Mentir Para Vivir #32 Tue 11/19/13 Cynderella's Interpretation

Please forgive me!  I do not have cable.  Last night I was watching Me Vida Me Robo (Or whatever) and in the last ten minutes, the show was interrupted by a soccer game.  I waited to see if it was a mistake, but Mentir didn't come on and I fell asleep.  So, I don't know if it aired or not.  Anyways, I depend on the ccs to do recaps.  I didn't get to see the aired episode or have the recaps.  I watched it on line, and the following will be my interpretation of what happened.  It's made up!  If I would have written the episode, this is what would have happened based on what I saw and the things that I could understand.

My version will be up shortly!  In the meanwhile...talk amongst yourselves and share what you know.  See my version below.  See Vivi's version in the comments for the TRUTH!   [I've included both parts following Cynderella's summary.  Thanks to both of you since the rescheduling really screwed all of us up!  I almost missed both telenovela episodios myself last night. --Jardinera654]

Rhoda Penmark runs into Paloma’s arms and reveals that her father is alive!  He came to her school today!  She’s so happy!  He’s not dead and together they will be committing heinous crimes against humanity!  But first we plan on taking down your company and running off to Columbia.  Oh yeah and he’ll be at the party!  Gosh, I’ll sure miss you, Granny, but it’s business!  You understand.  Anyways, don’t tell my mother that I told you.  Are we still having the party?  I deserve it because I’m cute.

Meanwhile over at the Bolo Bar, Sebastian, Raquel and Oriana have all chosen to fraternize with Ricky’s soon to be arch nemesis, Jose Luis.  When, Jose Luis attempts to talk business with drunk Sebastian, Oriana abruptly ends the dinner party.  Raquel tells her to stay, but she walks out anyway.  Jose Luis impresses the other diners by picking up the tab for all and “makes it rain”.  Sebastian picks up the excess money and leaves a meager tip for the waitress.  Sebastian calls Ricky to gloat that he has just had drinks with Jose Luis.  Ricky tells him to come pick up his inheritance check.

Outside of Paloma’s mansion, Jose Luis fails to get to first base with his prickly wife.  She’s still sensitive about him trying to frame her for his crime and all.  Geez, learn to forgive, honey!  Anyways, she hurries into the house where Nadia tells her that Paloma is expecting her.  Paloma confronts Inez about Jose Luis and tells Inez that you can take the hooker off the corner, but you can’t take the corner out of the hooker. Paloma wants to know how Inez could involve Rhodalina in her illicit hookerations and drug binges.  Why are you making that poor innocent child lie?  Everything she has ever done has been for her child, says Inez. Inez denies that she is still a low-down two bit whoring drugging hooker, but Paloma continues to chastise her.  She demands the truth.  Suddenly, Paloma has a small heart attack.  Instead of dialing 911, Inez call someone and tells them to call the paramedics so that the scene is more dramatic.

Hospital San Benito Lobby:  Ricky and Mariano rush into the lobby.  Oriana explains that she is the cause of Paloma’s heart failure.  She excuses herself to go to the chapel and pray and is joined by Matilde and Ruben.  Matilde prays that her son will return to his senses and turn away from those self-centered and narcissistic humanitarian ways.  He needs to get a job so that he can take care of the family.  Mariano visits Paloma’s room, where he kinda sorta just in case gives her the last rites.  Half-heartedly, he gives the obligatory “she’s a strong woman and she should fight” speech.  He’s so over this.  Later, he confers with the doctor.  Is she a goner for real this time or is another false alarm?  Is she going to do this every time she gets in a fight with Oriana?  Typically, I only give the last rites once per lifetime per person.  He will notate in her records that she’s already had two, based on his notes.

With all of the adults at the hospital, Rhodalina along with Tito, have decided that the time has finally make their move and to take over the mansion.  Dammit, she forgot about the servants!  Nadia comes in a gives her and update on Paloma’s health and tells her to get ready for school!  OK, plan B!  Rhodalina will take over the house after she gets home from school!  Mom always taught her that education comes first.  Yes, even a criminal master mind can profit off of a good education!  She runs from the room leaving Tito behind to guard the house.

