Hasta El Fin del Mundo #4: 8/21/14: It's All About the Price Tag and The Bling Bling!

Hola Amiguis! This recap will be short and sweet. I have a wee little earworm I've been wanting to use and now I can! Take a listen as you read the recap, I Can't Drive  I am skipping the old and commencing with the new. Shall we begin?

Alexa is in the back of that Mercedes, sniffling about Papa's car, cause I guess when they went to the funeral this was the car used. Armando, ever the gentleman, asks her if she is okay cause he didn't know about the car. She just wants to go home. Armando tells Alexa he just loves this car, her Papa must have been great. Alexa asks if Armando is a chofer. Nopis, he's a mechanic and explains the racing circuit. She knows all about it she says. She went to races in Monaco.

While Greta is giving Miguelina hell, Fausto in the back is giving Lucas hell. Fausto has dealt with little ruffians like him before, grabs him by the scruff of his neck and throws him out. Kudos to Fausto!

Meanwhile, Dani (Daniela) is mooning over Lucas and now she knows he is Miguelita's grandson.

At the Ripoll Chocolate Factory, Pato (Patricio) is fawning all over Sofia. He's so happy nothing happened to her, is his nose growing or what? Sofia doesn't understand this situation, why oh why did this happen? Pato isn't calling the chofer by name and Sofia corrects him and tells Pato that the chofer has a name, and that is Salvador Cruz, on a side note, his friends call him Chava.

Silvie (Silvania) meets with Salvador. He tells her he is so happy with his job. He also tells her he used to be a race car driver.

Sofia tells Pato that the Commandante is in charge of this attempted kidnapping case and Pato wants to be kept abreast of the investigation. He isn't looking too good, when Sofia mentions they will be looking at CCTV cameras to see if anything was caught. Pato now wants to hire Bodyguards for the whole familia. Sofia nixes the idea. She mentions that Alexa is back from Spain. Oh, and Pato's job is Director of Finances for the Chocolate Factory. Hmmm....

Paco is throwing trash out when he runs across Maestro Coria. Paco is pithed as soon as he sees him. He starts to argue with Coria, calls him a thief and a fake. Seems back in the day, Maestro Coria stole chocolate recipes from Paco and passed them off as his own. Paco also tells him he has no conscience. This cost Paco his job at Ripoll Chocolates and Coria and Paco duke it out and Coria ends up in the mud face down! Paco goes off.

Sofia and Silvie have a meet, they are besties, watch your back Sofia! Sofia tells Silvie all about the kidnap attempt. Silvie says that she met Chava and got a good impression. Sofia tells Silvie that Alexa is back from Spain.

Sofia is about to go home. Chava has an umbrella for her and is about to open the door for her, when here comes Pato with another umbrella and starts to kiss her. Sofia isn't liking that. No PDA (Public Displays of Affection) at work in front of the employees. Pato would like to escort her home, but Sofia tells him no. Sofia would rather go with Chava. Chava assures Pato that Sofia will be safe with him. Pato gives Chava the stinkeye.

Irma and Lupe are having a chat, and of course Irma is all about the Price Tag and the Bling, Bling. Irma is so happy she got to keep that furniture and Lupe is irked with her, cause the poor guy had just lost his job. But now she's happy cause Armando got a job as a chofer. Lupe makes Irma leave.

Armando has finally delivered Alexa to the house. Greta, Dani and Fausto greet her and all of them seem to like that guapo chofer. He hauls all of Alexa's bags in and Greta wants to see him when the car is unloaded. Greta pays Armando and he explains he did this picking up thingy as a favor to Chava. He also tells Greta he lives in the Union Colonia and her face drops like ten inches. Armando goes.

Maestro Coria is all worried that he has now been accused by Paco of stealing those chocolate recipes. Mattias comes by and the chismoso he is, Maestro Coria ends up suspending him from work for two days. Coria keeps insisting those recipes are his, dammit!

