and Nico enough to handle the conversation but wonder who the heck is the targeted audience here -- kids, families, adults only? The kids seem to know what is going on in the household to an extreme degree, independent of sexual matters.

What the heck, all the open discussion of Fernando in love with the nanny, and she with him, while married to another woman that is pregnant with a sibling, kissing in the hallway (mistake or not) with all the kids knowing and excited and the next morning Ana asking their permission to date their uncle.

“Isabela and Enrique will pay,” said Hera. “It will be a while because it has to wait until the infant is born.”

“That will seem like forever to the other children,” said Aphrodite. “But I can't think of an alternative.”

“The blue paint was clever,” said Hermes. “However, it doesn't make a sea goddess of her.”

“She's more like a Gorgon,” said Poseidon. “Maybe we should arrange that.”

“Not until we get her out of the mansion,” said Athena. “We can't let innocent people turn to stone.”

Urban, great Gorgon reference. I could picture it.

Jarifa

If you remember the photo of the Furies in the wedding episode you'll see the same expression on their faces as on hers when she's crossed.

tofie,
exactly! remember at the wedding Ana told Diego that she did not stop the wedding so she would not confuse the kids... so for all the events you listed... WTH!!!!?? wouldn't this request for permission to date their uncle confuse them even more?? esp since she does not REALLY have romantic interest in Diego.

jardinera, loved your 'El quickie de Ricky' ... have to use that sometime.

tofie, loved your 'misfit toys' for Bruno and the 'missed the hazard sign (that you actually saw when you met him)' for Fanny.

Thanks for the reminder of Ana's comment at the wedding. The breakfast pronouncement of her intent to date Diego, thinly veiled as a request for permission, was to apply salve on his ego, an attempt to convince herself and the kids she has moved on and directed at the wrong people. Big fat lie and I hate that she now has purposefully placed them between she and Fernando and the kids have to decide do they support their fathers romantic yearnings for her or their uncles.

Condoms wouldn't protect Nico from Jen's HPV...HPV is skin to skin contact. They SHOULD discuss condom use but condoms don't protect against HPV.

Nico SHOULD HAVE discussed condom use with Nando. He and Ximena are way too young (and in Ximena's case too unstable) to worry about having a child.

Are private adoptions allowed? If Isabela's baby survives I can't see her, Real Daddy Ricky or YoMama taking care of this kid (due to being in jail or death or both), so I'm thinking either Ana or Jen will end up with Isabela's baby at the end.

Re: Nando and the condoms. I'd be more worried about sexually transmitted diseases sinces Xi's been around.

I would think that Nico could arrange a private adoption of someone's baby.

The good thing about Quicky Ricky's being so loose-lipped about his lech life with Fanny is that he might let slip something about his relationship with Isabimbo.

Fanny was entirely too helpful with her perfect advice for impressing Fer. I wish she had helped Reeky load up his work with tons of the bells and whistles Fer hates.

Who washes their hair in a bath full of a mountain of bubbles, anyway? How would you ever get your hair rinsed clean?

Fer needs to enroll his wife in a preschool where she can learn about sharing and manners and being a big kid and not crying all the time.

Is there a reason Nerdando's and Nico's mochi-mochi meetings (channeling Kristel from LldA here) are both scheduled at 8? They seemed to make a point of that. But it isn't like they are meeting their ladies at the same hotel and they're going to walk into dark seduction scenes and OOPS accidentally mix up partners. Which would be traumatizing for everyone.

If (when?) Something happens to Isabela, it has to happen to her mother, too, otherwise SHE will certainly fight for custody of her next meal ticket ... er, grandchild, if it's Enrique's. And I can see the baby ending up with Ana (if she ends up with Fernando and it's his baby), but how would it end up with Jen otherwise? I don't see Fernando giving up his child to her just to satisfy her craving to be a mother.

Besides, I don't think Jen just wants to be a mother. I think she's feeling so bad because she can't HAVE a child, feeling betrayed by her body.

I agree.

If the baby turns out to be Enfrique's, he won't care about it. He's a total sociopath.

If Fernando then finds out that the baby isn't his he can get an annulment on grounds of fraud. My gut also says that the marriage really wasn't consummated despite Isabitch's efforts. Jen and Nico could adopt this baby because by the time Fernando finds out the rest of the truth about Zerobela she will have been proven to be an unfit mother.

Great recap, Jardinera.

Ecuador: I don't think we need to worry about Yolanda being Ana's mother. I think the juxtaposition of the scenes of Ana's mother singing and Yolanda singing are the director's attempt at visual antithesis -- showing the direct opposite.

I'm pretty sure that by the end, Isa will be either in jail or dead, and she won't care about her baby if she can't use it as a meal ticket. Frique won't want the baby, either, I suspect. So I think it will be available for adoption. Legally it may be Fer's child, but if it's proven he's not the father and he finds out Isa got him into marriage fraudulently, I don't think he'll want to keep the child unless it's already been born and living with him long enough to get attached.

But I'm not super convinced Jen and Nico will still be together at the end. I wouldn't put it past this team to kill him off, or they could split for any number of reasons.

Hey, maybe Jen should marry Leon. He's got a built-in kid :).

I'm still worried about Diego.

Tonight's might be a little late. Just a warning.