Back in the hospital lobby, the doctor delivers the news that Paloma will be fine.  Mariano rolls his eyes!  Another wasted last rite!  He instructs the doctor that he should only be called if person is brain dead and they are about to pull the plug.  He’s got other stuff to do.  Matilde and Ruben excuse themselves.  Oriana runs into the Rev’s arms.  With no time steel himself against the molestation of pretty woman, Little Mariano wakes up with a vengeance.  Although only Ricky saw it, Mariano drops his game face and and his eyes feast on Oriana’s a$$.  Ricky says nothing, death stares his friend out of the lobby.  Once he is sure, Mariano is gone, Ricky quickly forgets that he just saw his friend checkin’ out his woman!  He moves in for a little smoochie poo.  Oriana gives in a little bit, but tearfully stops.  Whew!  Another dodged kissing scene!  Lucky me!

Later at the office, the secretary reminds Ricky that he has a meeting with Frankie Castro.  Ricky calls Fedelia, who is doing rich people stuff, like dining on the terrace.  He updates her on Paloma’s health.

Oriana begs the nurse to allow her to see Paloma for one minute.  Paloma seems surprised that Inez is still around, but is very pleased to see her.

Piero reports his suspicions to Ricky about Frankie.  His name appears no where!  He’s says some other stuff, but I didn’t get it.  Anyways, Ricky tells Piero that Paloma had another heart attack.

Ricky calls Mariano and grills him like a cheeseburger.  You’re twisting my arm, says Mariano.  Yeah, Francisco is her hubby.  Mariano tells Ricky that he saw Oriana hanging out with Frankie.  Ricky tosses some papers across the room.

Back in the hospital room, Oriana tells Paloma that they should cancel the party.  Fearing the wrath of Rhodalina Penmark, Paloma says that the party must go on.

Franciso Castro visits Ricky.  He wants to know his decision.  Frankie tells Ricky, that he’s not the major stock holder.  Ricky tells Frankie that he’s in charge.  Paloma had a heart attack and is using her condition to manipulate Oriana at the moment.  He doesn’t trust Frankie.  Frankie says then Inez will make the decision.  Ricky lays it on the line!  I know sh*t when I smell it, he says.  You are Jose Luis, the ball and chain of Oriana.  Frankie tells Ricky to convince Oriana to accept him as a partner or she’s going to jail.  Ricky says that he will go first.

Oriana has finally arrived back home.  Her car has been delivered, but she doesn’t want to drive it.  This pisses off the servants.  Jorge calls Ricky and tells him that Oriana came home and she doesn’t want the car.

Back in his hotel room, pyromaniac Jose Luis is absent mindedly burns his fingers as he talks on the phone with Joaquin. He tells his boss that Paloma is in the hospital.  Joaquin insists that the deal go through with Aresti Breton.

At the hospital, Ricky visits his Paloma.  He learns that Rhodalina is planning to return to Colombia with her father.  She’s worried that Inez will fall back into a life a drugs and what not!  He tells her that Inez is a good woman.

Ricky pulls in front of Paloma’s house like a Formula One race car driver.  He marches unannounced into Oriana’s room and slams the door.  Ricky confronts her about the car!  Huh?  Why won’t she drive it?  He tells her that it’s her fault that Paloma is lying at Death’s door of manipulation.  Finally, he brings up that he knows that Frankie is her ball and chain.  He knows that for the last two nights, she’s been cavorting around town with her hubby.  She denies it!  He says that you can lie to Paloma but not to me!  Rhodalina, has told Paloma that she and her father will return to Columbia.  Inez looks worried.  Ricky grabs Inez and almost shakes the truth out of her.  He stops himself and apologizes.  Oriana finally admits what Ricky knows is true.  She tells him that Jose Luis wants her to convince Paloma to make his a partner in the company.  She asks for his forgiveness.  He says that’s what he thought.  Oriana thinks it’s best if she and Rhodalina go back to Jose Luis.  Ricky strongly objects.  He’s a criminal.  Nadia knocks and tells her that Little Mariano is on there.

At the Casa Bonita, Lucina and Raquel review bills by the pool.  Raquel tells Lucina that Inez was out with Frankie last night.