Pato is on the phone, and I'm taking a shot in the dark. I think he is talking to that skeevy wine cellar guy. His plan failed, porca miseria (holy hell)! Silvie comes into his office she has some paperwork for him to sign and he wants all the info she can get on Chava, like yesterday.

Chava is driving Sofia home and a little red car gets too close and she panics. He tells her things are okay, and will turn on the radio for her as a distraction. It is some classical piece. They both laugh, cause it isn't their type of music.

Alexa and Greta are talking and Alexa drops Pedro Almodovar's name. He is evidentally the Grandson of the famous producer/director and something about a part for her in a movie. Greta is overjoyed. Alexa says she'd love it too, but needs Greta's support with Sofia.

Pato asks Silvie exactly what did Chava say about himself. She tells him he used to be a race car driver and she suggestively crosses her legs, well you know! He wants to investigate Chava, but Silvie tells him, why bother. Sofia is my BFF and I can get more out of her than an investigator can get on Chava. That's okay with him.

Fausto and Miguelina have a talk about Lucas. Fausto says he took him to task for his impulsive behavior.

While Danny thinks of Lucas, he is out at a fancy cafe pretending to be a waiter and picking up the money meant for the patron's meals and then takes off with the money.

Danny goes to the kitchen and talks to Miguelina about Lucas. She finds out that Lucas' Papa died when he was small and Lucas' Mama abandoned him when he was small. Miguelina supports both herself and Lucas. They are alone in the world.

Paco is reading a book when Lupe comes by to see him. She has brought him a gift of food as in empanadas, yummy! It is his secret recipe book and when she tries to take a peek he gets nasty with her. She ends up leaving. But he does tuck into those empanadas.

Next Pato, continuing on his mission to get info on Chava, asks Mattias about him. Mattias admits he recommended Chava for the job. He also tells Pato that Chava's sister, Marisol, is now working at Ripoll too. Pato goes and Mattias goes to Silvania and tells her that Coria suspended him for two days.

Chava finally brings Sofia home, he pats her hand, and Fausto is there. Chava has to come pick her up at 7:15 in the morning. He'll do that.

Meanwhile Greta and Alexa come down the stairs and Greta is going to supervise poor Miguelina.

Fausto takes Chava on a tour of the downstairs, servants area. They both try to pass in the doorway several times and it just can't be done. Chava and Fausto are near the kitchen and Chava is loving the smell of the food. Fausto introduces Chava to Miguelina and they both know each other of course. Chava knows she has a grandson. He's impulsive.

Danny comes down and Alexa gives her perfume.

Meanwhile at the Union Colonia, it must be boys night out, cause Chava, Armando and Mattias are out at Cuco's Cantina. They talk about their days. Mattias is suspended for two days. Chava doesn't mention the attempted kidnap, and Armando talks about Alexa as being frivolous. Chava likes Sofia and Mattias tells him not to mess with Pato. Armando wants to find a mechanic's job.

Fausto has a tray of drinks he is going to serve as Sofia comes in. Greta reminds Sofia not to provoke Alexa. Fausto is glad the woman are all together and serves them a Cocktail Alexander, without the alcohol, it's famous in San Franciso. They toast each other. Alexa talks about trends in fashion.

Pato and Silvie are talking and she says they are both pathetic. He wants her to come have a drink with him. At first she isn't sure, but ends up going with him.

Marisol and Lupe are talking. Lupe really wants Marisol to go back to school. Chava comes home and he tells them about the chofer's job he got. Marisol tells her big brother that she too has a job at Ripoll.

The Ripolls are at table and Alexa talks about working for that director and she wants the money she is entitled to. Sofia isn't in agreement. I guess Sofia manages the trust of Alexa and tells her she is spending it like water. She tells Alexa if she likes Madrid so much to go back.

Avances:

Chava gets fitted for his chofer's uniform.