Sebastian is out doing spoiled rich boy stuff, like dining at and out door café with his friend, when he spots his prey, Matilde’s innocent daughter.  She tells him that she was paroled long enough to see Paloma who had a heart attack so that she could manipulate Inez.  He invites her back to his den of iniquity.  Fedelia who is now out doing rich people stuff like buying a cornucopia of flowers, spots Sebastian, but fails to recognize the girl with him.  Sebastian takes the chick home (I forgot her name) and well, she ain’t so innocent anymore.

Ricky and Oriana get counseling from Mariano.  Little Ricky Ricardo knows that he‘s got competition, so he sits on the love seat with Orianna and jealously and resentfully guards her from his unexpected rival.  Oriana tells Mariano that Frankie is her husband, Jose Luis!  So, get in line, says Little Ricky Ricardo.  Anyways they need a friend, not a priest right now.  Little Ricky wants to marry Oriana.  It will solve all of their problems and hopefully keep all the competition at bay.  Mariano thinks that Oriana can be accused of bigamy.  Ricky says that the only way Jose Luis can stop them is if he admits his true identity.

Sebastian returns the chick to the corner where he found her.  Like her brother, she feels uncomfortable about the loss of her innocence.

I couldn’t get a grip on the last scene.
====================

Both Parts of ViviDC's recap from her posts below. ~~
-Alina tells Paloma about Colombia and her great times with her dad. She is just bursting with happiness. Then she begs Paloma not to tell her mom that she spilled the beans about Colombia because it’s supposed to be a secret. Paloma promises and hugs the little girl.

- Ori puts an end to the foursome (her, JL, Raqui, and Sebas) very quickly. JL leaves too, dropping a big wad of cash for the drinks, most of which Sebas puts in his pocket. Sebas and Raqui decide to stir up trouble by immediately calling Ricky with the news about Ori seeing another man, Francisco Castro. Ricky keeps his cool and says she's just seeing him about the investment.

- JL drops Ori off, a few blocks away as she demands. She is adamant that she will NOT let him invest his dirty money in the company and hurt Paloma and Ricky.

- She is told by the maid to go see Paloma immediately. Paloma is agitated. She now realizes that there is so much about Inez’s life before that she doesn’t know (thinking of Colombia). With these now multiple late night escapades, Paloma has wondered if she’s gone back into her old bad habits (hooking and drugging). She gets so worked up, she starts to have a heart attack. Ori calls for an ambulance, and then tries to reassure a now unconscious (or is she?) Paloma that she is not hooking and drugging, because she is NOT Inez!

- At the hospital, Ori is a mess and thinks it’s all her fault. Mariano (wearing proper black) tries to reassure her. Mati tries to listen in, and catches on tha Ori thinks it’s her fault. Ruben tells her to mind her own business. Mariano hugs Ori, and clearly feels more than the call of God. Ricky notices and clenches his jaw quietly. The doc tells them that it was indeed a heart attack, and it’s touch and go right now. They all go to pray. Ori prays for guidance to make the right choice—stay, go, tell the truth, continue the lie? All choices could lead to Paloma’s demise. Mati prays for Paloma to stay alive…because if she dies, Inez would kick them out. Ha! Mariano does the last rights over Paloma, but it’s really more of a personal prayer to God to take care of this good woman who has already suffered so much.

-Ori stays in the hospital all night, after everyone else goes home. She gets the chance to speak to Paloma when she wakes up. She assures Paloma she wasn’t up to old tricks. She was with her husband both evenings when she went out. She will one day tell her the rest of the secrets of her life, but now is not the time. This calms Paloma.

-The mob continues to pressure JL to get his claws into Aresti-Breton after he says the majority shareholder refuses and is now laid up after a heart attack.

Paloma insists that they go ahead and have the party for Alina without her. This will be significant because Ori made JL promise NOT to come to the party, since it will raise all kinds of questions. He promises, but previews show he breaks that promise.