Silvana and Pato have a bit of a meet. Hmmmm......

Good Morning Y'all,

Please enjoy the recap ;

Top o' the mornin' Maddie!

"No PDA!" and "Greta's face drops 10 inches." are my faves.

This novela so far reminds me of Cachito de Cielo, HQEDNS and Amores Veraderos.

PF as the lead is CDC & HQEDNS aspect as well as how he lacks a father figure and has a mother & sister he supports with a professional job (in CDC, his mother Isabel was played by Cecelia Gabriela and sister Diana was played by Elizabeth Valdez who some may remember as Esther from Corazon Indomable (at some point there's a love interest for Isabel played by Juan Carlos Barreto.) in HQEDNS his mother Leonor was played by Leticia Perdigon and sister Julieta was played by Erika Garcia whose resume BTW is pretty much Larrosa novelas (his father who was played by Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo appears at the very end.)

He falls in love with his boss now and back then due to a conflict/accident involving automobiles (in CDC he had the love of his life and marriage in his grasp but was mistakenly or ACCIDENTLY killed and had to restart his life. While I'm at it, eat your heart out La Gata, CDC was Maite Perroni's best work. Maite actually gets hit by a car in CDC and while in limbo, the angels who brought the discordial plotline and were supposed to be in hell let her know the whole enchilada about Cachito. So I guess the truth came to her because she was run over and that accident brought her back to loving him.)

In all 3 there's a guy who is feigning love for the female lead and constantly trying to or succeeding in boffing with other women (Marco Valenzuela- Victor Noriega who BTW is homosexual, Fabio Montenegro-Jorge Poza and lastly, Patricio Iturbide-Julian Gil.)

Well I guess it's what he works best with right?

Also, there's a campy comic relief friend (HQEDNS-Jaime played by Rodrigo Vidal, CDC-Lucas played by Cesar Bono although he is the most serious of the 3 and now Matias in HEFDM played by Julio Camejo of all people.)

As for capitulo numbers, HQEDNS has 231 (right?) and Cachito had 110. I know for sure that us Carayers recapping would like for there to 110 or less LOL ESPECIALLY after the circo that was Lo Que La Vida me Robo. Keep in mind the original show Dulce Amor had 300 so I hope Nicandro Diaz will have mercy on us.

Corazon, I posted a comment on your amazing recap of Wednesday’s events.

What a way to start the weekend Madelaine. This was fresh and refreshing. Sheer delight. “It's All About the Price Tag” and “The Bling Bling His plan failed, porca miseria (holy hell)!” were among my many favorites.

Very pivotal scene between Paco and Maestro Coria. Perhaps the fact that the Maestro did not want recognition the other night was due to guilt? So, he stole Paco’s recipes…that may account for some of Paco’s grouchiness. I’m starting to wonder if we will see him smile even once during the course of this.

Mattias cannot get a break! The poor guy is forever in the wrong place, saying the wrong thing. I am enjoying Julio in this role, especially as I feel he is cast against type.

Why is Greta so mean to Miguelina? I couldn’t blame Lucas for getting upset! I would have too if I heard anyone speaking to my grandmother like that.

I'm carefully finding my way around the characters. It takes me some time.

Armando is sooo handsome and my, he seems very tall! Sigh...

Confession. I realized Chava was winning me over when I realized I was smiling almost every time he spoke. There is something winsome about him. And Marjorie is great!!

Madelaine, looking forward to listening to your ear worm when I am home later. Thank you for the stellar recap.

Diana

I'm watching Dulce Amor right now and trying to keep an eye on this remake.

I really hope they wont bring Hasta up to 300, that's just gonna be painful.

Also I hope Hasta changes some of the storylines a bit. In Dulce the high raitings and 300 eps. weren't really working for some of the actors and they left, so some of the really good pairings didn't end up together.

I don't want to spoil anything but my favorite couple was separated so I really hope this doesn't happen in Hasta :(

Thanks Mads!