-Piero shows Ricky the report on the investment company. Everything checks out, but Peiro still doesn’t trust them. He personally wouldn’t allow the investment. JL is next to meet with JL/FC. He gets right to the point and says he knows he’s really JL and Ori’s husband. JL at first tries to deny. Then he tries threats. Does Ricky want Ori to go to jail? Ricky hotly counters that he’d gladly throw JL in jail. JL then comes back pointing out how cheaply/quickly Ricky would sell out Ori, who he supposedly loves. Points scored for JL. Ricky
immediately feels like a stupid jerk for having said such a thing. (Of course he would never turn Ori in, just to get JL.)

-Ori arrives home from the hospital to shower and rest for a bit. The servants point out that her brand new SUV has arrived. Feeling even more guilty than usual, she insists they send it back to the dealership. Thinking this is crazy talk, they call Ricky with the news. He decides to come over, when he immediately goes to Ori’s bedroom and gets up in her face about everything. Mati tries to listen in, thinking they are going to get busy in the bedroom. Ruben pulls her away, tells her they are grown people, and to mind her own business. LOL!

-Ricky is like a dog with a bone. Ori is so tired, it doesn’t take her long to admit that FC is JL. He’s pressuring her to convince Paloma to take the deal, which she refuses to do, and to get back together with him, which she is considering for Alina’s sake. Knowing he needs more help, Ricky calls on Mariano. The three of them meet and discuss the options. Obviously, Ricky is not down with the go back to JL plan.

-Sebas spots Fabi on her way home from the hospital. He convinces her to come back to his place, where he then uses every trick in the horny teenager playbook (that her parents should have taught her about) to convince her to have sex with him. Later, he drops her off a few blocks from home, tells her to fix her hair and makeup, and doesn’t even get out to open her door for her. Even his anemic protestations of love and that they are now like husband and wife, aren’t enough to stop Fabi’s tears or that sinking feeling that she just lost her virginity to a jerk.

-Raqui tells Lucina about Ori’s late night meeting with FC. Lucina is impactada.

The investigator in Colombia was able to get the bank documents with Ori's signature to compare it to her marriage certificate signature. They are both indeed her signature. JL didn't forge the bank papers, he slipped them in with other papers and had Ori put her real signature on them. This is NOT good and makes it harder to prove her innocence. Ricky then suggests that the investigator get his hands on the deposit and withdrawal slips and see who signed those. Surely, it will be JL. Piero says that's a lot harder to do, but Ricky says the detective needs to do what it takes. Then he speaks about selling his shares to JL's friends, in exchange for JL leaving and leaving Ori alone, forever.

Cynderella, you can watch this episode with ccs english or spanish on Univision. They post the episode early morning the next day.

Cyn- Oh no! Yes, there was a big soccer game last night- Mexico vs. Ireland. Here on the East Coast, all the shows started a bit early, with no leftovers from the evening before, and all four shows were wrapped up by 10:45pm EST. I'm guessing the schedule got further screwed up for the folks in the west. I’ll do a quick rundown.

-Alina tells Paloma about Colombia and her great times with her dad. She is just bursting with happiness. Then she begs Paloma not to tell her mom that she spilled the beans about Colombia because it’s supposed to be a secret. Paloma promises and hugs the little girl.

That's all I can remember at the moment. I'm sure Cynderella's full recap up will cover whatever plot points I missed.

Sorry for the typos. I meant Ricky meets with JL/FC.

Poor Fabi! Please don't let her get pregnant. I forgot to mention that Fidelia saw Sebas sliming on Fabi when she was on her way to visit Paloma at the hospital. She didn't know who the girl was, but she was concerned.

Great job with the recap Cyn! Can you refresh my memory on what the last scene was; maybe I can help. I really can't remember at the moment. Who was in it?

Cathy X, I tried that at 2 am and it wasn't up. I have to work, so I can't watch it during the day anymore.

Thank you VIVI, I really appreciate it.

The last scene was between Piero and Ricky. Ricky willing to do anything to prove Oriana's innocence and if it needs he will sell his shares to JL, just JL leaves alone Oriana, do not harass her.

Piero and Ricky were in the last scene. Ricky said...it can't be! They were looking at papers.

Cynderella

Aha! Thanks for jogging my memory.

Slowly the moment of truth must be arrived, because the old lady I think wouldn't survive another trauma. Too much for her.

It seems Oriana just speak then, when she is shaken by a strong man. All of this struggles between the heroes wasn't, If Ori would be honest.
I loved Ricky's looking when Mariano huged Ori, and our priest noticed watchful eyes of Ricky.
I loved the same mode Adriana Roel as Delia Casanova in LFDD.

Opening credit: probably I am the only one, who loves this pictures. For me is so boring when I see an entrada from promoscenes, I am waiting more from the produceres. For me not enough e.g. LQLVMR, ADP os STUD. Before MPV I loved entrada of LQNPA. Opening credit of MPV was novel in Mexico, but not in the world, because the Globo showed something similar in 2007. It was the abertura of Sete pecados.

Cynderella and Vivi - Thanks. I'm amazed at your style and speed. My favorites:

Cynderella - "Paloma confronts Inez about Jose Luis and tells Inez that you can take the hooker off the corner, but you can’t take the corner out of the hooker."

Vivi - "Mariano hugs Ori, and clearly feels more than the call of God."

Oriana needs Ricky's help. But I hope she doesn't let him take charge. I don't know if it was in the show or the previews, but Ricky said something about blocking JL forever from not just Oriana, but Alina as well, and that's crazy.

Did anyone else think that Padre Plaid was checking out the woman in black at the hospital? He actually spun around to take a look as she walked by.

Sure hope that idiot Sebas used a preservativo. Fabiola needs to talk to someone in confidence. Cause if not, I’m afraid she’ll become Sebas’ doormat.

Vivi in DC and Cynderella, THANK YOU SO much. You both are just super, super. What would we do without you?!?!

Matilde shows me that she continues to do things for all the wrong reasons. Paloma is her meal ticket. That is her only interest in her. She's smothered her children with her sanctimonious BS. Smothering children is not the same as directing children. I felt so horrible for Fabi, so horrible to lose one's virginity so that one piece of trash can have his fun. Fabi strikes me as a sensitive young lady. This encounter could have long lasting effects.

So, Matilde, is this what you wanted for your smothered children?!

As for JL, he's slime to me. He is a loser. This RIDICULOUS argument of how he was "forced" into doing his bad deeds. Oh please save your breath, buster!

If I were Orines/Oriana, I think I could much more easily handle adultery than what JL has done to Oriana. Are you telling me that there was NO one else who could have been the fall guy for JL? His wife?! He laid this all on his wife.

This Jerk of a JL has some 'splainin to do. I'd like to see Ursula from "La Tempestad" make him do a dance Norteno style.

JL=Loser....and I hate the way he is using Alina. Wrong. Wrong in every sense of the word.

Fatima

So, Ricardo offered to sell his shares to JL so he would leave Oriana alone? See, this is why I'm Team Ricardo. This is a guy, as intense and stifling as he may be, SHOWS his love for Oriana always. DZ just needs to watch how Jorge Luis Pila was with Aracely Arambula in La patrona how to be intense, jealous, concerned about a prota without coming off as stalkerish. That was a master class in galanism. DZ's villano background seems to hamper him in that regard-so he should watch guys like JLP and learn.

Mariano's hug had me shouting EEEEEEWWWW at my tele. Clearly that was not the "call of God" he felt! Eeeeew

Fabi losing her innocence to such trash and clearly when she wasn't ready to, how tragic.

Oh my, you're even more hilarious when you are guessing at what's going on.
He grills him like a cheeseburger, you crack me up girl.

Vivi, I loved your Mariano clearly feels more than the call of God when he hugged Oriana, lol.

I like to think that Fabiola was crying because Sebastian just wasn't that good. And I hope that Fabiola sees Sebastian being intimate with another girl so she gets the picture that he's just using her.

I don't like JL even if he didn't have much of a choice to get involved with bad people. And I'm really mad that Oriana thinks he's innocent too. Maybe she should just go off to be with him then.

It's sad to me when a character is in love with someone who doesn't feel the same way about them, like Mariano. I am hoping he doesn't do anything about his feelings for her and then gets over it.