Hmm...what could Alexa be hiding? I didn't believe a word she said about soon being in a new movie.

Methinks she hasn't be able to find work in the acting world at all (not even in the independet movies she said she has been in) and has spent all the money she has been given on shopping.

Ok so Mestro Coria is a chocolate reciepe thief. Interesting. Don Paco sure told him off. I loved how Maestro Coria ended up in the mud.

I wish Don Paco would get a grip and smile. I hate this grouchy attitude he always. I can understand his anger and frustation but still it is no excuse to treat others like crap (and I don't mean Coria, I mean people like Lupe, Lucas, and Marisol)

I'm loving Pedro Fernandez in this role. I can't wait until the romance with Sofia begins. I loved that little scene with them laughing at the Mozrat song.

Can't wait until tonight.

Good Morning Y'all:

Thank very kindly for all your kind words.

Corazon Salvaje:

Thank you kindly. I know PF seems to play the same character, but I like it! He's sweet and charming and I'm really liking him here. MdS is really surprising me. I never thought I'd get Kendho out of my mind, but she's done it.

Diana:

Thank you so kindly. I agree with you, I think Coria is riddled with guilt. I also think his biggest fear is being found out to be a fraud. How is he coming up with new stuff? Well, Paco's book is huge, so maybe Coria has been doling out those recipes bit by bit so as to come up with something new. Oh Diana, me too, about PF. Everytime he speaks I smile too! Chava is such a wonderful character. And yes about Armando, sigh! I can't stand Irma though!

TomBoy:

When Amores Verdaderos aired here, everyone was worried about the length of that one and the storyline too. They did change up the story line a bit and it was extended but not near as long as the original was. It was only like 180 epis I think. I really don't think they will do that here. At the end of AV, people that had seen the originals from
Argentina and Columbia compared the three. At the end of this one, tell us how the original varied from the one here.

Mauricio:

Thanks so much for the added info on Alexa. So she is fibbing to her family. I too now wonder what she is hiding. She had a look of panic when Sofia told her to go back to Spain if she didn't like it, hmmmmm........ Yes, Paco is a sad sack in many ways, remember Fully from La Temp? So different here. I was so surprised he cried, and more than once here, and Greta right along with him. I want to see their whole back story. Seems Octavio, Greta and Paco were friends at some point and started with the bidnez together. And then Paco got shoved out. Oh, and I wonder if Greta is from the Union Colonia. Is that why she is afraid of anyone from there? She didn't look all that richy rich in that picture of the three of them. Paco is definitely bitter.

I too am loving PF in this role. He never gets old and his storylines are always so very good. It's funny but I'm waiting for him to start getting that drink in a baggie with the straw. I'm just glad there is no Vikki, Vikki, Vikki!

Diana:

I too wonder why Greta is so mean to Miguelina! She treats her like crap. I can see why Lucas is upset, but he needs to get a grip too. I don't like all of his stealing. You know I had a deja vu moment when Miguelina said she was the boys sole support. Reminds me of Destilando Amor and Franciso, Franciso de la Vega. This was the actress that played Franciso's Mama.

I also wonder why Alexa is Greta's favorite? Alexa is an airhead, does nothing and Armando is right she is frivolous. Sofia and Dani are such contrasts to Alexa. They are more grounded but I don't like Dani mooning over Lucas. She needs to find out what he is up to.

Madelaine: Yes! Isn't it great that Francisco's mother is here and that he is as well! Quite a Destilando Amor reunion.

Yes, Alexa clearly is the favorite - a fact not unnoticed by a seemingly resentful Sofia.

And of course, just because I was glad Lucas stood up for his grandmother, I can't stand the little grifter's stealing. He needs an attitude and career change pronto! :)

AV! Sniff...Ah, Eduardo...I miss him and while I hope he is making headway in his career here, hope he returns to TNs...

Diana

Diana,

EY sigh, and double sigh! I too hope he comes back to TNs. I constantly research new upcoming TNs to see if he is the the cast! I too miss him!

Madelaine - Terrific recap. Thanks, with your help I'm starting to get a feel for who’s who.

I like the faceoff between scrappy Chava and suave but evil Patricio. In attitude, Chava reminds me of Michael Keaton. In my view, Julian Gil has never looked better and should be on the cover of GQ. Glad he lost the blond highlights from La que no podía amar.

Both Irme and Alexa wear too much eye shadow, like to spend money they don't have, and seem to be trying to be something they’re not. Will there be a Door No. 3 for Armando?

I like the friendship between Chava, Armando, and Mattias. Poor Mattias, he gets no respect. Now that he realizes that fact, will he stop gossiping?

I guess I’m supposed to think Danny is a cute thief, but the real waiter is going to have to pay for what he did. Has Danny never thought of getting a job?

I don't understand Lucas' stealing, He's young and should be able to find a decent job. He won't be able to get away with stealing forever. Sooner or later he is bound to get caught. Poor Migeulina. You know Lucas will cause her a lot of suffering when she finds out what he has been up to.

Neice,

Thank you kindly. I too like the friendship with the three dudes, as I've come to think of them. I do like that Mattias gossips. He has more info than he knows, which hopefully some day he'll gossip about to the right person.

Irma and Alexa are a lot alike. I want to see the scenes they show in the promo where Irma slaps Armando and Alexa looks shocked. That would be most interesting. I too don't like that overdone eyeshadow. The reddish one especially.

Oh, JG is looking mighty fine. He used to be a model I think. I too am glad he got rid of the blonde. He looks much better here.

I agree with you about Lucas. He needs to be set straight and then fly right. Miguelina could use the help. I can see already she works her fingers to the bone and gets yelled at so much. Maybe Fausto or Chava will set him straight. I think he needs a good male influence. I wonder where he's been before now? He just seemed to show up.

Maurico:

I agree with you too about Lucas. Has he been away maybe? I think Miguelina was very happy he was back. It's true he can't steal forever without being caught. I wonder how old he is. Maybe eighteen or so?

Mads:

Miguelina and Lucas lived in Colonia Union in the past. They moved to Queretaro and both have recently returned to Colonia Union. Miguelina has actually just started to work for the Ripoll's.

I think that's why Greta is so harsh on Miguelina, she's new and Greta wants to set the rules straight.

I've noticed that in Dulce Amor (in the future ill just use DA) Julian's wife and the Bandy sister he likes both are quite petite.
And here Armando's girlfriend and Alexa both use a lot of make up lol

Thanks, Mads!

Alexa is totally full of it, and I can't believe Greta is falling for her bs. How strange that the middle child is the one who gets all the attention.

TomBoy - So DA Alexa doesn't wear too much makeup? Does she have a cheap accent in DA?

Mauricio - Nope. No eye makeup and no accent. She's caprichosa and acts like a star but that's about it.

Also I like the middle sister better in DA cause you actually believe her and feel bad for her but Alexa just acts like a brat.

One of the other differences I've noticed is Irma. In DA she's the wife but here she's just a girlfriend. I wonder why?

I'm so glad Irma is not the wife in Hasta cause it would remind me way too much of Amores Verdaderos, where I was rooting for the wife (Cristina) over Miss Vicky. Right now I'm split 50-50 between Irma and Alexa. Don't care for either.

TomBoy: Thanks! That's interesting about Alexa.

Niece: That's probably why they made Irma the GF here instead of the wife. They didn't want it to look so bad once Armando has to choose to between Alexa or his GF Irma.

I really want to root for Alexa but she's almost as annoying as Irma.

I wish there was a 3rd choice of some sorts.

Thanks for the recap Mads. I can see Sophia falling in love with Chava. What I can see is Sophia falling in love with him at first sight.