I'm not sure if Oriana thinks JL is innocent. Ricky, understandably focused on protecting her, was talking in such stark black and white terms - JL is a delincuente, etc. Having been (seemingly) happily married to him and seen his good sides in better days, I think she was trying to paint a fuller picture of him for Ricky and Mariano.

Vivi and Cyndi, los mejores! Vivi gives us just the facts with great observations on the characters. And Cyndi bring the funny! Indeed, Vivi, where are Fabiola's people? I can't believe a two parent household would send out in the world their adolescent daughter completely clueless about any and all the horndog adolescent tricks small-minded teenaged boys play. I don't believe a six-year-old Lina transported into Fabi's body would believe Sebastian 's crap. Lina is a six-year-old with common-sense, spunk and self-confidence to know when she's being told garbage. Lina's only weak spot is her Daddy. And even then, she told Paloma to keep it hush-hush about her father since she wasn't supposed to say anything.

Cyndi, you are such a fool for the Mariano last rites Paloma comments! I laughed so hard and could totally visual Mariano writing in his notes on Paloma the Spanish version of 'This old lady is trippin' with all these close call infartos.' I recommend you watch without CC more often. It's hilarious!

So there WAS a show last night! It must have come on really late here. I wonder if my DVR got it. If not, at least I have read not one but TWO great synopses! Both very funny.

I wish Paloma and Oriana had been able to give Fabiola a clue about horny young punks before she got caught in Seb's snare. Ugh.

On the plus side, on Monday night I saw that Osvaldo de León, who played the guy in the park with the dog who rescued Oriana, is listed in the opening credits! That means he's going to have a bigger role, right?

Thanks Cynderella. I always relish your presentations. Hilarious as always.

I enjoyed the Dr's little quip that Mariano's conjuro (incantation, exorcism) probably was more responsible for Paloma's favorable and quick response rather than anything he did medically. Mariano seemed a bit nettled by the word conjuro and corrected him and then Matilde was critical of the Doc's humor later, commenting to Ruben that she thought it was disrespectful. Well, he made me smile.

I also thought it was amusing that Ricky asked Mariano's advice and he said well first we must trust in God, and Ricky snapped back that he was wanting a friend's advice not priest talk.

I know that Paloma's a key character (actually I liked her a lot at first) but her meddling is starting to annoy me enough that after her little infarct, I found myself wishing for a coma or maybe even... well, you know... something more definitive.

Carlos

Julia: Yes, Osvaldo is in the opening credits with Fabiola on the steps. I'm sure it is a big hinting for us.

Carlos, I too prefer Gangsta Granny Paloma, who told Matilde Tito was more important than her and Fauxcisco to go pound sand with his money in her hat and cane than 'I'm coming home to you Elizabeth' (h/t Redd Fox )Paloma who's always having a heart attack when an uncomfortable truth about 2Nes comes out.

But I get it in a way. Paloma feels really guilty about listening to her hubby and abandoning Palomita and blames the hard life Palomita and Ines had, and their vices, on herself, too. So, 2Nes possibly engaging in illicit hookerations, as Cyndi put it, would send Paloma's guilt into overdrive, thereby causing an infarto.

J desy NYC- ITA that a lot of Paloma's high anxiety about OrInez comes from her feelings of guilt. That's not going to improve when she finds out how Real Inez's life ended. :(

Vivi,

Paloma will be wrecked when she finds out about Real Ines' life. However, that's why I think it'll turn out Oriana is also her biological grandchild. It's a classic deus ex machina maneuver that would work well in this TN. The writers have left enough clues that Oriana is Palomita's daughter and knowing that she found one of Palomita's children would go a long way towards Paloma resolving her feelings of guilt as well as Oriana's guilt of stealing Real Ines' identity.

J- I hope they go with that twist, because I really do think finding out how Inez really ended will kill Paloma.

Gracias Cynderella and Vivi! Two recaps for the price of 1 :D

I almost thought I wasn't even going to get to see the episode, since there were 2 sports guys on the screen when I started watching on the DVR.

The staff being pissed about the car was funny. From their perspective, they'd probably love to have any car at all, much less a sweet luxury ride like that, and here she is turning it down. I imagined them thinking "Oh, I see, you don't WANT the car...rich people problems!"
